Far Cry: New Dawn is just a reskin of Far Cry 5 with smaller map, shorter story and less customization. Its a quick cash grab.

If you are a fan of the franchise and really liked the 5th entry then I think you should play this entry. It provides a good epilogue for some characters from the 5th game and the gameplay has some light rpg elements that can turn some people off but honestly I think they're done well.

If you enjoyed Far Cry 5, you will most likely enjoy this too. It nicely rounds off the story from Far Cry 5. Expeditions and capturing outposts at higher levels can certainly be challenging.

The main issue with this game is the length. Whilst advertised as a full new game, it feels somewhere between a full game and a DLC. As a fairly casual gamer, I did not expect to complete the storyline in a single weekend.

The question of value for money has to be asked here. If you're a fan of the series and of Far Cry 5 in particular, you will probably enjoy playing this, though I would consider waiting for the price to drop.

Good God, fall out 4, metro Exodus, piles of sht all of them. I truly believe I could complete this game in a couple of hours, it's not really that bad either, I love the Far Cry series but it just feels so rushed, pointless, a step back in every way. And please do not have women as the antagonist, it simply doesn't work.

Can be fun if ignoring a lot of it's flaws. Very low value for price point. Breakdown below:

Pros: - Good graphics and well optimised. Will run well even on lower end rigs with some settings toned down. - Can be fun if you treat it as a run and gun. As long as you don't take it seriously it can be good fun. - Devs fixed some issue present in FC5 like the excess of enemy presence

    Cons:
    - Story and Characters written by an autistic five year old (Seriously, its Age Rated 17+, the uncalled goofiness of some characters belongs to Pepa Pig, it kills immersion)
    - Price. It's not a full-game and should have been the official DLC for the FC5 season pass. Only picked it up because I missed out on the Metro Pre-Order
    - AI & World. You can roadhouse kill kick frozen animal flocks around the map. Enemy AI behaves like they are both drunk and blind. The game teaches you to exploit broken AI code and not fight like you're supposed to.

Feel a bit disappointed but I also didn't pay full price. The game generally feels like a large DLC for Far Cry 5. The main story is short, much shorter than previous far cry's and as I'm also going through AC: Odyssey I was just expecting another 10 hours of gameplay or something.

I'm not too fussed about the overall accuracy of what the post apocalypse was supposed to look like so soon after but I was able to get through the game on "tough" mode (which is the middle option, so don't mistake that for anything other than normal mode) in 11 hours. That's also with clearing all outposts at least once and doing a bunch of expeditions. I was easiy able to upgrade my base to the max level with a bunch of high level stuff.

You also get a shotgun if you've completed far cry 5 (at least on UPlay anyway) which is OP as **** when you unlock rank 2 weapons (again, you can do this quite early on).

But the game works, it runs well there are no broken mission lines, no animation bugs or anything game breaking. The bright ambiance use gives a nice effect. If there's one thing that Far Cry is known for now it's the protagonists and Vaas has always been a tough job to follow. I'd give the twins a 6.5/10.

Wait for the sale or if you know then you know :)

I doubt most of the people posting here have even played the game. Looks like it's getting review bombed for no reason. I think it's fun, it looks really good, and the new weapons can be a blast to use. That said, it is repetitive, like most Far Cry games, but if you don't mind that, I think you're going to have fun.

Nice add-on to Far Cry 5 that extends and concludes the story of what happened after the main events - in case you didn't go for the "Only You" ending that is ;)

Storytelling is pretty good in this one without the forced interventions that were criticized in FC5. I don't think they could have done much more with it without it getting tedious. The typical FC5 grind content is there

The typical FC5 grind content is there anyway - only thing missing: Clutch Nixon challenges.

I've played some 11h to get to the ending with quite some grindy stuff in between - which is required though for the weapon upgrades.

Regarding some concerns that I had myself:
    - It feels like a mix of a really good add-on and a sequel, hence the pricing which is justified in my opinion.
    - The map is completely reworked, not just recycled
    - It's not just pink or comic style, it actually looks like Annihilation (Natalie Portman movie), especially due to the deer. First scene I was like: This looks exactly like Annihilation
    - Story was way better than expected

    Some cons:
    - at times it feels unpolished, especially in regards to AI (they keep complaining about almost dying without there being any enemy in sight)
    - Friendly AI will try to run in front of your car every time you approach from afar. Damn insurance scammers
    - Boss fights were a real nuissance.
    - Identity of The Judge is not revealed (though it's somewhat clear who he is due to how Joseph describes hin) - not even really a con, it's fine - I just wanted to be certain

So, what's there to do in FC5:
Years after the bombs fell, people came out of their shelters, built up something, then came the highwaymen and destroyed everything.
They asked you and your fellas for help, you came, they attacked you - everything goes to crap - you have to rebuild.

In between you have to rescue people, upgrade your base, retake/scavenge outposts,
clear out looting sites, do cache runs and new to it are expeditions.
Expeditions are instanced outposts where you need to go in, steal a package, get out. You'll need those for the advanced crafting material stuff.

Expeditions, as well as outposts can be redone with the next time always being harder.

There isn't much point in fishing/hunting this time around as crafting doesn't require those items for the most part.

All in all - if you liked FC5 - you will want to get your hands on this. Maybe wait for a sale if you feel like it's too expensive but if you are interested in the whole Joseph Seed storyline, you want to get this at some point.

This is a basic Far Cry game, just like Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 4. It's shorter, which is why it's cheaper. Driving is still a pain because the only view is first person from the driver's seat - Ubisoft apparently is steadfast in their devotion to that, which is a shame since "Far Cry" is essentially GTA: Generic Wilderness. Also added is the RPG-like enemy leveling mechanic, such that you must upgrade your weapons to effectively dispatch higher ranking enemies. I didn't really mind this too much. The graphics are like Far Cry 5, but they're a lot more colorful because of the secondary effects of the nuclear fallout.

My biggest grip with the game is that it really should've just been a part of Far Cry 5, which I thought was woefully short in duration. The way they setup the story progression in FC5 lent itself to unintentionally forcing the story along at a rather remarkable pace. For example, blowing up an enemy truck would earn you "resistance points" (or something to that effect), and once you'd accumulated enough, you'd be cutscene hijacked into a boss battle. It took but a small number of "resistance points" to get thrust into a "boss battle," and blowing up enemy convoys was a natural consequence of getting from point A to point B, so before you knew it, the game was over. So they dispensed with this mechanic in Far Cry: New Dawn, which was great - I can now kill as many people as I want and not fear accelerating the game's progress before I'm satisfied that I've sufficiently ambled about the map. But I'm torqued that I had to pay money for what really should've been included in the first game. What Ubisoft did here would be the equivalent of Rockstar Games charging $40.00 for the Epilogue to RDR2.

This is not a $40 game, it is a $15 DLC the size of a large mod and cannot even be considered a proper expansion pack when it re-usues 90% of the FC5 assets. It claims to be post-apocalyptic, but aside from looking like it was raped by a unicorn, the only meaningful example of the setting are the invisibile walls of radiation to keep you from exploring. The story is as forgettable as FC5's, and the crafting (RPG elements) require too much grind to be of much use. The attempt to appear woke also detracts, however by the time that is evident, you will have likely given up caring. Finally, the lazy new game mechanic of slapping extra-light armor onto enemies in the pretense of them becoming a damage sponge is featured in New Dawn. This becomes a true grind when outposts are re-taken by enemies, forcing you to do it all over again and again. With each iteration however they add in more BMX (bike armor) clad enemies for the ultimate in grindy bullet sponge enemies, which only the most unique player will find enjoyable. The rest of us find such artifical difficulty to be immersion breaking, and that just encourages us to play another game. Such as Metro: Exodus, or even FC3/4. Expand

    В New Dawn мы имеем:

I almost deleted the game already at the start, as you don't select gender, you select 'Body Type' now in Ubi games

The weapon system with it's old post-apocalyptic 'road warrior' look could've been great, if one were able to modify them instead of crafting a pre-made 'custom' weapon.
A real immersion killer for Co-Op and people who like to actually customize their arsenal to fit the character they make to fill the gap of a 'real' protagonist.

The game-world itself actually looks quite good, but they still use the same 300 meters+ and things randomly respawn.

I can't give it less then a 5, as ..well, killing is fun in the game. Nor can I give it more then a 7 since they dropped the ball so many times, where they could've made it almost a masterpiece.

it's Ok in it's current state, no more no less

The grind is real in this latest instalment. Redoing outposts for resources often felt tedious and unnecessary, even though it added new outfits in its wake.

The villains, Mickey and Lou and the offspring of a familiar face, were great, but could have been so much better with more development. Due to little screen time, you don't really get the feeling these characters were given a broad canvas, and are thoroughly eclipsed by the likes of Vaas in Far Cry 3.

What I did like were the insane weapons offered, and the descriptions to go along with them. There are plenty of modifications possible and a lot of them add to the experience. I had a good laugh at the multicolored flamethrower and variousthemes, and dressing up your character in the Blood Dragon theme was a nice touch.

That being said, the campaigns start to feel repetitive. It's about time Far Cry pulls a fat Assassin's Creed: Origins and starts to figure out where it's headed. These are not bad games, and anyone rating this below a 5 seems unreasonable, but it's about time Ubi starts taking these warnings seriously and should start to rethink the current formula.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Most of the game is fun, if you like just to do some **** you'll have plenty in Far Cry New Dawn.
However the game's not balanced at all. The first 70% of the main mission is a walk trough the park, even with the toughest difficulty settings, the last 3-4 mission tough are hard as hell, even in the easiest difficulty.
What I dont like too is that an ego shooter should award accuracy, if you however hit a headshot on a guy with a helmet with the best gun in the game it does'nt do any damage at all, just knocks the helmet of and the whole base is on alert. If you however hit a chest shot he's killed instantly.
And if you ever come across an elite soldier, you'd better run, cause you would'nt have enough ammo.

It was just stupid and WAAAAY unrealistic. Therefore I gave it 7/10 because the ending should always be well made. Otherwise the game is an 8/10 in general for a Far Cry lover.

My only complaint is that Ubisoft still does not allow you to drive with a third person view which is very irritating and stupid. How hard is it to give that option darn you Ubisoft.

Edited this in: THEY TRY TO SELL YOU MICROTRANSACTIONS lol otherwise you have to grind your ass off to get nice things. Is this a Free-to-Play? Oh wait $40... Ubisoft's greed came through in this one real bad.

Visually, New Dawn has the same glorious fidelity and lush environments as Far Cry 5. This should be expected, because they just painted over the map with orchid on the brush. I think the pink theme is much needed in a post-apocalypse (beige was getting really old). I was impressed enough to make a visual showcase video for Youtube.

The gameplay is a step back from Far Cry 5. Far Cry 5 kept the "humans are actually normal vulnerable humans" philosophy. In New Dawn, you can encounter higher difficulty enemies that are not defeatable if your weapons are not at a high enough level. I stumbled across enemies several times that ate multiple 30-round mags of assault rifle ammo and I had to run away. Not cool. The combat is more arcade-like (think Borderlands), which I do not prefer at all. It's a spin-off game so whatever there I guess. Same goes for the wildlife. Much more arcadey, with glowing weak-points on the animals' bodies - cheesy.
The currency system is fine. You craft ammo instead of buying it. Common scrap replaces money in this game, basically. Weapons are tiered to match the enemy difficulty they are most effective against.

The characters are mostly uninteresting. You can find some favorites, like Hurk, if you Google up where to go. Ubi tied this new pink world into the ending of Far Cry 5 appropriately. Those parts are interesting enough.

The new antagonists are not nearly as interesting as Far Cry 5's and don't even come close to someone like Vaas. Not much to say about them. They do bad things and are annoying to listen to during cutscenes. Their personalities do not have any depth and they exhibit no charisma.

The story pacing is the weakest point of the entire game. There are essentially "busy tasks" in between the lackluster main story missions, just like every bad RPG ever made. It's obviously just fluff to make a small game seem larger and more worthy of a $40 suggested retail price.

About halfway through the game, I lost the urge to finish it. This was especially jarring, seeing as the previous games in the series kept me glued until I finished them. I guess the lesson for me is to stick the main titles and never go off on the spin-offs. The terrible part of this one was that they portrayed it as a direct sequel. It's not. Maybe worth $10 on a Steam sale if you're a hardcore fan of the series.

i liked it, mostly for how smooth it runs. no bugs and super high fps. bad guys don't matter just like the bad guys in the last game. bad guys are lame and not menacing or entertaining at all.

I really liked FCND as a mindless shooter with style, just like the other FCs. Playing with different guns, using stealth or all-out assault, teaming up with different companions. Growing, upgrading stuff, getting better and more powerful guns. Not worth the full price at launch, but definitely worth the 15 bucks I paid years later.
Unfortunately, there is also a lot not to like, here.

Unfortunately, there is also a lot not to like, here. The scenery is too fuchsia, courtesy of the mutant flowers spawning everywhere. Driving cars is a chore, given that your eyes are positioned on a level with the cockpit, preventing you from seeing where you are going – just use 3rd person vehicles, it’s much better. Fire is annoying, as is fishing. Certain weapons are great, other are kind of pointless.
Most of all, I hated most story missions. I know it’s a FC trademark, but I’m sick&tired of being stripped of all weapons and having to perform some highly unlikely escape sequence. The game forces certain idiotic decisions on you, putting you at the mercy of your enemies again and again.
The final confrontation with the main antagonists gives new meaning to the term “bullet sponge”. Tank-resistant enemies with super-powered weapons (a flame thrower on steroids – of course the enemy is fireproof). You are forced to fight blind, while enemies can see perfectly well through the smoke. Many enemies help out the main opponents, but most of all, what I really hated the most, is a infinite sequence of guard dogs attacking you every few seconds, preventing you from landing the hundreds of hits you need to take the sponge down.
I don’t like games that are too easy, and FCND is ok on the difficult setting. This battle, on the other hand, did not make me feel powerful but rather just a chump, like a fly fighting King Kong. Not impossibly difficult, mind me, nowhere near souls boss-difficult, but still very annoying.
All in all, the game is ok. I had fun taking and retaking the various outposts and unlocking weapons and equipment. After all, it’s what every FC does; in this case, the map is smaller and the story less refined, but still worth a go, at a reduced price.

This game could have been really good. But it relies even more on the *** UBISOFT GRIND FORMULA ***. Because it doesn't generate real content with stories on its own.

This could have been a type of Fallout, but it does nothing in that direction, just empty on the story line, except a bit about mickey and lou. And without spoilering, there are incredibly stupid plot decisions which

    Pro:
    - Nice to revisit the Area after the Bombs
    - Nicely done story

    Cons:
    - Grinding, Grinding and more Grinding
    - Story too short
    - to much useless stuff side missions, which offer nothing interesting

I'll start by saying I am a huge Facrcry fan and have loved most of the games since instincts. But this is objectively the worst game in the franchise. Personally I don't think it is that bad but it is definitely too overpriced for what you get.

Positives: - This is the first direct sequel in the franchise which is handled fairly well. It is nice to see old character and how they have

    Positives:
    - This is the first direct sequel in the franchise which is handled fairly well. It is nice to see old character and how they have changed over 17 years. Finding out what happened to the protagonist and antagonist of Farcry 5 was fun.
    - The gun play just like Farcry 5 is rather satisfying and shooting enemies always feels great with a nice head shot sound.
    - Eden's Gate part in the story is fun and interesting to explore especially when coming across characters like the father.
    - performance, just like 5, is amazing compared to 4 which was poorly optimized

    Negatives:
    - THE **** TWINS, like seriously, this is how pathetic the Farcry villains have become? They are soo terribly written and barely have any screen time at all. We know little about there back story and they dont really do anything or have a reason for attacking prosperity in the first place apart from "OH WE'RE THE BAD GUYS WE'VE COME TO KILL AND STEAL LOL". There is some attempt at the end to make you feel any kind of emotion towards them but they simply are not fleshed out enough.
    - Content is another big problem, it may be a spin of with a lower price tag but there is still not enough in the game to justify even that price. The map is halved only featuring Holland Valley, half of the Hendbane and what is left of the white tail mountains just straight up doesn't count due to the lack of anything interesting there. I would say its fair to compare this to Primal. And just to show how little this game has, it took me 20 hours roughly to 100% primal whereas it took me 9 hours to 100% New Dawn. There are barely any side quests or places to explore outside of the main story.
    - Weapons for some reason can't be customized.
    - Missed opportunities are also a big saw spot for this game and perhaps my biggest problem with the game, a good amount of places cannot visited like faith's gate or St. Francis Veterans Center which is a huge bummer. What ever happened to the whitetails is not explained, some things from 5 such as the wreckage from he ending run just straight up aren't in the game at all.

Overall FarCry New Dawn is an enjoyable experience for about 5 hours before becoming a pretty boring game. It was a decent idea but was executed very poorly in the end. If you are a big FarCry fan and enjoyed 5 you will most likely enjoy this and find a lot of fun in it, but if you a just a casual FarCry player you probably should avoid this game and just play 5 instead as it is a lot better than this. It's a fairly poor written game which has a pretty cardboard cast of characters which copies alot from Primal's story except the decent amount of content.

Open world in New Dawn exists for one single purpose: to let player engage next group of enemies on his own terms. Hopefully, in next game Ubisoft will finally get rid of RPG elements (mainly, bizarre multi-tiered guns) and go back to the formula of first Far Cry. [Issue#236, p.54]

Only full-time members of Joseph Seed's cult hooked on bliss will enjoy playing Far Cry: New Dawn from start to finish. The others will eventually get tired of psychedelic palette and recycled content.

Far Cry New Dawn is a ridiculously well-polished and fun to play action game (AI issues aside), with an enjoyable if largely mundane story and villains. It's so hard to negatively criticise too much. It would be unfair to judge this individual game against the wider approach of Ubisoft that some could argue needs to evolve more going into the future. The freedom that this sandbox gives to just shoot things and have fun is clear to see, and on PC the world looks incredible, filled with vivid colours, rich explosions, lush grassland and shimmering blue rivers. The real question following this conclusion to the Hope County arc and all its DLC is where Ubisoft will go next with this franchise. Ultimately it is impossible to separate New Dawn from feeling like an expensive DLC for its predecessor.
