Jun 2, 2017Just about my only criticism of Lichtspeer is that the Vita version doesn't take advantage of the handheld's touchscreen to allow for touch controls. If there’s one thing Angry Birds showed, it’s that physics-based games are made for touch controls, and they get a little more awkward when you have to use old-fashioned buttons and thumbsticks. Obviously, it still works well enough here, but that doesn’t make it any less of a missed opportunity. That’s the only area where Lichtspeer falters though. Otherwise, it’s a worthy successor to its noteworthy antecedents, and it’s a must-buy if you’re looking for your next addiction on the Vita.

Apr 25, 2017Lichtspeer takes a simple idea and makes it colourful, challenging, and fun. Its quirky humor will win you over, and there's some addictive high-score chasing to be done, but some frustrating encounters may detract from an otherwise impressive package.

Apr 24, 2017The split between aesthetic pleasure and unforgiving gameplay will be what drives the spear between whether this game is a worthwhile buy or not. There are a few things which the developers get absolutely right, and as a product of a small-team it’s fun to simply celebrate the sheer joy with which Lichtspeer was made. There’s value in the art, the style, the writing and the magic when it all comes together. As much as I enjoyed all that, however, I can’t say that this is a game which plays well.

Apr 18, 2017At its core, Lichtspeer works as a simplistic arcade experience. Unfortunately, its blatant disregard for the average (and even the hardcore) gamer's enjoyment makes it a very difficult game to recommend.
