As someone who is Solely interested in the single player campaign, I was very disappointed to find out this game is unplayable offline. No Microsoft I will not sign in to play a single player game.

    Pros:

    - Campaign is gorgeous - Graphics look amazing - FOV sliders! Reach looks like it was *made* for 120º! - Full support for custom Firefight Cons: - Some keybinds are locked and can't be remapped. Seriously? - Total absence of matchmaking, always getting stuck on bad teams. - Controller aim assist puts keyboard/mouse users at significant disadvantage. - No voting on
    Pros:

    - Full support for custom Firefight

    Cons:

    - Some keybinds are locked and can't be remapped. Seriously?
    - Total absence of matchmaking, always getting stuck on bad teams.
    - Controller aim assist puts keyboard/mouse users at significant disadvantage.
    - No voting on maps/gamemodes. Play what you're given or suffer a quit penalty.
    - Firefight playlists suck. No Score Attack or Crashsite in matchmaking. Custom FF awards absolutely zero progress.
    - Battle pass system that doesn't give enough rewards for Firefight
    - No custom games server browser for PVP *OR* Firefight.

I'm already bored not even 48 hours after downloading. There's a lot of room for improvement, but for right now, this is a game I'd only call slightly above average. There are several other games that I'd rather play right now.

Don't know what I was thinking, but it was on $1 for a month of Xbox game pass... It is just Halo isnt it? I remember playing the series years ago, and to be honest it has not really aged well. FPS have come a long way and this is just 'OK' but there are better games out there if you want the FPS experience like Doom 2016, some CODs and FEAR - you could even through Metro in there too.Don't know what I was thinking, but it was on $1 for a month of Xbox game pass... So really, unless you want to relive Halo for nostalgic purposes, I would probably skip it.

What would be great is if modern studios released interesting titles instead of forcing xbox games studios to re-release games from a decade ago just so players finally have something interesting to play.

Personally i felt interested into play Halo but never got the chance because i was more a PlayStation guy and the idea of buying another console to play one game was really stupid.
But finally, the master chief collection comes to the PC with enhanced graphics!!!! cool right
? well... yes and not, because Halo:Reach is the only game available to play right now and once you finish it that's it, the fun is over... kind off... if you want to hop in into the MP you can still have fun. But well.
I believe that 343 industries and Xbox studios should have postpone the launch of the game, at the end what we got is an unfinished game, and that's lame.
Now moving into the important aspects of the game, the campaign length is reasonable enough for a military shooter like 6 hrs or less, i believe it last the same amount of time that a regular Call of Duty campaign, for the story... it is not a very amazing plot, but again for a sci-fi military shooter is good.
Visually... it looks good, the game offers 3 different graphic presets (it's sad it doesn't contain more graphic options) these presets are "performance" "original" and "enhanced" between the original and enhanced preset i have to say, i didn't see any difference they both look the same.
The game's difficulty is a little out of place and it doesn't fully resemble the option you selected, the easy difficult felt like the normal difficult and the normal difficult felt like the hard difficult... yeah... weird right (or at least for me felt like that).
I don't know if Halo: Reach was made in mind for CO-OP gameplay, cus i believe it could be more efficient that way. Friendly AI is a bit dumb at times, they can be useful in combat as they can inflict damage to enemies, but if we refer to orientation there's were they're dumb, let's say you want to get into a tank or vehicle and you want to shoot instead of driving, if you let the friendly AI to drive they will constantly getting stuck or they will take their time to get into the vehicle, one step at a time.
Still... This is a great opportunity to play Halo on the PC for "the first time" in this collection and that performs very well, but so far on it's current state... the game remains unfinished with missing campaigns.

It's important to note that my review score refers to the port of Reach, not Reach itself. Halo Reach is actually one of my favourite games ever, and I love it dearly, I am not satisfied with the port however, and will change my score should they ever ACTUALLY FIX their game this time.

The Halo Reach port for the most part is great, and has included many great additions and changes.

The Halo Reach port for the most part is great, and has included many great additions and changes. It's far better in comparison to The Master Chief Collection's original launch on Xbox One, but it still has some problems though which I know can be fixed to make this port perfect. Very easy small too. It's hard for me to explicitly recommend this game or not however because so many core features are currently missing such as Forge World and File Share - these elements of Reach are integral to the experience, and until they're added the game almost feels like a demo.

    - Co-op for the campaign is unbearable. It didn't matter which of us hosted, the game always lagged for whoever wasn't host. I would get full second input delay when playing, whereas the online PVP modes worked perfectly fine. And while I admit that it hasn’t affected me much as it has other players, I have heard many reports of this game having horrible framerate and audio issues which a lot of people haven’t’ been able to resolve, this again seems to happen more so in the campaign than anywhere else. It seems like they focused heavily on the multiplayer without putting much work into the campaign.

    - The lack of daily and weekly challenges is very disappointing. It makes for less replay value and means level grinding later on is going to become a lot more tedious than it needs to be.

    - Not being able to vote for game types/maps while waiting in lobby is really annoying, it means you often end up with modes you didn't want. For example; if you wanted to play Infection with the Alpha Zombies game-type, you would have to simply pick infection and hope you get given that game type instead of being able to vote for it - because even though you picked Infection, there's still multiple types of infection, this applies for all of the game-mode search options. I really hope voting is brought back.

    - The new levelling system is… weird. Instead of earning credits and EXP, you now just earn EXP. And when you earn a rank up, you unlock a new tier of unlocks as well as a point to spend on them. However, the unlock system is linear, you gain 1 point every level as well as one new unlock per level, and all of the unlocks cost one point so… What’s the point in having this system again? There’s no reason not to spend points and there’s nothing else to spend the points on so why wouldn’t you just spend all of your points on the unlock you just earned as well? Very strange choice which makes little to no sense at all. I do however appreciate the changes to how medals affect the amount of EXP gained, as well as how unlocks are season based now.

    - The changes made to the Infection maps in my opinion are unnecessary, and are especially jarring when you play regular Infection in which zombies have evade. Nerfing the human’s defense options is absurd when surviving is difficult enough as is. I’ve played about 15 games of regular Infection give or take and not ONCE have the humans won. I think if anything, these map changes need to be removed for regular Infection, and not removed for Alpha Zombies.

    - Only two Fire Fight modes? Fire Fight modes are now split into Arcade and Heroic Limited, this means if you want to play any of the fun modes from Arcade, you’ll be able to do it with one hand because playing it on normal is insanely easy – not to mention you’ll never get a say in which mode is eventually picked either. Also, not being able to pick legendary is very annoying, and not being able to pick maps means I see very little variation and have even not seen some maps at all yet.

    - While this nitpick is minor I think it’s still worth mentioning; in the original game you were able to view other player’s armor during the wait for the match, this is sadly absent now. You are able to view other player’s profiles however, but this only shows you a generic profile picture type thing and you are unable to view their armor at all. It was a small but very enjoyable aspect of the multiplayer that I miss, a small change that could easily be made.

Halo Reach is utter crap. littered with kill stealing, bad hit detection, the armour is infinite, no matter how many times i hit them with a DMR there shield doesn't go down. Melee is crap and melee an enemy after hitting them once doesn't kill them because it doesn't register.

This game should be a 9-10/10 As some back story, I played over 2000 hours between halo 2, 3 and reach. I reached ring rank in halo 2 slayer and had 80% armory completion on halo reach. I own the game on Xbox game pass and the add friend feature does not seem to do anything as far as I'm aware, and playing with friends from steam can be a major headache. The map selection of the halo reach maps across BTB, Swat, and slayer is a hollow shell of its former self. Over the course of 150+ BTB games in halo reach PC since launch I have played Hemorrhage 3 times (Hemorrhage is the blood gulch remake for Halo reach). BTB and swat, in particular, are victim to maps that seem completely out of place for the game mode due to spawn camping in BTB snipers and swat on smaller maps. Finally, the upgrade system while sufficient as it includes the upgrades from Reach is 100% linear and therefore has no need for the token system. Just 100% copying the upgrade system from reach with 0 new innovation would be a massive step up as it adds incentive to saving up and more individuality to the game. The gameplay and graphics are amazing and that's why this game receives the rank that it does, Halo multiplayer is just as fun as it was 10 years ago. Expand

Nostalgic game, mainly Halo CE, Gearbox and Bungie days. The thing with the PC release is, the people that worked on it obviously don't grasp what made the game so good to most people, and that was the GameSpy arcade multi-player system.

Halo CE Anniversary, without being able to play Bloodgulch non stop or any map you prefer, is an insult and honestly a waste of time to the franchise..... Even on reach, a failure of popular consensus at the time of original release, has a miserable lack of Valhalla.
I think the developers, even with their gross amount of technical prowess, lack the fundamental understanding of what actually made Halo great, taking their own spin of things and totally neglecting the fact, people Love outdoor fort style combat, and the map rotation seems to be lenient to indoor arenas with no sense of fresh air or legendary enclosed space canyon exposé .
I used to have so much fun on Halo, and sure maybe the age makes me dissect every detail out of angst towards that lost time, but I can say without a doubt, the Halo player base will swiftly decline for the above reasons, mark my words.
Same way Aim assist killed Reach, I can hear a developer laughing.

Not really a great PC port. The UI is scuffed. And they changed the way you unlock halo reach armor for some stupid reason to make it worse. But then after spending ALL this time changing the UI, they don't add anything like Anti aliasing. I wonder what they were thinking. Incredible game but each game has worse customization and odd matchmaking. Halo the master chief collection is unable to elevate itself above any of the previous five.

The Halo games themselves are interesting to play even after the years following their release. However, not enough to get all that engrossed. The collection also suffers from achievement glitches on steam, meaning that completing the games on the hardest difficulty, twice, resulted in me getting no achievement for it and retiring the game due to frustration.

Overcoming its deserved reputation after a notorious launch, today the Halo Master Chief Collection is a polished, super-deluxe package of content that successfully links three generations of amazing Halo games together in a way that feels like it was made by and for people who care deeply about this legendary shooter franchise. The enhancements to the campaigns make it a joy to replay Master Chief’s story (and two other UNSC tales as well), but it’s the now-smooth multiplayer that’s worth coming back to over and over again. It’s not just a collection of some of the best first-person shooters ever made, it’s a great redemption story, too.
