Set in Louisiana in 1895, the game boasts a mixture of PvP and PvE elements that creates a uniquely tense experience. It’s not just the creatures who are a threat—it’s every Hunter on the map. In the classic game mode, a match of Hunt pits ten players—playing solo or in teams of two—against each other as they race to take out gruesome beasts for a bounty they must collect and get off of the map, while Hunt’s quickplay mode offers a shorter match for solo players to scavenge for weapons as they compete for a diminishing pool of bounty. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost everything. Expand

The learning curve is a bastard and, while the matchmaking is generally pretty good in terms of finding you opponents, you’re going to die again and again, in awful and hideous ways. It’s grim and beautiful, with no single-player mode outside of the tutorial. And if that sounds awesome – and honestly it is – then you know what to do.

Little did I know that in being tasked with capturing gameplay for week one of early access that Hunt: Showdown would go on to become one of my all-time favorite video games. I’ve actually had to refrain from expressing many of the countless aspects I love. Fortunately, for Hunt’s sake, the majority of its glaring issues were resolved prior to the launch of 1.0. Aside from rare connection issues, Hunt: Showdown is unequivocally one of the best PvPvE experiences of this generation. It’s certainly not for everyone, but if you’re a junkie for hardcore, competitive, survival-based multiplayer in a horrific setting, I strongly recommend paying a visit to the bayou.

Hunt: Showdown is a unique entry in online multiplayer from Crytek who brought tons innovations to the genre. Poor server quality aside, which can be easily fixed in the future, Hunt: Showdown is one of the most unique games in recent years.

The work is raw, but not ruthless to the point of being frustrating, especially for those who are used to the "winner takes all" policy.

Hunt: Showdown doesn’t try to do a lot of things beyond its core mission, and the challenging gameplay and limited selection of maps — though they are expansive and interesting — might be a barrier to long-term enjoyment. Assuming the developers keep infusing the game with content, Hunt: Showdown is a fresh take on the genre that has already become a bit stale.

Hunt: Showdown is a clever, hard-nosed FPS that doesn't have enough substance to be truly essential yet.

There's a lot that works in Hunt: Showdown, from its setting and creatures design to its strong blend of PvE and PvP action. Like the bayou, the game first appears sort of quaint, unique, and interesting to explore. But below the surface, once you get into the thick weeds of it, you end up feeling like there's plenty of places you'd wish to have traveled.

If you like the tactical combat of PUBG but were yearning for something with more soul and better graphics - this is your game.

The environments and graphics are phenomenal. The level is the best looking and most immersive I have played in any multiplayer video game.

Progression system is interesting, rewarding skilled players. The weapons are all useful and interesting, with nothing trashy. It would be nice if you could pickup items from dead players though.

There have been some small technical issues, one 'freeze' of the game requiring sign out of windows, and FPS is about 45 with my 1070. Given the slower pace of combat, this is not really a problem, and a fair tradeoff given how beautiful the environments are. Given the bargain price of $30 during Early Access, I'm willing to accept some roughness.

    Highly recommended.

The atmosphere is a typical horror game, but differing from most you never get to the point in which zombies are simply cannon fodder for overpowered weapons and skills. You need a lot of planning to progress properly through the levels. There are a few points I found most to my liking, for one you don't need to finish objectives to extract, which makes perfect sense, seeing as the game has permadeath and you need to get a new character every time one of your roster dies. Secondly the sound of the game is so spot on I actually suspect that this is a game built around the amazing sound engine rather than the other way around. Camping is not an option as you literally will get nowhere if that's what you decide to do. You may sneak in a few kills but generally you won't progress faster than if you actually play the game as intended. Every encounter with other players is adrenaline inducing (except for the few cases in which you will get headshotted before you even notice anyone). That being said, the game doesn't come without a few short comings. What I didn't like was the lack of variety of maps/bosses, which may be fixed later on. Game has come a long way optimization wise, but it still has a fairly long way to go. Gun handling is not the best, but I can't point that out as a con, seeing as it is intended due to the age of the guns, that being said they made a great job of balancing all the guns in the game. Overall it is a very niche game but a must play to any mature FPS gamer! Expand

Aún así cabe destacar el mal rendimiento que sufre en pc desde la salida oficial al mercado, espero que se solucione pronto.

Just frustration, nothing else.

Crytek just a greedy managers, not even gamedevs anymore. I feel disgust and sorry for old Crytek team was removed from this project and now it's just getting worse and worse with every patch. Drains more and more cash with some "OH NO, IT'S NOT IMBALANCED, IT'S VISIBLE AS HELL" DLC hunters and other things that just... well... no words.

Hunt Showdown RIP since release. Crytek doesn't deserve any coin invested into their work. Hope they all will be fired and will never have even a small chance to work in gamedev.

No idea why this game has 7.3 coz since release and some patches it should be 0.5 User Score. Critics like always likes to lick some arses for money. No way i would recommend to buy this game.
