There are HUGE issues after a certain point in progress, and it's not "there's no content" entitlement type stuff. Please do not blow loads of money on this game, you will only be left feeling hollow and frustrated that they aren't improving the game because you and everyone else is shoving money down Mihoyo's throat. They have no ethics, no standards, no desire to improve player experience unless it directly causes higher profits.

Enjoy the first few dozen hours, this game is beautiful, action is satisfying, and the game is full of potential. But if Mihoyo does nothing with said potential, then let this game crash and burn like it should. Tired of great games being held back by **** practices and greed.

Note: Problems with game will be much more apparent as you play farther into it. Please do not be ignorant and decide your stance before that point.

It has healing scenery and great OST.
There are good game play and attractive characters.
It's not just playing games, it's also about exploring the world.
Especially, the scenery of Liyue is very beautiful.
Most of all, I can enjoy it on the mobile too.

Its rly awful, this FREE TO PLAY its to expensive, i ready to pay full price for this game, but 60 dollars for this game it's a joke, that won't be enough for anything. Plz miHoYo, you make a great game, keep it alive, stop killing this project

Exploration is fun. I found it addictive and somewhat rewarding. The start of the game is easily 9 of 10 if not a full 10. Then the gacha mechanics start to kick in. The elemental combat system has been done and swapping characters to get elemental combos isn't really fun. The end game spiral abyss takes this mechanic to 11 requiring 2 teams to beat each floor.

    Again, it's probably

Again, it's probably a 9/10 if you just play for a while and quit when you get to end game (til a major content patch). Otherwise, there are better, cheaper games with similar end game. 1/10 for end game.

From my personal point of view, I hope everyone can play rationally and consider their economic strength! Because I personally played to level 30 without paying, in the following paragraphs, I will evaluate it as a free game.
The first is the advantages-beautiful characters, magnificent cities, beautiful music, relaxed and pleasant plot and style, as a game to kill time, play casually every day, the top level.
However, when we seriously evaluate it as a masterpiece, we will find a lot of loopholes-lack of later gameplay, too short plot, serious homogeneity of monsters, etc. These are fatal shortcomings for a normal game. For genshin impact, they are also important shortcomings, but they are not fatal. why? Because this is a long-term update game with a life cycle of several years. For this reason, although the current experience in the later stage of the game is relatively poor, I will not completely deny this game, but again, I would not consider this to be a good game. Regardless, I look forward to its future performance.

I was sure this was a Japanese game but found later that it was a Chinese company, the Japanese voice overs are top notch, very very impressive.
It has a gatchapon system, is the only drawback, you can waste serious money if you are into collecting characters, but most (if not all) of the game can be enjoyed paying zero, but you would not play with the characters you want. I would have preferred directly selling the characters, but they know what they want: the money of the poor whales with no restrain. Giving it a straight 10 because it is free, there are paid games that are way worse than this, but don't waste any money on this.

The game starts amazingly but purposely hide most of his features till rank 15-20.

Here what they don't want you to find out in the first days of play:

    1) The stamina system: called Resin in the game, it's the same stuff we see in any idle Asian product. The main problem it's that it's reward oriented and shared among any event. Basically unlike any other idle game here you either hunt for gold, exp or scrap materials. Also the in-game request are huge; with a 120 cap a boss takes 40 stamina to collect the reward ( 3 bosses and "see you tomorrow!" ... But you can always drop money to refill stamina )

    2) An huge empty world: It's cool to roam around when you feel it has a purpose but soon you realize that any chest in the open world it's just scrap materials and it loses any sense ( premium boxes may be the only exception ). All the good stuff come from instanced events that use the resin system. Field decent rewards seems to not re-spawn; so, after a first run, you go around collecting stone and plants and killing the same 3-4 monsters tipe.

    3) The gatcha: Sniping a hero it's surely not cheap with a 0.6% rate. ( On YouTube videos of famous streamers that dropped up to 10k$ for a specific 5* hero ), then you also realize that the game has a "constellation" and "refine" system and that to actually max a hero or weap you have to drop 8 of them. That's just insane.

    4) The rewards: With the insane resin system and such low drop rates you would except that at least the game has a nice currency flow.... Well... NO!. Most of the free stuff come from events and 1-time quests or rewards, once cleared them the drop goes to 0. A 10* pull cost 1600 diamonds and you can earn 50-60 of them daily. Timed events provide something like 200-300 diamonds for a week of efforts.

    5) What this game really is?: Don't get fooled by the a-rpg battles style and the open world mechanic this game it's just a full idle RPG like any other in the store ( actually even worse considering drop rates and stamina system ). It has rune system ( artifacts ), stamina system ( resin ), idle-RPG type lvling system based totally on the gatcha feature, daily dung, bosses and gold/exp events.

If you don't pay attention to the retarded story and annoying voice acting, there's a pretty well-defined gameplay loop with reasonably satisfying physics that would really REALLY benefit from being able to actually co-op the game instead of just killing stuff together. It's obvious the developers care about the game more than any other freemium pay-to-win mobile shovelware, with around ten trillion hours of reading if you actually care about the paper-thin plot and characters. Their premium (P2W) currency isn't terribly priced and doesn't really do much aside from give you good gear, however they have methods through which you can get those items without paying, so nothing remains exclusive. Even if the characters lore is shallow, each one feels like they could be viable and are very fun to use if given the proper gear and levels. The combat is really satisfying, usually requiring you to use a mixture of ranged and melee attacks kind of like the combat for Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's not a masterpiece but it's definitely a fun game with caring developers. Expand

After playing it for more than i should have ( around 40-50 hours ) I can safely say that It was a waste of my time. In fact EVERYTHING about this game is a waste of YOUR time.

Sure in the beginning you feel rewarded, exploration is fun, getting used to the combat everything is fresh. However sink as little as 10 hours and you will realize that this game was meant to be PAY to PLAY.

Gacha mechanics are a pure cancer. I have never enjoyed gambling and never will. There is NO WAY that anyone can say :" By adding gatcha mechanics this game can get better. " It is the opposite. Not only THE BEST CHARACTERS and THE BEST WEAPONS are LOCKED BEHIND LOTTERY / LOOT BOXES but also the CHARACTER PROGRESSION! ( some of the more powerful skills are locked behind Constellations ie. Skill Tree that you can only get by getting the DUPES of the same characters ).

Co Op is laughable as you are VERY limited to what you can do ( because chests and RESIN - a currency that limits how many Dungeons/Bosses you can do in a day )...

Combat is OVERHYPED and it revolves around DOING the MOST Elemental Combos ( that ofcourse REQUIRE 5 STAR Characters which I HAVE YET TO SEE or not since I have quit this game ). Not only there are no blocks or parries but you are pretty much forced to play around weaknesses of your enemies. If you don't have the damage well you are in for a LONG LONG and boring fight ( A lot of bosses such as FLYING ELEMENTALS can be only damaged when flying by archers or mages.... so yeah you will be WAITING A LOT... even more so when you haven't leveled your archer and the weapon you have hits like a wet noodle ).

The World is beautiful, exploration is fun and the characters are likeable but underneath all this lies a greedy predator waiting for you to open your wallet. ON EVERY POSSIBLE STEP. Your progression will become VERY VERY STALE to the point of getting maybe 1 wish per 2 days.... that is 1 chance at a lottery. ( You will not get what you want and most of the weapons are garbage. ) I never got a character or a weapon that I wanted. Sure you can make multiple accounts because in the beginning they will shower you with free LOTTERY tickets but its a waste of time if you ask me.

This could have been easily 7 or maybe even 8 out of ten but GATCHA and BORING COMBAT ( im sick of seeing SAME SLIMES and SAME GOBLINS ALL OVER THE PLACE! ) makes it for a really frustrating and slow experience. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

    To put this into perspective..
-You have to pay for the privilege of grinding a daily battlepass system each month, around $20 here.
-You have to pay even more for the gems to buy resin refills so that you can actually finish the battlepass on time (Resin is the stamina system in this game, you get 1 every 8 minutes but the natural generation is not nearly enough)
-The rates are the worst I've ever seen a gacha have, 0.6% for a 5* is already terrible on paper, but it's even worse when you have a 50% chance to get a weapon or character you don't want, making it 0.3% to get what you were aiming for.
-On top of this, the game is even more frigid with free rolls than any other gacha, even FGO, which itself is incredibly stingy with free rolls compared to other gacha, gives almost THREE TIMES as many rolls as GI.

The gear system is awful too, stats on any accessory are rolled randomly, and the game is designed so that only offensive stats are useful due to most 'end game' content being DPS races, so even in the rare scenario where you get a 5* trinket, you're very likely to end up with defense, defense %, HP, and HP%, all of which are completely useless. This system is designed to pressure players into buying more resin refills.
Additionally, 5* weapons can ONLY be acquired through rolling the gacha.

If the aggressive monetization is lessened, I would rate this game higher, but in its current state it should be avoided unless you're okay with MiHoYo squeezing every single penny out of your wallet.

Honestly speaking if the resin system is not removed, and character stamina, as well as crafting limitations are not revamped I doubt that this game will survive over a year on pc or console.

Dont know how they pulled it off, but it is one of the most entertaining gaming world. Characters are memorable, and visuals are on next level, intricate battle design makes the game fresh every time. Yeah monetizing factor is there, but you can ignore it and you will be fine. Lot more to come said by the developers, eagerly waiting for it

Even purchases such as the battlepass have challenges that require you to purchase additional in-game stamina (Keep in mind this battlepass can also cost money for the better rewards it gives). That's right this game has a stamina system, a feature usually reserved for idle mobile games. Many will argue that this IS a mobile game that got a console and PC port, but the games advertising and developers refuse to admit it. You are going to see a lot of overlap from PC, console and mobile users all applying their own standards to the game, but for a PC game this is not something I would recommend somebody invest too much of their time in to, because this game is out for blood (your wallet). I love this game. It has a huge potential and most important you can play it comfortable without and donation. Genshin Impact is looking much more better than most of Ubisoft's AAA titles.

But I think devs should fix the game's gacha rate. 0.600% chance for getting a character? Are you kidding? Also I think MihoYo should remove the resin system.

The game tried to find something in between all this and created the mess we see today.

You see people trying to defend the game by saying "This is a Gacha game. This is how it works. This is how it's been for years." Now all these things are complete BS.

Genshin isn't and was never intended to be your typical mobile gacha. It tried to appeal to the mainstream audience. The instant Genshin was being developed for PC, Switch and PS4 it rose above your typical Gacha game. It wanted to cater to the mainstream crowd. Now this creates the very big problem that is the difference between Mainstream gamers like PC, PS4, Switch and Gacha Addict mobile market. While gacha addicted mobile gamers are used to being fcked over by **** practices by those companies, the mainstream crowd is different. Some of them are completely new to the gacha system. Just accept the fact that gacha is a very bad monetization model, some games have implemented it in a nicer way which actually isn't bad, but Genshin monetization is just straight up ridiculous.

Genshin was promoted as JRPG from the very beginning instead of being your usual gacha mobile game. This is where most of the mainstream players expectations shattered. Things like being limited by stamina system for play is a norm practice in mobile games(Not all games do this but most of them do) BUT it's not in the mainstream market and this is something which is not acceptable when you go for broader market. You can't just expect them to conform to your **** stamina system and be all happy happy. You're gonna get backlash.

Resin(this absolute piece of **** item in Genshin)

Resin system is just ridiculous. While being already bad in the first place, it's way worse compared to even the stamina system of other mobile gacha games. Almost 95% of the stuff you do in the game is locked behind resin system. You wanna farm Mora? go spend resin, you wanna farm exp? go spend resin, you wanna farm artifacts? go spend resin, you wanna farm upgrade materials? go spend resin. What's even more ridiculous is the amount you need per dungeons, bosses and the amount you get.

Resin is capped at 120. So you can run hypostasis 3 times and poof it's gone. Once you get to higher level even running hypostasis 3 times doesn't give you enough material to level up your character. The regen rate is also crap 1 resin per 8 minutes.

With their rate of wishes, I've got nothing but 4 stars. I didn't want to top-up and get the 5 star not of my choices, so I've decided to quit. You can grind with the starting characters but it takes alot of time and some of the 5 star characters just made the game easier. Sadly, this still has alot of bugs during my time of play. Still its a china company so its typical they want you to top up in-game currencies and spin the gacha. Some of the mechanics and interface are terrible. Puzzle-wise its simple but time-consuming. One thing that I hate about this game is that they include gacha in their decks which make characters in this game scarce. Those big bosses was unbeatable late-game without good characters/ weapons.

In conclusion, you get the character the wanted, then its playable. If u get rubbish like I do, its unplayable. Pretty much a gamble/grind fest. The whole system just doesn't make sense for me. So that's a negative.

At face value this game is fantastic with decent gameplay and cast of characters with good visuals and sound/music. But let me go through the good and the bad with this review:

    -The Good-

-The Zelda BotW looking style is really good and captures the inspiration of the game. Even running in the lowest graphics setting on pc the game still looks good.

-There are two regions of the game one being the fantasy land themed region of Mondstadt which is the starting region and is the smaller of the two available regions and then the other being the Oriental fantasy themed area of Liyue which is the larger region. While the smaller region is pretty simplistic with enemy camps and some small villages here and there the larger region is filled with villages, ruins, mining encampments and other areas of discovery. Both maps even have their special statues that are called statue of the 7 which both regions have their own version themed around their own element that region worships as well as their own Oculus tokens to collect to max out the shrine of the region which gives adventure experience, currency, and even increase your stamina cap so you can run, climb, swim, etc more as you journey.

-The story is pretty ok for your typical anime adventurer from another world please help us do things as you look for your lost sibling scenario, I think what shines is the cast of characters you can meet along in your journey which you can also unlock as playable but the only issue is its through the gacha.

-The combat with characters you have is simple but highly customizable in a way. Each character you collect or get lucky to get are based around one of the 7 respective elements. While using different weapons, their combat styles along with accessories and element team composition play a role in how you will play. Elements even have a combined effect next to strengths and weaknesses to one another where you can really dish out damage, gain more defense against, or even break shields of an element yours is strong against.

-Standard gameplay is pretty much like BotW, people new to it will be ticked because of the stamina system but those who have played it won't be bothered because this game goes by the same principles. like jumping at the last bit of stamina to get that leap of faith jump to climb to top or finding different slope angles to rest on. There is even cooking in this game which plays a big role in your adventure where collecting everything nailed down really helps in your cooking, crafting, forging, etc.

    -The Bad-
While the game is good with the positives the negatives is what really drops this games score down:

-This is the big sting to this game. One this is a gacha game first and foremost since made by a Chinese developer nuff said. The character rates in this game is really bad with 5* characters having a 0.6%, 4* Characters and weapons being 5.1% and the rest filled by useless 3* weapons. This alone is the largest stink of the game since you would like to play the characters more than get useless gear that will just end up being used to level up your better 4* weapons that you craft or get unluckily out of the gacha. There is a pity system where every 10 pulls give you a 4* anything but it takes roughly 100 pulls to get a 5* while that does not sound bad the next worse thing on this is next.

-Lacking ways to get primogems which is the currency needed to do your gacha pulls. The rates used to be 5-10 per chest opened in beta but on release they nerfed it through the ground where common chest you get nothing and every other chest just tiers up from 2,5, and 10 based on chest rarity. All this to funnel you to spend nearly $200 usd to get that 5* pity pull since the price for the premium currency which converts to primogems on a 1 to 1 basi. A streamer even spent $2k irl money to get the chracter he wanted and then you have to turn around and pull them 6 more times to level their constellation 4* not much an issue if you get banner for them come up but terrible if you want to level the 5*.

The limiting system is also bad since it gates the 28+ game really hard. You only get 120 resin with barely any consumables to replenish it besides the ones you get for level up you can only use once. And doing dungeons to get stuff cost 20 resin to run while mini world bosses cost 40 and big bosses cost 60 and you only fight them once per week. It also costs $10 to use the 6 recoveries you are allowed to with primogems.

-Chests in game all drop garbage items besides a few select. You do get better rarities at higher world levels but it still ends up as all garbage for endgame and only reason to open them is increase AR.

It's a very beautiful game with cool characters but there are many problems with the game. Also it's an interesting story. Here are some of the biggest problems in the game that made me rate it a 4.

    1) The gacha system is Terrible. If you want a 5 star character then sucks to be you. It's a 0.6% chance of getting a 5 star. I did around 100 summons on 2 different banners and didn't get one 5 star. I also didn;t get that many 4 star stuff because i got many dupes of characters that i already have. There is a 90 pity system though which happens after you do 90 summons and if you don't get a 5 star in 89 summons then you are guaranteed to get it on the 90th pull. But the pity system isn't that good which ill explain in number 2.

    2) It's a VERY VERY grindy game. When you get around level 20 and up it starts to become pretty grindy. When you get to level 30 then you gotta grind a lot. The problem is the higher you get level wish the less you'll get primogems which are used to buy summoning crystals. It is VERY hard to get primogems and xp when you are higher level (around level 20 and up).

    3) There is a resin problem which makes it even more difficult to grind the game.

    4) The story is good but you need to be a certain level to do the main story. So basically you do chapter 1 and then you go on chapter 2 but you need to be like level 10. Then you complete that chapter and go on to chapter 3 but before you can go on you need to get around 3-5 levels before you can go on in the main story. That happens with every chapter. Imagine that when you are level 30 and it gets very hard to level up and you need to be like level 32 to continue the story. It's not that good.

Also for the gacha system part where you summon for characters and loot, it took a streamer around $2,000 dollars to get a specific character he wanted. And if you want a character from a banner you basically need to spend a couple hundred bucks to get the character if you don't get very lucky with the summons you can muster up from your long grinding.

All in all the game graphic, characters and story is good but all the problems will overshadow the good aspects of the game later on into the game when you get higher level. If your the type of person that loves to grind a LOT and doesn't care about getting new characters or like spending money on games then this game is perfect for you, but if you care about getting some of the characters and don't like grinding so much and don't like spending money then this game isn't for you in the long run.

This game starts out wonderfully, buy does not allude to its extremely horrible monetary restrictions until you're about 30 hours into the game. The graphics and story are interesting but ultimately end up extremely disappointing at the end.
    1. The story ends abruptly, and there are a TOTAL of about 40 quests in game. The quests are a large part of the in game currency and character experience, when you finish them, that stops completely. You get maybe 13 character experience per monster kill, which is about 1/1000 of the experience you got before.
    2. After you finish the story, there is very little to do. 4 daily quests, and you can do 3 to 6 "stamina" related activities.
    3. The stamina system is by far the worst and most punishing aspect of this game. It takes 18 hours to refill, and at the current "end game" you can't even level your characters or equipment once with 1 day. You'll more than likely need 3-4 days of stamina related activities to advance one aspect of your setup.
    5. This stamina system basically forces you to stop playing after 20 minutes, because you can't receive anything for doing any activity.
    6. The game's co-op in this game is pointless and it punishes you for even attempting it. All bosses are easily solo'd, and if you go to a friends world, you do not receive rewards for opening chests, doing timed challenges, or helping them in any way outside of stamina activities. This is done to ensure that people do not progress quickly because you run out of experience gaining activities very quickly.

This all leads to no progression, which is the point of this type of game. There is literally nothing to do after you finish the 40 quests the game has given you. You could build a 2nd team of characters, but with no quests to provide you with currency and experience items for your character and gear, it turns into a grind that is extremely unappealing. Taking weeks to meet any one goal.

I do not recommend this game in its current state, and if you do play, do NOT invest money in it.

Another bad point is the limited respawn of monsters and bosses, you need an increasing number of itens to upgrade your characters and weapons, the resource is limited to a daily respawn of monsters and to gated chests from bosses where you have to spend resin a type of resource that you slowly generate through the day, you can buy Resin with your limited gacha currency or real money.
So after you open all the chests in the world and do the main story of the game you will be in a spot where you have 4 daily quests, some random events that can appear or not, some chests that may or may not respawn (like 10 or so in the vast world), monsters that you kill and they take 24h/daily reset to respawn, or bosses/dungeons where you need to either spend Resin to get their loot or real money.
In a F2P perspective the game is not that bad as long you want to play as a specific character from gacha, those will cost you almost all the resources you can earn in your first week of playing if not more.
0.6% for a 5 stars where a 10 rolls on gacha cost around $19 USD has a guaranteed chance for a 4 star, but that 4 star can be a weapon and not a character.
Dozens of streamers have spend more than 1.000, sometimes close to 3.000 to get a single copy of the character they wanted.
In general the game is amazing, has an open world just like the way a good open world game should have, the combat is fun and well done, some quests are really well done and you can expect the game to become even better in future with more characters, new places to visit and dungeons, but like i said before its very limited for F2P.

Leveling up your characters and gear is great feeling too. Music, well absolutely fantastic, with the aesthetics of the game it makes for an awesome combination. Just walking around enjoying the visuals and listening to the music doing nothing is great lol. Story is not Witcher 3 level of course but it is quite nice. NPCs also have always some story to tell and sometimes will give you an item. There are also tons of stuff to read through books or even background stories about your weapons! If that is not proof of serious investment from the dev into making the best game possible, I don’t know what is. Oh wait, the game is FREE ??? That is just CRAZY… (Note: gacha mechanics are only there if you want to use them, I could even go as far as to say that they are almost hidden from you – While you really don’t need to pay for anything to progress and enjoy the game, I paid 5 bucks for crystals just as a contribution, for the awesome job done by the dev.)

It has very few actual content, and your majority time will be spent on waiting daily mission and opening chests. This is a gacha gambling game, you cannot get all characters/weapons without A LOT of money. Another problem is that it got published on all platforms, If other companies start making game like this, it will be the end of 3A game industry.

Decent, but uninspired all around. Gameplay and graphics are held back by being cross platform. fun but lacking in depth, difficulty or design to keep it that way for long.

-The world is beautiful at first glance, but after a few days of playing, nearly every location (so far) has more or less the same atmosphere. It gets old no matter how much i like it.
-Character designs are quite nice, amber is a favorite, and they are animated fairly well
-Characters have a little more customization than some similar titles, though even with the entire gatcha roster their are fairly few at launch
-Enemy variety is a bit lacking, their are a few variations of each enemy, but that aside their are only a few enemy types, and fewer still that are significantly different in combat
-Combat on the whole has some interesting features like elemental reactions, but some enemies can feel like damage sponges even when you out level them. The AI is fairly basic and and easily exploited if you are willing.
-Map is compact but fairly large and filled with lots of stuff to do. It's very fun and reasonably fast to navigate which almost makes the plentiful teleportation points a pity.
-The characters themselves are passible, their are no grand backstories or anything, and only a couple are really memorable for me. That said every NPC is unique and has at least some dialog.
-The story is nothing special, at least for now, not any huge glaring faults but, not very inspired.
-Climbing is quite fun, though it could be faster. I only dungeons used the mechanic in a unique way, rather than practically disabling it.
-Dungeons are fairly dull affairs, with no puzzles and only very occasional platforming to break up combat slogs.
-loot and rewards are plentiful, but even higher tier chests can be duds and actually exciting finds are quite uncommon after a short time.
-Graphicly it's nicely stylized and smooth aside from a couple of bugs, but ultimately feels like it is being held back by the cross platform nature.
    -Too many menus and currencies
-linear stat increases punctuated with infrequent skill unlocks makes leveling up more boring and less exciting that it should be, though exp items are given with such frequency that combat EXP is practically ignorable, and I often level up 5+ times at once on multiple characters at a time.

You get plenty of free pulls monthly for just playing (though trying to get a 5 star character can be frustrating), Rarity of either weapons or characters do not play a major role in gameplay and even your starting team remains viable with three star weapons in the current game version.

A lot of wasted potential. It has the look of a grand RPG adventure, but behind the curtain it's still your standard mobile gacha game. These two types of games contradict each other:

    - "Pay to win" is a misleading term. You can't really "win" in a gacha game. "Gacha" is about collecting rare heroes and exclusive items. But without spending literally thousands of dollars, your collection won't contain many desirable collectibles. The whole game is about trying to sell you lottery tickets for seemingly exclusive virtual items. As in all gacha games, gameplay and immersion are shallow and soulless when you've seen through the inital eye candy.

    - Combat has potential but doesn't evolve. After 2 hours you will perform the same fancy looking moves over and over again. Gameplay feels the same at lvl 1 as at lvl 60. Likewise, you will fight the same enemies at lvl 1 as at lvl 60, just with higher stats.

    - It tries to mimic an "epic adventure", but there's nothing to discover. All the good stuff is in loot boxes and will never be found elsewhere. There's literally thousands of treasure chests, all containing the same common items, with zero chance to get anything worthwile.

    - After the inital hours with lots of eye candy, progress grinds to a halt (at rank 23-25), content is gated behind huge amounts of grind and/or paying money to make the grind more bearable.

    - The "endgame" revolves around farming small amounts of premium currency and materials. Materials will unlock the full potential of your heroes. Premium currency lets you buy another lottery ticket. Sooner rather than later, gameplay becomes a tedious job you go through just to get another lottery ticket or to make your heroes slightly stronger.

    - There 's no real challenge, you will steamroll 98% of the content. The only challenge comes in form of time trials, in which you won't be able to defeat some monsters within the time limit, since your team's damage output isn't high enough. How to overcome the problem? You guessed it: grind for months on end and/or pay for lootboxes.

    - Immersion is constantly broken. Before you meet characters in the story, you might get them in loot boxes. So you might run around with the "Anemo God" Venti, a very rare character, while you try to locate him in a quest. It's a bit like "Back to the Future", but twisted.

Genshin Impact, like all other gacha games, is about "pay for a chance to get a super rare hero", "pay to progress", "pay to not waste your time". It isn't even "pay to have fun", since gameplay is shallow and whatever you might pay, it will never be enough, there will always be some bottleneck or some new exclusive hero that outperforms whatever heroes you might have collected until then.

    2. The game has numerous timegated mechanics such as resin, processing, etc.
    3. The game also has a battlepass system, with some missions literally impossible to finish without using the gacha currency.
    4. The exploration isn't nearly as interesting after an hour or so of exploring. The "puzzles" are repetitive, the scenery is repetitive (god I hope you love the color green), and the chest rewards are all at best mediocre.
    5. You cannot rebind controls.
    6. You can't skip cutscenes, and are forced to click through dialogue. Even if you like the story you would have to do this for mundane sidequests as well.
    7. Going from A to B without waypoints is excruciatingly slow, as is climbing.
    8. You're letting a Chinese company put a kernal level anticheat on your computer.

Stunning character and open-world designs, immersive BGM, and top-notch graphics, this game represents a great leap forward for the Chinese game industry. Compared to Tencent and Netease or other mobile game developers, I would say Mihoyo makes better games, period. To be honest, I enjoy this game more than BOTW.

HOWEVER, those who gave 10 out of 10 are just hilarious and biased, and I guarantee most of them are scams, or those players aren't reaching lv30 by now. Daily quests are extremely repetitive, and the whole open world is lack of re-exploration contents. This game IS a p2w game (a Chinese mobile game developer, what else do you expect?), and it has not one, not two, not three, not four, but five monetization systems, four of which are extremely profitable (battle pass, monthly subscription, skins (upcoming patch), and the gacha system (0.6% for 5-star characters OR weapon in one pool? Are you serious?). Several characters are vital for your experience (i.e., Wendy, Diruc, and Keqing), and their lower-tier substitutions are nowhere as good as they are. The main character (5-star) is underpowered, and several 4-star/5-star characters are also useless or underpowered except some specific mechanics in the game (yeah I am talking to you, Amber and Jean). Also, poor optimization for phones (so I don't know why people are rating 10/10 if they are playing on a phone). Poor rewards for explorations, quests, or even battle pass.

I don't think this game deserves a score of 0/1 or 9/10 to be honest. Let's see if the operation designer can handle the game better (they screwed up the mid-autumn fest and Chinese national day, there isn't any event and Chinese players are pissed off).

I can’t understand why you guys like this work and think that this game is just borrowing from BTOW. I think it’s a blasphemy against BTOW, so I will only give it two points for its battle. For a company that has only ever made mobile games, the game is a marvel.good job.

Rather than a typical online game, Genshin Impact resembles a traditional single-player jRPG with a real-time combat. For a free-to-play title it is very impressive, but turns out to be pretty derivative and quickly slumps into monotony. [13/2020, p.52]

Oh, the joy of exploring this beautiful world. Oh, the clever combat, the great voice acting, the compelling story. This is one of the best RPGs of the year. And it’s almost beyond comprehension that you can get it for free.

Overall, in spite of things that should bring Genshin Impact down, the game is so much fun to play that the negatives are ultimately minor gripes. [...] The gameplay is smooth and simplistic, and it works great on all platforms - though I’m still not sure why the PlayStation version can’t be linked to a Mihoyo account so I could play on my phone when I’m not at home (PS Vita version please??) but it’s a small gripe to an otherwise terrific game.
