It has some good ideas, but the execution is flawed. The game ends up really, really grindy. First your base stats and abilities are so underpowered you have to chain run levels and collect a ton of relics which persist through a run but disappear when you die. If you don't have those relics you can't kill anything in the later levels. There's multiple zones of 5 levels each and once you get to a zone you can continue from there, but there's no point in doing so cus you need to re-run the prior zones to have enough relics to proceed.

The classes are decently fleshed out but horribly balanced. A couple are extremely easy and many are just plain bad. Also too many passive abilities on many of the classes, making the gameplay kind of dull.

Finally there are a lot of bugs. You can get stuck behind objects, enemies can get knocked to areas out of play so you can't loot them, levels reset if you go inside dungeons and you can do multiple boss fights (this might be intentional but seems weird) and the higher difficulties don't unlock correctly. That's the few I found. I also couldn't get the multiplayer to work at all.

Overall I beat the game once on the Viking character and it was some mindless fun, took about 6 hours, but I won't be playing this again. Still it goes on sale for like $2 quite often so you can't really go wrong purchasing it, but it's not that much fun.

I played an older version of Hero Siege that I got from the humble store, and thuroughly enjoyed its blend of arcade action and ARPG character progression, and roguelike item and enemy generation. While it smacks strongly of a cellphone game, it is generally of a superior quality to those games and is easily played in a window, making it a good break-taking game from more serious titles.I played an older version of Hero Siege that I got from the humble store, and thuroughly enjoyed its blend of arcade action and ARPG character progression, and roguelike item and enemy generation. It has the potential for immense challenge but can be comfortably played at one's own pace. However, the DRM-free version of the game was never updated post-release and upon installing the Steam version I was surprised with a very different and much more aggressively challenging experience, with more playable classes and a handful of paid DLCs. Surprisingly my character saves carried over from the non-steam version, but I was unable to make much headway in the levels regardless. I can still recommend the game, especially in light of its very low price. Expand

From bad controls, disgusting UI, to some questionnable design decisions; Hero Siege is a punishing pixel graphics dungeon crawler that would give a significant portion of its players a hard time trying to love it. Sure, it's fun when you barely have any other options. It is ridiculously cheap on sale though so if you're interested in these kind of games then go ahead and have a look.

It is a great game to play with friends online, Hero Siege brings more than 10 classes, powerful enemies, beautiful maps. If you like 2D games, you will love Hero Siege.

Mucho contenido, pero se volvió TAN difícil (aún estando en modo fácil) que los bosses te mataban de un golpe.
    Tuve que dejar de jugarlo.
Y el modo online con gente era INJUGABLE, mucho lag.

A delightful if a bit simplistic retro RPG that’s best enjoyed with a friend. [Dec 2014]

The mixture of dungeon crawler, hunt for loot and dualstick action works surprisingly well, eventually you don’t think about the mobile roots anymore. But towards the end the weak balancing takes a lot of the fun away.
