Very good game, the only problem I have with it is that the story is short.

The characters themselves are another strong part, especially Steph and Ryan. The game feels very short though, I wanted to spend more time with them. The main story is kind of uneventful and short, but the characters definitely carry this game.

I also want to praise the game for its rich options in the Accessibility menu, especially the option for having more reaction time for the time-based decisions. The most frustrating thing about these games is having a too little time for reacting, not being able to fully read and understand the options, then the timer runs out and the game automatically picks an option for me. Screw that, the whole point of these games is making the decisions yourself. And this is a franchise with supernatural abilities, so don't tell me it is actually "realistic" that in certain scenarios you should have a limited reaction time.

If you liked any of the other Life is Strange games, you will like this, too!

Well ... after finishing the game I think it is one of the best games I have played, brilliant story, brilliant soundtrack and nice mini-games, well-written characters, admittedly, the game takes quite a long time, but I think it is worth "suffering" to see a really well written story.
    I heartily recommend :)

    Soundtrack: AWSOME
Story: Quite good ( It has some unnecessary and boring moments )
Soundtracks, visuals, and characters create a great atmosphere.
Powers were much more fun to use than I initially expected.
I rate it Life is strange 1 > True Colors > Before the Storm > Life is strange 2.

Very good story interactive game, truly on top animations for this gen.
Totally fell in love with all the characters, and has its up and downs like only LiS does It.
Only negative thing I have to say Is that maybe the ending was a bit rushed, all that set-up resolved in such little time, but apart from that is truly a great expierence. Really looking forward to the next installment in

P.S. If anyone is wondering about performance. I played this game on a GTX 1660 Super OC Edition. I played at 3840x2160 resolution, with all settings to Very High, except: 1) no ray tracing, 2) shadows set to High, and 3) resolution scaling set to 80%. This is just a massive improvement on the second installment in the series and, although the first game is yet to be dethroned, True Colors didn't stand far behind at all.

The game is shorter than its predecessors, and as murder mysteries go, the plot is lacking a bit. Also gameplaywise it does not improve at all from the previous games and can be boring at times when looking for everything that world has to offer.

But apart from those few negative points, I think that this game offers a really special experience. The soundtrack is just beautiful and varied, portraying perfectly the setting and mood of every scene. It was really the core of the most emotional scenes in the game, along with the fantastic performances for each and every character, specially from Erika Mori as the protagonist Alex. What I didn't expect would make such a huge difference is the improvement to the facial expressions. The characters and the interactions between them feel so real and it's possible to actually tell exactly how they're feeling without even listening to the dialogue. Regarding the characters themselves, this is as great as expected from a Life is Strange game. Alex is such a sympathetic, fun and relatable protagonist to play as, and the game allows us to really explore the lives of the other characters and feel for them as they accompany Alex throughout this journey.

All of this adds up to create this beautiful and heart touching experience that I'm sure won't get out of my head anytime soon and that I strongly recommend for every LiS fan out there.

Unfortunately, there are hardly any decision-making options and if there are any, they have little effect, but that didn't bother me personally.

As usual in Life is Strange, you spend most of your time walking around, talking to other people and listening to monologues about things. The last one could have been shortened to a more bearable level for my taste. At least it gives you a bit more context sometimes.

If you don't like games like this, which focus very much on the story and offer hardly any gameplay, you won't be happy with True Colors. Otherwise, I can highly recommend the game because it was a wonderful gaming experience for me, which deals with difficult topics in an unobtrusive way and still leaves you with hope and a good feeling.

A couple of things that I didn't like was that the game was way to easy. I know it focusing on Story telling but still would have been nice if on the odd occasion something challenged you like QTEs (Quick time events) or some harder puzzles. A couple missions were kind of detective sort of thing but they were mostly self explanatory.
Another thing that was frustrating but not really an issue with the actual gameplay. For some reason when I 1st installed the game it kept crashing after completing chapter 1 and loading chapter 2. I tried verifying files (Xbox App) and that didn't fix the issue. When I reinstalled it was fine thou. Mite have been a corrupt file or something. It was saying something about a UE4 siren but no error code.
Another thing to note was that throughout the hole game I was getting random screen tearing during cutscenes. I tried messing about with video settings but nothing solved the problem. Apparently it is just an issue with the game. Its annoying thou cos the game has been out half a year and this should be fixed.

Overall the game is amazing and I really enjoyed it. If you enjoy slow pace story games then you should give it a go!

As a long-time fan of LiS, I was curious to see how Deck Nine would handle this installment, given their previous work on Before the Storm, which, while decent, was just a prequel with an existing storyline. However, True Colors presented a completely original tale from start to finish, and boy, did they deliver excellently.

The gameplay remains familiar, but with intriguing new features and gameplay elements tied to the protagonist's unique power, adding a fresh twist. The choices I made felt relevant, and I relished the various options I had throughout the game. The graphics are generally fantastic, but there was one gripe that broke my immersion - witnessing sudden changes in texture quality when new objects or scenes appeared. Additionally, there were occasional instances of unexpected FPS drops that lingered for entire scenes, albeit these were rare occurrences, happening maybe three or four times in the entire game. Despite these minor issues, I must commend the breathtaking scenery and the phenomenal OST. The soundtrack, in particular, was truly outstanding, capturing that classic LiS essence. The visuals might not reach the level of DontNod's previous works, but they were still stunning, and the facial animations were incredibly impressive, surpassing my expectations even after seeing them in the trailers. Can you believe it's still LiS?

Now, onto the heart of it - this game screams Life is Strange through and through. It radiates more LiS vibes than LiS 2 ever did, and Alex, the main character, is simply the cutest, most lovable character the series has seen so far. The supporting cast is equally well-crafted and captivating. While it may not have outdone the brilliance of the first LiS, I found myself emotionally invested in Alex's story right from the first chapter (now chapters instead of episodes). Her heartrending backstory evokes empathy early on, which is a definite plus. I did sense that Life is Strange and LiS 2 were more expansive in some ways - not just gameplay or story-wise, but in terms of the world they built. True Colors felt somewhat smaller in comparison, though I still adored the story and its universe and couldn't help but make some comparisons throughout my playthrough. There were moments where I felt the final episode could have been handled better, though it wasn't bad by any means; it just had room for improvement in certain aspects, in my opinion.

In conclusion, I absolutely loved Life is Strange: True Colors. It successfully encompassed everything that makes LiS special - it was great, melancholic, intense, and captivating all at once. It captured those emotional highs and lows I've come to associate with the series, leaving me thoroughly engrossed in the story. While I personally enjoyed it more than LiS 2, it still couldn't dethrone the original LiS from its throne (no comparison with BtS or Captain, as that wouldn't be fair). More LiS games, please! I can't get enough of this world, and I eagerly await any new installments that may come our way.

Amazing storytelling game. Please produce more games like this!! I only wish there was an options setting to make the interactive objects less noticable (i.e. make those white borders disappear) so that the world looks more natural and discovering those items would be more rewarding.

Life Is Strange: True Colors is a beautiful and fantastically touching game about home and isolation. Although it has the major flaw of not being content creator friendly with many songs being licensed, that should not take away from the heartfelt story of Life Is Strange: True Colors. This was a breath of fresh air in the world of choice-based games, making you feel that you have more of an impact on the story than some other choice-based titles. The stunning visuals and the absolutely touching story that had me feel emotions like no other game has made me even more gripped to the Life Is Strange universe. Expand

As someone who has played and liked all of the Life Is Strange series, I really liked this game, and it is one of the best games for me in the series.

Life Is Strange: True Colors paints a pretty picture, creating a story you’ll really want to invest in, with only a slow plot point or two distracting from what is otherwise a great work of art.

True Colors is the most “alive” Life is Strange so far thanks to a technological leap, but it lacks spark and tries to compensate for it by referencing or imitating the original game.

With Dontnod, there’s always a small town and the death of a friend to get the story rolling. But this time around, characters, plot and setting are far more developed than in previous games. [Issue#255, p.62]
