Great game from start to finish. Isn't as much of a jumpy/thriller FPS as it is a psychological one. It's somewhat fast paced, but also builds up a sense of tension and horror.. as if a little dead girl is following you're every move. A must play of horror/fps fans.

About what you would expect in an expansion pack. There's not really anything new but a few weapons. The automatic turrets are kinda neat. It's pretty much exactly like the first installment with extra missions. For $25.00 it's a good buy.

Basically, more F.E.A.R. The quality from the original title remain.

    Pros:
    +new locations
    +new enemys
    +new weapons
+continue story from the end of the original game

    Cons:
-not so diverse as I expected
    -storyplot a little bit disappointing

A must play for those who enjoyed original F.E.A.R

The major gripe however is recycled EVERYTHING. Weapons, environments, gameplay and encounters are basically the same as the original. The are 3 major differences however, 1. A new scary enemy type that creeps me out 2. You can use a handy minigun and 3. It has some new environments that would be made better in FEAR 2. Extraction Point has more mech fights too and they work well, along with the rest of the intelligent AI, slow-mo and mostly non-linear levels. The only other problem besides the minor recycling issue is the connectivity of levels. Some jumps to other locations are absurd; at one point; you exit a subway tunnel to go to the top of a car park building. Also one moment that made me annoyed is this-if you played the first FEAR and remember the fat guy who the only real baddie that did anything against you, he appears in this game, but for about 5 seconds and he's in a place that makes no sense. Overall the game is like the original, but has the fact that it is basically the original with some aged problems, but is still brilliant-pcik it up, especially if it come in the FEAR Files pack cheap. While not as good as F.E.A.R. it's still pretty awesome, and even more tough than it's predecessor. The action is non-stop, story not that bad, and overall it's just a pretty nice game if you like FPS's.

I liked FEAR, and think this was more fun! Yeah, some of it is similar, but a lot of stuff is new and takes place in different, albeit familiar areas. It's good - don't be afraid to check it out.

I think that the story doesn't make much sense but the game is really good, I under if F.E.A.R 2 will come to finish the story, Paxton and Alma are still alive and the world is being destroyed... I hope that F.E.A.R 2 come to stores.

Nice. Scary. Freaking well made PC Game!

Replaying it in 2015 you really begin to appreciate how a game for a PC should be made. Really puts all the lame abysmal garbage console ports we get now a days. Some advice for devs and pushers - Complete a PC Game first - THEN port it to consoles. Not the other way around.
Learn, you greedy bastards - maybe you'll start earning back some respect from PC Gamers.

This expansion pack is about as fun as the best bits of the original game. The levels are great, and in my opinion noticeably more intense and scary..

    Still G.R.E.A.T.

As an expansion pack for the initial FEAR game it’s to be expected that FEP is basically more of the same; and that’s not a bad thing, given that FEAR was a pretty good game (4/5). There’s still no humour but there is a reasonable story line. And it’s still very much a corridor shooter, with little variation in environment. But it’s the atmosphere and combat that make the FEAR games, and FEP delivers in both areas.

The F.E.A.R. Extraction Point is still playable on 2020 at Windows 10 after FPS fix applied. There is also fix for a too small subtitles on high resolutions, so... have fun after 14 years from the game's premiere :)

Expand

A good addition where the spirit and atmosphere of F.E.A.R. has not been lost. Probably the only addition to the F.E.A.R. which is really worth going through.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point expands on the original's strengths with more intense action, but its short length and lack of innovation hold it back.

Expansion brings us continuation of the history of first game parts, new weapons and enemies. The game still places can scare, but in my opinion, is not haunted longer so much. Unfortunately not live to see the story of Alma solutions. The game will leave us again with a great amount of questions and fury will look out for in the end credits.

Nice action, really nice. New locations. There is not so much ammo for New weapons, so old ones still rule. The downside is the plot. It's so repetitive. Funny the first time the problem was repetitive level design.

A good addition in which we get more answers about the plot. Yes, the game has become shorter, but this is even a plus. Open spaces appeared in the game, and excellent shootings in them. Overall a good addition to the first part of the game.

Same old same old environments, guns, npc, if ur a fan of Fear than its not all bad still fun combat.

Worth playing at its time a lot of reused environments get old, but the gore and kill satisfaction is still one of the best to date which is sad for how old it is.

    Worth $2

Basically just more FEAR. There's next to nothing new in this expansion. The story is almost non-existent and the FEAR series doesn't even consider it canon. You'll fight your way through the same areas, fighting the same enemies, looking at the same grey color for the entire campaign. Not really worth it unless you're a die-hard FEAR fan itching for more action.

The developers have drenched some of the areas in ridiculous amount of blood to make it fear-like but most areas are really quite grey and unimaginative. There are some new enemies and weapons in the game but players of the original will probably not find a whole lot of new exiting features in this expansion pack. The core gameplay is extremely similar to original which is fine since the original game is by no means bad. The campaign could however be a little bit meatier not to mention actually scary. I didn't get particularly scared at any point in the game despite being a gigantic chicken so the game hardly lives up to its name. The length of the campaign is also a little bit on the short side. This game is by no means bad and its a pretty average first person shooter. Its basically a couple of more hours of the original game which is not a bad deal for a fair price. Expand

Coming from an experienced FPS gamer perspective ... F.E.A.R. Extraction Point is a chore to get through. There is way too much health scattered around the place, bullet time can be initiated around every corner letting you easily kill every enemy and the scares are fairly cheap although some are interesting to look at. Save your bandwidth and digitally purchase another game.

  1. Today, the added content in this expansion is still fun – but it’s more of a lunch with an old friend than a sizzling date with a hottie you just met.
  2. Although this is essentially more of the same with a couple new elements, it’s executed well. The photorealistic graphics, edgy atmosphere, and riotous gunplay mix masterfully to create phantasmagoric art.

Even on the highest difficulty setting, Extraction Point is going to take around five hours to beat. Considering only four of the six intervals turn out to be full-featured stages, that's pretty bare bones in terms of price versus gameplay time.
