    maybe game is not bad, but i cannot log, since i have a job so cannot start playing at 5 am. :( after work i can only see queues of 7000+ people and this 2002 error... and it is already one week passed and SE said they cannot do anything to the servers. In this case i give up. I cannot say the game you have to wait 5 hours just to login is good.

    Absolute failure of a launch being excused by rabid fanboys who have nothing else to do but to argue and defend a six-billion-dollar corporation because they can't get in the game.
    Queues even a week later are long, errors remain. Even the worst WoW launch was sorted out 2-3 days later.
    Rating this 0 as I cannot get into a game that I pay MONTHLY FEE for.

    Awful queue issues on release, and are still issues as I type.
    2002 Error making it nearly impossible to login due to the game without any warning kicking you out from the queue, the queue is meant to keep your place, but it doesn't even if you try to log straight back in.

    Square Enix blaming it due to lack of server hardware available for purchase due to chip supply issues, however this has little to do with the login servers, I do not mind waiting for hours in a queue to login but I do mind if the queue randomly removes me and makes me wait again. On the first weekend of release I tried to login for 8 hours without being able to get in.

    If you play early AM you can login and experience the game, unfortunately that is not possible for everyone. A bit disappointed with my main class being changed (summoner) and it doesn't flow very well and end up with 10s+ periods of using a filler spell while waiting for cooldowns.. lost the vast majority of my skills and had much less to replace it with.

    I will update this review as Endwalker progresses and look forward to Square Enix improving the servers or at least the queueing system.    … Expand

    The Story was a very fitting end to this long journey - i can understand people being frustrated about the Login Queues, but once you are through them, it is definitely what you were expecting... Or probably way better!

    I got to know the MMORPG genre through Final Fantasy XIV, which impressed me for its game history and delicacy with its admirers.

    It can be said that the Endwalker really completes a finale of years of emotions; sadness, happiness, armor and even hate. Many may say that this expansion has many cliches, but human life has cliches; the feelings themselves are special because of this.    I got to know the MMORPG genre through Final Fantasy XIV, which impressed me for its game history and delicacy with its admirers.

    It can be said that the Endwalker really completes a finale of years of emotions; sadness, happiness, armor and even hate.

    Many may say that this expansion has many cliches, but human life has cliches; the feelings themselves are special because of this.

    In my humble personal opinion, Endwalker manages to lead you to countless different feelings, which in the end, they complement each other.

    In short, Endwalker managed to complete an ending to the first major arc of Final Fantasy XIV, but not its last! What mysteries await us in the depths of the stars, in the depths of knowledge!    … Expand

    It's a sad joke, European players can only create a new character late at night or very early in the morning after that queue is huge and every time after a while in the game an unexpected error pops up and you go back to the queue.     A perfect ending. Gameplay, music, story are all top notch. This will be a tough one for any game to beat, let alone another MMO.

    Is it perfect? - No, is it awesome - YES! For me, Endwalker surpases Shadowbringers.
    Yes, there are currently issues with login queues, but once in game, it runs flawlessly. Apart from that I can't complain, it is everything I was hoping from next FFXIV:
    - great storytelling
    - awesome Music
    - beautiful Zones
    And whats more perfect ending for 8 years long saga.

    Its crazy how they tied up loose ends, also when they use "risky move" i was skeptical since it often make game/movie worse, but damn endwalker executed it nicely.     A massively long story driven semi-single player experience (you can do all dungeons with your fellow "Trust" NPC's) with very fun endgame that challenges even the biggest no-lifers with its "Ultimate" content.

    Yoshi-P is a God.

    Despite the worries if Endwalker can be as good as Shadowbringers, YoshiP team managed to accomplish the impossible and make even better expansion. It's absolutely the best game i have ever played and beautiful lesson of humanism that will always give me motivation to push forward in the moments of doubt in life. As many people say this game changed my life for better. Absolute masterpieceDespite the worries if Endwalker can be as good as Shadowbringers, YoshiP team managed to accomplish the impossible and make even better expansion.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. the story start slow, like a slow burn but later it gradually moving up nicely. i love the message and theme of the game where 'imperfection is where the beauty lies'. telling us that chasing perfection wont guaranteed happiness. all the pain, sorrow, despair is exist along side happiness and by acknowledging it human can move foward. great character development and interaction overall. only my complaint is the Zodiark which is teased since beginning merely end up as plot device while Zenos who i expected would get 'fix' its bland character writer prior to Stormblood end up just same character overall with tiny character development which is i dont think matter much. too bad or the final fight would be much better, could even rival the iconic Cloud vs Sephiroth moment in VII.

    Music is amazing. Soken deliver it again. overall it topped Shadowbringers. amazing work. im glad to be part of the community. experiencing the the game is big 'priveledges'to me since for lot of people, MMO label is biggest barrier for them to try the game. im glad to know and support the developers. it all well pay off in great experience and emotion roller coaster in the game. thank you!    … Expand

    Although a very different story compared to the previous expansion, Endwalker manages to successfully tie up the storylines, dating all the way back to 2.0. There definitely is some filler quests- more than in Shadowbringers, but even so they still manage to be relevant for the story, so I can see why they put them in, even though they're not a lot of fun to do.

Progression of the story feels so much smoother aside from some " follow someone " quest. Music wise is SUPERB as expected and the dungeon design is so much colorful and detail compare to previous expansion.A great finale to the Hydaelyn and Zodiark gran saga.     Overall, it's really fulfilling and, at least, on the same "epicness" level that shadowbringers brought us. After finishing it, I got some post-series depression like in my favoritve tv show, so I think it worked out well.

    Aside from the server issues, which should not be included in ur review btw. This expansion is absolutely the best story I have experienced in any video game. The new additions to jobs, systems, new ost, raids and trials are absolutely amazing without a doubt. This sets the new benchmark for an mmo expansion.

    A good end to a long and epic story. Sadly it has serious pacing issues, plot holes, ass pulled solutions, and underdeveloped plot points that end before they properly start. If they had more time, or maybe spent time on polishing these flaws instead of adding so much filler and stupid stealth/tailing mechanics it could have easily been a 9.     I've played since the original beta and it is the Best game I've ever played in my life and it just keeps getting better. The team behind this game are passionate and show no signs of slowing down. It truly is a labour of love.

    This expansion has a lot of story and also has a lot of side stuff to do, overall FFXIV has a lot of rich lore and content, and if you've been with it a month or 10 years, you'll find this story wonderful and engaging, Endwalker is no exception being the culmination of 10 years of story, i cried, i wish i could wipe my mind and replay it, NewGame+ when?

    The Endwalker story is top notch. An absolute roller coaster of highs and lows. Not only a great finale in itself but moreover makes the previous expansion Shadowbringers even more impactful and purposeful.

    Story Pacing is perfect, the Boss Designs are amazing.
    long awaited QoL Changes have been implemented, problematic class problems adressed (for the most part).

    Area's are looking better with every expansion and honestly, the extreme trials so far are fun as hell.

    Queues are long, yes, but that's normal in any new game or expansion, once you are in game there's 0 issues, no lag, no Raubahn Extremes, everything works smooth.
    Endwalker is excellency, unique experience, something you can't express with words, the emotions, the journey, its something you have to live.

    but of course, this is taking into account your journey since A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers

    the experience combined with Endwalker to finish it off is unparalleled

    Better story than Shadowbringers. Dungeons are also better, boss dungeons have more interesting mechanics, MSQ duties are also a big improvement. Overall it improves on Shadowbringers in almost every way.

    I am an MMO freak, I've played most MMORPGs you can think of. This game has hands down the greatest story ever told in an MMORPG that I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Nothing even comes close.

    This game has always been about the story, and the story of FFXIV: Endwalker is a masterpiece.
    Accompanying the phenomenonal writing is a perfectly paired soundtrack with every musical arrangement fitting nicely in the background of the almost fully voice acted scenes. Of which, the cutscenes now feel movie quality.
    It's hard to recommend this game, considering it will take many, many hours to fully appreciate the journey it has been to get here. But this is the end. And the end was beautiful.    … Expand

    First I was scared about Endwalker. Shadowbringers was such a good expansion, so Endwalker had big shoes to fill. How I was wrong. The story, the characters, the zones, everything was immaculate. Yoshi P, Ishikawa and Soken, thank you for this masterpiece. Forge ahead.

    It’s Shadowbringers level plus one. The amazing thing about this expansion and MMO is it’ll be just as good years from now. Most MMOs are completely different experiences at launch but this masterpiece will last and be just as good to new players as newer content is released.

This is not to say that it is perfect, as I have noticed some tonal inconsistencies duringFinal Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is a Magnificent Finale to a wonderfully crafted narrative that has been built up for over ten years. The story, while starting off rather slow-paced, is more impactful than even Shadowbringers at some points due to the unexpected twists, turns, and themes it tackles. This is not to say that it is perfect, as I have noticed some tonal inconsistencies during certain portions near the start and middle—yet these are gravely overshadowed by the quality of the whole experience. Moving on to the dungeons and trials, without spoiling anything, are probably some of the best in the game thus far due to the music, set pieces, and mechanics. In fact, this might be the only expansion that has me liking all the dungeons (and trials) at launch! There is so much more to discuss, like how good the new jobs are, but I think it would be best if you gave the game a try.

    Endwalker, though of course not perfect, truly did offer an experience any fan of MMOs, JRPGs, and even Video Game Story-telling would most definitely enjoy.    … Expand

    this game is so good, that made me actually create a account on meta crit just so i can post my review.

    1- The story, as a conclusion of a 10 year history is on a level of a MCU
    2- The Music, Soken is a masterful musician and the choice of remaster made it so much more emotional
    3- have friends that are badass thugs, and found themselfs crying over a game story...

    I worried about EW before I completed EW. SHB was extremely outstanding, and all characters were awesome. I worried if EW can follow up with SHB. But it was useless. During EW, I was impressed and cried about how all stories are connected, and how EW ended. I played FFXIV for long time, but I will miss this Hyd vs Zord story. I will miss all characters. Definitely recommend to everyone.

    The best story I have ever played in a game. This is now my favorite game of all time. The story is larger than most rpgs. The way they have build up the story/characters up and how it nicely wraps it all together in this epic finale is nothing short of stellar. This game has given me faith in gaming again as a whole.

    Thank goodness we were absolutely wrong. THIS is how you wrap up a 10 year long story. All the pieces of the puzzle, even all the way back in ARR, finally come together to tell the finale in a legendary ending. This isn't just the best story to ever be told in a MMO, it's one of my favorite RPG's of all time.     I don't really like MMO's and was always bitter an MMO took the place of a SP numbered FF but having now played from start to finish recently it's now one of my favorite FF's of all time. What an amazing ride and an amazing tribute to my favorite series.

I was pretty skeptical going into Endwalker after Shadowbringers thinking they wouldn't be able to top that expansion, especially since the focus seemed to shift towards Asahi and Zenos, but holy cow was I wrong.     I laughed, I cried, and then cried again. amazing work as always FFXIV.

    The story is second to none 9 out of 10
    The gameplay expands on SB with great new additions 10 out of 10
    The Boss fights are incredible 10 out of 10
    The music I really wish I could give a higher score but 10 out of 10

    This game has helped so many people in rough times of their lives. It deserves so much praise.

    I've been playing this game since 1.0 released. It has done a remarkable turnaround with A Realm Reborn and improved upon its story and themes throughout the expansions released. This one is by far the best expansion I have played of any MMO and overall a better game than most standalone games. It is clear that the development team loves their game.     Amazing story, and great content so far.

    Biggest suprise is the increase in dungeon difficulty, helping keep the grind of other classes and dailies interesting. Only downside is that the story has some pacing issues, leaving the player out of any content for at least hours at a time.

    First, yes there are queues and it's not optimal. Second, it's still the most stable mmo expansion release i have witnessed. Third, you are getting compensated with game time.

    As for the MSQ, you are in for a treat. It starts slower, focused around the scions and the world building of the zones and its people/new characters. Once you are in the third zone...oh boy.     The combat of the new job reaper is so insanely smooth and satisfying to play (in regards of visuals, sound and flow), that i decided to main it from now on. As for the sage i have not played it yet. Combat design in dungeons and trials are as always very good and fun to play and should not be too hard for casuals. Every trial boss in Endwalker feels so grand that it could be a final boss of a whole expansion in themselves.

    The art direction in the zones, dungeons and trials are phenomenal as well. Every zone is beautifully crafted and one is prettier than the other.

    As for the OST. I can't put it into words how incredible Soken and his magic hands/mind are which composed this OST. Every track supplements the feelings you get from the story and visuals so well.

    Overall everything seems to fall into place for Endwalker and ends a 10 year old ongoing story with a worthy ending. Which makes me very excited about the future of FF XIV.    … Expand

    Endwalker somehow did the impossible and topped Shadowbringers. At least in terms of the main story - of course things may change as more endgame content is released. The story pretty much didn't take a single wrong turn, delivering satisfying conclusions, emotional payoffs and enormous surprises in all the right ways. Well done.

    the Story is 10/10, everything is explained while your doing the MSQ you do not need to wonder or buy books to understand it KEKW. The Music is amazing. I have seen people talk about the pacing of the story. Personally I did not see any problems. yes the story is long. there are some log queue's to log in to the game. but 1-2 weeks these problems will go away. and the story is still gold

Often you'll feel impatient as the story takes a break, sometime in the middle of an urgentIf there is a comparison to make, I would say that Endwalker is to FFXIV what Endgame was to the MCU. Zenos being at the center of the story also makes it so that a lot of your enjoyment will depend on your tolerance of the character, even though they were smart to switch this story to make it more about him being your mirror than his own character.
    That being said, outside of these issues, the game is near perfect. You really feel the improvement of the cinematography of cutscenes, with them flexing the... well flexibility of the models to a point we didn't see since 1.0. The new zones are gorgeous, Masayoshi Soken's genius is dumbfounding as not only there is an incredible number of new tracks, but also none of them miss the mark. The surprises of the narrative do not feel as if coming out of nowhere despite taking a wild turn, even when comparing it to Shadowbringer and all the new characters are endearing.
    But the most impressive side of this expansion narrative-wise is that they managed to breathe new life into our Warrior of Light.
    A bit of background: Before starting Endwalker, when talking with other players, many of them (not to say a majority) felt tired of, or more like "for", their characters. After all, it's been 10 years for most of us that we see our Warrior of Light take hit after hit, Shadowbringer being really emotionally draining. With this expansion being trumpeted as the end of the saga, many of us felt it was a good moment to end our character stories and give them well-deserved retirements.
    But that ending man. Yes, it brings closure to this 10-year-old story, but it also brings so much life to this world and repositions our Warrior of Light in it. I dare you to consider your character story over with Endwalker.
    It's been a long journey, but it really felt that, as they say, "to Begin, we first must see the End"    … Expand

    Compared to ShB it is definitely more flawed, but at the same time it also reaches far higher peaks. Giving it a perfect score because in the end it really sticks the landing. And that is not something i can take for granted, for i can't even remember the last time i saw this happen with a story of this size. A fantastic end to an epic tale.

    That's why I love FF14, that's the FF14 I want to play and fell in love. It all begins as a one simple adventure and finally, I finished my work as a hero and become that normal guy to enjoy what I've seen in this journey. However, Our Journey Never End.

    - We know questing in MMO is boring, every MMO player would agree on that one. The idea to place the entire story in dialogs, cinematics and few mini games is amazing. And this decision would not be good if they didn't wrote one of the best stories ever. It was just a great finale for both the Zodiark/Hydaelyn saga and the first chapter.

    - New zones are absolutely stunning. At first it was quite strange that some of them are existing only in the main story and will not be lore friendly to go back there, but that gave them the freedom to do insane things with those zones. Totally stunning design.

    - Music is master piece. This the only MMO that I just can't play with spotify instead of its original audio and even so, this expansion was above expetations (I still don't like the trailer song, but everything else was stunning).

    - Dungeons solo quests and trials were designed amazing.It was pretty good introduction of all basic mechanics that will help to the new players in the future challanges. I love that they are a bit faster and more mechanics overlap on normal mode so it didn't felt too easy, holding your hand content. And we already know that the next patches will unlock some great addition to this.    … Expand

    Its definitely very enjoyable, and undeniably an incredible game overall, but the expansion is not perfect.    … Expand

    The beginning of the game is a little quiet, but our tension will rise and rise toward the climax. The portrayal of the people, the landscapes, the ideas and cultures of the different countries, and the musical attachments to these images are just amazing.

    I will also say a few bad things about it.

    There are places in the story where we have to play some rather tedious mini-games. This may be to avoid congestion of people going through the game, or it may be the producer's intention to lead us to a catharsis.
    But let's face it, if it's a hassle, it's a hassle.

    It may indeed be distressing for the creators that the content in the game is consumed so quickly by so many people, but that doesn't make us hate the game. Besides, people with different interests will pass on information to each other, and the various fun aspects of this game will spread over time as new fun.
    Anyway, I think the most important thing is tempo. It may be difficult, but I would like to see more text to entertain us in areas that seem to be redundant and stretch out the playtime.

    On the other hand, I will tell you that in terms of the system, some of the redundant stuff could be simplified and made more playable.

    With all my love for the great MMO World of Warcraft, I am happy to see that FF14, a WoW clone, has achieved a rare growth as a story-driven MMORPG. I want people from all walks of life to be able to play FF14. From start to finish.    … Expand

    I had no idea how they would manage to write an even better story than Shadowbringers, and yet it blew it out of the water and beyond. I have never felt such strong emotions playing a video game until Endwalker. Thank you for such an amazing ride! I look forward to everything to come in the future.

    One of the best stories I've ever played through, the fact that this is in an MMORPG/RPGMMO just blows my mind. The story alone can be a whole separate game. In terms of the MMO part, this is how every MMO should be, choices (meaningful btw), nothing is timegated, no dumb system and class design on point. Good Job SE! 10/10

    A story has never impacted me as much as Endwalker and in turn the entirety of FFXIV has. This expansion is the finale to my favorite story of all time, and it nails the landing so well that it feels unreal it was this good. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it for days.

    Server issues have been explained transparently and in detail, and a little bit of understanding during a pandemic and a semiconductor shortage doesn't hurt. That being said, this game is PHENOMENAL. It has ascended to become my favorite Final Fantasy, if not my favorite game of all time. Don't let the server login issues mix with the actual quality and merit of this game: it is transcendent.

    If you didn’t like FFXIV before now, Endwalker will do nothing to change your mind. But if you’re in, this emotional rollercoaster will be rolling towards a satisfying conclusion, that absolutely will not disappoint.

    FFXIV is currently the best MMORPG available. The main reason is because it’s RPG first, MMO second. The story isn’t just an afterthought, but an integral part of the experience, and everything else revolves around the tale of the Warrior of Light. It’s logical, well-planned, and presented with great, voiced (or not) cut-scenes.
