Insane graphics, perfect level design, smooth movement and gameplay. 1 hit 1 kill mechanics which makes playing a real challenge even for Dark Souls or Hotline Miami fans. 10/10 cannot expect more from this type of game. Runs very well on PC, decently optimized.

I rather liked the game, the music is very cool it blends with the game, however the only problem is that the developers didn't put any save points, so when you start a level YOU MUST FINISH IT!

Отличная, быстрая и очень интересная игра. А боёвка "1 удар - 1 труп", что работает в обе стороны - это кайф. Вариативность боёв просто безумная.

Then there are titles like Portal that rely less on precision and more about flinging you across the room. But in both of those titles, the combat was never the main focus, but that’s all set to change with Ghostrunner. Set in a dystopian future, you are the Ghostrunner a cybernetic katana-wielding ninja and honestly, I could wrap this review up now. You are a ninja cyborg, enough said, Game of The Year! Round of applause! Ok see you next time.

Yeah, unfortunately, it is not that Simple

Ghostrunner has a lot going for it, while you are pretty much going through a series of corridors and factories I’m loving the cyberpunk aesthetic which even on minimalist settings looks incredible. I mean sure, it reminds me that my computer will sooner burst into flames then run Cyberpunk 2077 properly in a few weeks but I was wall-running, dodging and cutting grunts in half with synthwave in the background I was having heaps of run. That is when the game was at least agreeing with me while controlling Ghostrunner is fairly simple with jumping, dashing, wall-run hookshot and slow-mo bullet time, the game usually puts you into encounters with a lot of split-second thinking.

The basic crux of the game is you enter a section filled with gun touting enemies and you can’t progress until you’ve cleared it of all of them, further more there is no health bar, everything is one hit kill so if you get shot or miss a jump you have to restart the encounter all over again. The best way to take care of enemies is to jump towards them, enter slow mod so you can dodge their bullets and proceed to remove their spine from the rest of their body

While I do applaud the game for making it incredibly quick to resume encounters with nary any loading screens in sight, things can get pretty frustrating in some of the larger encounters, you have several different types of enemies all with their own different types of attacks to prepare for not to mention most of the time there is this shield protecting them that you have to get rid of first. The real issue is that there really is no room for error, taking a breather for a second just to get your surroundings will most likely result in a game over so you could find yourself constantly repeating segments so be prepared to die a lot, and the game knows this highlighting the number of deaths after every chapter

I have never been one to suffer from Motion Sickness but even I was feeling woozy in some areas of the game, the continuous bobbing up and down of the character and twist and turns when it comes to wall-running especially in later chapters when you have to slow-mo jump behind guards with shields around them.

There is a story but honestly when you are cybernetic ninja is that even relevant, you have a disembodied voice known as the Architecture talking with you throughout the entire game continuously going on about the antagonist of the game and what you need to do to save everyone. I’ve been wary of voices like that since the original Bioshock, just wondering when and/or if they inevitably turn on me.

Ghostrunner has a lot going for it, its an awesome concept that really could have benefited from some more fine-tuning. While there were times I was getting visually frustrated in segments, I couldn’t put the game down for long. It reminds me a lot of Katana Zero, basically the same slow-mo ninja concept but as a retro 2D game and I absolutely adored that title. While Ghostrunner is undoubtedly playing second fiddle in regards to Video Games about dystopian futures in 2020 It is still a game I would highly recommend checking out.

While not released with the rest of the platforms, there is a Switch version planned for release next month and I’m curious on how the game will look, I’m terrified about the thought of gyro-controls, cause flailing my arms around brings back some painful memories of the Wii.

    Pros:

    -Satisfying combat
    -Beautiful synth-wave soundtrack
    -Levels never get boring
    -Good voice acting

    Cons:
-There aren't any save points in the level. So if you have to exit the game, you'll have to replay the level to get back to where you are
-The boss fights aren't too unique, except the first one. The last 2 are just continuous parrying and dodging and then attack.
-The last level will take a heavy toll on you're pc/laptop, so be prepared for that.
    -Predictable plot, but doesn't matter.

Its been a while since i've played with good combat and parkour. You should definitely play the game.

An absolute Gem of Gameplay and game design. I simply never felt so much of a ninja in any other games before. the whole one shot kill can detract some , but when you understand that the objective is not just to tackle the levels, but to tackle them with style, the game gains a whole other level of deepness.

The art direction is also pretty well done.

    I absolutly loved this game.

The game is well made, have a smooth gameplay and love the 1 hit 1 kill mechanics. Ghostrunner would be better if there are save files per checkpoints. Because sometimes for people like me, I don't have the time to complete the whole level. So I have to play this game only when I have 30 minutes to 1 hour free time. I'm looking forward to see the save files feature in the future.

The bad - I don't like the 1 hit and you're dead. But it does feel very satisfying when you finally complete a section after hundreds of deaths. The game could have some more polish on the animations and edges of objects.

The good - Core gameplay is extremely well done and imaginative. It has an old school platforming feel. Introduction to new abilities and gameplay mechanics is done smoothly. Once you get the basic grasp of a new ability in a training section. You are then thrown into a trial by fire to test your skills and imagination to use the ability to it's fullest.

Lastly I was completely blown away by some of the sequences when learning new abilities. You are taken to essentially a training level designed around the ability. But rather than just a basic rundown and back to the action. The training sections are special and enjoyable in their own way.

    Would definitely recommend this game!

The execution of the narrative could have been a little bit better but I really liked it overall, it didn't feel like an afterthought; and that ending felt a little bit deeper than one might think at first glance. Best game I have played in 2020 by far.

Love to see the CyberNinja Hack n' Slash genre not dead. Hope to see a second game.

The game itself puts you in the shoes (hope robots have shoes) of "Jack".
A "Ghostrunner", who seems invincible during the opening cut-scene, until, you find out through gameplay that each scenario is a one hit kill. Both for you, and every enemy you face, evening the odds a small bit and keeping the game just difficult enough while still giving the player a large feeling of omnipotence. Thats what this game does so well. Keeping you engaged with a challenge while making you feel like a complete pro at the game. It does this by granting you small ability unlocks in line with the new and improved enemies your climb to the top of the "Tower".

It's break neck speed game play makes it akin to a "boomer shooter" while still offering other, more innovative ways to take down your foes, with the use of movement abilities, special powerful attacks that charge up over time and various pick ups throughout the levels.

It rounds it all off with an absorbing atmosphere of flickering neon lights and towering propaganda billboards in a post apocolyptic mega city. As well as the small cries of the tenants in the apartments you speed past as you cut through your foes. To the absolutely breath taking Soundtrack by Daniel Deluxe that you can't help but groove along to during your righteous techno-slaughter.

In summary, this game is THE hidden gem of 2020 and it is absolutely criminal that it hasn't been nominated for any awards (to my knowledge). My only real issue was the small length of the game, but i suppose no matter how well done a game is, it can't go on forever, sadly. i would of given this review a 9 for that reason, but that too, would be criminal.

10. The worst difficulty of a video game. the difficulty instead of being entertaining and fun the only thing it does is frustrate you, and a nonsense was that 1-shot enemies kill you. The game itself is good but it has a horrible difficulty and the controls felt exaggeratedly fast, I don't think I don't like the fast controls like warfreme but in this game you need to have reflexes like a **** ninja

The campaign has a small run time, getting upward to 6 hours on my first try but the game encourages the player to improve but showing their level timer and death counter, should the player want to improve their score the tools are all there.

The combat is fast-paced and while difficult it's not impossible, enemies are introduced in a long enough distance between them that they aren't throwing 2-3 enemies at one time and are expected to handle all that new info all at once. My only issue currently is the slight combat delay other players have experienced and the mantling. Sometimes when you click to swing it won't swing or will swing later than when you clicked. This didn't happen all the time but it was still frustrating. The mantling was definitely an issue in certain sections but overall not bad.

Ghostrunner is a unique game I see myself playing over and over again and will be definitely anticipating its future DLC and updates should the game receive any.

A great warm-up before entering the cyberpunk world. The game has surprisingly good graphics, is well-balanced, and is not just empty hustle and bustle. For the price of a good indie game, we have a great production aspiring to the AA+/AAA segment! Music and plot create the atmosphere well. The only downside - the number of my deaths and repetitions, the game is quite difficult.

The easiest way to describe Ghostrunner is to call it an illegitimate child of Hotline Miami and Mirror’s Edge. It fails to match the latter in terms of body awareness, but it makes up for it with well-thought-out, satisfying level design and looks great regardless of whether you’re putting your parkour skills to the test, or slicing enemies with your katana.
