I'll be honest, Killing Floor used to be a great game. Had you asked me a year ago, it would have been 8 or 9 out of 10, easily. Had you asked me a year ago, it would have been 8 or 9 out of 10, easily. But now, the game has gone from one of my favorite horde shooters to one of my #1 examples of how pay-to-win is killing this industry. A little under a year ago, a weapon DLC was added to the game, adding 4 blatantly overpowered weapons, such as a ranged weapon for a previously melee-only class and a scythe with greater reach than any melee weapon in the game. This was added under the guise of "supporting the modders who made them", despite the fact that said modders had been perfectly contempt with releasing their previous weapon mods for free prior to being bought out by Tripwire. Yesterday marked the release of a second weapon DLC, and the weapons are as overpowered as ever. If you're alright with being at an objective disadvantage to the players who forked out an extra $10, then go ahead, buy this game, as you'll probably enjoy it. But if you can't stand watching game-after-game fall to awful practices like this, then send the devs a message through sales figures, and don't buy Killing Floor, and hopefully we may see improvement in the future. I am absolutely and utterly disappointed in this game. I really am. With most people giving this 10's on end, I feel it only appropriate to give it a 0. You know, to balance it all out. Bad graphics, boring gameplay, crappy selection of weapons, and I could really just go on.

The enemy AI is really crappy, so there is no real tactic in this game, they only spawn and walk ridiculously to you. Also I really don't like the perk system, which seems to me a cheap way to increase replay value. So, fun to relax killing zombies from time to time, but nowhere as good as L4D (sorry to put this comparison once more). Another thing: I thought that the levels where open at first, but they are much smaller than I thought, you quickly know all the Map, and they don't seem to be huge. Turning around farms outrunning zombies, occasionally killing one or two who arrived near you, is quickly getting old. Expand

Put your money elsewhere, Killing Floor has no replay value and actually has no value whatsoever.

I'm surprised by all the good reviews since this game is pretty bare bones and not up to par with other games of the same genre. The game can be fun at times but the repetitiveness bogs the game down a lot. At first when I visited the in game weapon shop I thought there were a lot of choices but once I started using more guns, I realized I didn't like some of them and that I'd often stick to one or two certain guns depending on my class. I also thought at some point even more weapons would be available in the shop but I couldn't have been more wrong and it all just resorts in using the same guns all the time, playing the same mode, killing the same zombies, over and over again. There are also classes but this doesn't really help the game much and there aren't really any worthwhile perks to them except for spawning with armor or maybe a gun but other than that, leveling up perks just increases the amount of damage you do overall. So the lack of game modes (I'll remind you there is only one), repetition and lack of any real depth is what kills an otherwise somewhat enjoyable game. Expand

I completely disagree with anyone who says this is a great game. It is terrible with bad graphics and horrible game-play. Lucky for me, I got it on steam for $5 on a sale. So at least I didn't throw away too much money.

Well to be honest I can only play this game for about 1 round before I get extremely bored, I'm a level 5 Medic and can kill the Boss by myself most of the time and the mobs are either really easy or incredibly hard. (Scrakes, Fleshpounds) Overall I despise the game and would rather watch paint dry.

Overly boring and repetitive game, it's all disguised under the facade of leveling up, netplay is somewhat better but it's hard to find a dedicated teamplay as there is no requisite for it built it, just follow your own path and shoot everything in sight until the shop opens, rinse and repeat.

Never have I ever played a game this crappy. You could think of it as a very bad copy of Left 4 Dead. Sorry, but I have to **** that 8.8. Even when it's fun to have a serious problem "not supported" Tripwire seems to only care about avoiding to camp and their stats go up fast, but does not correct errors or facilitate the creation of servers.

KillingFloor has the qaulity that would you find in a Mod , which is what this game essentially is. This game features only one mode, which gets repetitive after you have played it several times, the AI nothing special, its all scripted. the weaponry seems to be the most developed section, yet you need to buy your weapons from a vendor, the vendor is a female women with quite a repetitive stereotypical english accent with poor dialogue that gets annoying the first time you hear it. the graphics are sub-par , but from a mod why would you expect more? i'l tell you why; because this Mod makes you pay for it, and it is certiantly not worth it. Killingfloor should essentially be free, or it should drastically improve. its no Garrry's Mod, its no Team fortress ( which was orignally a mod ) I cant understand the fuss being generated over this mediocre peice of work. If you like an extremely limited game with alot of weaponry, one reptitive mode , under-developed features and graphics that maby back in 2003 would have been good - then get this game. If you enjoy something which actually feels like it was developed by proffesionals , get something else. Paying for this game is simply appauling. Expand

I also liked the holiday events that tripwire had updated to for each up coming holiday. But now it seems like with the new achievements that are added there is a bit of a monopoly going on. What i mean is you have to buy weapon pack or even another games in order to get these achievements. That flat out ruined my rating on this game for the out come of what i spent on the game for newer skins and now I am not able to get achievements until I purchase "Dwarfs!?" not the free version but the retail one at $9.99. It had some bad stuff, like not enough time to buy stuff, not enough weapons, etc.
But as they made updates, the Normal difficulty got harder, so now on beginner, it is too easy. And on Normal, it's too hard. They completely ruined the entire game, it was fun while it lasted though.

  1. Killing Floor is a zombie game that lacks brain and own ideas. In the main part it's simply a Left 4 Dead clone with boring maps and graphics. But Killing Floor's emphasis on tactical gameplay, the solid coop mode and the cheap prize make the game worth a look.
  2. Tripwire Interactives Killing Floor is what you would expect of a polished mod, but doesn't exceed expectations as a retail game. It's good, but unfortunately far from perfect. A nice addition to the survival-horror genre though, and it has an attractively cheap price tag.
