Overall the game is beyond simplistic, but perhaps that's for the best. Overcomplicating things might have made it less fun in the grand scheme of things, and while I can't say for certain if I'll be playing this game a year from now, I do know I can affectionately call it my frightening summer fling for multiplayer. Illfonics has set the stage, it's time for them to keep improving upon this great idea, and for other companies to take the hint and follow in their footsteps. This is asymmetric multiplayer at its most addicting, and horror in one of its purest forms.

In spite of the occasional glitch or physics hiccup, nothing in Friday the 13th: The Game is enough of a knock against the package to keep me from preventing it. This is some of the most fun multiplayer I’ve touched in quite a while, and definitely the most fun I’ve ever had with an asymmetric multiplayer title.

A truly unique experience, unlike any other multiplayer game you’ve played (certainly a cut above other asymmetrical titles), where cooperation, wits and sometimes ruthless murder are what it takes to survive. Be wary of this game if only for its propensity to hook you. Jason has sunk his pickaxe into me, and he's not letting go, ensuring I will be playing Friday the 13th: The Game extensively for the considerable future.

At $40/£30 it definitely isn't a steal, but for chatty entertainers who enjoy multiplayer storytelling over technical perfection, Friday the 13th can be thrilling, stupid, and hilarious.

The fact that I've had a good time with it even on half-melted servers demonstrates the strength of its emergent horror. Like the towering killer himself, Friday the 13th has come out of nowhere, and while it isn't invulnerable, it's more than capable of stealing your heart.

There's something deeply unsettling about how enjoyable this game is. It's a reminder of why, despite their timeless resonance and narrative potential, it can be hard to admit how much we love a good horror movie. However, Friday the 13th: The Game doesn't give you many chances to stop and dwell on the grotesqueries. Most of the time, you're simply having too much fun to care. The thrill of the chase, the primordial impulses of cat and mouse, the satisfaction as you land that last fatal blow – it's a genuine delight to experience in a group setting, with everyone wearing a headset and communicating, or taunting Jason, as you work together to round up a can of gasoline, car keys, and a spare battery to just get the hell out of there.
  3. What I really need is a group to play with and I’ll be recruiting across the upcoming long weekend.

Now released and advertised as the full game, it's still in a state that could be compared to a beta test. Missing promised additional content and the content that is available is fairly limited. Charging full price for a game that feels unfinished, promising to patch in features.

This kind of behavior gives indy developers a bad name. What the hell did they do with the $800K dollars plus all of the pre-order money? Give me a break.

    (Sorry my English is bad)

Game is very unstable and clunky to play, devs are making excuses constantly on servers, issues, fixes, etc (Since Beta and today at launch) community is okay, overall I would recommend waiting for a price drop and for the server issues to be solved (Have not been able to log in for the last couple of hours)

Another thing that is kinda worrying is that they keep saying "We aren't AAA" but they priced it at digital AAA pricing and raised 2M+ in Kickstarter and SlackerBacker funds and delayed the launch significantly. Then they say "We are just a small team" Illfonic is not a small indie development house from what I can tell, they used high level outside contractors (all covered in their updates and twitter feeds) like Art Bully and Gunmedia is a moderately experienced team as well. The level of weird on this is hard to ignore when seeing the quality of the game.

I would wait for a price drop or at least until servers are working and single player is out. Streamers are having fun but have a headstart on the community in terms of perks and levels (There has been no reset before launch).

So avoid until they either prove singleplayer is fun or wait for a sale if you only want online play.

Hope they fix it in the coming days and that the community isn't dead on arrival.
