My personal favorite turn based RPG. This remaster was done well and even had new features like cheats and etc. I was very glad to finally own it on PC because my ps2 copy was damaged years ago

The dresssphere system is also an interesting twist on classes, so I definitely recommend checking it out. Expand

Aquela cena do lago me desceu uma lagrima.
Recomendo para qualquer jogador que curte um bom RPG.
Obs: o FFX-2 nao tem como kk

I have waited SO long to finally be able to play FFX since I didn't own any consoles. Even without the nostalgic factor, I can finally understand why so many people praise this game so much. It is a true masterpiece, I wouldn't even call it a "game" because it feels far superior. It's the best experience I've ever had, other than watching the awesome creations of Monty Oum, a great animator and big FF fan.

This is a once in a lifetime irreplaceable experience to me. The story is out of this world amazing and I still feel the chill down my spine whenever I re-listen to the awesome soundtracks, like Suteki Da Ne.

I recognize the flaws in the voice acting, the quality of some models are underwhelming, but this is NOT how you judge such a masterpiece that was made over 15 years ago.

It will forever hold a place in my heart, and I will definitely re-visit the greatness of Spira very soon, or perhaps try the other FF titles made by Square before the merge.

Traditionally Square Enix Final Fantasy ports have been hit or miss for one reason or another. Some titles are ports of their mobile counterparts which doesn't translate well to PC.

I am glad to say that from the time I have spent with the game thus far the game has run at a steady frame rate on my i5 with a GTX 750 ti 2gb Vram OC'ed and 8 gb of total ram. I have not yet experienced a crash of any sort. Perhaps the game was easier to port from PS4 given the similar architecture. I am unsure if this is a port of the PS3 or PS4 version. What I will say is that the game looks great and comes with a variety of resolution options as well as windowed, full screen and borderless window.

In addition to those options the PC port also also supports a variety of other video options including antialiasing, color correction, shadows, anisoptropic filtering, tex quality, post filter aa, unsharp mask, and Ambient occlusion.

These options are certainly welcome and a good step up from other ports from Square. Though it is disappointing the game still appears to be capped at 30fps. Its not a deal breaker as this isn't a fast paced shooter or anything where frame rate really matters.

The game also features a number of 'cheats' ranging from encounter rates to max items, gil and skill unlocks. These are nice options for people that may just want to experience the story. As you might expect achievements are also available.

With the technical stuff out of the way, this is the same game you remember and love from the PS2 with a new coat of paint. If you never played the original or the remake. You play as Tidus a star Blitzball player and embark on an adventure to defeat Sin. On the way you will meet likeable characters and upgrade them using a sphere grid to unlock new abilities. There are plenty of side activities to partake in including Blitzball, finding all the aeons, acquiring Legendary weapons and more. X-2 is also included which is a matter of take it or leave it for some folks.

All in all FFX/X-2 HD for PC is a solid port and is something Square should carry forward from here on out and seek to raise the bar even higher.

    Final Fantasy X
To fuel my fire even more to play the remaster; Many years ago when I played this game I got stuck on one boss and in my innocence of youth I couldn't beat the Bevelle dragon. Eventually dropping the game all together, and skipping to X-2 when it released. I had my revenge this time around.
The HD parts of the game are really nice and enjoyable. Increased features in the faces of most characters added more life to them compared to back on the ps2 game. Sadly it was only on certain parts of the game. You would go from HD faces to the flat features. I wish it was more consistent.
Gameplay and combat are the typical turn based combat. Character progression is done on a huge sphere grid giving you the ability to branch characters off to how you want to build them. Granted some ways are blocked off so to start it is a linear path of building but later levels and spheres give you the chance to rework the characters.
Story is decent. It starts off very slow, leaving you wondering what the hell is going on and why. Once things pick up you find a purpose to keep playing. Even though Tidus is considered the main character, I like to view Yuna as the main spotlight. The growth of her character is the spotlight in the game and continues into the sequel. Also I find Tidus annoying and the dialogue he utters is a instant face palm with a shake of the head.

Some problems with Final Fantasy X: The Blitzball. The mini game is fun at first, I remembered playing it a lot before but then I recalled...I never won before because the difficulty is a large curve. The AI teams play x10 better then your team in any match. Its not impossible by any means to win. Just the odds are stacked against you. If you look online you see that there is a game glitch that you can do to always win.
Camera control in the game is nonexistent and there are hidden chests on most off camera shots. You can only catch them between switching scenes and get lucky to spot the chest. Movement from frames lose their fluidity. Often leaving you to release the joy stick and move it again to continue the proper direction.
I also wish the developers added some hints into the game about the hidden celestial weapons that you can unlock for each character. When I reached the end and was having problem taking out the final boss fights I did some research and found out about these special weapons for each character and the 3 special aeons you can get. Granted it just gives me another reason to play in the future.

    Final Fantasy X-2
I got the remaster more for this game then Final Fantasy X. I still have my ps2 and a copy of Final Fantasy X-2, I never wish to get rid of that memory. Surprisingly this game could be my all time favorite FF game, beating FF7. Everything about the game had me captivated before and still holds the magic.
Combat is tweaked from FFX; Still a turn based system but on a faster scale. They add some limits to it so a monster cant bash you to death if you cant make up your mind on a skill. Now the whole turn is based on how many individual turns each character (including monster) gets. A monster could attack you 2-3 times before all your characters take their attacks. It adds some speed to the game and quick thinking.
For the remaster release they released a special video in between FFX and FFX-2 to fill in the gap of story. Thank you. It was not hard before to fill in the gaps between games but now it is done for you. The story for FFX-2 blows away the first installment. A treasure hunt to find a loved one that leads to you saving the world at the same time. Classic. Paced between five chapters, with only one chapter (chapter 4) feeling uneventful. Which oddly enough is where my favorite part of the game comes to play, Yunapalooza.
Character development leaves the sphere grid and now takes form in dress spheres. There are a wide variety (With two special ones added with the Remaster) dress spheres that gave the wearer ability and stats. Each character can use any dress sphere and you have to use the sphere to level it up and learn skills. Within one playthrough ending at Level 65 I was able to master about 3-4 dress spheres for each character, out of the 19 total.

Speaking about the game itself is one of the Final Fantasy together with the 7 and the 9 (maybe) that even a pc gamer should know and play. The adventure is great, so are the minigames (blitzball addict!) and the plot itself. Combat is turn based and is well defined and never so hard. A particularity of this game is the levelling system, based on a "sphereoghrapy" where you decide where to focus you characters (even if following the standard route is probably the best choice until midgame at least).
7 Characters means a loot of deepness and possibilities in each combat.

The only bad thing is the framerate stuck at 30 fps, it might look a little "slow" compared to an average pc game. They just kept the original framerate. Some also complained about the huge amount of cut scenes and dialouge, but to me this is what build the plot of the game into its perfection together with the soundtrack.

THIS GAME SOLD 8 MILLION COPIES WORLDWIDE, 4 million only on ps2, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Or, you must swap in all characters each battle, even if they have nothing to contribute, otherwise they receive no experience, and stay underdeveloped for battles where they must fight. The story is really great, but overly complex. You will need to read about it again after you finish it, to clear things in your head. Still, it will really touch you in the end.

The gameplay is boring though. There is no challenge, it is literally rock/paper/scissors. Certain enemies are weaker vs certain team members, so you switch them on the fly depending on the encounter. Boriiiinnnnggggg. You just have to suffer from it to see the story.

If your time is limited, just watch a "movie version" on youtube. Otherwise, it is worth a playthrough.

Final Fantasy X-2 Remaster: A remaster of a j-pop jrpg trash. Much worse gameplay and unneeded story that in the end spoils the story of X. I won't proceed to spoilers, but rest assured, it would have been better if X-2 was never made. Just don't touch this filth.

I've previously played XII, XIV, and XV on PC. This is by far my least favorite.

Besides the bland, overly youthful faces common to JRPGs, much of the dialog is banal. Combat varies from overwhelmingly boring to overwhelmingly difficult. It gets less fun as you go on... and it goes on a LONG time!

Choose one of the later versions (XIV is multiplayer).

While instantly aesthetically displeasing and having bad writing and bad voice acting [really campy b-movie level], it really did seem like it was an 8/10 early on. As the game goes on it becomes more and more abrasive for many reasons.

-The random encounters are all rock paper scissors fights where you hit really heavy and so do they, so you have to manually heal your party after every single battle

-They hype up this big sports game in the story, then when you finally get to play it, it is a rigged match made for you loose badly in, and then instead of that mattering for the story like they hyped it to, the game disappears into the menu at save spots as an optional minigame

-there are very annoying puzzles with unnecessary menus that pop up anytime you want to do something

-There are very few enemy types, they get reused often and in the same exact combinations

-There are very very cheap enemies that can wipe out your entire party before you even have a turn later on, making them harder than bosses

    -the protagonist is exceedingly dumb

-a sex scene happens completely out of no where with no lead up romance

-there is a race of people who speak a different language, and you find books that teach you one letter each, and you never piece it together. You are supposed to combine the letters your friends have found on the same game system by combining the save files. So you go through the game watching all this dialogue in a different language annoyed that you can't understand it and are missing parts of the story.

-the airship in this game is unusable

-they didn't bother to lip-sync the characters to the english audio

-an entire level where you have to constantly be on edge for lighting to hit you

    -and you can't skip cutscenes

This last point brings me to where I quit. After a 5 minute long cutscene, I was faced with a boss that killed one of my party members before I even had a turn, and then later killed them all in one hit. When you get a game over, it doesn't offer to reload from the start of the fight or the cutscene OR your last save file. It goes back to loading the main menu. You have to click through to prevent the opening movie to play, load your game, walk back to where you were, and sit through the same poorly written, poorly acted cutscene again, only to face the same poorly designed boss.

I truly do not know why this game is highly regarded, I am more disappointed in the community than the game.

    FFX-2

At first it seemed pretty cool. I could play through as a giant crab if i wanted to. The job system is cool. I love their goth friend. The way they tease each other is funny and lighthearted. But the more I played, the more sloppy the design became. I went to a place with a mission, it didn't tell me where that mission was, eventually I encountered a red "go there!" arrow on my mini-map, and when i went where it told me, there was nothing to do there. So I tried another mission and it involved going through an entire level you already went through in FFX just to have someone run away so you have to backtrack through that entire same level again, all with random encounters. This is a sloppy mess.

There is a serious green screen phenomenon in this HD collection, which is caused by high resolution. It is likely to appear when playing CG, which destroys the original game experience. At the same time, the game will get stuck frequently when playing at a resolution of more than 1080p. But 'FINAL FANTASY X' still is a great game.

I didn't like any of these 2 games, the worst of the saga in my opinion.

I particularly didn't continue playing, I searched spoilers in the internet and that saved me.

The premade characters are not my taste, and the story seems like something for a girl.

Really one of the best experiences I ever had with JRPGs. The story is mind-blowing and provides you strong reasons to care for the characters. FFX is truly a unique experience. The music is one of the best in the series (I recommend original OST over the arranged version), and the gameplay is good ol' classic final fantasy turn-based combat; the true way FF games are meant to be playedReally one of the best experiences I ever had with JRPGs. I think it's my third or fourth time visiting Spira (honestly, I lost count). I just never get tired of this game. Expand

I’ve mentioned before how as I’ve gotten older my passion for turn based games has faded, Final Fantasy X didn’t change that trajectory but it was certainly an unforgettable experience that gets bogged down here & there.

The story of FFX is truly special & timeless. I’m obsessed with every part of this narrative & haven’t been able to stop thinking about it for months on end. It’s emotional, fun, heartbreaking, tragic & absolutely worth experiencing in any way you can. I wish I could experience it for the first time again. The soundtrack is AMAZING, remastered or not I love the majority of these tracks & bought the FFX Soundtrack CD as quickly as I could. The main characters are great too, some get more attention than others for sure & while they can’t compete with some of my favorite RPG parties of all time, I still care about them all in their own unique ways. Everybody is memorable which is hard to accomplish (except for the R*cist). The world building for Spira is as wonderful as it is gorgeous despite all the death, destruction & corruption. There’s few games out there than can make you actually FEEL like you’re on a long adventure with your favorite people, but FFX achieves that. I don’t mind the linear locations either! The combat is also good, I think this is where turn based combat tends to peak for me. It’s extremely fast, the animations are on point to this day, there’s some timing mini games required for some powerful moves, all of this makes me think WHAT IS POKÉMON’S EXCUSE? Why are 20 year old RPGs quicker than most modern ones? Sigh.
Well it can’t all be good, the PC port of this game is not great. I have a stronger PC but why is FFX locked to 30fps (60fps in menus only) with semi-frequent frame drops? There was a few occasions where the cutscenes glitched out & turned the whole screen green, only fixed by me closing the game & reloading it, one of the most important cutscenes in the endgame got tarnished by the screen turning puke green for no reason. It doesn’t help that not every cutscene is able to be skipped if you have to reload the game, or if you die in battle. I’m not sure why the game picks & chooses which are skippable even after you’ve viewed them. Also weird how this feature & other PC features are absent from the console versions of this remaster. The HD coat of paint looks very good for environments, but after seeing the original character models vs the HD ones, yeahhh the originals look less uncanny. If you aren’t an important character in FFX your character model will suffer GREATLY for it, the difference in quality is distracting tbh. The voice acting gets some flack but it never bothered me all that much. While I enjoyed the combat, at the end of the day it still doesn’t grip me as much as a non-turn based RPG does. Some enemies & bosses are a b*tch to deal with & made me consider dropping the game all together. I’m not great at job-based RPGs & may never be. The sphere grid isn’t my favorite thing isn’t the world, I would’ve preferred a regular level up system instead of rotting away in menus for hours. Blitzball was a MISERABLE experience & I never touched it again after the one mandatory match. The puzzle sections of this game can BURN in the fiery pits of the underworld too. I think this game would benefit greatly from a full remake (ideally all in one part Square..) It’s a great experience but I didn’t have as much fun actually playing it as I wish I could have. In terms of RPG storytelling & music, FFX is one of the mandatory standards for this genre. There is room for improvement imo, I would buy a full remake in a heartbeat if they modernized the gameplay. Take my money Square!

This is my first time playing FF games. In general, I am very impressive with the plot and I am definitely going to try out some other games in the series.

The main story and the characters didnt really catch me and the game felt slightly boring for me. This doesnt make it a bad game but if you want a good story I recommend to play FF7, FF8 and FF9.

Simply put, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is the most complete package for one of the most celebrated entries in the series. Not everything included has stood up to the test of time, but the sentiment of the whole being better than the sum of its parts describes this HD collection perfectly.

After the console versions (PS3, PS4, PS Vita), this new porting of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD is definitely the best one available. Whether you love it or hate it, this is the version you need if you want to (re)play the adventures of Tidus and Yuna.
