    F.E.A.R Perseus Mandate

    So underrated game !!!
I enjoy this expansion more than F.E.A.R vanila.

    Pros:
+great level design. Best so far. I haven't play FEAR 2 and 3 yet.
    +new weapons
+great graphic. Evan for today standards. No blur, bloom, HDR to cover imperfections. Great textures.
+it has more feeling than FEAR + EP

    Cons:
    - few enemy types.

F.E.A.R Perseus Mandate was so scary, which is the best aspect of this game and I love it so much. Overall I love it, it was amazing. Expand

DO NOT let the metacritic score steer you away from this game. I loved the original F.E.A.R. and beat if a few years back. based upon the metacritic review I was never going to try this or th other expansion pack as my backlog is already huge and I don't have time for "bad" games.

I recently wanted to play F.E.A.R. again but didn't want to go through the same story over. When I read the plot of this expansion, and how it took place during the events of the original I figured I would give it a go. I fell in love with this just as I did the original F.E.A.R. It is a great fun shooter that I would look forward to playing each day when I got home. Now that I have beaten it I still want more, time to try Extraction Point I guess.

The bad reviews mostly talk about how it is too similar and used a dated engine with old graphics. In 2013 I am not playing F.E.A.R. for its HD visuals (though it doesn't look bad in 1920x1080), and more of the same is exactly what I wanted. I could see back in 07 when this expansion was full price why some may be turned off, but for those looking to re-live the joy of the original F.E.A.R. but wanting a new story getting this on a steam sale for pennies is swell worth the and time.

I was happy with this game, it did seem to not be as well made as the other two games. The AI at times is laughable. The story how ever is the strongest in this game of the entire series. If you loved FEAR you will love this as well. If you have never played FEAR before, you probably should look elsewhere for a FPS.

I know critics have blasted this one.I think this is a solid shooter. Why they have critisized?Because most of them have played only first two levels which are I admit terrible.but form level three it regains real FEAR type.and those are real fun.grafic design is a bit repititive at first two levels.

It's mostly more of the same, but that's certainly not a bad thing. A very solid shooter that delivers on the scares and satisfying gun-play. Graphics are somewhat dated, but the game doesn't really suffer from it, and the bullet-time effects and blood splatter still look great. The story is engaging and is a worthy expansion to the FEAR universe. As stated, great value for money.

Nat a terrible game; just more of the same. grant you, if the AI was more advanced, it would be great, but w/e. If you like the first one but felt it was to short, then this is a great filler.

More of the same, andI enjoyed it. As usual, "professional reviewers" are out of touch and paid to say specific things. Whenever I hear some talking about the "engine" being the problem, I know there is something wrong (these are the idiots who still say they play Half Life 1 all the time). Plain and simple, this is a nice shooter for the FEAR series. I still had fun, and still enjoyed More of the same, andI enjoyed it. The latter half of the game had some really spooky weird guys in the floor too! Yes, the scenery looks similar (it is FEAR for goodness sake) but the abandoned subway/city is really cool (I wanted more of that). And the new assault rifle is pretty nice too. The new weapons are not earth shattering, but they are decent, especially the new assault rifle. As usual, reviews are all over the place. What do people want anyway. These are the same folks who said Crysis was amazing, and most of the customer reviews said quite the opposite. Oh well, never believe what you read on the internet I guess. Expand

    Still pretty G.R.E.A.T.

As an expansion pack for the initial FEAR game it’s no surprise that FPM is basically more of the same. That’s not a bad thing though, given that FEAR was a pretty good game (4/5). So there’s more of the tense, spooky atmosphere and more of the enjoyable combat (the slo-mo is still great fun). The graphics appear unaltered, but it’s not bad looking for a game for

It does, however, suffer from a lacklustre first half, after which the pace and atmosphere suddenly ratchet up a notch and the game comes to life. It’s still very much a corridor shooter, with little variation in environment. But it’s the atmosphere and combat that make the FEAR games, and once again FPM delivers in both areas.

The F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate game is still playable on 2020 at Windows 10 after FPS fix applied. There is also fix for a too small subtitles on high resolutions, so... have fun after 13 years from the game's premiere :).

Horror component is not what I needed. But Action is fine. The best even to date. If you're into action then PM is the best of F1 series.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is weird.

At times it looks unfinished, especially some scenery at the beginning. At times, it feels well thought.

    The good:
    - Diversity of scenery.
    - Sense of urgency in the storyline.
    - Simple and entertaining story, albeit unoriginal.
    - Variety of weaponry. I could change my main weapons every one or two intervals, and that's fun.
    - More reactive environments to the fights.
    - More conflict everywhere.

    The bad:
    - The baddies are kind of boring.
    - The new main rifle is underwhelming.
    - Some weapons feel too cartoonish, like the laser carbine and the ray gun. Also too little ammo for both, so they're mostly a novelty in the game. The carbine is a fun weapon if you like precision shooting, but it lasts too little.
    - The grenade launcher is a weird weapon. I sometimes can't know if it's being effective or not. It feels just shooting wherever and if used in a closed environment, you'll likely only kill yourself.
    - The mini-bosses or whatever, those baldies with yellowish googles, that can bend time and space and have incredible endurance make the game difficulty feel artificial. I like playing it in extreme and I can beat them, but it feels wrong that 5 shots of the shotgun to the mostly unarmored face, don't kill them.
    - The gutters maze (abandoned metro area) feels too long for what it offers.
    - The underground spook is underwhelming and feels added just to have some cheap scares.
    - The lack of storyline for the main character. I don't complain much because I enjoyed the game overall, but it removes all what makes Point Man special, because he has identical abilities, "just because". I'd enjoy if they thought a bit more on the story. Even Alma is like, what am I doing here? Ah yes, just killing randomly. Like she could somehow give the abilities to the Sargent to fulfil some purpose of herself, so you develop a unique dynamic with Alma.

I didn't really like the original F.E.A.R. ending. I felt it too unrewarding. And this ending also feels unrewarding. I mean, you recovered Alma's DNA, do something with it other than just fly away and get promoted! Show it being stolen or something. You quickly forget you got it little after you get it.
Is the final big fight an attempt on it or just to kill me, like always?
Albeit I see the bad, I enjoy playing this time and time again. I'm not much of a gamer, but all F.E.A.R 1 three games are fun to me.

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate builds upon the franchise's strengths with improved level design, fresh enemies, and engaging gameplay mechanics + a noticeable difficulty increase.

  1. Unfortunately, the new enemies aren't that much different from the original ones, and the additional weapons don't add much to the game. Veteran players will have a persistent "been there, done that" feeling throughout the adventure, while newcomers may feel a little lost, since Perseus Mandate makes so many direct references to the previous games.

We’ll make this easy. If you’re a fan of F.E.A.R. and have just been looking for more of the same firefights with a couple of new weapons and enemies, then you’re probably going to find Perseus Mandate fun. If you’re looking for something new or compelling and some flahy sound or visuals, don’t bother.
  3. F.E.A.R. doesn't deliver this time around, the looks are fading and the sounds aren't at all new and fresh.
