This game uses the mechanic "make the volume louder to hear breathing so jumpscares work".

This game is bad. all the nights are the same except they get slightly harder each time. i dont like the fact that you have to rely on sound to win, this just makes the game about listening to footsteps and breathing and if you arent able to hear the right thing you die. the only thing that is interesting about this game is the lore.

I love the Five Nights at Freddy's series, but honestly, FNaF 4 really is where the series started to go downhill for me, and slowly went in a direction I found to be unenjoyable. While the previous games had focused on balanced mechanics and a genuinely creepy setting, FNaF 4 went for the absurd and convoluted method of trying to frighten the audience. I completed this game in less than half the time that any of the previous entries had taken me. Expand

    Pathetic:
To start with the positives, i did like the mini games after each night, it felt i was actually being told a story rather than just some cryptic scene of implied child death and the ending to the mini games i thought was quite refreshing for the series because we had never actually seen one of these robots kill somebody, it's always just been told to us but i'm not going to give

That is about it for the positives, as for everything else it's pretty mediocre or downright bad, the gameplay i feel is the worst in the series, this franchise has a history of having some pretty unfair challenges but this game takes it too far. listening for breathing is incredibly difficult thanks to the gargelled audio and while i did like the mini games this is the game that started the trend of Scott just adding a bunch of none-sense to his story for no other reason then to make it more confusing, the sound design this time around feels like it did back in fnaf 2, just random **** This game relies on the most basic tricks to scare the player. just silence, darkness and the anticipation of a jump-scare, this game is lazy (a common theme i notice throughout the series) and that is not even to mention the outright pathetic designs of the monsters in this game, not scary and very clearly rushed. The setting of this game is a child's bedroom which completely strips the game of all the personality and originality that it had in the previous entries.

I think this game generic, it tries to be the conclusion of the mystery behind the murder of children, but instead of answering questions, he asks even more questions.

I played this game, and it's the worst in the series. The FNaF series has mostly gone downhill ever since the second game came out. The story isn't that great (you're a little kid running around your house while getting piked on by your brother), the gameplay is meh and the game is WAY TOO HARD!!!!!! Buy it if you're a really hardcore FNaF fan, but if you dislike the first three games,I played this game, and it's the worst in the series. Shovelware deserves no review. But they're totally trying to make me **** on it by having to type more than 75 characters.
    It's just garbage.

Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is easier to know what is going on, but its frightening tale and game play isn't anywhere near enough to save it from complete disappointment.

while the jumpsacres are undeniably startling ,this cannot save Five Nights at Freddys 4 from its poorly executed gameplay, with a sound mechanic vital to the game completely broken because of garbelled audio, and story which is more convoluted than the matrix

This game is very overrated. What makes it unique and original FNAF were the cameras, and in this game there is no trace of them. Half of the game are stupid and very low quality minigames. I can give some points for the scares, but after a while become boring and predictable. Scott had done something great, but get carried away by fame and created a waste of epic proportions.

This game is a disapointment, cheap jumpscare's, and game play mechanic's that just rip-off the 1st game, the franchise itself isn't even good, i hate this game, literally!!

I'm not a fan of Fnaf. This game changed a lot than other FNAF games, now you can move door to door. I think that the way to avoid the animatronics is very original and smart, you have to hear low breathing, and it makes that you increase the volume and it scares more. but sincerely, it's that boring, same that others game.

    So, it's a 3 for me.

FNAF has basically exploded on the Internet thanks to music videos, Montages and Not Scary videos, but does the series leave up to all the hype? Nope. It still tries the same cheap tricks to try and get a dumb scream out of you with it's dumb jumpscares even in the 4th installment. Scott, just leave this series to rot and die.

If you've played any of the other three games in the franchise, you'll know what to expect from the fourth entry in the game, more of the same. FNAF's 4 has less gameplay and mechanics then it's predecessors and will leave you with more questions then answers.

If you've played any of the other three games in the franchise, you'll know what to expect from the fourth entry in the game, more of the same. FNAF's 4 has less gameplay and mechanics then it's predecessors and will leave you with more questions then answers.

More importantly, the entire franchise makes an attempt to have some sort of weird, deep, twisting mystery behind it. It's a horror story to be sure and as you play the games, bits and pieces of the story get revealed through a number of ways. The rest of this is left up to the game community to speculate on what is actually happening.

Many of us jumped on board with the game because we were intrested in the story, less of the actual game and we hoping that by the end of Five Nights at Freddy's 4, most of the story would be revealed. This couldn't beany further from the truth. The "final" game (and I use that term loosely) barely answers anything, while bringing up even more questions. Scott in all of his glory decided that since the community couldn't unravel the story, that he wasn't going to shed anymore light on it.

That's right, the developer of the franchise, the one that used to be a failure in game development, that used to work at a dollar store, who was lifted from the dirt and pushed into the spotlight by his fan base now refuses to actually elaborate anymore on the story. Talk about a giant middle finger to the people who have financially supported Scott.

Scott has already admitted the first game was supposed to be the only one, but it was so successful, he decided to continue pushing out more games. Given the fact he had no future plans for the franchise and he had to come up with a story, on the spot, I have a feeling Scott threw in a bunch of junk and then allowed the community to come up with theories for his game, essentially doing the writing for him.

It's my opinion that Scott had NO IDEA how to wrap up the games, he had NO IDEA what he was doing and because of that, he bascially refused to explain anything, blaming it on the fans for not being able to "find" all of his clues.

More of an insult, his latest game is simply a different game, using all of the old characters from the first four games. Scott doesn't even respect his fans enough to make an attempt to actually make anything new or unique. Scott is going to continue to milk the furry cash cow until it's all dried up and dead.

Limited gameplay, shallow game mechanics, poor writing, it's almost embarrassing how little effort Scott put into this game, he should be ashamed at how much he has not only milked this franchise, but his "fans". I'll never spend another single penny in support of Scott and none of you should either.

This game is hands down the worst video game sequel ever made in video game history. This game isn't scary at all, the gameplay is the same and is this time boring, the story makes no since, and to top it all off this game tries to be realistic even though THIS IS A HORROR VIDEO GAME WITH LIVE ANIMATRONICS!!!!!

This is game series is so over-rated. Scott Cawthon, please stop making these games. They are all the same piece of garbage, pl.us you make them so frequently. These games are not even scary. Do not buy this game, instead buy Cory in the House. Cory In the House is the best anime of all time.

First game was bad, but this is even worse, much worse. This game just deserves to be called "Worst horror game ever". There is nothing interesting in this game. This game is just disgrace to horror genre. It's sad. Don't waste your time.

I know i'm not an expert on fnaf, But this is my opinion, I think this game is horrible because it has a fandom and you guessed it rabid fans, Also it get's really repetitive after a while, Which is why it has less points than the original.

Dubbing this game the "scariest game ever made" is a joke. This was so poorly executed, and offered nothing to the table. The lore, although good, wasn't that special. BioShock had a better story, and games such as Amnesia and Outlast deliver more scares than this. Trust me, it's not worth it.

This has to be joke right now - the developer is milking this thing to bones. Pure cashgrab, zero effort put into making this even slightly appealing to audience older than 10.

This game is a money printer.
    This is bad.
Scott made a great game back in 2014, But he took it so far it became SOOOO BAD!
I don't like this game at all, SAME GAMPLAY, with less fun and horror!
So why scott keep making those up? CUZ he a total Jerk who cares only about money.

    Final verdict:
FNAF Fan: You get a fine story, you WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.
Not a FNAF fan: Bad game! Do not play!

The intro to the night looks bad compare to FNAF 3, the jumpscares might be better but the dependant of sound makes it really hard for people without headphones and a quiet place.

The game is so innovative, I can click in so many more places, and have a .gif pop up on the screen and go, "BOO" at me! Seriously though, this game is about as good as "The House", which is a god awful horror flash game. SERIOUSLY WHY IS THIS STILL NOT ON A FLASH GAME WEBSITE?

FNaF4 differs from the previous games and that’s good. I had a bit more fun with it but it’s still based on jump scares and that’s the least refined technique of scaring. [10/2015, p.73]

FNAF takes a step back, and relies on sound to scare you. It still works, but now your biggest fear would be going deaf because of its loud scare jumps.
