Packaged with the rest of the Master Chief Collection, it’s an easy way to hop in and see what all the fuss was about 20 years ago. If you’ve spent the last 20 years moulding Halo PC into a custom content chimaera, it’s a harder sell. What Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is offering a clean slate.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is an outstanding first-person shooter that remains a joy to play nearly a decade after its original release. This remastered version looks and plays great, but audio bugs and downgraded Classic visuals sully the experience.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is still a quality version of the legendary game. It features all the action fans of the genre could want. Sadly, the Warthog controls abysmally, ruining a potentially epic climax. The environments toward the latter part of the game get repetitive and dry. But, as a whole, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is a worthwhile play for fans of the genre.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is the best way to play a great first-person shooter for the first time, or to relive the beginning of the long Master Chief epic.

The port of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is a good one, although it does suffer from some problems that will bother players.

More time capsule than game, stirring sentimental wonderment and bad memories in equal measure.

Halo CEA brings that old nostalgia of games from the beginning of the century. It's just perfect when it comes to campaign, gameplay and multiplayer.

Man is this game overrated, it might have been incredible when it released but by today's standards the game is really mediocre. The visualsMan is this game overrated, it might have been incredible when it released but by today's standards the game is really mediocre. The visuals are fine, the music is decent, the voice acting is mediocre and the level design is painfully boring. You walk through countless hallways (many of which are copy and pasted) and the gameplay doesn't have the satisfaction of recent first person shooters.

I wouldn't recommend the game to anyone unless you feel the need to 'catch-up' with all the Halo games before Infinite comes out.

Feels like a rushed project. Atmosphere is ruined, it's not faithful to the original at all.
