    Okay.. name me ONE other game that can do half the crazy stuff this game can! Name me ONE! Name a game where you can take a Renamon, nail it to a barrel, turn the barrel into an improvised NASA reject, and launch it into the sky, and then make it explode with a gun from Half Life 2. You can't, can't you? Garry's Mod is ultimately 23,000 games in one, and all you need is a couple old SourceOkay.. name me ONE other game that can do half the crazy stuff this game can! Name me ONE!     This is one of the most beautiful abstract pieces of art I've EVER, EVER seen, this game has the most moddability of any game that has ever existed, and you can do literally anything that you've ever wanted to do in a game.
    If you're a mod-creator, this game is your paradise, there is nothing you cannot slap on this game.

    This game is really cool, but, it can be really confusing if you don't have it for very long. I suggest you get it, because its basically a game you can do anything in it. Not to mention, the co-op mode is amazing. There are so many game modes, its hard to decide what to choose! It could freeze and exit itself though, which can be very annoying.     Garry's Mod is a great single-player sandbox game. I can't say the same for online, but in single-player you can do basically whatever you want to. From building insane traps and killing NPCs in hilarious ways, to destroying everything in site, staging battles between cops, monsters, aliens, and those space soldier guys from HL2, it's a lot of fun. Customizable, and abundant in freedom,Garry's Mod is a great single-player sandbox game. I can't say the same for online, but in single-player you can do basically whatever you want to.     A great toybox. That's what I'd call this game. It has a steam workshop loaded with amazing projects. Type in anything you want and something'll come up. It has compatibility with other games allowing you to walk around maps from your favourite games and engage the characters in your sick fantasies.     Garry's Mod of Gmod as it's commonly known is a valve classic that I always come back to. The game has mediocre graphics nothing insane a lot of fun fan made game modes, and many custom add ons. There is a lot of replay ability and I see myself coming back to it a lot to experience what I love about the game. It's so goofy there's mayhem though it has what seems to be controlled mayhem,Garry's Mod of Gmod as it's commonly known is a valve classic that I always come back to.     This game has so much potential and it's a never ending game because people will always make mods for it. People have mad careers out of this game. This uses a lot from Team Fortress 2 and Half Life but I think that's fine because it adds a lot of content already. Garry' Mod is still going on and is being used to make memes. I've spent some time on it, no-where near the amount some people have.

    My Opinion: Once you get over the learning curve (My reason for a 9, not 10) this game is quite possibly the best sandbox games ever made, and this is without mods. It’s only competition is Minecraft, and kinda, Roblox (which bares a lot of similarities in its Studio Mode, but I still think Garry’s Mod wins over).
    If this mode wasn’t so expansive, and allowed for so much replayability in    My Opinion: Once you get over the learning curve (My reason for a 9, not 10) this game is quite possibly the best sandbox games ever made, and this is without mods.     If this mode wasn’t so expansive, and allowed for so much replayability in of its self, this game probably only would’ve been a 6 or 7, due to its toxic community. But if you are lucky and get some 16+ people who understand the concept of humor, or you have friends to play with then this is also probably one of the best multiplayer games, but unfortunately, you usually get some 2 year old arguing about FNAF, which isn’t fun. Pros:
    1.) One of the best sandbox modes in a video game ever
    2.) An absolutely amazing modded experience, elevating the game to even higher heights, especially for novice players.
    3.) Amazing potential for multiplayer fun.
    Cons:
    1.) Highly toxic community
    2.) High barrier to entry
    3.) Large amounts of 10-12 populating servers, ruining the fun for everyone else

    Addressing Common Complaints
    I know a lot of negative reviews are from years ago, but the latest version or 2 of Gmod have really improved and made the UI far better, in my opinion. Also people are asking for story in a half sandbox, half multiplayer game, the 2 genres that can get away without the slightest sniff of a story. So shut up. 9/10.    … Expand

    There is so much about this game that is awesome. You can create stuff, like houses bases, vehicles, turrets and things that don't exist yet. There is multiplayer in the game so you can create with your friends or strangers. If you are not good at building things, you can animate ragdolls and make movies.
    Such a good game for only 10$

    I bought this game after following lost in places antics. Hilariously fun, great to mess with people who are playing the game seriously. Im playing on a mac and it works perfectly. Must hsve.

And in the excellent Dark RP, a multiplater role-playing mod built for the game, you start of as a citizen, but if you wish you can choose a different job, such as a police officer and take on crime head-on, or a mob boss with a gang the size of everyone in the server called 'The Tunnel Snakes' who own the cops through successful blackmail and bribery, or a sadistic gun dealer who's only pleasure is to kill everyone he sees, or a hobo and beg for money, or a hitman charging $100 per kill. Or just be a citizen and build. The game is fantastic, with the only flaws being the aged (but highly forgiveable) graphics and the occasional glitches and LUA cache errors. But I don't usually judge games based on minor technical problems. I judge them on the experience I've had with the game. And mine was fantastic.… Expand

    I great game, I've clocked up 360 hours on my steam talk about great value for money. The only problem I see with this is the fact that you need to have source pre-requisites to play this game.

    Steep learning curve but ohh so much fun what game are supposed to be fun so it gets a 10 because i can do what ever i please i an stream videos in game i can build weapons an cars an levels spawn monsters pvp possibilities are limitless have fun!!

    This is an awesome game.You can make houses,kill NPC's, download awesome addons and many other things buy it. It's only 9,99.I personally recommend this highly its so cool u can do almost everything in it.Im gonna give it a 9 because of some LUA problems sometimes.

    This is a pretty good game. Although I must say, downloading addons can be really annoying at times. The game itself is a great sandbox, being able to manipulate rag dolls and build structures using the Half Life 2 source engine can be a real blast. I have owned the game on three different computers, and played 100+ hours, and there are some things that really annoy me. For one thing, the game allows you to spawn NPC's with weapons, however most of the weapons that the game starts you off with (not addons), don't work. I think that the developers could have done better on this, and while I don't blame them for this, I think that they could have patched it. This game is a very good deal, considering if you own a game that uses the source engine the game is $10 on steam. I would/do recommend it to most of my friends, and I think that the creators did a great job making a fun, creative game.… Expand

    this was a fun game i enjoyed the many hours i put into it. its creative fun and a great way to explore you creative ideas. the ncps are fun to use. the wide arrangement of tools and props just adds the many things you can do overall this is a great game i fully recomend this

    From another user's review "The game is absolutely hilarious, if you know how to use it". Yes, that's the point. How do you use it? The game's instructions are non-existant and you have to do deep researches on the internet every time you want to do something different than spawn some NPCs.
    Garry's Mod is the perfect Sandbox game. If you're not into them, you won't be into it.

    I LOVE Garry's mod I have played over 350hours of it. The reason I gave it a 9 is becuase it's not perfect. The reason it's so so hard to make servers. It's like Minecraft they have insanely hard server set ups. But apart from that I really would not change the gameplay.

    I recommend this game! BUY IT NOW!

    I've been playing this game for several years now. It's dirt cheap and there's no reason you shouldn't buy this. There's SO MUCH to do, you can do ANYTHING YOU WANT. How does that not sound appealing?

GMOD, however, is not stand-alone, and requires a source engine game to power the experience, which shouldn't really be difficult to achieve, especially with TF2 being F2P. The game is also not only a sole experience, but an amazing multi-player world where anything can happen, which isn't always a good thing!

    The multi-player world is a interesting one, and some addons would be needed to avoid people messing up what you make. Maps, game-modes and infinitely more pieces of content can be added at your leisure, but performance will take a hit in most cases. As a flexible, sandbox, you would probably expect to be able to do almost anything, and GMOD pretty much does just that.

    For a measly few pounds or dollars, you can unlock a unique world that has almost no bounds to your creativity, which is what a sandbox is all about. Highly Recommended.    … Expand

    Insanely good game, you can play hundreds of different game-modes if you don't like just building and with the vast amount of community created content, you'll never be bored. I get a couple of new players on my server a day and everyone of them seems to be happy with their purchase, I mean it's £5/$10 how can you go wrong?

    There so much to do in Garrys mod, you can make houses, cars, planes just name it...
    There 1000´s of game modes for it, like
    Trouble in Teorist Town
    Ba Jail
    RolePlay
    Wars
    and much much more, so there might be a gamemode for every person.

    Fun for creating wars, or using rag dolls for make tf2 videos. Although, spawning too many npcs or objects causes lag. I have had a few source engine bugs and crashes, but that is its only downside.

    Garry's Mod is a game like no other. Install, Play, and build huge prop castles or amazing machines. The game has a main menu where you can spawn hundreds of props in which you can weld, freeze, morph, transform, or use to build a marvelous fortress.     Great sandbox game, never got old. Have tons of hours on this game and each time I load it up, I can do something completely different than last time. One of the best sandbox games I've ever played and I will continue playing it for a long time.

    this game is the best.you can do like anything and also create anything.I could play this game all day.but there something that is keeping me out like 0 metascore so i havent evan played in along time the is probaly the only reason i dislike this game

    Garry's mod is a very unique game because it has no proper story line or any meaning to it. its just for having fun with random props from most of the source engine games and killing the NPC characters from the beloved half life series. for only 10 dollars, it really is a game totally worth it.

    I have never been a fan of sandbox games, but my god this is fantastic. There is so much to do in this game, including one hell of a multiplayer, that just make this game so good. Valve never fail to disappoint, and Garry's Mod shows just how good Valve is. May not be up there with Half-Life and the like, but still an easy 10.

It has a variety of gamemodes, of the wich you can never grow bored; endless spawnlists; the addon feature, that has really improved gameplay; and the inumerous ideas you can put to practice, with the feedback of other players.

    A game that had me hooked for hours. This game mixes in sandbox, and hundreds of other game modes. This is my most played game on PC. I also had to convince my brothers and friends to get it. I just wish Valve would reboot this game and add more items and better graphics.

    Greatest pc game/mod hands down. I have pulled over 700 hours of it since Christmas last year and am still playing! Sadly the relatively new "Garry's Mod 13" update was released last year, it up the hit boxes completely. But besides that, you are absolutely insane if you have not purchased this game yet.

    This game is incredibly fun. There are so many different gamemodes and so much stuff that you can build that you will probably never get bored. Combine what I just said with the fact that this game is workshop compatible and you have a game which has so many addons that you will never not be able to find something you like. This game is amazing and you will never get bored.

    Gmod is just crap. None of the gamemodes are fun, TTT is a mess and the terrorists are way too underpowered, prop hunt is way too hard (lose health when you shoot) and murder is just lame. The game allows heavy scripting making a lot of fun custom game modes possible but is mainly a sandbox game. Overall Garry's Mod is a game where you can be creative and have fun but not a game for serious gaming.

The only thing bad about it is that when a Valve game is updated, it usually busts up the game so you have to wait for a patch.     Played this game a lot... Five years later I'm studying software engineering at university. Coincidence? No. If you have any interest in programming buy this game and start playing with the expression scripting language, you can do so many cool things.

    PS: Find a server with interesting people and interesting mods, a good community can keep you coming back for years.

    This is the only game I know of where you can fend your Combine officer from antlion guards and trigger_hurts while riding a Heavy Weapons Guy into a wall of Marios. 10/10 10/10s.

    Toybox is one of my favorite things..... too bad they are removing it :(
    Im not upgrading gmod if that toybox aint there
    thats the only reason im putting 9, otherwise I would put a 10 because
    its very fun and it mad some youtubers very good

    This is an extremely fun sandbox with no limits as to what you can do with it. It's various mods go anywhere from giant theatre for sharing your favorite YouTube videos, Competitions for building the best boat, Fortwars, Space environment building and roleplaying, And many more awesome mods.
    This game is a definite 10 for it's outstanding community and retention of players.

    A must-buy for any big fan of Valve titles. Want to play with the models of Half-Life in an infinite sandbox? Create a complex mechanism? Blow up endless terrorists? Take a bath? There is nothing you cannot do in this game.

    A couple of glitches here and there, but nothing noticeable. The freedom of this game is more than Minecraft as there's always something new. You can run around killing hoards of headcrabs if you want to, or you can build a foldable base. 10/10. Tis amazing, and I hate giving tens, but it deserves it.

Various game modes, memes, and other things have come from Garry's Mod. It's fun to play with in sandbox, TTT, or really anything that you can put your mind to. If I have one problem, more like two, is that one of them is the updates always seem to break things worse somehow. Every. Time. And my other gripe is that this game really doesn't have an identity despite what can be done with it. It seems more like a tool sometimes rather than a game. Like a toy you play with. G-Mod is like Minecraft. It's there, you can play with it, but on its own, is it really much of a game? Not really. Either way, I enjoy the game.… Expand
