The message of the movies is that you can’t control nature, but Jurassic World Evolution 2 hits back by saying, “We’ll let you try anyway.” And I succeeded numerous times over nearly 20 hours with this park builder. Jurassic World Evolution 2 let me correct the sins of the past by corralling loose dinosaurs and building one of the most famous movie settings in history. And it let me do it my way while also making me feel like I’d succeeded where others failed.
  2. Crucially though, just as I would one hundred percent go to a real-world Jurassic Park despite the near-certainty of getting hypermaimed in a portaloo, I will one hundred percent keep mooning over this game’s wonderful dinosaurs, right up to the point where my attention span is chewed to bits by micromanagement raptors.

"Jurassic world devolution too: a non adventure 65 million years in the making!

Quick summary: if you loved jwe1 you'll be frustrated. If you didn't there is nothing for you here.

As a huge J Park fan and fan of park games I loved the deeply flawed first game and was disappointed the devs chose to make bad dlc and never fix the many launch day issues which reviews pick up on. As a community we worked very closely with the devs over the last 3 years to ensure they understood what was wrong with the first game. Im sorry to say they have not listened at all or they pretended to. JWE2 is
a game of things which should have been included last launch and problems fixed in the first year but with added grind.

As a huge fan and franchise vegeran I can say that these 10/10 reviews and promises that a perfect game has been perfected are either fake or delusional as this game is a mess.

I really wanted to like this game but it's deeply flawed to the point of broken from a gameplay stand point and all too often a technical one.

1). the campaign is a poorly made 3hr tutorial (barely a story) which gives you simple tasks and then abruptly ends. But you'll need to finish it to unlock in the actual mode you want to play e.g. sandbox. 2). Pointless reputation. Pointless repetition ;) You will be forced to do the same thing again and again as the game pads out it's play time so the devs could lie it was a 20 plus hr game. The game will have you endlessly fixing the most simple thing and micro managing every decision with little automation. They added these scientists who are just brain dead busy work and need every tasks done for them. And everything now breaks every few minutes. It's crazy.

3). New additions like the water lagoon / avary / baby dino area are a joke. Don't expect actual water physics as the dinosaur just floats in air but you can't enter the water (try driving in it and it's like tarmac lol) and the dino won't interact outside of it. The level of customisation is almost non existence and overall very poor. I wish they would let modders help them and customise this game in ways we actually want. The avary is just a sad empty space inside and you can't build rocks or trees for dino birds. And same is true for hatchings. Its all extremely limited and not remotely like planet zoo or coaster. It's more like a cash grab recycled game without the core complaints addressed.

4). The entire game is more like medium size dlc. It's very much like the first one and not remotely like a fleshed out sequel. Almost copy and paste at times but with added grind. Honestly the game feels and plays like a mobile game as if it's been ported over. Same graphics engine but with more issues. Also The game feels like it exists simply to promote the new film but not in a positive way. You're given the basics of the plot but no details and no conclusion. And don't expect any camp creatatuous cross over.

5). On pc it has many game breaking bugs and many small visual glitches and you'll need a decent pc to run on high settings. Still no multiplayer as we had hoped for or anything like an invasion or play other people's parks etc. The new modes like chaos are missed opportunities and again the game fails to even explain it self. But it adds layers of additional complexity which make it more time consuming but not fun. It's boring in a way the first one was not.

6). The music and sound and graphics are mostly good. The voice work is fine and has a few expensive film stars. All the stuff you've All ready seen is still here. There are a few new additions but they're more after thoughts for marketing than game changers. But the ai is shockingly poor and the dinosaurs do not feel alive like planet zoo and the visitors are generic clones.

Summary: Honestly I don't know what such respected competent devs were thinking beyond making cash as the game is very expensive and not a true sequel and not worth it's asking cost. It feels like content has been removed and is going to be sold back to us as well. And that was a real problem with the first game dlc. For this price with this little content it should all be free.

I can not recommend this game in it's current state and I'm deeply saddened by the devs duplicity and overall lack of low effort when you compare this to their other amazing products. Do not believe the gushing reviews and if possible play for yourself. But be aware after the refund period the game quality drops off significantly which I'm guessing isn't an coincidence.

There are better dino sim games coming out but this is not one of them. Buy on a deep sale or play the first one.

Ultimately this is a hard review to make. As I have been very excited for this game it truly does feel rushed and underwhelming. It feels moreUltimately this is a hard review to make. As I have been very excited for this game it truly does feel rushed and underwhelming. It feels more like a giant dlc expansion for the first game and very much does not have all the components if a traditional Frontier Dev game.

    Campaigns:
The campaign is one large tutorial that cam be completed in under 2 hours. You could finish the "campaign" and return it under steam requirements. There are sub campaigns that cover all 5 previous movies that are made to clearly compensate the main campaign and they are ALSO larger tutorials.

    Sandbox/Challenges:
Ultimately the game aims to push you towards the challenges mode and sandbox...all of wish have to be unlocked through game play. While these modes are fun to work up to they are not what the game was functionally built to provide. The first game was one huge lengthy campaign that made you feel like you were building up the the last island. This game gives tons of separate unconnected scenarios that essentially start you from scratch without the satisfaction of the previous installment.

    Mechanics:
This is by far the best rework of their original game. If they essentially released JWE1 with the mechanics of JWE2, they would have the perfect dino park builder of all time. The reworks are smooth and give a good satisfaction when building your park. This does not however make the game feel great all the time as it does have dozens of mechanics that when put together can easily overwhelm the player and make it all somewhat clunky.

Overall: This game has immense potential but it feels like the developers were afraid to go too far and be too ambitious prior to the release of Jurassic World Dominion. It's as if Universal didn't want them to reveal the movies intentions so they simply made it a sandbox experience instead of providing the great quality that they aspired to give to their gamers. The game is enjoyable but clearly lacks the spirit of its predecessor and needs some more work from the developers before it is the game it deserves to be. If at some point there is more feeling put into the game then this review may be liable to change back to a positive rating.
