    Good netcode. Probably the best tutorial in a fighting game. Online services are a bit slow, but in-game netcode is top notch. Creative character design.

    Probably the best looking fg out there. Also has a killer soundtrack and impeccable netcode. The gameplay was simplified from previous entries, but still has more depth and complexity than most fgs out there. A few problems like the bad lobbies and unlockables, and the incredibly long time it takes to connect to the servers hold it back from being a perfect game, but these are very smallProbably the best looking fg out there.     guilty gear strive is one of the most enjoyable fighting games i played in a while being an arc system game i bought it after having so much fun with fighterz and although i have a lot of experience with fighting games like mortal kombat tekkken and fighterz guilty gear is its own creature there is so much depth in every character you actually have to learn everything about how yourguilty gear strive is one of the most enjoyable fighting games i played in a while being an arc system game i bought it after having so much fun with fighterz and although i have a lot of experience with fighting games like mortal kombat tekkken and fighterz guilty gear is its own creature there is so much depth in every character you actually have to learn everything about how your character plays and all the other mechanics like roman cancel dust combo and all the others im already 12 hours in and i cant get enough of this game plus the net code is super good you can play online with no problems what so ever and because of all that i really have no complains so ill keep the review very short and simple the game is fun and very beginner friendly so if your a fan of fighting games please give this game a try even if the roster is a tad small i think this game deserves the recognition so in conclusion my score to guilty gear strive is a 9 out of 10… Expand

    Almost a year since release and game still has broken balance and absolutely nonsensical rating system where you have to waste your time each month to do pointless celestial challenge. Still no way to check ping before match, still no proper way to tell a skill level of a player. Half of the cast still absolutely braindead overtuned unga bunga gorillas.
    Only netcode and visuals are great.

    The latest patch 1.24 along with the edition of PS crossplay seems to have broken record of their prior experience. A lot players still unable to connect to online, getting kicked back to main menu with network errors, unable to join Tower lobbies, half of the maps aren't playable because it takes toll on console players causing spike in roll backs.     This game is just a pain in the ass. This Tower-System is really annoying, the hardest challenge in this game is to find an opponent to fight without having a mental breakdown

    Good gameplay, good netcode, questionable lobbies. My main criticism is the lack of single player content as well as the laughable unlockables that come through fishing. Youtube trailers, character art and shoes for your avatar... really ArcSys? Will you ever step up and give us any sort of incentive to grind in this game? Maybe some costumes, unlockable characters, color palletes..Good gameplay, good netcode, questionable lobbies. My main criticism is the lack of single player content as well as the laughable unlockables that come through fishing. Youtube trailers, character art and shoes for your avatar... really ArcSys? Will you ever step up and give us any sort of incentive to grind in this game? There's also a lack of steam collectibles for this game. Story is also a big long cutscene, which adds to the very little content there is to do for offline play.

    It's a good game, but only for the people that are planning to go hard online. Outside of that, game doesn't offer much outside of a very good and detailed tutorial mission.    … Expand

    Good netcode, lobby and menus is a pain though. Makes up for it with visuals, solid combat, good music and a good starting roster.

    This fighter had a chance but missed it. The combat system shifted in the wrong direction and especially when the previous parts were really top. I'm really bothered by breaking through the walls in arenas, it's annoying mechanics that destroy the dynamics of combat. And that embarrassing story? Too bad to write about it. Street fighter 5 game went to stone all when it came out of only 16This fighter had a chance but missed it.     I really want to love this game as the combat mechanics, art and music design are all incredible. Unfortunately the online experience is remarkably sub-par. Second from the worst only to Smash Ultimate, the decisions Team Red decided to follow through with through an onslaught of negative user review during the beta process is baffling.     strive is easy to start, stylish, and have a lot of ppl playing, but going deeper is full of flaws on a base level (big damage and simple blockstrings in a game where defensive options are rather limited, RC that basically eliminates risk of a failed attack, sometimes you feel like playing on 11f rollback and game telling you its only 2f , UI isnt greatest etc) its basically party gamestrive is easy to start, stylish, and have a lot of ppl playing, but going deeper is full of flaws on a base level (big damage and simple blockstrings in a game where defensive options are rather limited, RC that basically eliminates risk of a failed attack, sometimes you feel like playing on 11f rollback and game telling you its only 2f , UI isnt greatest etc) its basically party game where char with bigger HP is reigning supreme ( more chances to get in or build resources, and when you can kill opponent in 2 combos - game is becoming predictable WERY fast)

    The game is oozing with master class art, net code and overall amazingness on every technical department. It is absolutely fantastic beyond fantastic when it comes to polish.     It is nigh impossible for casuals to get into the game mostly because controls. You have to master the art of becoming one with your controller. The milisecond critical inputs involve flawless executions of what I would call the art of thumb dancing. You absolutely cannot mess up the brain bending directional inputs that need to be done within a millisecond. I am so sad :*(

    That being said, the 1 point is erased because of my incompetence, and my incompetence is what would push away the casual gamer unfortunately.    … Expand

    Truly amazing game featuring some of the best and fair-feeling fighting game gameplay i have seen in a while. The game has a low barrier to entry thanks to the easy to grasp bsse mechanics with a bunch of neache mechanics to really dig into. The story even though confusing is amazing and is truly worth a watch even if its just a almost full-lenght movie with no player interaction. A few people onlie summarized it's amazin soundtrack a whole lot better than i ever could :" can't belive i got a free game with my music album". The visuals look appealing and if you ever get bored, you can play arround with mods quite easily while still beeing abled to use them online. Best fighting game i have ever played.… Expand

    Fighting game perfection. Incredible gameplay, great tutorial and mission modes for beginners. The story mode is amazing and carries on from Xrd. The netcode is amazing (rollback), and it runs incredibly smooth and quick on PS5.

    This game is awesome, it has the graphix, it has the intense dolphin gameplay, and it has the best soundtrack to ever be produced, but don't quote me on that cuz I'm still stuck on the loading screen.

    Guilty Gear Strive aswell as it prediscessor Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2 are some of the most fun and easy to pick up fighting games i have seen. it feels like most characters stand on even ground and because of the small and diverse roster it's quite easy to remember who does what and what they specialize in. the tutorial area is very basic but helps explaining all mechanics the game has toGuilty Gear Strive aswell as it prediscessor Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2 are some of the most fun and easy to pick up fighting games i have seen. it feels like most characters stand on even ground and because of the small and diverse roster it's quite easy to remember who does what and what they specialize in. the tutorial area is very basic but helps explaining all mechanics the game has to offer even the more neache options such as kara cancels. unlike a fighting game like tekken, the move list is quite small and helps new players to not have an information overflow as soon as they want to learn some basic combos. speaking of wich, guilty gear stirve helps you with easy to use combo creation tools so you can quickly seach and find just what you are looking for. outside the main game, there is plenty of other content to enjoy, such as the story mode wich is just a full-length film with the usual confusing fighting game lore but cranked up to 12/10 seriously, if a figting game needs a whole collection of lore, character relation charts, a timeline and individual entries about important objects places etc. you know this is one hell of a complex but enjoyable and detailed story/lore. but other than the story mode, you can look at digital figures, wich are basically just ways for people to create a freeze frame featuring all kinds of effects, expressions, poses, etc. and it's perfect for getting some quick entertainment without needing to play the game. (quick disclaimer you need to unlock the poses and expressions etc. by fishing wich is just gambling your earned currency to get items. you earn currency by leveling and just playing matches there is no way to buy this currency as of now.) the artstyle goes beyond the simple 2d anime fighting game artstyle and looks just beautiful all together. the animations are amazing and so are (most) of the mods with wich you can play unrestrictedly and and are easy to get when you watch a quick 2 min tutorial. just like the artstyle is amazing this "game" is basically just one amazing albumb with a free anime fighter attached to it. the music is what got me, and probably many others into playing this game, and i can proudly say, i once lost my voice because i was screaming the lyrics to potemkin's theme "Armorclad-faith" and my god, you listen to the soundtrack once, you can just go buy the game already, you will buy it sometime anyways. trust me.… Expand

    I think Guilty Gear Strive has everything that a good fighting game has: gorgeous visuals, diverse and fun roster (pretty balanced too), fresh and interesting mechanics, neither too fast or too slow.     GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- is a great fighting game and a great sequel to an old franchise which successfully caters to both genre veterans and newcomers. It is a bit on the expensive side, but the gameplay, art, and music all justify it.

    Each fighter is very unique, so, even though there is a good tutorial, it will take a long time before you’ll learn how to fight properly. Still, if you have even a slightest interest in Japanese fighting games – you absolutely have to check out Strive. [Issue#254, p.56]

    In summary, Guilty Gear Strive is an excellent evolution of a series that’s always provided players with a unique and interesting approach to weapons-based combat, and now it’s slightly less impenetrable for newcomers. It’s got room to grow, but it’s a stylish, standout fighter whose strengths absolutely outnumber its flaws.
