I must say I like the story and graphics of this game. Although it wasn't scary as I expected. In my opinion, the first game of the series was quite better. Anyway, I can say that it was ok. 5hrs on record.

Layers of fear 2 is not scary at all. There is lack of tension, gameplay is too simple and monotonous. Game is not worth 20-25 $.

Layers of Fear 2 is an unnecessary repetition of the original, with an interesting script, but in the rest it is an absolute disappointment.

Again we find an interesting story as in the original delivery, which perfectly fulfills, but to which the generalized confusion again affects him.

Walking Simulator with some puzzles and persecutions. I do not say more.

Apart from nice graphics, Layers of Fear 2 was a boring game that went on a bit too long. From cheap scenes in which you are being hunted by a monster to locked doors that spawn new corridors behind you, nothing really feels new. It is basically the first game but a bit longer.

Story was pretty weak compared to the first one also and it did not scare me much. Other "walking

Other "walking simulators" do it better. Bloober Team needs to come up with something new, the formula has lost its spark.

This game has a very good potential but they can't use it. Some movie references are amazing. but just this. If you have a too much time you can try.

Да, это не первая часть, авторы пошли в стороны, чтобы прощупать почву, но сам
LAYERS OF FEAR тут по прежнему есть, если бы не монстр, от которого надо убегать.

Honestly? I was kind of let down by this game, doubly so coming fresh off the heels of the original. Its atmosphere, while having the potential to be compelling, has much to be desired. Its atmosphere, while having the potential to be compelling, has much to be desired. Any unnerving energy present in the first has been traded in for instakill chase scenes, which matters even less considering the abundance of checkpoints. Its jumpscares fall flat as there's less buildup than was present in the original, and it comes off feeling forced and cheaper as a result. There were so many moments where I felt "I could be experiencing the original again", which is an underwhelming sentiment for a sequel to provide.
Its clearer path towards endings makes sense considering the narrative, and it has moments of intrigue, but these islands are few and far between in an ocean of clunky gameplay and an underwhelming atmosphere. Overall, this felt much more misguided than the original, which is heartbreaking.

The painter had been replaced by an actor, and old mansion morphed into a ship – but the gameplay and scare tactics have changed very little. [Issue#239, p.64]

The story in Layers of Fear 2 is decent, even if you can see the narrative twist coming, but you need to sit down and analyze the pieces for it to really come together. The same tricks used in the original to distort the environment still work here, as do the jump-scares despite their predictability over time. The longer playtime robs the title of the crispness of its predecessor, while the element of an active pursuer doesn't mix well with the game's need for more involved door and switch mechanics and the precision needed to activate those action spots. It's still worth checking out for fans — but sometime later, as opposed to immediately.

Coming from someone who adored the first Layers of Fear, I was ready to love this sequel. Instead, I was disappointed by the dearth of creativity, an overreliance on ineffective audiologs and documents, and multiple insta-kill chases that frustrated me until the end. I used to considered Bloober Team to be the best up-and-coming horror developer around, but either the horror genre is evolving beyond them, or the last three too-busy years have burnt them out.
