Lacking the sharpness needed by both shooters and comedy, High on Life is a low point in the gaming calendar.

High on Life just isn’t very good, and there’s not much more to say. I think a lot of people are taking the route of ‘well, if you love this humour you might enjoy it’, but I already do love this humour and I did not enjoy it. It’s the ghost of video games past, with boring shooting and a bafflingly slim progression loop propped up by bad jokes that feel like some bros on a podcast writing their own Interdimensional Cable skits. It’s free on Game Pass, but your time on this planet is precious. Give this one a miss.

Despite the way-too-chatty guns (for what it's worth, there's options for that), High on Life ends up being a pretty fun shooter in a colorful and ridiculously stupid sci-fi world. It's not reinventing the wheel with its combat, but it doesn't really have to in order to be an alright time. The boss fights are surprisingly enjoyable and the game's exploration is satisfying, with upgrades and unlocks that open the world gradually, in a way that reminds me a bit of Ratchet and Clank. High on Life's crass humor is an understandable balk point for many — and the first hour or two is unrelentingly... well, Roilandy — but if you can push past the bad first impression, it's a good ol' competent FPS. [Quick Look]

Comedy and beautiful game. A person who is a fan of Rick and Morty will like the game

The gun play is slow and unsatisfying, and the modification system does little to help that. For a game thay is primarily a first person shooter this is a mortal sin. The game play itself is the farthest you can get from being innovative with literally every facet being recycled from older games that almost universally did it better. It's not all negative, though. The writing IS good, and prompted a hearty chuckle at times. The scenery is well made and colorful, and the level design functional and has a decent flow.

Final verdict: good in every area that a player doesn't interact with. Bad in every way that makes it a game. They should stick to writing shows/movies.

Massive disappointment. The humour is mediocre at best and just straight up cringe at worst. As someone who love's Rick and Morty, it reallyMassive disappointment. The humour is mediocre at best and just straight up cringe at worst. As someone who love's Rick and Morty, it really feels they're really scrapping the bottom of the barrel with these jokes. As for the gameplay, it's pretty bad. Gunplay feels stiff and there's not enough variation in guns or how you go about killing enemies. Overall, the game just sucks. Only reason I'm giving it a 5 is because some of the locations are pretty cool looking and I respect that they were trying to do something different. Oh, and the performance is terrible on PC, too.
