    To me this is best GTA game. Amazing physics and truly living open-world, pure atmosphere of a big American city filled with cops, bandits, mafia, immigrants and all of them are bastards. This story deserves more attention from you. It is far more serious than you guys think. Probably the most badass and touchy GTA story. I felt for the characters more than i ever recall doing in my GTATo me this is best GTA game. Amazing physics and truly living open-world, pure atmosphere of a big American city filled with cops, bandits, mafia, immigrants and all of them are bastards. This story deserves more attention from you. It is far more serious than you guys think. Probably the most badass and touchy GTA story.     Another very good GTA game! I don't think there is much to say. A must-play "Open World" game. Probably 50-60hrs on record.

    Um dos melhores GTA's da franquia. Lançado em 2008, GTA IV ainda surpreende pelo realismo e pelos gráficos, fora a história que é sensacional.

    Só não tem como dar nota 10 pq a otimização desse GTA é totalmente falha, o que pode prejudicar muito a gameplay de quem joga.

    Кусок тормозного дерьма, убогий, забагованный порт для тупорылых васянов. В это дерьмо невозможно нормально играть, лучше на мылостейшене пройти этот кал и забыть его, чем мучиться на пердимонокле с вылетами и фризами.

    Как по, так это лучшая часть серии.
    Это первая гта, в которой наконец то появилась физика, которая уделывает 5 ую часть даже спустя 11 лет. Про сюжет вообще молчу, он крут. Все по взрослому . 10/10

    Jugabilidad: buenisima disparos uf batallas epicas contra la policía y eso pero conducción algo molesta y el personaje es muy "realista" osea se mueve lento salta lento pero bueno es tipo menos casual y arcade como en gta sa y mas realista pero aburrido graficos: los graficos no me gustaron mucho osea si eran realistas pero todo se ve    Un juego muy bueno aburrido y poco contenido...

    GTA 4 doesnt offer you a lot in comparison to the predecessors. But they were perfect already, so it is difficult to put new things in it.
    The gameplay should be known and means a lot of fun and a lot of possibilities, but it is not very complex.
    The difficulty is much lower than in the predecessors, especially the AI is stupid and you can kill them all very easily. But on the other    GTA 4 doesnt offer you a lot in comparison to the predecessors. But they were perfect already, so it is difficult to put new things in it.
    The gameplay should be known and means a lot of fun and a lot of possibilities, but it is not very complex.
    The difficulty is much lower than in the predecessors, especially the AI is stupid and you can kill them all very easily. But on the other side, there is no free savings, so sometimes I was glad to play through the game instead of repeating hard missions all the time.
    The characters are funny, especially Bruce, but also Little Jacob and Bernie. The story and the dialogues are comprehensible and I was curious, how the story evolves.
    The graphics and the city are perfect.
    As a result it is a great successor, but not on the same level as an art like Deus Ex.

    Many players complain about the implementation of the game and the enforcement to install many unnecessary software like Rockstar club and Microsoft live club. First: dont buy any game short after release, wait many months when it is cheaper and have some patches. And second dont do everything the industry wants you to do, there are always ways...    … Expand

    We are in 2020, this is a 2008 game (with the port for PC in 2009), and still is my favorite GTA.

    I absolutely love this game. The main thing that keeps bringing me back to this game is the story and characters. I've probably played it over 5 times, and put in over 500 hours into it.
    The physics, the gun-play, the attention to detail, and the graphics even for today are still pretty good.

    Aside from being poorly ported to PC, this is a timeless game that will always be fun. Add the robust modding community on top of that and it will keep you busy for a long time.

    For me is same GTA as every other one :)
    Same fun playthrough as always :) Story of course is different , with new protagonist.
    Worth to play at least once :)

    Я много раз её перепроходил, потому что она была оптимальной точкой между 5-ой и Сан-Андреасом, игра вполне себе приличная, так что 8/10.

    This is probably a good game. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. So all the negative reviews are from 2008-2009, yes I can understand that this is a heavy game and at that time not many had an excellent PC, that's why they are not satisfied with this game.

    This is magnificent. It's just getting bigger, better and longer every single time. GTA III was bigger and better than GTA II and now this. Rockstar Games knows how to satisfy us, they'll never disappoint us. The problem is that the rating-system can go no higher than 10. So a HUGE one from me.

    They upgraded their game engine from San Andreas, which is almost the best thing that can be said for the game if put in to comparison with GTA SA. I like how the menu is pumped up with GTA art, and is simple but rather detailed. The story is very rich, and very movie like which fit right in the environment and added to the feel of the game. Also the narrative is enriched with great but dark humor. Americanized Niko is the perfect protagonist for this entry in the series, and Liberty City is just beautiful in the new HD textures. The Graphics are pretty acceptable (if turned to max) even for today's standards. Sound effects are very repetitive though which kinda broke the immersive experience for me, time to time. Animations are flawless, but looks terrifying or awkward because of the rag-doll physics. But that just makes it more fun and entertaining, which is one of the most important things in a game. The voice acting is incredible with a lot of lines, great use of vocal gesticulations and accentuation. Hats off to the writer of dialog and narrative as well, as this is amazingly done, and very believable at that. The color pallet of the game really lack, and pissed me off a lot of times, how uncolored the city was at times. The AI is really simple but good in terms of difficulty and reaction. Except the traffic is really bad if you respect the law of traffic. Because they never heard of it, and will crash in to you non the less. Although the difficulty can't be set, the game offers a challenge for every type of gamer. (Casual or hardcore) I have not found any bugs in the game myself, but seen a few. But none of them are really game breaking, or progression breaking.
    The GAMEPLAY is really basic, but still better than the last entry. Basically it's butter driving and earthquaky when running or aiming. On PC the aiming was good enough, I could easily get head shots. Although the cover system is new, it was pretty decent with a couple of faults, maybe intended. Melee combat was real awesome with the dodge counter attack. Was enjoyable to watch the finishers, but also hard to achieve them. Although the map was smaller, it seems bigger because of the vertical feeling of New York city. But as large as it seemed and beautiful, it was as shallow and empty, with tons of repetitive elements, chore like side activities which where awful and sadly boring as hell. And a lot of them where forced on to you as well. Also it wasn't bad enough that the side activities where repetitive, but the main missions as well are repetitive as fu8k. I mean it's basically a driving shooting and driving back simulator. Which hurts the game at it's core, and destroys everything in it's foundation which was good. It breaks the environment's immersion and even the story's gravity is lifted by the non-existent diversity in quests. Only a couple are even worth remarking, from the 80+ missions. Fast travel helps a lot but also breaks immersion. Also the story is dragging in the first 4 hours, but you can't help to fell in love with the city. Later when the story picks up, you get bored by the city and it's repetitiveness. Somehow it's not balanced enough, and this is holding the game back from what it could have really achieved. Collectibles are meaningless, and are a complete waste of time. I like that there are 2 extra stories added with the DLC's, which is warmly welcomed, and fresh air for the mafia like story. This only enriches the game, and shows how much was put in to details. But also not details that usually a gamer wants. For example I missed how much freedom GTA San Andreas gave you with your character and car customization, also the RPG elements.
    A lot of critics claim this game was an amazingly strong and superb game, but I beg to differ, when all I had to do was look back on their previous game, and saw that this was only a shell of a game. It lacked a lot of content, and also gameplay polish was required. I didn't feel free in this open world, and this gave me an inner conflict whether this game is 8 or 7.
    Overall it's a good game, which is held back by some of it's factors. Slight pacing issues, but mostly lack of content, and also some minor gameplay issues. This felt like a step back content wise from GTA SA.    … Expand

    лучшая игра с отличным дизайном города который придает атмосферу в игру. Интересные персонажи, были две миссий которые мне хорошо запомнились это ограбление банка и самая последняя где нужно преследовать главного злодея. Не знаю что там за проблемы пк-версий
    Но я заметил лишь один минус это управлением вертолетом вот оно реально неудобное.
    А музыка просто шикарное вообщем игра навеки    лучшая игра с отличным дизайном города который придает атмосферу в игру. Интересные персонажи, были две миссий которые мне хорошо запомнились это ограбление банка и самая последняя где нужно преследовать главного злодея. Не знаю что там за проблемы пк-версий

    A great technical advanced engine and very nice graphics, but a boring and slow paced game, with a childish story a cheesy dialoges like a b class movie, very bad, thats in my opinion ruins the game play, nothing very original, a very dark sad climate on the city and overall, a not persuasive protagonist, a 7 score is a very optimist view on game, i gave that score in respect to the effortA great technical advanced engine and very nice graphics, but a boring and slow paced game, with a childish story a cheesy dialoges like a b class movie, very bad, thats in my opinion ruins the game play, nothing very original, a very dark sad climate on the city and overall, a not persuasive protagonist, a 7 score is a very optimist view on game, i gave that score in respect to the effort of programmers and people who archive that technnical superb work, but not a super fun game! sometimes in the missions you feel like doing some work really, not relaxing and enjoying. thats bad… Expand

    GTA IV is one of the best games of all time ! This gta game made the series go from a simple funny drive'n shoot game, to a realistic game, satire of the society of consumption and very violent but funny game. This gta, was released in 2008 and the graphics are gorgeous, the physics engine is pretty realistic and the gameplay is very easy. The missions are not all memorable, a lot of themGTA IV is one of the best games of all time ! This gta game made the series go from a simple funny drive'n shoot game, to a realistic game, satire of the society of consumption and very violent but funny game. This gta, was released in 2008 and the graphics are gorgeous, the physics engine is pretty realistic and the gameplay is very easy. The missions are not all memorable, a lot of them are lame, drive from point A to point B, pick up someone, go kill this dude, but some of the missions are just so great, that you will always remember them ! like the heist: Three Leaf Clover, Truck Hustle, Museum Piece, Tunnel of Death and Wrong is Right.
    I would definitely tell you to buy this game for 40€ or less. This game is a blast and everything is free, there is nothing to buy. Greatest game of the early 2000's.

    Aufgabe ist es, ein Programm namens "GTA4" auf einem Laptop mit Nvidia-Grafikarte und Windows 8 (oder 10) zum Laufen zu bringen. Dafür hat der Spieler eine Unmenge an Aufgaben zu lösen, angefangen beim Erstellen diverser Accounts, teils bei obskuren, mittlerweile nicht mehr unterstützten Diensten, dem Installieren diverser zusätzlicher Windows-Komponenten, umfangreiche Einstellungen für die Launch-Exe (Stichworte wären etwa Administratorenrechte und Kompatibilitätsmodi) und vieles mehr! Die Rätsel, die der Spieler lösen muss, sind vielfältig, komplex und kreativ. So wird bspw. der Produktschlüssel, den man mehrmals immer wieder an diversen Stellen eingeben muss (zum Beispiel, um speichern zu können!) nicht akzeptiert, dann wird die Grafikkarte nicht erkannt, der Ladebildschirm hängt ewig und so weiter und so fort ...
    Und selbst, wenn man meint, es geschafft zu haben und sich endlich mit dem Programm "GTA4" beschäftigen kann, kommen wie aus dem Nichts neue Aufgaben, wie das plötzliche zufallsgenerierte Einfrieren des Programms, das als Bonus gleich die Benutzung des ganzen Betriebssystems verunmöglicht. Toll!
    Besonders positiv hervorheben möchte ich, dass Cheaten (vulgo: "Support") nicht möglich ist und der Spieler alle Lösungen eigenständig anhand seiner Computerkenntnisse oder Recherchefähigkeiten in den Weiten des Internets finden muss!

    Spielspaß für Stunden ist somit garantiert, in denen der Spieler, quasi nebenbei, fast die gesamte Bandbreite der menschlichen Gefühlswelt drchlaufen wird. Angefangen von Vorfreude, über Verwunderung, Ärger, Frust, dann wieder Hoffnung, Euphorie, Stolz, abgelöst wieder von Verzweiflung bis hin zu purem Hass ist alles dabei.     I love it. Legendary. Wow amazing game. 10/10. This is the best open world game franchise and this time it outdid itself. NB is now a legend because of this game. Stunning visuals, breathtaking cut scenes, awesome gameplay and the biggest map ever. The city of New York comes alive in this game like nothing I've ever seen. A work of art. Rockstar rocking.

Aca vivimos las aventuras de Nico Belic un serbio que escapa de su pais en guerra a vivir el sueño americano. al menos eso es lo que su primo le cuenta. al llegar descubre que la ciudad esta llena de drogas, armas y muerte. con la ayuda de aliados y otros personajes trata de salir adelante pero su pasado lo vuelve aGT4 fue el primer juego de rockstar en la nueva generacion jugabilistica.     I still remember how badly optimised this game is on Windows. I was having the top hardware at the time of release but I couldn't get over 30fps. Game is also loaded with bugs. Story is far too dark and there is a lot less content than GTASA. IMO, trying to be realistic is a huge mistake of the GTA franchise - it killed the charm and humour present in the GTA3 era releases.

Where do I begin, well for starters the game would not even launch, no matter how many times I tried, I had to download a mod that fixed that problem for me. But when I first played the game the setting were on the lowest possible, and the game looked terrible, and it wouldn't even let me change the settings. Again I gotGta 4 is a great game on the consoles, but the PC port feels rushed. Where do I begin, well for starters the game would not even launch, no matter how many times I tried, I had to download a mod that fixed that problem for me. But when I first played the game the setting were on the lowest possible, and the game looked terrible, and it wouldn't even let me change the settings. Again I got a mod that fixed that problem as well. The game also suffers from constant frame-rate drops, and crashes that become annoying after a while, and there is no way of telling when the game is going to crash, so make sure you save at all times. I know it is not my PC, because I have the best graphics card, and processor currently available. Until Rockstar decides to fix these issues, I can't recommend the game to you on PC. Just buy it on Xbox 360 or Playstation 3… Expand

Niko Bellic is a well-written video game character, he is given character development throughout the game, Roman Bellic, Niko's cousin is lovable and loves bowling and their relationship as cousins are well presented.The Characters are given time to develop and given the fact it focuses on the story more than the customisation and has smaller maps than it's previous game San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto 4 still improves from it.The missions are repetitive in earlier parts but because of the story I don't really notice it. The story is where Grand Theft Auto 4 shines it is the most detailed story in any grand theft auto game, it is realistic and dark .

    The game might have smaller map, less vehicles and less customisation but because of the serious tone, well written characters and deeper story line made this game great and it is one of Rock Star's best Games.    … Expand

I get bored and.. i think was not good. Missions are 50/50. Some missions are very boring and no sense. Otherwise are good, verry good. The Graphics are good, not the best but is ok.     Simply my all time favourite and Best GTA ever. The story is great and involving, characters so deep, probably the best Rockstar created so far. Atmosphere so grim and depressive sometimes.     I like the way Rockstar went with this GTA. I enjoyed the single player missions, the story and characters. In my opinion, the soundtrack is the best one of all GTAs. If you ignore the day one optimization for PC, this game was incredible. My score is 8 out of 10.

GTA San Andreas is my most favorite game ever released and GTA IV, as a successor, is a huge dissapointment for me.

    not sure about the game, but if you want to play, you have to spend at least an hour getting behind some drm crap, creating microsoft live profile, rockstar games profile, restart the game 5 times, authentize mail and so on. definetely not recommended to anyone who just want to play.

Also, the underground subway is surprisingly extensive and large and is the site of the fabled Rat Man. Although proven fake, it is still awesome to go down there and relive the nostalgia of the Rat Man. Sometimes, even, I role-play and pretend I'm seeking out the Rat Man. The subway is easily the most interesting part of the map to me. Overall, GTA IV is a decent game, it was a huge misfire from Rockstar that wasn't as good as the previous games. 6/10 (OK)… Expand

    same game play mode in the entire game, you spend more time traveling to the mission than completing it, the only challenge games are the minigames, even the dates are repetitive. Obviously the high rates was for the graphics and free run mode.

    This game have some optimization problems and you may need a decent system. All performance issues at the side the game is actually very well written. Filled with character and a dark vibe the story is very well made. Gameplay can be a bit clunky but overall it's immersive and you never feel alone in this lively city.

    Absolutely amazing experience. The perfect amount of action, humor, and customization to make every gamer happy. Missions are kept interesting, the story is always kept interesting with lots of plot twists. The open world is large with plenty of vehicles and interaction with civilians and also hidden missions when you pass by certain ones.     The radio is just the best soundtrack I ever heard. Main defaults: dumb police, disappearing cars and very very bad acrobatics. Otherwise, such a pleasure!

    Just your usual hack and slash GTA game, where you do missions, and wreak havoc on Liberty City. Not the most amazing plot I've ever come across, and I can't say I'm too impressed with the game overall, considering the constant tweaking I had to do with the settings in order to make this poorly optimized PC port run smoothly. Not horrible, but definitely nothing to get excited for.

    rockstar did a major screw up with the PC port but it got "kinda" patched. New engine opened new modding opportunities. Bad voice acting. Niko's serbian sounds like some douchebag from the us trying to fit in in a group of slavs. Giving the player choices was a bad idea imo. Indeed, the world is not as big as in GTA San Andreas, but in GTA IV it is rich in detail. There are interesting characters and different activities to do besides the story-missions.     Grand Theft Auto IV is a massive, amazing, beautiful game. For consoles, that is.

    It seems that the great aspects of this game, and though there are many of them, are vastly outweighed by the simple fact that Rockstar Games couldn't take the time to even do as much as simply pretend that they care about their PC gaming fans.

And what is the #1 reason why anyone would wait to get GTA on the computer? For mods of course, and Rockstar made it pretty easy for the modders to make their mods. I have played through it many times and have found that I'm always finding new and exciting mods to use. There are currently 4,165 car mods on GTAinside.com alone, and that number grows all the time. I have only found one bug with the game, but I'm not allowing it to tarnish my score, and that is due to the fact that the bug is entirely a third-party fault. The bug in question is the SMPA60 Unrecoverable Fault, which is caused when a mod maker does not update mesh deformation on a car model. This causes that game to crash at random times, often at checkpoints in missions. This also can lead to a corrupt save file, but can often be fixed by moving all saved cars out of their parking spaces. This bug has caused some trouble but I have no qualms with restarting my game and playing through the story again, as it is a well written, gritty, and dark story that manages to draw you in and not let you go. The humor is dark, the action intense, what more could you want? 10/10… Expand

I don't usually play games that long because something new comes out and I switch games but this one seems to never run out of stuff to do. The graphics aren't amazing but this also released back in 2008.     Nice game, but not good enough to be considered the best chapter of GTA saga.
    In comparison to GTA San Andreas does not have that atmosphere that I remember very well so far.
    The city is small and gray. Of course, it's New York, but I remember better the Liberty City of GTA III.
    Another defect is the bad optimization on PC.

    Points for the fantastic graphics, but unfortunately, the game is so painfully laggy that it's beyond the point of being playable. Even after trying everything to fix the situation, this game just doesn't want to cooperate with my PC. Hopefully, Rockstar is able to avoid these kind of bugs in future games.

It has so many glitches and bugs it is not even fun in any way. I played a console version at a friend's house, and cars still can't turn when going over 5 MPH. This game is a disaster.     This is still an outstanding game. I'm waiting for GTA V for PC (or PS4) but the graphics, music, missions, shooting mechanics (even with controller), are just great. This is much fun to play. And the best of this game is the humor. I almost can't believe this game is already 6 years old. The satiric humor on the radio stations is still spot-on, aiming at the current western society.

All the other GTA games had good characters at least. GTA IV? Nope. At least GTA IV: TBoGT made some of them interesting. The world is so drab and devoid of ineteresting environments. Rockstar turned GTA III's Liberty City from a thrilling, backstabbing, gang and drug filled world into 40,000 identical city streets with only the drugs kept into it. Other characters you meet throughout your "adventure" can become you "friends". What does this mean? It means that Roman will call you every 5 minutes to go bowling. Packie will call you every 5 minutes to throw darts, and your terrible plot twist of a girlfriend will want to go out with you on a date every 5 minutes. There's like to clothes stores which sell all the same drab, greyish colors of the city. The only reason I'm giving this game a five is that, being the young boy I am, This was my first GTA game, and even though the missions were repetitive, I thought open world games were so cool. The idea of roaming around a huge area was foreign to me, and I loved every second of it. Anyway, if you want to know what GTA IV was striving to be, (a fun game with realistic, but colorful, graphics and story) download Just Cause 2. It is my favorite open world game (San Andreas being 2nd place, of course). Get it on PC, but use a gamepad of some sort.… Expand
