    Absolute rubbish, the rain blocks the view, the characters design is rubbish and the whole thing is a lazy remaster. Very rushed rubbish. Don't buy games until you know they are complete people. These game companies are taking us for mugs now.

    So, being R*/T2, ones of the biggest and the richest names in gaming industry, how do you manage remastering one of the best and most influential trilogies that defined 6th generation of consoles and put you in position you're currently enjoy? Their answer to that is outsourcing it to some small third-rate studio (Groove Street Games) whose portfolio contains infamously horrible GTA:SA X360/PS3 remasters, among other not so great ports of different games. Doesn't sound like a bright idea to me. It shows how much R*/T2 care about quality and legacy of their old games though.

    Graphics/Performance/Gameplay
    GSG basically ported inferior mobile versions to UE4 (isn't really hard thing to do (unlike reverse engineering GTA3/VC;), just takes some time). AI upscaled textures (probably didn't even looked at results), made them work with UE4 lighting. Added a little bit new objects here and there. So for most improvements you should thank UE4 accessibility. Also "DE" has very long draw distance, which is great by itself, but because they removed smog for some reason (maybe Epsilonism doesn't allow this) you can now clearly see how really small the map is. Just sad. Cinematic camera is removed like in mobile. Technically new lighting is better, but it changes the atmosphere too much. More often than not it looks worse imho, in some scenes it can look great, so it's hit and miss. Rain as well rarely looks great. Money models are huge, I see they like it a lot. For some reason GSG added gross outlines on enemies (forgot to do it on some fonts though). Things that are really improved are vegetation, vehicles (not by much, but it's enough in this case tbh), overall polycount and texture quality. Also it works fine at 60+ fps unlike original. All in all, it combines some technical improvements with lack of visual integrity, style and soul. Performance on the other hand is unforgivably bad for this level of graphics, you can have drops even on high end PCs and next gen consoles. Turns out there's a "real" reason for adding DLSS. Gameplay-wise it's mostly the same with some minor changes to make games easier: you no longer lose your weapons if you die during missions; health restores after missions; more armor pick-ups etc. It's worth to say there's no more NPC health indicators in SA and ability to crouch in VC.

    Grand Toon Auto
    The worst thing about so called "DE" is character models, by far. This is total visual disaster! I can't recall any game with characters so disgustingly atrocious and so out of place like in this one. Some of them don't even look like human beings. Appearance of many main characters was changed considerably. Tommy, poor guy, now it's easier to jump over him than get around him. Not all that bad though, he got awesome sun tun (he denies it btw). Lance looks like Eddie Murphy made out of Plasticine (kinda charming). Rosenberg now looks like a kid with chest full of hair and with women's sunglasses. Sweet probably tried to stop GTA train by his face and CJ saw it in that moment. Woozie should be glad he's blind. Claude apparently tired of all this sh*t and who could blame him. The less be said about female characters the better. They all are meme-worthy.

    Censorship/Removed songs/Unavailability of old games/Price
    Big part of these games appeal is undoubtedly iconic soundtrack and "definitive editions" have probably more cut songs than any other versions. 'Nuff said. As for censorship, I get it, in a game where you can cause mayhem with all sorts of weapons and battle vehicles killing half of American population, in a game where you can use chainsaw on people, fry 'em with flamethrower or Molotov's, all in a city that has more criminals than in prison, the Confederate flag would be an overkill. Makes perfect f*cking sense! They ask for all that rotten sh*t 60 American Dollars! What, ARE THEY OUT OF THEIR MINDS? I guess it's some kind of 1$ per 1fps policy. Good for us performance in "DE" is so bad. Don't forget you can't buy old versions digitally anymore. Thank you R* and *U. Worse than that, a lot of cool mods was banned for this s*.

    Games just scream how lazy, cheap, low effort they are. GSG couldn't even remade intro videos, they still show old graphics (I've had some mod for VC back in the day in which intro was remade and it was done fairly well actually). All menus have San Andreas sounds now FFS! In terms of bugs and lags it can give C2077 a run for its money. And list could go on, but it's supposed to be a short review. Overall, there's as much definitive about these versions as sweet about Sweet Johnson or G in OG Loc. I's more like a Cluckin' Bell hamburger made out of processed chicken ass, with "just" 10% guano in it. Well, at least hamburger can be tasty, GTA Definitive Edition is definitely tasteless.    … Expand

The attention to detail that the originals had was trashed by putting anachronical things, for example, a printer with a touch screen and USB ports, in 1992.

    The forests in GTA SA do look kinda good though.

    There are some parts where graphics do look good, however, no version has ever captured the atmosphere from the PS2 releases, and this is more noticeable due to the removal of the fog and increasing the draw distance, making the maps of all the games feel very small and very... unfinished.

    The PC versions are a hot mess right now, you don't even wanna touch with a 10 foot bar pole. It released with the cut music they were supossed to remove because they don't have the license, and they also released with A LOT of SOURCE CODE (scripts, mission scripts, translations, models, and much much more). Right now, you can't play the game because the Rockstar Games Launcher went on mainteance for the release day... for 24 hours. So what did they do when the launcher is back online? Remove the access to the games until they solve the files thing, which obviously for boomers like them is enough, but if you are on the internet, always on the internet.

    re3 and many singleplayer mods from the last 20 years have died for this, sued by Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive, hold them accountable.    … Expand

    Old bugs have not been removed in the game, but many new ones have appeared. Holes in the map, poor optimization. Artificial intelligence has become more stupid - sometimes drivers just bang against the wall. Many car textures have been improved with a special program, but without manual processing, which makes them look very bad. I think it makes no sense to talk about the faces of the characters.. Most of all I am disappointed in San Andreas. The underwater world was taken away from us, because Karl now does not know how to dive deeply, and if we get to the bottom with the help of a bug, we will see that everything under the water is scenery, they no longer have a collision. The mimicry of the characters is also now absent. The character sometimes falls under the map and cannot get to the top. The transition between sky and water is poorly done, as if it were someone's crude custom mod. Bottles no longer fly away from shots, but fall under objects. A couple of missions were made easier.
    This is just what I found, but I think the game has a lot more problems than it seems.

    Biggest disappointment of the year so far. I could live with the bad models and the rest of the graphics problems of the remasters, but besides bad graphics, the games has just a bunch of technical problems. Optimization is awfull and they're just full of bugs. And knowing who was involved in these remasters, I don't even have any hope for patches.

    Added 2 points for music. A terrible game, when you want to feel the atmosphere of the game, you are greeted by bugs, many bugs due to which you lose missions. Due to one bug, I cannot complete the mission "Arms Dealer". I didn't feel any emotions when I passed. I am silent about the price and faces of the characters.

    Just a shameful port. Spelling and texture errors, cars blow up almost instantly, the character models look horrifically bad - there really seems to have been no quality control on this game at all. At some points the characters’ hands will be half as long as their torsos.

    I cannot recommend anyone pay full-price for these games. Even if it were $15 I would tell people to wait for a sale.

    Gráficos do cenário até que está interessante, porém os gráficos dos personagens estão horrendos e com esse valor exorbitante de 320 reais é complicado pra 3 jogos de mais de 15 anos, com esse remaster tosco e cheio de bugs que as vezes atrapalham muito a gameplay

Their reason for not doing enough is "we wanted to keep the old look, the old models... the old feel". However, it is very clear this was a cashgrab and a poor one at that cause their product was in such a poor shape that it didn't even work, tons of people asking for refunds and soon am about to be one of them. Its not worth 60$ so therefore i will refund it and buy it at a discounted price.

    i bought these games only for the nostalgic, just seeing the texture updates and lightning updates on GTA VC made me smile. So this clearly breaks my heart.
    Release time for me was 2 PM, and i couldn't download it until about 5 PM. So after all that wait i played a few hours with joy then it was immediately taken down, thanks a lot Rockstar. Last time i preorder any of your products that's for sure.    … Expand

    nothing is good in the definitive edition. The game world looks like a plastic mockup. Why also Take 2 hired grove street games? I have no idea. The most upsetting thing is that there was nothing rockstar games could do about it.. In childhood, this trilogy game was beautiful, and now? no words :(

    This game clearly does not deserve a score of more than 2 on metacritic, for sure. I can say with confidence that the marketers who told us a big redesign of the interface brazenly lied to our face, showing a piece of feces in a beautiful graphics wrapper.

    PS5 user. I'll be honest I haven't religiously played these games since their original release so I've enjoyed playing them again but you can see how many corners have been cut. You can't polish a turd but you can put glitter on it. To be fare the originals weren't turds but that's how it feels. We all publicly know how much Rockstar Games is raking it in with their constant re-releases ofPS5 user. But now, we get no games from Rockstar except RR2 and no GTA game in years or like almost a decade, they decided not to finish the remaster of the classic GTA trilogy and give us a half-finished mess. It needs a lot of improvement. The gameRockstar needs to step up and make great games again. This remaster is a half-finished. GTA is one of the best video-game franchises that I’ve played. But now, we get no games from Rockstar except RR2 and no GTA game in years or like almost a decade, they decided not to finish the remaster of the classic GTA trilogy and give us a half-finished mess. It needs a lot of improvement. The game has bugs, glitches, and the character/NPC models need fixing. For GTA San Andreas, the Draw distance/fog needs to be lowered/added so that the locations and cities look farther away from each other and the map looks much bigger. For all of the games, the old songs should be re-added into the game as well, new songs should be put in there too. They need to add much more detail to the games. By the way, Take Two shouldn’t be taking down mods, that just sounds greedy. They should also add the OG games. They should make the newer versions look like the OG games. They should give each location its own weather and environment. Rockstar should consider listening to Costumers and its fanbase. Hopefully they listen.… Expand

    The part I hate most about this game isn't even the game itself. They removed peoples mods that they worked harder to make than what rockstar did making this trilogy. They also removed the original games so people are forced to buy this over priced junk. You cant even buy the individual games! So if you only wanted to buy 1 of them, you have to buy all 3. Another way in rinsing you for more cash, charging you for something you're probably never gonna use. After Rockstar pulled this stunt I actually despise the company and I hope someone buys them out so they can stop ripping off their customers.
    This trilogy was not play tested at all. As long as it started up then it hit the shelves. I miss the days when devs would hand their game out to a few people so they could give them feedback. That way a we would get a working game. I stopped pre ordering games so I could read reviews on the product. I played this through PS Now and gamepass. If I paid for it I would have demanded a refund. I have not tested vice city but I can imagine the same issues are there if they are in both III and SA.

    Anyway here is some of the bad things I have found. (These are problems with all 3 games unless said otherwise)
    You can only change weapon using 1 button or you can hold it down to bring up a GTA V style weapon wheel. If you were like me and switched back and forth to reload then you're out of luck.
    Some of the textures haven't been updated making them look stupid.
    Character modals look stupid. This badly shows in San Andreas where its people with a darker skin colour. They look kind of red aswell.
    The gun play is this game sucks. Switching between targets is no longer instant but instead you have to hold the analog left or right for about 2 seconds before it switches to the next target.
    The aiming target stays green rather than corresponding to the health of the NPC.
    The game is based from the mobile version so its way easier than the original games.
    Certain textures have been resized like leafs and stuff. Because of this they now overlap in certain areas so you'll have loads of leaves randomly floating off the side of a hill.
    There is no longer fog. This is definitely 1 of the worst issues. You can now look into the distance and see the games render distance and stuff.
    The audio files are a really low quality, likely ripped from the original games. So you have a HD game with what sounds like 100kbps audio files.
    Not sure if its just me but GTA III at night is way to dark. I turned the brightness up and then during the day time its way to bright.
    No longer does stuff blow in the wind making the game feel more bland. (In the original games you would have trash and leafs blowing around)
    The game is extremely over priced. Its $50 when it should be $30 for all 3 or $15 each.

    I just don't understand how you can remaster a game and make it have less features and play worse than the original games? The worst part is that they aren't even working to improve it and make it just as good. You could have a better experience by paying for the original game on PC (Don't worry it should run or more or less any PC that can run windows 10).
    Use the GTA SA downgrade tool. This will allow any mods to work. If you have the disc version you will no longer need a disc inserted either.
    Then install the texture update mods. I am sure people would have reuploaded them after the scum bags known as rockstar removed them. With the texture mods you will have a game that looks better and plays better than this pathetic excuse for a game. This is an insult to the original games and its an insult to those who paid for it. There needs a be laws on what qualifies as a finished product in order to charge for it. This definitely is not what I call finished.    … Expand

    Somehow this game looks worse than the orginal. There's nostalgia factor however Rockstar with an amaizng track record really dropped the ball here. The remake no one asked for was terrible. Regret buying.

Во многом всё оставили так, как было в оригиналах, например, шрифты, которые в некоторых местах сплющены, видно, что шрифты делались для соотношения 4:3, а не 16:9. Автосохранения, конечно, есть, но в очень редких местах. Игры вообще не осовременили.Поиграл во все 3 игры примерно по 1 часу в каждую. Графон дерьмо. Бывали микрофризы.     I am seriously disappointed in this, as someone who pestered his parents for about 5 months to get San Andreas and spent thousands and thousands of hours on it well into my adult years hearing of a remaster was something I was eager    I have so far only played the San Andreas DE. So my experiences are based on that and ultimately, I'm reflecting my experience there onto the whole package.

    I am seriously disappointed in this, as someone who pestered his parents for about 5 months to get San Andreas and spent thousands and thousands of hours on it well into my adult years hearing of a remaster was something I was eager to see. Like many my mind raced of our beloved game re-done in the GTA V engine with the graphical upgrades and gameplay elements that game brought us. Instead..

    We got a goddamn port from the cellphone. What an absolute joke. This is simply unacceptable for a PC/Console game to be ported from a phone, especially from a rich company such as R*. While this game tickles my nostalgia bone I can't say I can immerse myself into the experience due to the constant, amateur-level graphical issues which plague this game, to list some:

    CJs tattoos being cut off by clothes
    CJs tattoos literally "floating" above his skin
    CJs tattoos being an odd shade of black which looks fake as all hell.
    Body parts having visible lines between head/neck, clothes, arms (etc)
    The world/buildings flashing in blue/red randomly, kind of as if police lights are going off but no cop car is around
    Weather will cause weird graphical errors
    Roads (especially east highway of Los Santos) having.. weird bumps in the road which are like ghostly/shadowy.
    Old graphical effects gone (Noting the "Speed blur" which I enjoyed personally)
    All the models looking like weird plastic toys, shiny as hell and badly done
    Any character talking (outside of main characters) is basically stretching their bottom lip.. Which looks weird.
    Pictures on walls are wrong from the originals, as well as being badly up-scaled.
    Textures in general are...horrid.. It comes to something when the community can just stick it through an AI up-scaler and do a better job.. Within a few days.
    The "graphical upgrades" are a meme, literally "Lets add fancy lighting effects and bloom".

    This is just from me playing 5 missions and getting all 100 tags. So let's say 3 to 4 hours of gameplay.

    I can only really think of 2, maybe 3 things I like from this remaster but those are so insignificant that it really doesn't make up for the shortcomings this is filled with. You'd really think that Rockstar might have pulled some of the ridiculous millions and billions they milked from us with GTAV/GTA:O to really put some effort into what was their crowning achievements, but they couldn't of given less of a damn if they tried. I would 100% recommend people do not buy this game and if you desperately wish to play go grab the original games and mod them, you'll get a much better experience.

    I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I fully believe Rockstar will just consider this abandonware within a year. They'd have to start again from the ground up for any real fan to be able to accept this.    … Expand

    - crazy drawing range without a fog for the entire map of San Andres (now the world from above looks like a miniature from a museum), destroyed sense of distance - the port from mobile phones and bugs from there also - menu sounds replaced everywhere with sounds from San Andreas, lazy and lack of attention to detail - there is a dark glow    Why I dislike:

    I got through III without much issue but Vice City is simply broken. Super disappointed with this game. The new graphics are cool but the novelty wears out fast, especially when you can't progress because a mission is broken.

    And the rain, oh...my...god... the rain.
    It is a small square texture/shader that has a VERY noticeable pattern that is repeated into infinity. It makes me physically ill. I get nauseous and get a headache from the effect. There is too much particles/texture, way too bright and you can't even look past it properly.
    The rain also doesn't overlay on water so if you look at water and land you see no rain effect on the water, except some reflections making rain go down above the water and upwards on the water.

    This game is a complete mess, And after a few hours the Rockstar Launcher shutdown, no way to play an offline singleplayer game because of this, and now they just deleted it from my library and I have no way to play anymore. Here's hoping for a refund.

    First, I don't care that it's the same game as from 15 years ago, I think they needed a remaster, and I believe this version did the job very well initially. Some of the models were of questionable quality but overall the game was rather impressive. What irritates me is the launch and how it was treated.

    5. The PS5 version was available WAY too early, to the point where it had to be pulled.
    6. Xbox players had to wait even longer because of a mishap on Microsoft's part.
    7. The performance was abysmal when there was nothing going on, even on formidable hardware.
    7a. I'm able to run FORZA HORIZON 5 on high and still get 60fps but I can't run this on even a hybrid medium high?
    8. San Andreas still has garbage audio quality when Rockstar should've fixed it like they did with Vice City and GTA 3.
    9. I found myself unable to even play Vice City because the launcher went down.
    10. I'm still unable to get a refund and as of the time of writing Rockstar has yet to read my support ticket.

    And there's still WAY more reasons as to why I gave this a low score. Has nothing to do with the fact that it's old games being re-released again, it solely has to do with Rockstar not giving a rats ass about it.    … Expand

    You could made so many things better with this remaster like: improving AI, Physics and Handling of vehicles, improved mission design. But instead you chose to add like GPS to the games. Horrible textures too. Keep using AI and you will find out why people hate Take Two. Also screw Rockstar and Take Two.

    Apenas jogaram um filtro horrível nos 3 jogos da franquia e que está recheado de bugs grotescos e com um preço abusivo. Seria melhor remover o jogo de todas as plataformas e fingir demência para esquecer essa m*rd que foi lançado... Total desrespeito com os fãs.

    they banned the mods, removed original games from stores, cut out many music tracks, made ugly cartoonish characters, all three games are filled with bugs, it's based on poor mobile ports, basically the old game with new lightning and lazy AI upscaled textures, and yes they're charging 60$ for it, a shame

    Its a shame. Poor optimisation, lot of bugs, and glitches. Due to the age of the game, it would have been appropriate to bring a minimum of 30 continuous fps on each platform. There was no gameplay preview at all. That could have been a warning sign.

    They made this remaster just for money, Zero effort to this game, models looks like made from plastic, optimization is a garbage, how the light looks and behaves, you can see cool reflection.     Выглядит во многом хуже, чем старые версии. Безбожно лагает, что на пс5, что на пк. Вырезана старая музыка, что сильно портит впечатление от игры. Старые версии убрали из продажи. Типичный наглый развод лохов на бабки.

    Absolute garbage!!! The graphics are terrible, the music from the PS2 and Xbox version have been removed. Play the original versions or pc please.

    I don't know where to start , for decades I saw the Rockstar as maybe the mightiest game studio in my life that is not a cheap cash grab , that they only looking for perfectionism . but just look at this abomination.... just a simple re shade with a horrifying re-texture and another BAD port for pc. why Rockstar? what really happened to you?     A shame. Clipping, horrible character textures. Bugs everywhere. Despite a 2000 dollars pc, I have framerate drops. I'll go back to the original Games.

    To say that I am disappointed is to say nothing. Once again I was convinced that Rockstar is not the same, since they give their great games to just anyone.
    1) Bad optimization
    2) Horrible character models
    3) Bugs
    4) Unreasonably high price
    5) Intimidation and lawsuits against moderators
    All this makes you give a bad rating to your game.

    Rockstar dropped the ball on this remaster. The cars and other moving models look like plastic toys and the cities look like polished excrement. The contrast between the environment and the models is horrible and the list of bugs is long and obnoxious. Quality of life changes are the only redeeming part of this remaster that does no favours for fans or newcomers. Skip it until they either fix it or let the moders do their job.

    I cannot currently recommend Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on the PC, and a lot has to happen until I do. The truth is that I've had a decent amount of fun with this remaster; part of it is based on nostalgia, and part of it is based on some ridiculous, unavoidable bugs that weren't as frequent as I'd feared. Given all of these issues and the abysmal performance of the three games on the PC, I'd stay away from the trilogy until several major updates have been released. Even then, this remaster may not be for everyone.

    Overall, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was set up to be one of the best things for GTA fans and it failed to hit that mark. It will now be remembered as a failure to launch title but I am sure Rockstar will step in and continue to fix some items within their game world.
