    My favorite Shooter over the last years.
    Before getting the game I was very skeptical as it is not my facorite setting (old weapons, zombies, etc), but I came out to be my favorite shooter.

    Playing this game about two years and it still did not get bored. It has some bugs from time to time, but the game mechanic and audio is amazing. It is one of the best games so far.

    The best experience of the game is that you remember almost each fight. I remember I felt something like that in DayZ. Also, there is very interesting interaction between systems, PvPvE is also great. Recommend!

    This game really didn't click for me. I understood that the game was partly PVP and partly PVE but has a matter of fact most of the monsters in level are really easy to take down except the main boss that in 10 matches I didn't see at all because other players already killed before me, so at the very end this game is a pure PVP experience, also the main menu is bloated with lot of optionsThis game really didn't click for me.     Ich finde das Gunplay mega. Man muss einfach aufpassen wo man läuft, was man schlägt oder zerstört. Hier wird ein gutes Stereo Headset einfach vorausgesetzt. Das Audio Mapping ist der Hammer. Man kann jedes Geräusch identifizieren was es ist und wo es auch herkommt.
    Thema Cheater: Ja es gibt Cheats und Hacks für das Spiel aber Erfahrungsgemäß begegnet man nur sehr wenigen Cheatern.
    Das Game macht zu zweit oder dritt am meisten Spaß. Aber auch alleine gegen Trios ist es durchaus spielbar und man muss sich nun mal darauf einstellen. Ich gehe als Solo z.B. nie auf den Boss, sondern nur auf Spieler.
    Dieses Spiel ist mit keinem anderen vergleichbar. Und jeder der hier andere Shooter als Vergleich nimmt, ist fehl am Platz.    … Expand

    Tja was soll man über Hunt: Showdown schon sagen? Etwa dass die Kämpfe brutal und erbarmungslos sind? Oder die Lernkurve zwischen X- und Y-Achse ein fast gerader Strich nach oben ist? Sicherlich ein bisschen von beidem. Entscheidend aber ist, dass Hunt: Showdown ein über alle Maßen atmosphärisches Spiel ist... zumindest wenn man es mit einem entsprechenden Headset spielt. Dann aber wirdTja was soll man über Hunt: Showdown schon sagen? Etwa dass die Kämpfe brutal und erbarmungslos sind? Oder die Lernkurve zwischen X- und Y-Achse ein fast gerader Strich nach oben ist? Sicherlich ein bisschen von beidem. Entscheidend aber ist, dass Hunt: Showdown ein über alle Maßen atmosphärisches Spiel ist... zumindest wenn man es mit einem entsprechenden Headset spielt. Dann aber wird Hunt zu einem audiovisuellen Meisterwerk und man könnte es fast soweit treiben, das Spiel ohne hinzusehen zu spielen, da es sich so viel über den Ton gibt. Davon würde ich aber aufgrund dessen abraten, da man durchaus sehr präzise, teils auf große Distanzen schießen muss. Die Grafik ist bestimmt kein Meilenstein wie einst Crysis, kann aber mit entsprechende Hardware trotzdem gut aussehen und dabei angemessene Frames auf den Bildschirm zaubern. Das Spiel lässt sicher aber auch problemlos auf älterer Hardware spielen, da es nicht besonders hohe Systemleistungen erfordert. Klar gibt es aktuell mit nur drei spielbaren Karten nicht die riesem Auswahl wie bei einem COD oder anderen Shooterkonkurrenten. Das braucht das Spiel aber auch nicht, da jedes Match von Grund auf anders abläuft und so viel Spannung herrscht, dass die Maps fast zur Nebensache verkommen. Auch die vier Bosse die es zu jagen gilt, sind alle unterschiedlich designed und haben verschieden Fähigkeiten und erfordern verschiedene Herangehensweisen. Vorteilhaft ist es aber, wenn man sich stets leise verhält. Denn ein zu lautes Auftreten kann einem raschen imgame Tod zur Folge haben. Und eure Jäger, einmal getötet, bleiben Tod und ihr müsst von vorne anfangen. Die ist besonders ärgerlich da man mit jedem Jägerstufenaufstieg verschieden Sonderfähigkeiten freischaltet, die euren Jäger noch effizienter machen. So kann dieser z.B. aus einem Medipack mehr Heilung herausziehen oder mit einem sogenannten Hahnspannrevolver schneller schießen. Diese Fähigkeiten werden nach und nach in eurem Arsenal freigeschaltet. Startet ihr mit eurem Profil zunächst auf Level 1, habt ihr bis Level 11 eine Schonfrist und eure Jäger (die unabhängig davon bis Level 50 aufsteigen können) leiden nicht unter dem berüchtigtem Dauertod. Danach allerdings schon. So steigt ihr also bis Level 100 auf und schaltet dabei allerhand neue Fähigkeiten, Waffen und Ausrüstungsgegenstände wie Dynamit, Gegengiftspritzen oder Stolperfallen frei. Diese Tools richtig eingesetzt, können euren Jägeralltag aber auch etwas angenehmer machen. Zuletzt noch ein Wort zum Support des Spiels. Hier werden von Crytek regelmäßig sogenannte Mini DLC's releases. Diese beinhalten meistens einen legendären Jäger und alternative Waffenskins. Alles also vernachlässigbar und rein kosmetischer Natur. Die Highlites hingegen sind die großen Events, bei denen man ebenfalls legendäre Jäger und Waffenskins freischalten kann, ohne dabei echtes Geld ausgeben zu müssen. Das Fortschrittssystem ist dabei fair und auch in der vorgegebenen Zeit sollte es auch jeder Durchschnittsspieler schaffen, entsprechend weit zu kommen. Abschließend bleibt also nur noch zu sagen, dass mir das Spiel auch nach 500 Spielstunden noch großen Spaß bereitet und jeder Abschuss ein sehr befriedigendes Gefühl verbreitet. Auf neue Maps und Bosse muss man zwar zu weilen lange warten, aber dafür sind diese dann auch sehr durchdacht und bringen ihre ganz eigenen kleinen Mechaniken und Feinheiten mit.     -sometimes there are game changing bugs

    Why I stopped playing? Because after 2000h it just isn´t that compelling anymore. I´m also not particular a fan of the events and when I am such invested in a game, I develop an urge to unlock everything and have every single Item. But sometimes I just want to play some other games or need to learn for college or something like that. But recently the developers just released to much content and I just can´t keep up if I don´t want to invest more real money.
    But I can recommend everyone to try this game. Only Problem is you need something in the neighbourhood of 10h to know if Hunt is the game for you. But on Steam you only can return it within the first 2h. So you should have enough money to not worry about investing 25€ in something you don´t like.    … Expand

    Hunt Showdown is one of the most boring and ratting-enhancing games that I've ever played. Not to mention terrible networking code and randomization of mobs spawn and agro. If you want to waste your time and get **** by terrible game design feel free to put your money into this garbage bin

Die Spannung die ständig herrscht ist unglaublich und wenn man die Pocke mit nachhause nimmt, nachdem man unter Blut, Schweiß und Tränen, seine Gegenspieler ausgeschaltet hat, ist einfach nur ein einziger Rausch. Its hard so maybe not everybody will like it, but its so rewarding. the gunplay is awasome and the atmosphere the game makes... ugh i love it. almost everything in this games is the best, sound, graphics are pretty good and the map design. would recommend 10/10

    A breath of fresh air in the fps genre is what hunt showdown truly is. Unique gunplay, unique worldbuilding, unique monster designs. Everything is unique and novel. This game gets your adrenaline pumping like no other and that is why I keep coming back. If you are tired of generic fps games and want to try something new and challenging, this is the game for you.

    Best multiplayer game out as of now. I highly recommend. The audio is the best in any game and that makes it way more tactical always questioning if someone heard that you scared a crow or shot a gun or even stepped on a tree branch.

    Great team shooter with a unique and fresh setting. The game has its flaws but overall the feeling of landing a shot and getting the kill is very rewarding. I love the guns and the hunters and really dont mind buying cosmetics to help support the devs. Best played in teams of two or three but solo players can still have fun too. Just be prepared the learning curve is harsh and you WILL die.

    This is absolutely the best FPS in recent years. Ambiance and atmosphere are an easy 10/10, but the biggest part to that is that it's not just aesthetics. The atmosphere its self is a major aspect to the whole experience. The gun play is unlike anything I have played which is perfectly challenging. The amount of effort put into sound in general is astounding which again is a tool usedThis is absolutely the best FPS in recent years. Ambiance and atmosphere are an easy 10/10, but the biggest part to that is that it's not just aesthetics. The atmosphere its self is a major aspect to the whole experience. The gun play is unlike anything I have played which is perfectly challenging. The amount of effort put into sound in general is astounding which again is a tool used heavily in this game. There are plenty of games that require a little patience and a little urgency in varying doses however I can not think of another that requires maximum patience and maximum urgency at a moments notice. Developers are responsive and pump out a lot of events and mechanical tweaks very regularly. This game just has an amazing amount of soul and care put into it, something missing in most modern games. 11/10 if anyone takes a few hours to familiarize yourself with all of the mechanics and the flow of matches I guarantee you will have a blast.… Expand

    - Performance Issues and Server Issues during the event that conveniently disallows you to get the skins unless you literally "play" the game as a second job. Or, just pay 30 USD ;)
    - Literally same events, only change is how they try to charge you for things ripped from the progression bar.
    - meridian turncoat dlc is a farce. The hunter from the traitor's moon event trailer seems to be ripped from the game and repackaged into a new dlc.
    The dlc is priced for 4 skins:
    - the alleged event free hunter
    - a pair of dolches that is only marginally different
    - and the only unique ammo box skin
    - Asia servers are disgustingly crowded in the evening when everyone is expected to come online. constant red package loss, high ping, getting disconnected every 3 minutes and 3~8 secs hit reg delay is the norm.
    - No compensation for wasted event boosters, paid or not even though you literally cannot play the game due to server down/full as it ticks down whether you are in game or not.
    - For their convenience, forces pc-console parity. Meta AoE weapons in console unfairly nerfed in pc
    - conveniently forces unready patch to go live despite player feedback.
    - shadow anti-player changes that no one asked for that suspiciously encourages spending bloodbonds.
    - UI is still a mess. Things aren't where they should.
    - reconnect feature is wonky at best. makes you wait for 20mins and reconnection isn't even guaranteed.

    If the structure of this review is **** just know that so is the game.
    Core gameplay is like no other. But the game is becoming another mtx **** real fast.

    TL;DR hunt showdown is in its worst state since release and Crytek is pushing microtransactions in expense of the players.    … Expand

Many people complain about server issues, but after 100 hours I've only expirirenced a couple of visual bugs(hud overlay and missing textures) that were fixed by reconnecting to the game. Also this game is not for everyone. Some people will consider it boring, but others will spend hundreds of hours.     The development team maintains a good range of updates and events, all with substantial changes and good surprises, often takes too long, in my opinion they should expand their staff to improve this aspect.

    Another thing to work on would be the implementation of a training mode more geared towards new players. Several times I hear/read comments from people reporting that they gave up playing early, because they were too frustrated for not being able to stay alive enough to get used to it.

    Again, this game is tough, and the player base has a lot of veterans (from 3 to 6 stars) with lots of hours of play, expect to get shot where you least expect it.

    Do yourself a favor and buy this game and persevere. Git Gud!    … Expand

And if you get disconnected you likely loose your character with everything he has. Unluckily I got permanently banned there (I'm not gonna lie, I got it for a legitimate reason but nothing that was worth a permaban IMHO) And once you lose access to the Official Discord you're not able to find teammates you can properly communicate with. The game is already are not very friendly for new players and doesn't have a huge player base, so I don't know what all those complications for.… Expand

In my 300 hours I have only encountered 0 crashes 3 disconnects and 0 game breaking bugs (or really any bugs in general) pleas do yourself a favor and get this game. The only negative I can really think of is that it is hard… like really really hard. But if you can get through the first couple of hours and understand the game mechanics you will not be disappointed .… Expand

    I'm very confused by the negative reviews since I don't find them to match reality at all. One said there's no practice mode, there is, it's literally called training mode. Along with tons of single-player challenges that help sharpen your skills.

    The same reviewer said you'll be matched with max-level players. Not true. I've never seen one max-level player. There's a robust elo rating system that matches you with players that have the same skill level and I find it works well.

    A reviewer said if you choose to play solo you're only matched against teams. Again, not true. There's a quickplay mode where EVERYONE is solo. It's frustrating seeing reviews from people that play one match of one of the best games I've ever played and give it a ZERO OUT OF TEN. I think it speaks to their intelligence.

Shotguns and snipers are also ridiculous.

    Shotguns, when firing at you, even if they miss cause the player on the relieving end to flinch, so that you (likely the better player actually trying to aim your rifle or pistol) can no longer aim as some noob shotgun spams you....putting reticules on fast firing, accurate weapons is also dumb. The skill of lining up iron sights at 100m or more is now being overshon by noobs spamming a deadeye pistol until they get a lucky headshot.

    Teamming is also a HUGE deal on Australia servers, the amount of times i've spectated players after being ganged up on both on quickplay and duos is disgusting, and this toxic behaviour isn't monitoring or discourgaed, in fact it's encouraged. It's game breaking and these players should be banned.

    The stuttering in the game is breaking it beyond belief too. I get 100 frames and 50 ping yet randomly i get stutters for 10mins at a time. This can even happen during fights and obviously, to a massive determent. I know this stuttering is very common to all players and i understand it's a server issue. It's really bad form on the devs part.

    It's a shame because the game has so much potential but it won't last long and all there will be are hardcore fans playing it until a better developer does the concept much better.

The portrayal of late XIX century Louisiana is amazing and very indepth. Every aspect of the game relies around sound. And you can make a point that a lot of game do that. But not on that scale. Everything in the game makes unique sound. Everything is balanced around your ability to hear. The time period is another thing which makes the game stand out because how many comepetetive and serious FPSes set in the wild west era do you have on market? Not a lot if any at all. The game feels balanced and about 90% of the time you'll feel that the only thing which matters are your actual abilites rather than your or your opponent's loadout. The sci-fi implemented into the game introduces PvE mechanics which make gameplay more interesting and give players objective to fight over rather than just surviving till being the last one alive. The differs so much from other BR games and feels like it had a lot of thought put into it rather than just copy pasting the trends from the past. It's really worth giving it a shot but game itself is 30 euro so I'd rather wait for than paying full price for it. There are DLCs but they're purely cosmetics which don't have any advantage in game. And my only con is that the game can get repetetive after a couple hundred hours but devs are keep on working on the game polishing it to the best of their abilities and adding new features usually in huge content drop updates formula.… Expand

    Gameplay is slower compared to Cod, BF and Siege, but way more enjoyable, at least for me.
    I already played over 500 hours during the early access phase and im still learning new things regulary.

Leveling up your hunter will let you equip more traits useful for your survival and when you die, you will lose your hunter, as well as any weapons or consumables in your inventory. Leveling up your profile, on the other hand, lets you “unlock” those traits which you can equip your hunters with. Death does not affect your profile level. This is a good balance in the sense that death does have serious consequences, but not to the point that it’s extremely frustrating. Picking up a new hunter (which you will keep doing) and leveling up is always fun and offers a new challenge.

    When you kill a boss, you will extract a “bounty”, which will also let you see the nearby hunters when using “dark sight”. This gives a huge advantage for besting other hunters, as it is not easy to spot careful hunters. One of the main strengths of Hunt: Showdown is this. It’s not a game about aiming well. In fact, aiming in this game is quite poor when you compare to other multiplayer shooters. It’s about observation, predicting other hunters’ next steps and preparing for them. And when you manage to learn the game enough to kill a hunter by outsmarting them (not a random kill), it feels so satisfying.

    Some words about the sound design. This could be the best video game ever made in that aspect. First, you make sounds by stepping on a branch, walking close to an animal, by pretty much everything unless you make extra effort to be silent. When you make a sound, you attract other hunters to your location. This also means you have to pay attention and listen, use other hunters’ carelessness to your advantage. That said, there is always the chance a hunter is trying to attract you to her/his location as part of a strategy. Oh well…

    There are some weak points about Hunt: Showdown. As discussed earlier, aiming is not so good. There are only a couple of maps. Also, the game is not good at presentation. For a game with such deep mechanics, it does not do a good job educating a new player. I can imagine many players giving up without ever learning all the game mechanics. But if you give it time, learn the game to the point you start outsmarting other hunters, it will give you immense satisfaction.

    Hunt: Showdown is not perfect, but when it clicks, there is nothing quite like it.

    - Incredible models, costumes, skins
    - Maps are very well designed
    - AI is just smart enough and adds a huge layer to PVP (PVE)
    - Game play is slower, methodical and VERY VERY heart pumping and nerve-wracking
    - Sound is absolutely the best Iv'e ever experienced in a title
    - Gunplay, balance and feel is incredible..

    Gioco molto valido, ma infestato da russi/est europa. Lagswitcher a palla, cheating a livelli squallidi, svariati bug, pessimo team di sviluppo, prezzo esagerato, la notte e' completamente ingiocabile causa una pessima via di mezzo tra "notte illuminata" e "non si vede un ♥♥♥♥♥"... sarebbe meglio avere una notte completamente nera, dove si usano laterne etc.

    In parole povere un FPS che rasenta il capolavoro, ma per colpa di un team di sviluppo indiceso e che prende pessime decisioni e una discreta (enorme, IMMENSA) quantita' di cheaters, lagswitcher o problemi vari di hitbox (verso player e non) raggiunge sempre piu' uno stato di totale ingiocabilita'.

    A mio parere basterebbe un filtro per "ping" o simili, e una rinnovata/aggiornata/cambiata al sistema anti cheat (o in caso una KILLCAM e un maggior numero di persone al reparto "assitenza/segnalazioni"), e qualche contenuto extra (MAGARI NON SQUALLIDE ED INUTILI SKIN) e tornerebbe ad essere il gioco affascinante che era quando lo acquistai ormai 2 anni fa.    … Expand

    A very good example is a grenade that was broken and everyone knew it. Normal devs would just temporarily remove the grenade from the game until they are repaired. Devs of this game haven't done anything for half a year, maybe more. They didn't care about the complaints of the players and the fact that it causes inconvenience. This is a very good example of how they feel about their community. They don't care about anything but money. They are greedy, stupid, self-righteous people.

    Cheaters with whom no one does anything. I have several videos of real cheaters with wall hack and aim. I recorded video in surveillance mode and sent the video to the site with all the data. They can say anything about how many cheaters they banned, but these are their words. My observations indicate that they do not ban anyone who has private cheats, even if there is video evidence.

    This game's engine and networking code is just garbage. It's a shame. You will constantly get stuck somewhere, fall from stairs, from the edge of the roof, cling to each other if you are running alongside, and much more. To face this, you need to play for more than 10 hours so that you can see what is really happening.
    There are very bad servers here. I think the servers are the cheapest. It is impossible to play with high online, damage registration becomes even worse, ping grows, and so on.

You can wait 40 minutes until someone leaves the building. It happens all the time. Do not expect long, honest open firefights. Headshot through the wall. Headshot through the slot.     This game is beyond broken. It's outrageous thate they take this much money for such little content. You get two maps. You get three bosses. And then they have the audacity to throw a goddamn **** of skins in your face, along with quote on quote "DLC" which is just skins for 10euro.

The game will seem fun for the first hours of playing with some friends, but then it slowly shows the bugs one at a time. So now the game just looks like **** The nights are more like "slightly dark" than they actually showed. When a game was looking better in the alpha than in the official release. You know something is wrong. To sum up why you should'nt give these ****heads your money. They dont fix bugs, they only add skins instead of new content like they keep promising.     Best and most innovative multiplayer FPS game I've played in years. Steep learning curve and very hard, but incredibly rewarding and unique -- do yourself a favor and pick this up. Also, the tech is stunning. Game runs well and looks outstanding.

    The PvE action still destroys me on occasion and can be especially awful when in the middle of a PvP moment.     The only reason I’m not giving it a solid 10 is because there is a wee bit of menu/equipment functionality that could be improved upon. Like, in Fortnite you can move items in inventory around into specific slots and give bullets to team mates, but this isn’t possible in Hunt yet. It’s a small detail and probably doesn’t warrant deducting a whole point but I can’t score it a 10 because of it and there is no 9.9 option. There are a few points I found most to my liking, for one you don't need to finish objectives to extract, which makes perfect sense, seeing as the game has permadeath and you need to get a new character every time one of your roster dies. Secondly the sound of the game is so spot on I actually suspect that this is a game built around the amazing sound engine rather than the other way around. Camping is not an option as you literally will get nowhere if that's what you decide to do. You may sneak in a few kills but generally you won't progress faster than if you actually play the game as intended. Every encounter with other players is adrenaline inducing (except for the few cases in which you will get headshotted before you even notice anyone). That being said, the game doesn't come without a few short comings. What I didn't like was the lack of variety of maps/bosses, which may be fixed later on. Game has come a long way optimization wise, but it still has a fairly long way to go. Gun handling is not the best, but I can't point that out as a con, seeing as it is intended due to the age of the guns, that being said they made a great job of balancing all the guns in the game.     This game is for me, the best online fps I played in 2019/2020.

    Hunt Showdown is amazingly well balanced in each part of the gameplay (the sounds, the maps advantages, the time to kill and the time to death....)

    The only problems I got with this game is the INCREDIBLE amount of cheaters in there and the fact that you have no killcam or any equivalence.

    Must be played with friends. Matchmaking is a disaster and you'll most likely be dropped from some pro trying to match with someone a descent level. The gameplay is beautiful but tends to be a bit repetitive. There could easily be more monsters added to this long-running game.

    So..great graphics, great sound, great shooting what could be wrong in such a title.
    Well, first off the matchmaking isn't exactly fair and square, you'll be often teamed against very strong players that will surely destroy you in a blink, secondly you could be teamed against cheaters and those are not very common but also not very rare.
    Another huge problem is connectivity and hit scans, you will sometimes die because of lag or server crash and sometimes your shot won't even land and hit properly.
    Not to mention the lack of new content as in new maps and new bosses.
    I like the game but i wouldn't really recommend it to anyone, however this game definetly needs some more players to actually fix the matchmaking issues.

    To me this would be a 5/10 but since the developpers seems to actually care about some of its problems i assign it a 6/10.    … Expand

    second...be prepared to aim your crosshairs at a target, fire, and have it not do anything. it will happen to you ALL THE TIME. and meanwhile, your opponents will ALWAYS get headshots, one shot, the first shot, and you will have no chance to respond. Your opponents will NEVER miss even when you have superior positioning, even when you take initiative, even when you take your time to line up your shots, your opponents will ALWAYS turn (without REALLY knowing where you are) and kill you instantly, even though you carefully setup the scenario by making superior plays to your opponents

    If the actual aiming and firing part wasn't bad enough, your opponents will kill you through solid brick walls and these boxes that are not "penatrable" and other surfaces that bullets cannot penetrate in real life, so hiding in cover or concealment will never work. nice job crytek.

    third...the worst matchmaking ever. as a new player, expect to go up against 3.0 kd tryhards that team up and play together regularly. and as a random match, if you are a 3.0 kd, hardmode on. you will ONLY have level 0 noobs on your team and you will only go up against the same type of before-mentioned scenario.

    crytek, this is the first game i have tried of yours. needless to say, i will never be purchasing one of your products ever again. consistency is what i look for, and this game feels so rough around the edges like you ran out of budget. i have so many videos of just WTF from this garbage game, that you have solidified in me the idea that i will never purchase another product from you ever again.    … Expand

    I understand that the game is probably heavy for the PS4, but overall I'm happy. Playing with a friend is very nice, though the downloads are very long. Please make the control in the menu on the arrows because the control of the stick is extremely inconvenient and slow. Or at least add the ability to increase the speed of the marker.

Lastly the competitive aspect, it's bad. There is no matchmaker, when you try to join team game, people end up leaving you because you're new and too low of a level.     Hunt: Showdown is a great blend of battle royale and survival horror; one that is an enjoyable, but also unbelievably tense, and merciless gaming experience. Apart from being quite rough around the edges, its unrelenting nature (courtesy of its surprisingly cruel permadeath mechanic), and almost awful matchmaking logic, make this a game for only a few - a few who must put hundreds of work on it, if they don't won't to spend most of their time staring at the words "You're Dead!"
