    I have played all Far Cry games, except primal, and I think this one is among the best.

    It strays pretty far from the rest of the franchise in that it has a lot more RPG elements than the others. There is the usual perk tree, but you can upgrade some perks several times. The same is true for the guns, which you first craft, and then upgrade to do higher damage by using more materials.     The story far surpasses Far Cry 5 with more fleshed out characters who are given a back story, albeit a short one, but still with emotional depth. It also concludes the story from the previous game in a satisfying way.

    While it uses a part of the map from Far Cry 5 it is barely recognizable. Even though only 17 years have passed since the nuclear apocalypse everything has drastically decayed (for some reason) and there were only a few places I could clearly identify from their glory days.

    I don't have much negative to say, but the thing that bugged me the most were the followers. There are eight in total, out of which six are human and two are animals, a dog and a boar. All the human followers have only a few lines of dialog which they keep repeating, they attack when I don't want them to and and ignore enemies when I need help. They are slow to get in a vehicle with me and several tend to to use attacks that turn the battlefield into a raging fire inferno which is incredibly annoying. The animals are far better and have really useful perks to boot.

    The price of the game is also a detractor with two thirds of the price of the predecessor, but only one third of the content.    … Expand

    As a player who haven't played Far Cry 5 I loved it. Other people say that the game is bad just because its similar to FC5.? But if you did not play Far Cry 5 BUY NEW DAWN!!!

    Очень сильно удивился, сюжет крайне сильно затянул. Деление оружия на уровни поначалу показалось бредом, но потом сильно втянуло. В общем игра на удивление хороша.

    if you like far cry 5 I think you will enjoy this game I know I did.
    its definitely not a masterpiece but its a good far cry game and it doesn't deserve the level of hate its getting.
    the graphics are amazing on my pc and the gun play is on point the story didn't really catch me I enjoyed the rpg elements but by mid game I felt like Rambo Jesus the hunting mechanics are garbage and    if you like far cry 5 I think you will enjoy this game I know I did.

    the micro transactions are in your face with almost everything you do but are complexly unnecessary had zero problem with getting threw the game without them

    Amazing graphics even by 2020 standards, but very smooth framerates. Great RPG elements. Satisfying shooting experience.

    A little more cartoony (console-ish) than Far Cry 5, but still entertaining, even if the humor sometimes gets in the way of immersion.

    If I'd paid full price for this at release I'd probably score it lower, but at current Steam prices I see no reason to doc points for being only 3/4 of a new game.

    Visually, New Dawn has the same glorious fidelity and lush environments as Far Cry 5. This should be expected, because they just painted over the map with orchid on the brush. I think the pink theme is much needed in a post-apocalypse (beige was getting really old). I was impressed enough to make a visual showcase video for Youtube.

    The gameplay is a step back from Far Cry 5. Far Cry 5 kept the "humans are actually normal vulnerable humans" philosophy. In New Dawn, you can encounter higher difficulty enemies that are not defeatable if your weapons are not at a high enough level. I stumbled across enemies several times that ate multiple 30-round mags of assault rifle ammo and I had to run away. Not cool. The combat is more arcade-like (think Borderlands), which I do not prefer at all. It's a spin-off game so whatever there I guess. Same goes for the wildlife. Much more arcadey, with glowing weak-points on the animals' bodies - cheesy.
    The currency system is fine. You craft ammo instead of buying it. Common scrap replaces money in this game, basically. Weapons are tiered to match the enemy difficulty they are most effective against.

    The characters are mostly uninteresting. You can find some favorites, like Hurk, if you Google up where to go. Ubi tied this new pink world into the ending of Far Cry 5 appropriately. Those parts are interesting enough.

    The new antagonists are not nearly as interesting as Far Cry 5's and don't even come close to someone like Vaas. Not much to say about them. They do bad things and are annoying to listen to during cutscenes. Their personalities do not have any depth and they exhibit no charisma.

    The story pacing is the weakest point of the entire game. There are essentially "busy tasks" in between the lackluster main story missions, just like every bad RPG ever made. It's obviously just fluff to make a small game seem larger and more worthy of a $40 suggested retail price.

    About halfway through the game, I lost the urge to finish it. This was especially jarring, seeing as the previous games in the series kept me glued until I finished them. I guess the lesson for me is to stick the main titles and never go off on the spin-offs. The terrible part of this one was that they portrayed it as a direct sequel. It's not. Maybe worth $10 on a Steam sale if you're a hardcore fan of the series.    … Expand

    i liked it, mostly for how smooth it runs. no bugs and super high fps. bad guys don't matter just like the bad guys in the last game. bad guys are lame and not menacing or entertaining at all.

    Unfortunately, there is also a lot not to like, here. The scenery is too fuchsia, courtesy of the mutant flowers spawning everywhere. Driving cars is a chore, given that your eyes are positioned on a level with the cockpit, preventing you from seeing where you are going – just use 3rd person vehicles, it’s much better. Fire is annoying, as is fishing. Certain weapons are great, other are kind of pointless.
    Most of all, I hated most story missions. I know it’s a FC trademark, but I’m sick&tired of being stripped of all weapons and having to perform some highly unlikely escape sequence. The game forces certain idiotic decisions on you, putting you at the mercy of your enemies again and again.
    The final confrontation with the main antagonists gives new meaning to the term “bullet sponge”. Tank-resistant enemies with super-powered weapons (a flame thrower on steroids – of course the enemy is fireproof). You are forced to fight blind, while enemies can see perfectly well through the smoke. Many enemies help out the main opponents, but most of all, what I really hated the most, is a infinite sequence of guard dogs attacking you every few seconds, preventing you from landing the hundreds of hits you need to take the sponge down.
    I don’t like games that are too easy, and FCND is ok on the difficult setting. This battle, on the other hand, did not make me feel powerful but rather just a chump, like a fly fighting King Kong. Not impossibly difficult, mind me, nowhere near souls boss-difficult, but still very annoying.
    All in all, the game is ok. I had fun taking and retaking the various outposts and unlocking weapons and equipment. After all, it’s what every FC does; in this case, the map is smaller and the story less refined, but still worth a go, at a reduced price.    … Expand

    Open world shooter, you can treat it as a large DLC to Far Cry 5. If you like Far Cry 5, you will be happy to find a very nice post apocalyptic setup of a familiar map. With a very colorful aesthetics. The game adds replayable arenas and captured outposts.

    As a big fan of Far Cry 5, I welcome this one, following the same overall formula: freedom of action in between story telling, with    Open world shooter, you can treat it as a large DLC to Far Cry 5. If you like Far Cry 5, you will be happy to find a very nice post apocalyptic setup of a familiar map. With a very colorful aesthetics. The game adds replayable arenas and captured outposts.

    As a big fan of Far Cry 5, I welcome this one, following the same overall formula: freedom of action in between story telling, with some polishness around crafting and replayability.    … Expand

    Из прямо заметных минусов могу выделить дебильные уровни врагов и оружия, нельзя больше взять ту пушку, которая тебе нравится ибо она скорее-всего будет 1-2 ранга и против 3-4 ранговых врагов будет наносить жутко мало урона.
    И ещё я уже играю пару дней, у меня ~18k этанола и я просто не понимаю куда его тратить! Может я что-то не понимаю, но зачем вводить такую валюту которая фармиться со всего подряд и которую некуда девать?    … Expand

    I'll start by saying I am a huge Facrcry fan and have loved most of the games since instincts. But this is objectively the worst game in the franchise. Personally I don't think it is that bad but it is definitely too overpriced for what you get.

    Positives:
    - This is the first direct sequel in the franchise which is handled fairly well. It is nice to see old character and how they have changed over 17 years. Finding out what happened to the protagonist and antagonist of Farcry 5 was fun.
    - The gun play just like Farcry 5 is rather satisfying and shooting enemies always feels great with a nice head shot sound.
    - Eden's Gate part in the story is fun and interesting to explore especially when coming across characters like the father.
    - performance, just like 5, is amazing compared to 4 which was poorly optimized

    Negatives:
    - THE **** TWINS, like seriously, this is how pathetic the Farcry villains have become? They are soo terribly written and barely have any screen time at all. We know little about there back story and they dont really do anything or have a reason for attacking prosperity in the first place apart from "OH WE'RE THE BAD GUYS WE'VE COME TO KILL AND STEAL LOL". There is some attempt at the end to make you feel any kind of emotion towards them but they simply are not fleshed out enough.
    - Content is another big problem, it may be a spin of with a lower price tag but there is still not enough in the game to justify even that price. The map is halved only featuring Holland Valley, half of the Hendbane and what is left of the white tail mountains just straight up doesn't count due to the lack of anything interesting there. I would say its fair to compare this to Primal. And just to show how little this game has, it took me 20 hours roughly to 100% primal whereas it took me 9 hours to 100% New Dawn. There are barely any side quests or places to explore outside of the main story.
    - Weapons for some reason can't be customized.
    - Missed opportunities are also a big saw spot for this game and perhaps my biggest problem with the game, a good amount of places cannot visited like faith's gate or St. Francis Veterans Center which is a huge bummer. What ever happened to the whitetails is not explained, some things from 5 such as the wreckage from he ending run just straight up aren't in the game at all.

    Overall FarCry New Dawn is an enjoyable experience for about 5 hours before becoming a pretty boring game. It was a decent idea but was executed very poorly in the end. If you are a big FarCry fan and enjoyed 5 you will most likely enjoy this and find a lot of fun in it, but if you a just a casual FarCry player you probably should avoid this game and just play 5 instead as it is a lot better than this. It's a fairly poor written game which has a pretty cardboard cast of characters which copies alot from Primal's story except the decent amount of content.    … Expand

Aqui você começa fraco, tendo de coletar muitos recursos e usar da estrategia para dominar os postos - joguei na dificuldade Hard. Uma das minhas maiores criticas ao Far Cry 5 foi sobre sua dificuldade, que além de ser facílima, não trazia a sensação de "Melhoria". Já aqui há nível para os inimigos e as armas.

    Os gráficos são lindíssimos, com um nível de detalhes enorme e uma paleta de cores, no minimo, apaixonável. Infelizmente o jogo não é lá otimizado, mas nada que te impeça de jogar.

    A historia é fraquíssima e assim como no primeiro jogo, tinha um enorme potencial. Os personagens são mortos, com motivações incompreensíveis; os diálogos são horrorosos e o senso de drama abordado no jogo é digno de risadas. Eu realmente queria saber quem leu e revisou esse roteiro.

    Quanto aos bugs, não presenciei nenhum. Houve um Crash que travou todo meu PC, mas vindo da Ubi, nem me surpreendi. E eu não poderia deixar de falar: as boss fight desse jogo são horríveis, pois não exigem habilidade/inteligencia do player. É só ficar dando tiro até descer a barra gigantesca de vida do "boss" - além de serem bem desinspiradas.

    Porém, apesar dos problemas acima, é um bom jogo, mas que fique claro que estou analisando-o como uma DLC, até porque usa o mesmo MapDesign do FC5    … Expand

    I bought this game only because I wanted to know what happened to Seed and the deputy. The game was extremely fun, I loved the new game elements, the expeditions, and the level grinding too.
    The only problem with this game is that it's too short, the main story can be completed in about 10 hours.

    Had a blast with New Dawn; I was pleasantly surprised with the quality-of-life improvements to the gameplay and the UI. The voice acting was great, and the world looks phenomenal.

    very very good mechanics, fast gameplay

    i finished this game twice

    the world and its secrets were really impressive it was so nice to find their notes in different parts of the map and remember from far cry 5.

    the story sucks, I write by keeping it apart :)

    I know everyone hate this game, but it's one of the bests games i've ever played. 18 years later after Far Cry 5 in New Dawn looks gorgeous.

In the end, it's the better Far Cry 5, with more beautiful and colorful graphics, great HDR effects, and less story- and mission overloaded. So it's only half a Far Cry in terms of mapsize and design, missions, weapons and story depth, but I personally enjoy itAs always, you have to get into the game and get over the mental hurdle of it beeing an ordinary Far Cry without much innovation. In the end, it's the better Far Cry 5, with more beautiful and colorful graphics, great HDR effects, and less story- and mission overloaded. So it's only half a Far Cry in terms of mapsize and design, missions, weapons and story depth, but I personally enjoy it more than the main game FC5, just because it is NOT so cluttered.

    Btw: Game works fluffy on a GTX 1080 and 1440p with FPS arround 70-80.    … Expand

    A revamped (and shorter) map of Far Cry 5 after the FC5 events. Well, I had the curiosity to try it out and being a fan of post-ap games, I really liked it.
    The plot didn't make any sense but this game was supposed to be a DLC from FC5 so I was prepared for a very short story and just little things to do. In the end I was pretty satisfied.

    This is a non-memorable great shooter with a lot of freedom coming from it's open world roots, with annoying characters, out-of-place pink colors and about 20 hours of gameplay.

    Boring game with boring characters, lack of innovative environment and very bad dialogs. Looks like developers do not understand proper story telling. Visuals are really laughable for post-apocaliptic world. Most NPC are below average and talk nonsense. There is no deep character development so you cannot connect with it. And this is the biggest problem... you feel nothing. This game is garbage.

    How is this a separate game? Looks more like a DLC to FC5. The plot is dumb, there was a potential for the plot to be way more enjoyable. In this game you basically farm resources to get a tier 3 gun to be able to kill at least something (I doubt that anyone has ever tried to craft tier 4).

    What did i like?
    Nature looks good. Very nice vegetation in an oversaturated cartoon-ish hue. Hiding while ambushing camps works well. It is very intuitive to sneak and hide around obstacles and i never thought the AI was able to look through things that would logically obstruct sight (bushes, trees etc.)

    What did i not like?
    The story is horrible. The antagonists are utmost idiots, the friendly NPCs .. to call them one dimensional is a compliment - the only friendly NPC i could stand was either the dog - or the pig.

    Dialogue almost hurts - the strange "go-to-Ubi-Soft"- substance induced spirit journey (that seems to happen in all Far Cry for some reason) is boring (and feels more like the writers had no single creative thought at all..)

    As many Ubi-Soft open world games (Far Cry, Ghost Reckon etc. ) .. this one, too .. suffers GREATLY from the freedom, the violence and the story. So you are send out ... and quickly massacre hundreds if not thousands of enemies, you single handedly take out fortresses and blow up HUGE bases - but for some reason you cannot deal with the 2 weak main antagonists that run their mouths.

    Another problem that this game runs into is similar to Fallout 4. It feels small. The playable map is very, very compressed. It feels like they tried to put a HUGE world into a 20 square kilometer map .. and it feels like it. In Ghost Reckon Wildlands there is at least a hint of distance ... in New Dawn, the world is not just over populated, but over crowded.

    Why do i compare it to Ghost Reckon Wildlands so much? Because it is practically the same game with a different skin.

    Is it fun? Well, yes .. but progression is too easy, AI is too dumb and it offers zero challenge. I have played it on hardest difficulty and i am really bad at shooting games. Yet, i found even no-detection-take overs to be way too easy and enemies offering NO challenge whatsoever.    … Expand

    Overall im pretty satisfied with the game for the price i got it at (Just above €15). They added a bunch of new concepts that helps keep the game fresh, compared to previous titles. They went for a more arcade-ish style. For instance, the opponents have a displayed Health Bar aswell as a level indicator (1, 2, 3 or Elite). It also shows the damage you do, and whether you crit (headshotsOverall im pretty satisfied with the game for the price i got it at (Just above €15). They added a bunch of new concepts that helps keep the game fresh, compared to previous titles. They went for a more arcade-ish style. For instance, the opponents have a displayed Health Bar aswell as a level indicator (1, 2, 3 or Elite). It also shows the damage you do, and whether you crit (headshots mostly) or not. They also added a few new weapon types, such as the Saw Launcher. I personally found it pretty entertaining to play around with the Elite version of the gun, as it has a Homing-in and Boomerang mode. The other weapons also has Post Apocalyptic themes (Cans as silencers etc.), which is a nice little detail.
    Another thing they added is expeditions, basically extra missions irrelevant to the main story, that can yield you a lot of resources. And they take place at other locations than the campaign map, which is really nice for a change.
    The game has two things though that bugged me throughout the game. For one, the system they use at outposts and expeditions. You're forced to play it against level 1 enemies to unlock level 2, then beat that to play it vs. level 3/elite enemies. It makes the game repetitive, and when you run around with endgame gear, it feels like a waste of time to do level 1 and 2.
    Secondly, the way helmets work are kinda dumb imo. It is basicly impossible to one-shot an enemy with a helmet in the head (As your first shot just removes their helmet), unless you use penetrating ammo. However, provided that your weapon deals enough damage, you can easily one-shot them in the Torso-area. So basically, you're getting punished for doing headshots, and rewarded for Torso-shots. It should also be mentioned that it's not just heavy units who wear helmets, it's a very large portion of the opponents, atleast amongst the higher levels.
    Overall, a fine, good looking game with approximately 15 hours of play time. Obviously, i understand that people who paid the €45 for this on Steam are disappointed. But honestly, paying that much without doing any research is entirely their own fault, kinda sad it has to ruin the score of a decent game.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After finishing Far Cry 5 I thought it would be cool to play this because it is a continuation to the story from Far Cry 5. This is nothing like Far Cry 5. Enemies are bullet sponges even on "explorer" difficulty, animals like bears and buffalo will completely exhaust your ammunition with their boss like hitpoints. Reminds me quite a bit of The Division games.. Two out of three enemies is wearing a helmet that takes like 6 headshots from a powerful weapon to knock off and expose them to a headshot. "Scavenging" outposts and doing them over after capturing them is the lamest game mechanic I've ever seen. The map is much smaller than Far Cry 5. Everything is pink and it wears on the eyes if your monitor has vibrant colors. Characters and story are terribly boring. Weapons are a pale shadow of what they were in FC5. I paid $10 and I wish I could get my money back. Giving it a 1 out of 10 because the dog jumps in the passenger seat of the vehicle you're driving in this and it didn't in FC5, that's the only pleasant surprise I found in this hot mess.… Expand

    Why the hell would they put a health bar on the enemies heads like those stupid loot shooters?That's not what we want from a FC game! I thought this is suppose to be a sequels of FC5, but they have changed the gameplay so much that it doesn't feel like a FC game at all. Now I feel like I am shooting with toy guns.

    * I enjoy the post-apocalyptic atmosphere with regard to having to craft guns out of pieces / scraps of material, the re-rendering of the guns with these features was a good design decision.
    * New combat feature where you can pick up a dead heavy enemy's shield if you're using a one-handed weapon. This is a cool addition.
    * I actually like the "elite" enemies that have special gear, abilities, etc. I am just not a fan of the RPG system with different levels, making certain enemies "bullet sponges" at early levels as it is completely unrealistic and immersion-breaking.
    * Glad they put purchasable maps into the game (not referring to microtransactions; actual in-game currency used) so you could find all the locations, etc. again. That was another blunder from FC5 that they fixed.
    * Expedition missions - main design is good and enjoyable, BUT (see cons)
    * Much prettier water - it was more enjoyable to fish / swim and look for things under water in this game versus FC5 - reminded me of FC3.
    * They removed the "forced story progression" aspect that was in FC5 which was immersion-breaking and just an awful idea, so glad to see it gone in this game. You can progress at your own pace as far as the primary story.
    Cons:
    * Awful performance in Windows 10 - game ran good in Windows 7 for me, but in Windows 10 it just stutters all over the place in Win10 - apparently it's a very common issue for people along with Far Cry 5. Typical Ubisoft.
    * Mute protagonist - this is an immersion killer. Just like in FC5.
    * This game is Far Cry 5 DLC - IMO it's basically a "we're sorry FC5 sucked" DLC aimed at trying to correct the abysmal ending of FC5 that pi$$ed tons of people off.
    * Continuing on the above bullet - this is a DLC, it's not big enough to be a stand-alone game worth $40. Should have been free for FC5 Season Pass holders, and about $20-25 for non Season Pass holders.
    * DRM - VMProtect + Denuvo.
    * This is the first FC game that has an RPG / leveling system for the enemies (levels 1 - 3, higher being harder to kill) - it's absolutely awful and immersion breaking / unrealistic as it creates “bullet sponge” enemies.
    * Repetitive random events such as a couple guys having a hostage at a specific location – it should happen once and that’s it.
    * Too many roaming random people that can screwup your outpost liberation attempts when you’re going for stealth.
    * Knifethrow takedown is broken - I just took a guy down, and initiated the knifethrow takedown and my dude threw a bat (that came out of nowhere) at an enemy that only took down about 30% of his health so it alerted the whole base to my presence...lol, Ubisoft. Come on guys.
    * Ubisoft needs to come up with some new guns - not saying all the old ones need to go as some are still very relevant, but there just needs to be more variety. Sniper Rifles need a 3rd scope – and I’d suggest they add in a realistic element with sniping at that kind of extreme range to take wind / distance into effect to ensure long range sniping isn’t overpowered, but still do-able for those of us who would like to give it a try.
    * No body armor in the game - apparently the enemies have all of the armor on the planet. :-/
    * There is now a feature when doing the outposts where there are (3) levels to the outposts - in order to complete them and get all the resources needed, you have to do them (3) times – tedious. Same with Expeditions.
    * Lack of weapon customizability - the weapons are basically pre-built, so you can't customize them the way you want.
    * For how pretty the water was, it was very underutilized. Think how well locations and treasure were utilized in FC3 - missed opportunity here.
    * I miss the syringes from FC 3 & 4 that gave neat boosts.
    * The "Chain Takedown" is a bit flaky - it would not reliably engage properly
    * Story - while the story is "better" than FC5, that's not really saying much as FC5 honestly sucked. The main story is very short (like I said earlier - it's DLC, not a full size game), and the ending, while better than FC5, was still silly - minor s poilers - the part where Ethan eats the "special fruit" and gains super strength is just silly - they need to get away from those types of mystical junk in their storytelling.

    Overall: 4/10 – FC4 is still king by a lot    … Expand

    Can't sneak up and kill early game enemies because you need to unlock level 2 stealth kills etc etc

    This game ruins everything good about the series.

    All to sell pay to win MICROTRANSATIONS

    Will not be buying the next Far Cry game if it pulls this BS on the consumer

If you are keen to play your typical Far Cry game with the usual gameplay feel treated with the Assassin's Creed Origins-ey RPG touch up, go ahead and take a dip at Far Cry New Dawn.

    New Dawn was clearly rushed and designed to compel the player to buy shortcuts with real money. The missions were designed to take a long time to travel or complete, without any means of transport nearby. The negative reviews are right. Ubisoft designed the game strictly to last as long as possible.

    Now, the game isn't absolutely unplayable, since the story is decent and is an epilogue to the events in FC5, but I still don't recommend it for anyone. The final boss battle will make you want to strangle the developers. The entire game is just an excruciating experience. Save yourself the time and money and don't play this game.

    If you absolutely must play, do these to make your experience less painful: Scavenge Outposts to Level 2 as soon as possible, do all the Expeditions, and upgrade your Workshop to Elite and craft Elite weapons. If you do these, the game will be much more relaxing to play.    … Expand

Its the most beautiful far cry out there and it fits perfectly into the mix. I dont really get why people are complaining about some pink colors ... like srsly, do you guys want to live in your bland, grey, green, brown gaming world?

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. in **** Same **** you play as Captain America after he accidentally presses the nuclear launch button after the events on Fat Cry® 5 Redneck's Revenge. in this game, you fight against bad guys called Highfiveman lead by two twin sisters Mickey Mouse and Lou. but you can't do this alone (actually you can if you unlock weaponized chopper in-game) you need the help of your friends and your friends need you because they are too weak and has no proper training of using a machine gun. with your pal Thanos Rush B, you can fight against those hooligans! and then they kill your pal in 3 hours of the game and all the job of rebuilding this gay-ass community is up to you again. you capture holocaust camps, save the specialist so you can upgrade your base to progress trough game, free war prisoners and the same **** activities from other Ubi**** games. you find Joseph Kony who also known as your lost father who go-to store for the new version of bible form papa john's 30 years ago and then get drunk started a cult in Montana's unknown county. he gives you the power of alcohol and belt so you can stop those highfiveman throwing stones to your base every night. his adopted son Ethan Bradberry betrays his stepfather and gives Mickey Mouse and Lou a chance to attack the town of stoners. when you eventually defeat twins with the power of "Wrath and Drugs".Mickey dies and... wait was it Lou or her sister? well, whatever they are most forgettable villains after the Dull from Far From Civilization® 4.2 Cave Guys.     If I wanted to play the Division with an anal donate, then I would buy a division and not Far Cry.
    Do not buy games with a built-in store, especially when the store was developed first, and the game was built around it.

    I usually write long and comprehensive reviews. But I'll keep this one short. Not because New Dawn is an awful game, no; it is as decent as one would expect. It's just that there's nothing about this game that you haven't read, seen or heard in a Far Cry 5 review.
    Map is the same. Story is the same. Weaponry is almost the same (with very few exceptions). It's as if the whole game is a re-skin of previous Far Cry games. And I am not just talking about a Far Cry 5 re-skin.
    If this was a mod for Far Cry 5 and was created by the community, it would've been a very good one. But as a AAA game with a price of 40$ I find it hard to recognize something unique or praiseworthy about it.
    - Gameplay is the same. A standard issue Ubisoft collectathon; an open-world checklist pursuit that has its fun moments, but hasn't improved in a long time.
    - Story for some reason is even more simplified than any other Far Cry games that I can recall. And references to FC5 and its character is just out of utilizing that sense of 'familiarity' not out of relevance.
    And the ending ... without spoiling it ... is just a disappointing whimper.

    * What possessed me to play this game?

    Confession time. I knew what I was getting into. And in fact, I do like to randomly run around in a big map and try to land headshots while engaging in accidental conflicts. I've been doing that since Far Cry 2.
    However, at this point I am just doing it out of curiosity. I am trying to pinpoint the moment when Ubisoft finally realize that Far Cry's gameplay requires serious improvements.
    There is nothing realistic about a Far Cry game, yet the the gun-play remains very clunky since Far Cry 2; as if they've been trying to simulate real life shooting mechanics.
    Going into sniper scope takes too long and the same goes for coming out of it. Walking during the 'aimed down sight' phase is terribly slow, and as per usual you can not change your scoping mouse-sensitivity. The list goes on.
    If Ubisoft had listened to the feedback of the community or at least consulted some E-sport level FPS players, they could've improved the gun-play of Far Cry games significantly. That way at least roaming around would've been fun. But sadly, the gun-play has stayed almost the same since FC2.
    I guess that explains how other aspects of Far Cry games haven't changed in time either.
    From story to quests to stealth to combat ... the composition has more or less stayed the same. It's as if they believe they've found a 'magic formula' and that can garner success by repeating it over and over.
    I just hope the Far Cry series doesn't go the way of the 'Telltale' games.

    * Summary:

    I liked this game and disliked it at the same time. I liked the graphics, It's good, but slightly worse than in a previous game. I really liked the whole line of quests with , especially in those moments when the protagonist fell into "euphoria", since it was visually beautiful.
    But everything else was bad. Something more, something less.

    "Arrows": Outposts and other Ubisoft things that rules such game-play(I understand why gamers complain on that, this thing goes from game to game. but I like to conquer those outposts, so for me it wasn't a big problem). Small visual glitches and crawling out of the textures by NPCs. And almost all music is normal average Far Cry music, but when it's come to conquer the outpost or another enemy structure - "Awful acid rave". This is not a music, but a tasteless cacophony of electric sounds with girlish voice from some digital hell.
    "Fire Arrows": No weapon customization(You cannot change anything in the weapon itself, only crafting of a new one of higher level from resources. And any weapon of any enemy level will be the most mediocre, so after opening a level 2 weapon, picking up a trophy weapon is absolutely pointless). Skills in the form of a simple grid, without any visual form. And art of them are waste of skill points(like reloading while aiming, yeah, a very important ability). I don't like that Ubisoft changed ammo amount from crafting to skill level, it's not interesting. You have hunting only for crafting(Metal resources for animal skin, what?). Pink post-apocalypse(It's not very bad, bud differently not suits for game's theme... glamour apocalyptic raiders).
    "Explosive arrows": Enemy and item levels are overly foolish(rocket launcher LVL 1 didn't even scratch animal LVL 3, WTF?). The protagonist is a faceless puppet(I'm already wildly tired of this idiotic pattern of giving the player such a character and making him listen to monologues throughout the game. Very emotional, one-sided monologues with hints that the protagonist seems to be answering something. Mentally, I guess). And at last the most heavy mistake on my opinion:
    THE ENEMY AGAIN CONSTANTLY CATCHES AND LETS GO THE PLAYER(Seriously? Far Cry 3, 4, 5, ND - Every time the same sh*t: They catch him - tell some flat jokes - let him go. Why-y-y-y-y?). And another banal cliché about a sad story from the past of the Antagonists, which should squeeze tears and sighs from the players. Who even decided this should work? First, these rabid sisters terrorize the valley, kill, destroy, blow up everything... and then you have to sympathize them? Seriously? Smells like hundreds of third-rate movies with villains like this.
    ...I understand perfectly why this game is criticized by so many, it deserves it in almost everything. But if it were just a DLC, and not a full-fledged stand-alone game at full price, I think the evaluation and criticism would be more lenient.     This is my 3rd Far Cry experience and so I'm quite satisfied with it. The game is cheaper than it's other parts since it's a spin-off and not a Far Cry 6 game.
    However, the gameplay, graphics, and plot were so great! It was simply awesome and interesting + saddening to see Hope County after the Nuclear end of the world.

    The game was good and I had a blast. I played it in normal difficulty and have to admit that even that felt like easy difficulty for me after reaching a certain part in the game. I might switch it up to the hardcore difficulty.

    There's not a lot of game time in this spin-off, seeing as there are only 22 Story missions and only 8 side missions. But the new systems they implemented on outposts and enemies are quite cool and I've already grown fond of them hoping they make a return in the next installment.
    The game was so much fun that I played it 3 days in a row without touching my other games AT ALL.

    There are microtransactions in the game, but they are quite useless since you can grind everything AND it doesn't even take that long. ''Prestige'' is the status for some weapons and vehicles which makes them buyable with the new currency, but they are completely buyable with in-game resources and thus grinding.

    The weapons were creative and they had a fun descriptions of them. I loved the neon color scheme the game had (Rage 2 and Fallout 76 also have a neon color focus, but those games are well known to have sucked)

    Buy it and support Ubisoft since they made a fun experience once again and a lovely destroyed Hope County map for us to explore yet again!    … Expand

    First off, to get through the story, it will take you about 6-8 Hours. This is something i would have expected from an FPS shooter like CoD or Battlefield, not from something like a Far Cry game. This alone feels like it isn't worth the price of the game. When you complete the story, you can still play the game, but at that point, the content is kinda lacking.     Очень порадовала обстановка вокруг все довольно красиво и наполнено жизнью.

    Сюжет тут получился в принципе таким же как и в остальных частях ибо Far Cry, вот тебе антагонист иди разберись с ним, ничего нового. Все осталось по большей части без изменения, но какие же они мерзотные эти две сестры, я не разу в серии Far Cry не получал столько наслаждения от их убийства антагонистов, скажу более мне обычно антагонисты нравились в серии Far Cry тут же все иначе, я прям ждал что бы прикончить их, они так сильно раздражали насколько это только возможно — поведением, логикой, действиями, да всем, выпендриваться настолько много насколько это только возможно «все наше».

    В заключение скажу, что данная часть или аддон, не суть важна, можно назвать неплохой. Даже не знаю что так поливают ее грязью. Ибо со своей основной задачей как стрелялкой она справилась на ура. Из всего вышесказанного ставлю 7 баллов, так как игрой я насладился с полна, давно я не наслаждался серией Far Cry в полной мере как этой.    … Expand

    I treated this game as an expansion for Far cry 5 with a twist (and bought it priced as such). That is exactly what i got and more. Personally I thought it was a massive improvement over FC5, if only there was more of it.

    Saw launcher is AWESOME!!!. Our friend dog is very good and cute. The songs played in the vehicles are very high quality. The variety of weapons is beautiful. BUT SAME as other Far Cry games. The atmosphere is not post-apocalyptic. Animations are very bad. The mission structure is ordinary. f*ck MICRO PAYMENTS in Far Cry. AS A RESULT, this is not a new game. this is a dlc for far cry 5.

Wingsuit/parachute mechanics are stupid and teamates barely ever revive you even if they're right next to you. Sometimes enemies don't die when you shoot them even headshot them. You'll get stuck on/in objects and die. AND SPOILERS AHEAD DONT READ IF U DONT WANT IT :

    the end game bosses just don't die from normal shots. They're heads are just made out of metal i guess, they can kill you fine tho. In fact they can shoot though objects and end you in 3 shots or less. But you shoot them a million times to only get them to half hp. Nice (this was on hardest difficulty btw)    … Expand

The main antagonists, the Twins, are not exactly bad for this game, I mean, you will definitely hate them, only maybe for slightly different reasons than what the developers had in mind. The graphics is unchanged since Far Cry 5, still nice though. The music is drastically different though, offering you some hip-hop (really not my thing) and some good old 50s/60s songs (much better). The game features some microtransactions and contains some SJW.

    Utterly dull expansion on the far cry 5 story
    Honestly I loved far cry 5 despite the story ending, yes the ending really annoyed me! Honestly I couldn't wait to give up and uninstall this game. With no weapon customization and very dull weapons the grind of the game offers little to no reward for sticking it out in my eyes.     New Dawn is the last episode of Ubisoft's popular series FarCry, it starts 17 years past where its last episode (FarCry 5) ended.

    it seems that after what happened with joseph something like an apocalypse occurred and people were forced to live underground but after 17 years as the game begins people start to come back to the surface of the earth. at the beginning of the game, you    New Dawn is the last episode of Ubisoft's popular series FarCry, it starts 17 years past where its last episode (FarCry 5) ended.

    it seems that after what happened with joseph something like an apocalypse occurred and people were forced to live underground but after 17 years as the game begins people start to come back to the surface of the earth.

    at the beginning of the game, you get to choose your character between both genders, and then you can customize whatever you have chosen but I must say that the number of clothes and outfits which you can use is so limited even with Ubisoft club and even if you have unlocked all available clothes they are still a very small range of them and you can't really customize your character.

    the character itself like the past farcry episodes it not so touchable and you don't get to know him/her well and the story is more about the unplayable characters.

    as you know the most important thing about the FarCry series is its villains and its villains are why this series is popular.

    but unfortunately, after FarCry 4, the villains weren't as good as they used to be, FarCry 5 at first made a great villain out of joseph but the awful ending of the game just destroyed all they had made.

    but in this game, the twins turn out to bee really good Villians although we don't get to see much from them, but when we do they are just great they are complete Villians but as I said we don't get to see much from them and story is so short and everything happens so fast while it could be so much longer and the game could show us a lot more and it would make the game so much better.

    a good thing about the game is the notes around its world if you have player FarCry 4 I suggest you open and read as much as letters as possible they have made a great connection between the games.

    Sound and Graphics:
    the game's graphics have improved a lot from "primal" and it even a little better than the Farcry 5 but it still can improve a lot more

    i experienced the game on ultra high, the shadows were great the environment was a lot better than the previous episodes but it still could be a lot better.

    the game had some locations (like the prison, the fighting arena, and the derby arena) that made it special from the other games and the gameplay in those locations was a lot better and it was more enjoyable.

    the game soundtracks were actually great, and it made the missions so more enjoyable and even a little stressful, Ubisoft had done a great job in choosing the right soundtracks it has made the gameplay a lot better.

    characters :
    as I've said before you don't get to know the character you're playing and the story is based on the unplayable characters.

    the story of Carmina is so great and it is perfectly connected to the FarCry 5 although we could know her a lot better, even her mother Kim and the most important thing that I think Ubisoft left behind was the story of nick (Carmina's father and the plain owner in the FarCry 5), I think the game would be a lot better and a lot more emotional if we get to see more of nick

    i said it before but I think I should say it again in cause to put stress on it, the twins are better than the previous episodes Villians but FarCry 4 and 3 Villians are still a lot favorably and I think if we get to see more from twins and the main story wasn't so short "the twins" could be one the best Villians of Farcry series.    … Expand

    Open world in New Dawn exists for one single purpose: to let player engage next group of enemies on his own terms. Hopefully, in next game Ubisoft will finally get rid of RPG elements (mainly, bizarre multi-tiered guns) and go back to the formula of first Far Cry. [Issue#236, p.54]

    Only full-time members of Joseph Seed's cult hooked on bliss will enjoy playing Far Cry: New Dawn from start to finish. The others will eventually get tired of psychedelic palette and recycled content.

    Far Cry New Dawn is a ridiculously well-polished and fun to play action game (AI issues aside), with an enjoyable if largely mundane story and villains. It's so hard to negatively criticise too much. It would be unfair to judge this individual game against the wider approach of Ubisoft that some could argue needs to evolve more going into the future. The freedom that this sandbox gives to just shoot things and have fun is clear to see, and on PC the world looks incredible, filled with vivid colours, rich explosions, lush grassland and shimmering blue rivers. The real question following this conclusion to the Hope County arc and all its DLC is where Ubisoft will go next with this franchise. Ultimately it is impossible to separate New Dawn from feeling like an expensive DLC for its predecessor.
