    You have to overcome your fear, going through gloomy locations for the main character, along the way solving various puzzles and trying to understand what is happening in general, in what the lines with which Deacon accompanies various situations will help you. Believe me, the atmosphere in the game can cause fear from everything from a brick falling from a wall to a suddenly opening door.    … Expand

    One of the most underrated first person shooters of all time. The Half-Life spin-off team, choosing to minimize the puzzles/alien environmentsOne of the most underrated first person shooters of all time. The Half-Life spin-off team, choosing to minimize the puzzles/alien environments that were, famously, the least fun part of what was of course, Valve's former masterpiece, the original Half-Life, while also choosing to expand upon what did work: the tactical combat, particularly when it came to the humanoid-on-humanoid squad-based action, was nothing short of genius. Excellent execution, perfect modification. F.E.A.R. will always be an all time favorite of mine, up there with Half-Life/Opposing Force, Goldeneye, Doom/Wolfenstein Series, Duke Nukem 3D and Quake. Would definitely like to take this opportunity to thank the F.E.A.R. team, and Valve for laying the groundwork. Definitely need more focused, target-rich, single player FPS campaigns. The F.E.A.R. team got it right. Also gotta throw some credit Valve's way for HL2, which was pretty sweet. Still haven't committed to the latest installment (VR), but maybe sometime soon. Keep up the great work. Writing this review in 2021. It will most likely never get read. But, that's okay. Because it's the thought that counts. Which is an important insight. Like the insight the F.E.A.R. team had... to take the best parts of HL and make it into a game.… Expand

    I wish I could play this again for the first time! Turn down the lights, turn up the difficulty, play in the dark!
