Though hard to grasp for the uninitiated, Telltale's Game of Thrones is a truly meaty addition to the established tale, creating a gut-twisting fantasy drama that will leave you feeling absolutely awful, just like Game of Thrones should.

Telltale’s Game of Thrones should be the end of any debate as to whether or not Telltale can apply its adventure game formula to any adaptation you throw at it. I saw things in Telltale’s rendition of the Game of Thrones universe that rivaled the awfulness I’ve seen on the show. I jumped from playing the post-apocalyptic Fallout 4 to playing Game of Thrones and didn’t feel like I was killing any fewer people.

The gameplay in Game of Thrones is a bit more passive than most games and might be difficult to follow for people new to the franchise, but it does offer a strong story that fits right into the Game of Thrones lore. It has the same fantastic way of taking you into this fantasy world filled with surprising and shocking moments.

The season does end on a strong note, with plenty of bloodshed, and a special mystery with what Gared finds in the North past the wall. It's too bad that the some of the season's highest points are little more than a setup for the next season. I admit that there were a few intense situations, like poking a guy's eye out, but they are overshadowed by the fact that my choices generally didn't much matter in a game with the primary focus on decision making--underscored by how the same one eyed-man still talked crap to the cripple that beat him up.

If Telltale can figure out a way to weave together all of the possible branches in the story to create a second season (and beyond), then that will hopefully make all of the doom and gloom from the first season more worthwhile. But if Telltale has painted themselves into a corner, and this season is it, then I wouldn’t recommend the game at all, unless your idea of fun is getting punched in the face repeatedly.

Game of Thrones gets the feel of Martin's universe right, but it relies too heavily on familiar themes to form a memorable identity of its own.

Throughout this cynical gaming experience, the message of the show seems clearer than ever: reject dignity or die.

Telltale has done a masterful job at recreating the show into a cinematic game. Im amazed at what they've accomplished, the way Telltale ofTelltale has done a masterful job at recreating the show into a cinematic game. Im amazed at what they've accomplished, the way Telltale of interlinked the big events that happened in the show and to make them occur in the game with an entirely different story line is an amazing feat. I didnt think i would become as invested in the characters in the game, than in the show. But they are winning me over and i hope by the end of the season they end with some gut wrenching scene like Neds Starks beheading to get me amped for the next season. Expand

Much has been said about the illusion of choice in this series. I have to ask: what exactly do people expect? If the stats at the end ofMuch has been said about the illusion of choice in this series. I have to ask: what exactly do people expect? If the stats at the end of each episode are any indication, there are five major "choices" during the episode. If each choice creates a distinct branch in the story, that means the developers have to create ten different paths for just the first episode. Take five distinct choices in the second episode and you now have 100 branches. By the sixth episode the developers would have to create 100,000 different story branches! Just in the first season! While there could be some overlap, they'd have to track and trace all those paths to make sure there's no inconsistency. An impossible task.

Where this game shines isn't in branching story paths; that would be impossible to pull off on a large-scale basis. Where it excels is in that your choices affect how different characters feel about you, and that when those few major divergences come up, the way the various characters feel about you can have an effect.

This game feels authentically Game of Thrones. It's not predictable. It puts you in impossible situations with no outs. It'll beat you up, then kick you while your down. But through it all you'll have the desire to keep fighting...because you care about the Forresters. And you want revenge on those who wronged them.

Will you be defiant, even if it puts you at risk?
Will you bow and scrape hoping for a few table scraps?
Will you fight for what's right, or be ruthless to succeed?
    Can you outmaneuver your rivals?
Can you see the twists coming and prevent a horrible outcome?

    Good luck.

It is worth noting that this game is the most horrible in terms of graphics, so to do casually and it is not even in the soap as often happens. Sometimes it seems that they are playing on the phone or on the PS1, though sometimes you can see a more or less normal and make a couple of screenshots. As for the characters, storytelling, choice and development, as in other games of this company, except that she's quite outspoken in terms of fighting, there are a couple of savory moments. The first two episode was not particularly interesting place, but with the third interested and even interesting to follow the story. There are a couple of favorites, but this close and not the characters in the first season of "the walking", but not as zero and faceless in the games of Teyla. The ending made not much admire, frustrating the common cause some emotions that only a plus.
