    It would be blasphemy for me to say that I have not been waiting for this porting since the release of God of War on Sony PlayStation 4, back in 2018, when I first watched its passage on YouTube due to the fact that I am a "PC boyar", I told myself that it was created for PC. Eagerly reading the days before the release of the PC port, I was looking forward to this game. After waiting forIt would be blasphemy for me to say that I have not been waiting for this porting since the release of God of War on Sony PlayStation 4, back in 2018, when I first watched its passage on YouTube due to the fact that I am a "PC boyar", I told myself that it was created for PC. Eagerly reading the days before the release of the PC port, I was looking forward to this game. After waiting for the release, I must admit, at first I was impressed by the graphics, which even at the time of January 2022 is amazing. The combat system on the keyboard and mouse is intuitively simple, complex, intuitive and works perfectly. The only note to the animation of special techniques, because it is continuous and, in some moments of the game (in battles against Valkyries and Wanderers), can play against the player. It is also worth highlighting that despite the colorful fighting and acrobatics of the movements of Kratos and Atreus (the protagonists of the game), it is sufficiently monotonous and can very much, in the early stages of the game, get bored (before the appearance of a second weapon that animates the combat system). The gameplay itself is very similar to an RPG, with its elements of exploring the world, collecting objects, studying locations and the history of the world, which, I must admit, dilutes the attitude to the game extremely much, against the background of the previous parts. From my point of view, this decision does not affect the attitude to the game (yes, you expect from the God of War, actually "war", and "meat", abundantly present in the prequels, but because of the plot and, one might say, age, this decision to slow down the gameplay can be considered successful). As for the plot: it is, without exaggeration, incomparable. A kind of "Road movie", telling about the goal of getting from point "A" to point "B", but skillfully playing on the genre itself and creatively, most importantly very skillfully, throwing up "unexpected turns" and setting the right mood. I would like to mention separately that the developers, with extreme care and reverence, approached the interaction of the plot and the history of the world order of Scandinavian mythology. Of course, there are a number of quite personal questions to plot solutions. Firstly: a very rapid transition of Atreus to uncontrolled behavior (fortunately not for long). Secondly: a rather controversial attitude to the interaction of Freya and Baldur (especially just before the end of the game). Regarding the relationship to secondary and third-rate characters, there are no questions. In many ways, it's fascinating to look at Brock and Sindri's interactions with the protagonists, and Mimir's stories are incredibly fascinating to listen to (it's a pity that such interactions, to a greater extent, take place in a boat). It is also worth noting the presence of several other worlds of the Yggdrasil World Tree. They are very picturesque and, most importantly, different from each other. Alvheim is an insanely beautiful world, but due to my dislike of the local nature and its population, I can't say that it is my favorite. Helheim truly conveys the oppressive atmosphere of the Scandinavian analogue of Hell, and the mood is conveyed very correctly, because in the interval of visiting this world, Kratos travels alone (Mimir does not count, because he has little influence on the development of events). Regarding Muspelheim and Nifelheim: these are optional worlds to visit, which also very skillfully and competently reveal the essence of their being, meaning and history. In many ways, I have a sufficient dislike for Nifelheim, because the implementation of the "ever-changing labyrinth workshop" does not look very skilful (purely the author's opinion), and in combination with the "mortifying fog", it looks quite repulsive. Jotunheim, as the final world, sets incredibly correct and very strong moods before the end of the adventure. From all of the above, it is worth concluding that the game is great, but not without drawbacks. Also, according to the author, in the future sequel, God of War: Ragnarök, the game should focus on mobility in battles, diversity of opponents (because, according to the author, there are not very many of them in this game and, in some aspects, they are extremely similar to each other), epic Boss fights (the right mood is felt exclusively at the final meeting of the protagonists with Baldur), as well as the expansion of weapons ammunition, because for the "God of War" having only two guns is ridiculous. In conclusion, it is worth adding that the author does not take his opinion to the above-described "minuses" to the public. This article is a decision to share your experience and thoughts, because someone will be able to find advantages in these shortcomings. Thank you for your attention.… Expand

    I passed it 100 percent 3 times and never regretted it, the best game that ever came out. No bugs, no friezes, everything is perfect in it. I recommend you check it out, you won't regret it.

    Un juego prácticamente perfecto en casi todo lo que propone.
    Visualmente espectacular con una historia y narrativa muy bien logradas y que no rompen el ritmo de juego en casi ningún momento.
    Si tuviera que señalar un defecto sería la baja variedad de enemigos, que si, son muy pocos y terminan siendo a lo mucho unos 5 o 6 minijefes que se repiten durante todo el juego pero con recolores,    Un juego prácticamente perfecto en casi todo lo que propone.

    This games port to PC couldn't be any better. I went from playing this game on PS4 to playing on PC and the graphics difference was incredible, especially if you have a good PC and monitor. The gameplay feels smooth and responsive on keyboard and mouse, making killing enemies as easy as ever. If you haven't played this game I 100% recommend it, you will not regret it.

The game as a whole reminded me of Prince of Persia games, which I miss greatly. Surprisingly to me, unlike previous titles on God of War series, this game is not in the same genre as Devil May Cry. However, I really didn't feel like the game suffered for this change.

    GoW has profound lore and story. The groundwork of the gameplay is solid, and the art department did a phenomenal job. In the beginning, enemies felt a bit spongy, but as Kratos learned more moves, the combat became exponentially more fun. Especially after getting the Blades of Chaos, combat switches into high gear. I found myself clenching my controller, grunting, and even screaming as I lay waste with the chained blades.

    The story is very deep for a game of this genre. The relationship between Kratos and Atreus is too real at times. I love how we never see some of the characters like Kratos' wife and Atreus' mother Faye, Odin, and Thor, and yet we get to know so much about them. Especially the build-up of expectation around Odin and Thor captivated me, and I can't wait to play Ragnarok on PC. All the supporting characters were interesting, and I never got bored of Mimir's stories.

    There are only a few things that keep this game from being perfect for me. The spongy enemies in the early-game, have lots of fillers like long transition animations, and backtracking, and on higher difficulties, the enemies get even tankier.

    Overall I loved the game. I had a long un-scratched itch for action-adventure games like Prince of Persia, Darksiders, Soul Reaver, Beyond Good and Evil etc.    … Expand

    It's undeniably a high quality game in terms of presentation and performance. It is also the standard go to formula for a AAA console game, third person action adventure hack & slash looter with limited rpg elements with the drawbacks of console when it comes to UI and inventory management.
    The combo system isn't as in depth (or hard to pull off) as in say Devil May Cry games but there is    It's undeniably a high quality game in terms of presentation and performance.     The combo system isn't as in depth (or hard to pull off) as in say Devil May Cry games but there is some thought required of what combos and tactics to use for certain enemies. But once you've learned the tactics it isn't too hard on normal if you've played similar games before. I aced the achievements on my first playthrough. I remember the older GoW games on PS3 were way harder, maybe due to the lacking hardware or game design (or I just sucked back then).
    Anyway, I enjoyed the game and the story even though I'm not sure I'll run through it again in NG+. Maybe in a few years. And I do recomend it for fans of the genre as it is an epic title. I also recomend using a controller over K & M.

    As for the PC port, a very good one. Ran locked 100 fps at Ultra and 3440x1440 with very rare hick ups. The bad is as of writing this it does not support exclusive fullscreen, only window mode wich will be an annoyance for those of you wanting to have a different resolution on the desktop and the game. And I had 2-3 crashes due to memory leak wich I fixed on my rig by turning off intel intergrated graphics. Sony has also acknowledged and found some issues with memory leak wich they have or are in progress with fixing it as of writing this.    … Expand

The story is presented nicely but never progresses beyond a kid (your son) complaining and making remarks which grows tiresome. Game really drags near the end.     Absolute master piece. Beautiful graphics and decent performance (although it could have more stable fps whe loading a new area). The sound department did an amazing job with the music, sound effects and voice actors. The characters, the story and the combat system are also great.

    Amazing game perfect in every sense. I could not find any flaw. Superb acting/voicing, story, gameplay, visuals, technically polished. If you didn't play it yet I envy you: amazing and touching adventure awaits you! Can't wait for another game in these marvelous series.

    There are so many fantastic moments in this game. Not one moment are you getting tired of the chemistry between Kratos and Atreus, or their mission. The gameplay is seamless and aggressive with no setbacks in any sort of way. While the bosses may become repetitive, they are still a welcome to battle because it's so intense.

    There aren't many games like God of War that leave an impression on me, but this one is special. Perfect from start to finish.    … Expand

It is the fifth major installment in the long standing God of War series, which up until this game has dealt exclusively with Greek mythology. I am a total newcomer to this series and part of the appeal for me was the new Norse mythology series which started with this game. Now I did not expect any miraclesGod of War is 2022 PC release of the 2018 PS4 highly praised action adventure game. It is the fifth major installment in the long standing God of War series, which up until this game has dealt exclusively with Greek mythology. I am a total newcomer to this series and part of the appeal for me was the new Norse mythology series which started with this game. Now I did not expect any miracles in terms of graphics, but boy was I wrong. The game look stunningly beautiful, super hi-res textures, greater Norse colors and several huge breathtaking animations (mostly in the first parts of the story). In this regard, the game was spotless. It must have been quite a step up in graphics quality from the PS4. Next thing I loved is the lore. Norse mythology appeals to me quite a lot and this game is full of it. Actually that was the thing that brought my attention to the God of War. Obviously the developers bend the mythology here and there to fit their God of War universe (quite a lot actually), but I think it is done with love and I had mostly no problems with it. Next thing is the music, which was great, topical, non intrusive. And all these together make up the atmosphere of the game. Obviously it was fantastic. So far so good right? Well there were a few things I did not like about the game. Now the story as such is not bad, but generally it is a little bit predictable, I do no like that. Before I started playing I thought I would have tough time with the kid, but it was not so bad, Atreus kinda grew on me a little bit. The relationship between him and his father is maybe a little bit one-dimensional given that it is the centerpiece of the whole game. Sometimes the game cannot hide its console roots, for example the controls are really console like, I do not like that. The combat is a bit souls like, also not my favorite way of combat, but not bad either. The map is stupid, you cannot really zoom in or see paths or anything really. And the manual save (probably added for PC only?) did not work for me at all, any time I tried to load a manually saved position, I started at a previous checkpoint regardless. I played on hard difficulty and it was plenty hard for me, I never really thought about trying the highest difficulty. The story and the whole game really, is pretty short and small in size. Marginal horse armor type microtransaction and no SJW bull at all. Wow, I almost did not want to believe that. Good job.

    First few hours really got me, I was thrilled and thought this was gonna become one of my all time favorite. But then it kinda ebbed away and I was left with conflicting feelings, I was entertained but the game initially promised more. It is a pity that it took them four years to release God of War on PC. Like PC version is only an afterthought? As a PC master race, I find this unacceptable. Final Verdict: 83 %    … Expand

    God of War sin duda es un paso adelante en la franquicia que eclipsa a los anteriores que, en su mejor caso, eran mediocres. Y es que GoW reinicia en muchos sentidos la franquicia y la cambia profundamente en todos los sentidos. Primero, la historia, ahora importa y tiene interés y no es una sucesión de estupideces por justificar más violencia gratuita sino que hay una evolución deGod of War sin duda es un paso adelante en la franquicia que eclipsa a los anteriores que, en su mejor caso, eran mediocres. Y es que GoW reinicia en muchos sentidos la franquicia y la cambia profundamente en todos los sentidos. Primero, la historia, ahora importa y tiene interés y no es una sucesión de estupideces por justificar más violencia gratuita sino que hay una evolución de personajes, muchos más grises, etc. Además, el tratamiento de la mitología (aún con algunas libertades) es mucho mejor aquí que en lo anterior, lo cual para mi es muy importante. Añadimos a esto una jugabilidad realmente buena, que brilla en todos sus aspectos desde el combate a la exploración, y el juego es realmente redondo. Quizás le habría venido bien algo más de progresión en el árbol de habilidades y esas cosas, llega un punto que si eres un poco completista tienes muchos más puntos de experiencia y dinero del que realmente vas a poder usar jamás. Y sin duda le habría venido bien algo más de variedad de enemigos, aunque los que hay son suficientemente diferentes entre si como para que no se note demasiado. Y tengo sentimientos encontrados con respecto a la región de las nieblas porque no entiendo por qué meter una región a farmear en un juego así, si no es por alargar las horas de juego artificialmente.

    Gráficamente el juego es espectacular, con escenarios y localizaciones muy diversas y que van cambiando con los eventos y unos personajes muy detallados y cuidados desde en sus animaciones de combate a las expresiones faciales, etc. El sonido es igualmente impecable, con una música excelente, unas voces que transmiten un montón y unos efectos de sonido perfectos. Además, al menos en mi partida, no me encontré ningún bug. Eso si, el port a PC debería haber estado algo más optimizado y sin duda no hay justificación que se me ocurra para que no haya una opción para poner el juego a pantalla completa.

    Pero vamos, algunas sombrillas puntuales en lo que es una experiencia excelentísima que realmente vale la pena. Una maravilla de juego. Un 9.    … Expand

    Хорошая история в красивой обертке. Если привык играть в игры с открытым миром, то игра может не пойти (игра жестко коридорного типа).

    I had so much fun. The story was moving, and at some points taught this old man how to be a better father. The Norse Mythology was handled in a new and respectful way.     One of the best videogame experiences for me. It is a truly well-crafted scenery and story with a satisfying and fluid gameplay. Filled with interesting side quests, it took about 40 hours to do everything,except some chests that were left behind. Kudos for the single shot camera. Glad they ported it to PC.

    This game is just very awesome. Don't skip it, is a true MUST Play. A new beginning for Kratos, i've hoped that had a third game but... Ragnarok is already here.

    I finally had the opportunity to play God of War, which I could never play for a long time because I never had a Playstation. I have to say that I am biased towards the game, because there is a Game of the Year issue that we all know. GoW stole Game of the Year from RDR 2. Yes, he stole it. At least that's what I thought. After playing RDR 2, I had never, ever (for a long time at least)I finally had the opportunity to play God of War, which I could never play for a long time because I never had a Playstation. I have to say that I am biased towards the game, because there is a Game of the Year issue that we all know. GoW stole Game of the Year from RDR 2. Yes, he stole it. At least that's what I thought. After playing RDR 2, I had never, ever (for a long time at least) convinced myself that no game could ever be this good. How good could GoW be? As I do in every review, I will examine GoW in 3 stages and try to explain how good a game it is.

    Let's start with the art design first. GoW looks great. Simply great. I have never seen realms in Norse mythology portrayed so beautifully. Nilheim's irritability, Jotunheim's gigantic and sublime portrayed so beautifully that this game. Realms is the first part of the game, of course, but it's not just that. The game looks beyond great indoors, too. Recently, games have been trying to avoid the quality of the coating and give importance to the lighting, aiming to both look beautiful and not put a load on the graphics card. But GoW has better skins that I haven't seen in a long time. Of course, although this upsets players who do not have good graphics cards, you can turn down the settings whenever you want. When we leave painting and go to music, we come across great music again. While the music isn't very characteristic, it's certainly not just epic war music. It was perfect for any music playing situation. The character voiceovers are also absolutely fantastic. It looks like they worked hard on the effects, even though it wouldn't normally be noticeable. Especially how beautiful the sound of that ax moving is.

    Story. As someone who hasn't played previous GoWs, the scenes referring to previous games even got me excited. Even though I didn't play it, I knew what a concept it was after all. I can say that I absolutely appreciate the game as a father-son story. The characters really make sense, nothing is rushed. As his father, we can watch Atreus grow up and change as he learns new things. Well, since we are not such a great father, it turns out to be a pleasant story to follow. However, my favorite part of the story is definitely the last 5 hours of the game. There is also a marvelous finale during this time when the enjoyment of the game is definitely at its maximum. So much so that this finale was made to get people excited for the next game. Although I am not a close follower of the series, I am curious about Ragnarok.

    Let's come to the subject where GoW failed the most compared to the other two categories. By the way, it's still one of the best games in terms of gameplay. However, the most mistakes are seen in the gameplay part. For example, the game's biggest flaw. There is no boss fight in the game. There is, but there is little. So the number of special bosses in the game is very small. However, boss fights are incredibly enjoyable. Normally it's not that bad to kill the same boss multiple times, because you'll see how much he's improved and how much easier he can kill now, but if you're killing that boss 6-7 times it's just boring now. The special bosses of the game are very enjoyable. Tired of the cinematic of the main bosses and looking for a challenge for yourself? Go cut the valkyries. The game is definitely enjoyable in terms of fighting mechanics. Whenever you get bored, you open a new feature and start using it. I'm not even counting shooting arrows with the guy next to you. Most begin to play a critical mission in war. Atreus is such a beautiful piece that for these fights, if you ask in the game, no one will say that he controls 2 people. But yes, we control two people in this game. Although the game does a lot to prevent you from getting bored, unfortunately, the variety of enemies is not enough after a while. However, this is just a minor fault of a very good game. It's not a big criticism.

    GoW is a very enjoyable game. I still don't think it's better than RDR 2, but I used to think it was incomparable. The two games are pretty comparable. Gaming tastes certainly vary from culture to culture. GoW is a very cinematic game. And a more refined game. I mean, you are playing a game and you are aware of it. RDR 2 is almost a simulation. And both are perhaps the best of its kind.    … Expand

I've played the previous entries when I was younger (even if I reckon I did not had the age to do that) and I liked it and so, but always thought Kratos was an jerk and never related to him. For me, the previous entries where just an excuse to see gore and boobas on the PS2. But damn, this 2018 entry... I even started to like Kratos after that. Good freaking plot, and theGreat game!     I loved this game on my ps4 in full hd at 30fps and it looked gorgeous, but playing it on pc is a hugely better experience.

    One of the best story driven games I have ever played. The gameplay is buttery smooth and left nothing desired for me. Rarely have I felt more attached to game characters than with Atreus and Kratos. I went the full length and got all achievements on Steam, which I rarely ever do. I really hope Sony decides to publish Ragnarök in the near future.

    Might be the best graphics I've ever seen in my life. It was an amazing game and I enjoyed every second of it. Although some of my friends thought it was a very bland game, I really liked this game.

    normal its a 9/10 because no "Raytracing" but the port itself is a Perfect 10 - HDR is super nice with the right 1000+ OLED TV. !

    Excellent PC port. Runs very well, 80 fps, in high/ultra custom settings at 4k, DLSS Quality on an RTX 3070. The game has a very minor memory leak, that will occassionally cause a quick crash after a couple of hours. So it's an 8/10. It would be a 10/10 if not for that issue. Gameplay is smooth, graphics are gorgeous, story is epic. Despite the small memory leak issue, I'd say pick it upExcellent PC port.     Before playing the game, I already made up my mind that it would be a 10 from me. After the release of the game on PS4 in 2018, I watched all the cutscenes on YouTube since it was a cash cow for PS and it was never gonna hit the PC anyway. I was overjoyed when they released their PC trailer.     This is a 9 out of 10.
    9.0 / 10 to be exact.
    Presentation, animations, graphics, acting, story, almost everything are extremely well done.
    But the gameplay itself is a bit more regular, and maybe even a bit boring at times.
    Excellent game, first play through is a blast

Witcher 3 was not perfect, it's a 9.6 for me.     An AMAZING experience, the gameplay is soo satisfying, the story is very interesting and the graphics are crazy! I had some issues on the Lake of Nine when i was facing the entire lake, the frames would drop to 30 on a RX 6800 which is kinda crazy, but it didn't bother me because the moment i faced my back to the lake, the frames would go to the 90s again.

    I totally recomend this, even at 40€ almost 4 years after launch, one of the best gaming experiences one can have, just like the entire GoW franchise!    … Expand

    God of War is more or less a game for everyone who is not afraid of action gameplay and appreciates good narrative and production quality. It's also great to watch, so it can be recommended to extended family members over the series. [Issue#317]

    After more than 55 hours spent playing, I’m still awed by just how great God of War is. This is the result of a clear, determined vision, its separate elements harmonizing almost perfectly to deliver an experience that understands the series’ blood-soaked origins but is also not afraid to push it into a more mature and nuanced direction. Kratos and Atreus’ relationship develops naturally as does their understanding of the foreign land they’re journeying through. The story takes its time, never rushing its satisfying reveals, and making way for a set of surprisingly personal boss fights, while the continuous camera shot used throughout the game is a masterstroke in terms of presentation. All this is built around a snappy and responsive combat system that has more depth than you’re initially led to believe. There are more jaw-dropping surprises I didn’t touch upon simply because it’s best that you experience them for yourself. Looking back, aside from the port’s few performance flaws, my only real complaint has to do with Sony taking this long to bring the game to PC.

    God of War merges all its gameplay elements into one excellent package, dressed in unparalleled direction and amazing storytelling. The scale of the narrative, the divine but always human Kratos, the "boy" who sees everything with childlike enthusiasm, all this offers the player a thrilling story that has at its heart the most human and natural relationship between a parent and his child. Regardless of preference, God of War is a must-see title. Benchmark for each and all its elements and still fresh in 2022.
