Bloody arcade game in which the player uses a divine artifact Lichtspeer to mowe down waves of absurd creatures in a well-stylized environment. It's a straightforward action – and it’s a pure fun.

Describing its world as an “ancient German future,” Lichtspeer is filled with amusing overtones, and the enemies themselves are often ridiculous and fun. Whether it’s viking penguins aboard longships or blue-skinned giants in sunglasses, there’s a comical feel to the whole thing that helps keep it entertaining.

Lichtspeer is a repetitive one trick pony but still I’m curious what the developers will think of in the sequel (if they ever make one, that is). [13/2016, p.75]

I find myself thinking that maybe I’ll play Lichtspeer again at some point in the future, but after the short time I’ve spent with it, I feel I’ve experienced all there is.

Lichtspeer is a videogame that lacks the synergy between its different aspects, making it a mere arcade game. This videogame is entertaining, but it needs a style of its own in order to transcend.

The game looks pretty good and starts out as some geometric spear lobbing blood filled mayhem. Loads of enemy types make the game fun to play. The game looks pretty good and starts out as some geometric spear lobbing blood filled mayhem. Loads of enemy types make the game fun to play. The crazy puppet style beasts offer up quite a challenge at times. many of the levels drag on a little to long but overall the game is fun. Full Review »
