Despite this game having the lowest metacritic score on my games list, it's undoubtedly my most played. The game is simple yet addictive. If you're more concerned with how well wet rocks reflect light than blasting that monster gnawing on your arm, then the game isn't for you. There's a ton of servers even after you put on plenty of filters, so there's never a worry about not finding a server to play on, the only downfall is that you never know what wave the server is on; joining matches where they're a round from the final boss or already killing it happens way too often. Overall, I give this game a 10/10 simply because the ratio of the hours I've played verses money I spent exceeds 10; in fact, it exceeds 20. eat that L4D. Expand

Where Left 4 Dead lacked in challenge and just pure grittiness, here it is, in a convinient $20 price tag. weapons are hella fun to use (shotgun packs a blow never before seen in a video game) Classes are fun to level, but in the end you'll find the support class the obvious choice for a standalone defense agianst the specimens. Although, the game focuses on cooperation and therefore a variety of classes IS important. For instance, the firebug class is great for cooperation as he can efficiently weild a flamethrower which greatly weakens and suppresses enemies to be picked off, and also rarely requires a reload. Gibbing heads off of specimens with a chainsaw as your teamates pick off enemies behind you by rifle is also a great blast. Overall what really saves the replay value of this game is fast paced rounds, numerous custom maps (as there is currently a very devoted community) And most importantly a true challenge for players who choose hard or scuicidal difficulty, making the numerous achievements very hard, but rewarding to attain. Even on normal the game is quite hard becase of the final boss each round (aka PATRIARCH) which is VERY,VERY HARD to kill and requires heavy teamwork and quick planning (which you have only 30 secs. to a minute to do so) In my opinion He should be one of the hardest bosses of all time, considering how often he wipes out a trained 6 player team no sweat. Overall, a MUST buy for all gamers looking for a gritty, challenging coop "zombie" shooter. Expand

Killing Floor's title as an indie game really shows, the bland but hilarious voice acting (which I must add, every survivor except the trader share the same voice actor), and the somewhat outdated graphics (not that they're horrible, they're just not amazing), but that doesn't make Killing Floor a bad game. Basically you choose a 3D model as one of your characters, and you get to choose a perk you specialize in. These perks give you special abilities, like a discount on a certain weapon related to the perk, or an ammo increase, better accuracy, etc.
Then you have to fight waves of little mutated creatures with their own unique abilities.
At the end of the round (which can last up to 15 waves) there is a boss fight.
Almost all the maps are open world (except for a select few which usually take place in a city or something) and if you get tired of the maps Tripwire gives you, there are custom maps you can download.
For a mere 20 dollars, this game is awesome fun, and if you have any friends that play it, it'll sure last a while.

In the past... almost half a year since this game released, I have put hundreds of hours into it. Literally around 10x the length of time that L4D held my interest. It is really fun, the guns handle much better (there's ironsights!) and there are much more of them, more enemy types, TONS of user created maps, and, best of all, the game is challenging on the higher difficulties without being cheap about it like L4D is. If you're a skilled player you can survive on your own in most situations, instead of getting pinned down by a hunter/smoker the second your other team mates die. The Co-op is amazing, Teaches you to stay together or your definatley toast, the different kinds of mutants is similar to L4D, But just distorted. The guns all feel satisfying without ever feeling overpowered, partially due to the responsive controls and partially from the fact that no weapon is ideal for all enemies. The game also has a class system which is surprisingly addictive to level and a great community, which has given KF more longevity than I think anyone could have imagined. But despite all of its balance and frequent updates, the game retains some dumbfounding bugs; just search YouTube for "Killing Floor hitboxes" to see what I mean. The game is frequently compared to L4D, but I don't think that's a good comparison. It's more like Counter-Strike, but with player vs. environment instead of player vs. player gameplay. Expand

This is indeed a very underrated game. Sure the graphics are outdated and the objective can get a bit repetitive but that aside Killing Floor has a superb and addictive gameplay, especially in multiplayer. The game is far different from L4D, and there are so many new weapons, characters and the like. With the 2 new DLC's, 15 (!) new weapons have come out since the start, a new interface, 8 new characters and 3 new maps since the start. And, they'll probably get new content for us, like a new DLC.

You have 7 perks (classes) to choose from, the perks are medic, demolitions, support specialist, sharpshooter, commando, firebug and berserker. Each perk has a role to play during the game and it's here that teamwork is needed to survive as the higher you go in difficulty the harder the game becomes for the entire team.

You have a number of weapons to choose from depending on your chosen perk, some of these are the AK47, MG32 (Grenade Launcher), SCAR, Flamethrower, Chainsaw, etc.

The game is quite easy to learn, survive each wave of specimens (zeds) and go to the trader to buy new weapons/re-arm/buy armour, etc.

You'll then face the end of game boss, the Patriarch and he will take some skill to take down, he is heavily armed carrying a Mini-Gun and Rocket Launcher with will kill you or your team very quickly, he is also very fast and can cloak making him even more of a threat as you'll often find he can appear in the middle of the team without any warning. He can also heal 3 times if he takes too much damage.

I've put a lot of time into this game (over 800 hours so far) and every game is different, the devs also release new characters or make them available via achievements for a specific event.

The maps are very big and well designed too.

A great team-based game and I highly recommend it!

Killing Floor tests your accuracy and reactions to the max. Absolutely brilliant game play. The only reason I am not giving this game a 10 is because the avatars look slightly dated; however the environments are superb and can be quite scary at times. The other reasons I am not giving this a 10 is because you cannot see what wave the server is at before joining and if you join round 7 - 10 and no one gives you any money; you are stuck with a pistol, knife and no body armour and normally die pretty quick. I wish tripwire would add an update so the servers display "Wave X" making it easier to choose a server rather than hanging around in a match because you died early. I will be playing this game for a very long time. There is plenty of life in this game especially with the levelling up of classes. I can never picture myself becoming bored of this game. As a mod turned game I've found that since it's latest level update patch that the graphics have become crisper and the newer perks and weapons have brought on more interest in the game from veterans and new weekenders. My wife and I actually play this game together and ever since she realized she could set specimens on fire with a flamethrower she's been a regular maniac. I myself give this game a 9 for it's replayability and for the fun that it has given me. The only detrimental thing that came into consideration was the near korean mmo experience (IE: 3500 stalkers and 5.5 mil in damage with a bullpup/AK47/SCAR to get rank 6 commando) in grinding out the perk requirements. It's a very (VERY) good game, I'd probably say the best FPS I've played. I bought KF before LFD and wow when I played LFD I thought to myself "Why did I pay money for this?" I mean seriously KF just blows it out of the water.

Killing floor is a wave based, co-op, zombie survival game. Its addictive perk leveling system and regular updates from Tripwire, will keep me playing for days and days. This game really shouldn't be compared to L4D. Both are great games but they have completely different play styles.

Overall a good game. The graphics are outdated because its been made from a mod. However, the coop aspect is great. There are still exploits being found, but they are also still being patched. Good graphics, fun gameplay. Lacks some things (deployable defenses or sth like that), but after all it's a fun game. I have 18 hours in and counting. The only thing that I can hold against this game is the menu.It shows photos of the mutants... well, they're just gross.

Although the graphics are far from up-to-date, this game is great! it doesn´t get repetitive to me, and trying the different perks and weapons is fun and gets necessary in more difficult game modes...this game would be a 7-to 8 title for me, but it has something which most games today don´t have : developers who care for their gamers...the only dlcs for this gameAlthough the graphics are far from up-to-date, this game is great! it doesn´t get repetitive to me, and trying the different perks and weapons is fun and gets necessary in more difficult game modes...this game would be a 7-to 8 title for me, but it has something which most games today don´t have : developers who care for their gamers...the only dlcs for this game are character packs and not necessary for anyone, all the new contents like the new christmas content with 7 new weapons,a new map and a character to get through special achievements are free for everyone who owns the game! you wont get crappy stuff or uberstuff only available for those who pay...or loosy map packs for 20 dollars a dlc...you´ll get it all for free, and i think the community, the self made maps and the care of the developers for their gamers make this game a damn good one to own Expand

At first, i played this game in a single player. i found this game was very disturbing, and i get attacked from everywhere.. i cant even survive the 2nd wave, i was very disappointed.
then, i tried the multiplayer, it was very exciting, and also the atmosphere of thrill makes me really need to work together.
    it's cheap, and its amazing

This is a game I really like to pick up and play, but unfortunately it's hard to recommend to just anybody. At first I actually didn't care for the game at all and almost regretted purchasing it because I had no idea what I was doing. If you think you can get past the steep difficulty curve without smashing in your monitor then killing floor is a blast.

One of the best PC zombie games around. Better than left for dead 2 (Although that is a great game) Tripwire has truly put so much content and work into this game its a must place if you have a pc. It takes a different look on zombies that arent just mindless people who were bitten. The zombies can be blown apart which makes for a more immerse game although not as in debt as left for dead. One of the best PC zombie games around. Killing floor (to me at least) is one of the games where you will play a lot in the beginning due to the perk grind and what not, but will gradually start to play less due to lack of variety in the game

Even though it can get a bit repetitive, it's fun game and it's definitely not just a rip off of L4D. I enjoyed it, and if you can get a few of your friends to buy it too, it's worth every penny.

Please don't pay attention to the overall rating from the press, its a pretty damn fun game for the price. Basically imagine if Counter Stike: Source and Nazi Zombies had a baby, that's Killing Floor.

I love the fact that it's British. And it's funny. Those two points make it better than many FPS's out there-the comedy value is birlliant, and hearing a southerner taking the mick with gay-love jokes never gets old :D

Best survival fps there is, no contest & runs well for pc. HervéG , you sir are an idiot marking down a game for running bad, when you have a crap computer. I have a dual core with a gtx560 and runs fine on everything maxed. So if ur a noob then please dont comment here. It wastes readers time when they could be a reading a useful review.

Killing Floor is a fantastic game. The tight co-op gameplay requires constant teamwork and is often quite difficult on higher difficulties. Highly recommended for anyone with a close group of fellow PC gamers.

This game is one of the best to play with friends. Much better than L4D or L4D2. The graphics are neat, the gameplay is amazing (killing zombies for LOADSA MONEYYYYYY, who wouldn't love it?), this game was one of my favorites last year.
I think the reason more people don't know about it is because it's not out for consoles. But then again, most good things aren't.

Killing Floor is a great game, and I am sure of it. But As many others say, it is missing key elements. They really need better guns, We aren't little 8 year olds not knowing what type of gun something is (and even if you were a little kid I don't think you would be allowed to play this,) Also the difficulty problems. Begginer is well, way too easy and boring. Normal is well, hard, the fact that in a matter of waves it is way to easy from being overran to die. The single play is the worst thing ever. It is scary, but WAY too hard on anything other than begginer. Now the zombies are probbly the best thing of the game, they have great design and each has a special power including the average zombie. Finally the lag, OH GOD THE LAG. I get about what, 120 ping and the AI just jacks up to a point where a zombie 30 ft. away from you teleports straight to ya and takes about 20 life away. This may seem like it makes it bad BUT THIS IS A GOOD GAME! I'm sure if they make a Killing Floor 2 They could fix this into a one-hell-of-a-killing-game. And people that say its a waste of money, it isn't. It really passes that time when your stuck there thinkin about what to do today. I think you should buy this game if you don't mind the low-ish graphics (It really doesn't bother me.) Expand

This game gets bonus points for the developer, Tripwire Interactive, adding new content for FREE. Maps, guns, and even a perk has been added since the release of the game. Again, not as add-ons, but for free. Only real complaints are shoddy menus, shoddy third-person models, and repetitive game play.

  1. Killing Floor is a zombie game that lacks brain and own ideas. In the main part it's simply a Left 4 Dead clone with boring maps and graphics. But Killing Floor's emphasis on tactical gameplay, the solid coop mode and the cheap prize make the game worth a look.
  2. Tripwire Interactives Killing Floor is what you would expect of a polished mod, but doesn't exceed expectations as a retail game. It's good, but unfortunately far from perfect. A nice addition to the survival-horror genre though, and it has an attractively cheap price tag.

While the single-player experience is pretty much non-existent and there are still a large number of bugs that have to be contended with, there's enough of a foundation here for players to enjoy. Hop online and kill monsters for Queen and Country.
