    After playing FC2 for a couple of days I searched for other gamers opinions on a game which I was still in denial about. The first 5 minutes gave me a giddy rush of excitement as your character is driven through the war-torn country and all you can do is admire your surroundings...from here it all goes downhill! After previously buying all my games on my PC, I know how frustrating a console port can be but in this case it's not that it's a bad port but put simply, it's just a terrible game.… Expand

    This game gets a 3 for graphics the intro and advertising....THATS IT! This game is worse then Super Mario Bros. 3. It's GTA 2 rehashed with better graphics except you only get Jeeps and Pintos as your vehicles of choice. The weapons are fun for a while but blow up in your hands while you are killing your thousandth mercenary. The quests suck and are completely unimaginative. Add to this the fact that only the main story missions are interestiing (every side quest is the same one of 3-4)
    The current fast travel system takes the game from unplayable to irritating. Which is why Far Cry 2 was one of the biggest disappointments of the year.    … Expand

To UBI: PC gamers don't want dumbed down, repetitive simpletons. This "game" has no story, no logic, advertised civil war doesn't exist in game (and you're the most hated person in Africa for no apparent reason). Dumbed This is the most overrated game of the year.     My 4 outof 10 is for visual only, People that say this game is good either have not played it or like driving for to long and shooting check points. The aiming system is shit the ai is useless its a first person shooter not lets wander around look at the sights shoot someone the come back past and they are back what a waste of money and time.

    HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Missions are boring and repetitve. The personal gun storage is stupid (pick a gun off its rack on the wall and another magically appears in its place). The whole game is unrealistic, the AI is mediocre, every single person you see instantly goes berserk trying to kill you, everything is NOT destructible (only about half the trees are, and there are still some smallish HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Missions are boring and repetitve. The personal gun storage is stupid (pick a gun off its rack on the wall and another magically appears in its place). The whole game is unrealistic, the AI is mediocre, every single person you see instantly goes berserk trying to kill you, everything is NOT destructible (only about half the trees are, and there are still some smallish trees that will bring a fast moving jeep to a sudden stop). Open world was a horrible choice, and the main plot is retarded. The only thing this game is good for is for a quick 30 minutes of stress relief consisting of driving around running people over, which by far is the most efficient way to kill (and fortunately these African rebels are somehow all equipped with military jeeps with unlimited ammo for the mounted gun). The fire is neato at first, but it burns out too quickly - they just didn't go far enough with this game. I don't know why they called it Far Cry -- it has nothing whatsoever to do with the original, which, despite corny plot and voice acting, was a masterpiece compared to this piece of s***. Also, I think it was a huge mistake to go for the M rating on this game - it appeals to the 10-12 yo demographic. My 12 year old brother loved it! If you are looking for an open world game with great AI, try STALKER or STALKER Clear Sky (be sure to quick-save, because you don't have a "buddy" to wipe your @$$ in STALKER). Wait til FarCry2 goes on sale for $10 before you waste your money. It's funny how the average user score is like 50% versus the metascore of 86 -- obviously a sign that for-pay video game critics are too afraid to offend a sponsor/advertiser to give an honest review.… Expand

    Graphics are great, but the African setting is far too brown for those of use who absolutely loved the beauty of the tropics in the original Far Cry and Crysis. The controls of a PC don't translate well to a game that requires you to drive vehicles for the majority of the game.     Crap, annoying AI, digging bullets out of your leg when there are a dozen people around you, milaria when there are a dozen people around you, wild animals running into the road when your trying to get away from the enemy, the crap the enemy talk, when you snipe one they all hide, you cannot then pick them off at a distance so wheres the shotgun when you need it, shoot a guy with a Crap, annoying AI, digging bullets out of your leg when there are a dozen people around you, milaria when there are a dozen people around you, wild animals running into the road when your trying to get away from the enemy, the crap the enemy talk, when you snipe one they all hide, you cannot then pick them off at a distance so wheres the shotgun when you need it, shoot a guy with a shotgun point blank and he just looks at you, people standing still when you are clearly in their sights, annoying hand movements when you are about to set of a bomb, dying when jumping into water from about ten feet up from water. would have liked a torch, maybe i havent got that far yet, but i like to have a scope and close range weapon, i never use a pistol, the map is utter crap, when i used the xbox 360 controller game still telling me which keyboard keys to press, some annoying pop up, same terrible repeating tune, sounds like something out of oblivion and during the night scenes it feels like im playing oblivion, day looks like crysis, i loved far cry and crysis, trying to like this but it drives me mad, just too annoying, running about trying to find suitcases with a single diamond, how lame, guys who can see you in the bushes at night from over 500 yards away, i chased one guy around for about three minutes, i dont think the character knew i was behind him. i'll leave the rest till some other time, if this even gets printed, i was using the pc version, maybe like oblivion, farcry 2 was optimised for consoles and not pc computers.… Expand

Expected great things based on professional reviews and while the visuals can be stunning at times, game play is unimaginative and repititive not a patch of Crysis or Call of Duty 4. The poor AI makes the gaming experience feel 5 years old. Strange how gushing the professional critics where about the game. Must have been some launch party!! :-0 Very disappointing and very overrated game. The high scoring of this game is a shame and I hope more and more gamers take note of which magazines can be trusted to give a fair review and which are obviously in the pocket of the massive, unregulated gaming industry.     Boring. Repetitive. Overrated. Fun for the first 20 mins, until you realise youll be criss crossing the map in a crappy jeep for the next 50 hours (if you bother to play it longer than an hour). As overhyped as Assassins Creed.

    Really boring. The field of view also make it very unappealing. I was so looking forward to this. Bought it on release day, installed it, played for 15 mins and haven't felt a need to play again. I was initially dissappointed in Crysis, but compared to this its way better. Not so sure if the critics were playing the same game version i have cos they are really over-hyping this game.     First, let me say I have not played Far Cry (the original) but I have played Crysis & Crysis Warhead. I will admit that a comparison between the Far Cry series and Crysis is not a legitimate comparison since Crysis is by far a much more detailed and different strategy type game. You can liken this game to the whole sand box type games like GTA series. There are main quests to complete but First, let me say I have not played Far Cry (the original) but I have played Crysis & Crysis Warhead. I will admit that a comparison between the Far Cry series and Crysis is not a legitimate comparison since Crysis is by far a much more detailed and different strategy type game. You can liken this game to the whole sand box type games like GTA series. There are main quests to complete but many side quests to gain extra money, better weapons, vehicles, etc. That being said, this game is an overwhelming disappointment. For all the hype about choosing your method of approach or attack, it amounts to nothing. So what if you can burn anything and an explosion will attract enemies to one location, it doesn't matter when you are fighting the same respawned enemies hundreds of times because you are crossing the same guard post area to get to a different part of the map. Graphics for environments look really good but that doesn't make a game. I have never been one to really care about a storyline and good thing too because this one is horrible. As for kills, I am playing at the next to highest difficulty and the only gun I find worth it to kill enemies is the sniper rifle. The autmoatics are worthless since it requires one full clip per enemy (although there are many to choose from). Enemy AI is variable. Some have marksman type shooting when they fire at you with a SMG from across the map but you couldn't do the same if you tried. AI in others is almost nonexistent as I have had enemies literally run up beside me and look around for me while I just turn and empty a bullet into their head point blank. There is no explanation of what upgrades do, what new weapons offer, or why I should buy a damn vehicle manual when I can still repair the shot up cars myself! The point, save your money, this is a boringly repetitive game that I find myself playing to pass the time until L4D comes out. You can save $50 and just spend it on L4D instead.… Expand

The map is huge, and you get shot every 5 seconds... then you have to repair your car... it's almost the only thing you have to do.     I cannot understand why so many notable sources give Far Cry 2 such decent reviews. Do these people have such horribly low standards or equipment that this game seems good? This is probably the case. People that are used to sub-standard performance and quality, review games, and do not take into consideration the variables that encompass PC core components. I own above average parts including an EVGA 9800 GX2 SSC graphics card. I also happen to be born right before the PC gaming industry began, therefore I can say with a decent amount of accuracy that Far Cry 2 is a below average game with what some would say is above average graphics. I can't wait to see the Zero Punctuation review, it may be the only realistic one.… Expand

The general Far Cry community are up in arms over how they've been duped into spending their hard earned cash by the false advertising of the game . Enemies respawning , sickness that prevents you from exploring the so called ' vast 50km environment ' which is basically UBI's way of of covering up a huge misrepresentation regarding the freedom of the FC2 world . Repetitive gameplay , no straife ability whilst sprinting , DRM issues , bugs , and what happened to a destructive environment ? Graphics are boring at best , and cheap at worst , and every good thing that was in FC 1 has been removed , and replaced with nothing . Basically a console game that has been sold to PC gamers with lies and false promises . Multiplayer is a joke , from not being able to join servers that have started a match , to stupid tags above every player .... even the enemy . WTF ? At least Okidoki can have a holiday now . Sorry for sounding negative , but this game is simply appalling . Just read the UBI forums to see how disgruntled the community are , and you'll see I'm telling the truth .     This game struggles to be the new top of the line free roaming shooter. The problem is: The free world is dead. Very few animals, no civilians, and the predominant color is brown. Most of the time you are killing fast respawning enemies, and follow boring and repeating missions to gain access to better weapons. Also negative are the loooong travels.For every 2min of action, you have to rtravel 10min. Every checkpoint is filled with enemies who respawn after 2min. At first, you can circumvent those checkpoints, but in Act 2 you can't anymore, because the area is packed with them. All in all, FC2 is just a open map, with some respawning points, no real story, and no life in it self. Boring boring boring!… Expand

I'm a huge fan of both the original FarCry for PC, as well as the Xbox version. The two original games differ greatly, but each stands on its own for different reasons. Needless to say I

Stupid ennemies that can take awful damage and respawn in a matter of seconds, unrealistic weapons (snipe rifles without any bullet dispersion or gravity effect). Missions the game forces on you without any relation to the story: why in the hell do I have to do mission for Great graphics, but that is about it! Never felt bored so rapidly in a FPS.     Dumbed down and drab, Far Cry 2 plays like a shallow console port, there's nothing to grip or immerse the player, the whole thing boils down to a bunch of pointless shootouts with some really stupid AI and some driving through bland unremarkable terrain. Half the game's budget must have gone on paying reviewers to lie.

Anyway, the gameplay is terrible. As a FPS game player, I want to get in, get my kicks and get out. I want to get right into the action. This game prevents that kind of visceral action at every turn. You'll be keeling over from malaria and be respawning back at your hut every 10 minutes. When not passing out from malaria, you'll be driving and driving through jungles. It gets tired after about the 10th time you've done that. As for its shooter merits... it's way way off. The guns just don't quite feel right; the people you're shooting at seem obliquely misaligned in your field of view, so you always feel like you're leaning over while you shoot or something... it's just some sort of bad depth perception that is part of the PC version. It's too bad. I had such high hopes for this game. The original Far Cry is 10x better. This doesn't come near Crysis or CoD4... nowhere near. If these games are 9's then this game is a dismal 1 or 2. My wife got it for me for my birthday and I told her that it was the worst game I've ever played. She said to sell it on Ebay and I think I might. And I am really not over-dramatizing this.     The last time I took a game back to the shop for a refund was 1990 when I had a damaged 3.5" floppy! I'm really tempted to put this in the bin! What a load of rubbish. Probably the most over hyped game of the century and does a dis-service to the mammoth of a game that preceeded it i.e. Far Cry. I'm really tempted to put this in the bin! What a load of rubbish. Probably the most over hyped game of the century and does a dis-service to the mammoth of a game that preceeded it i.e. Far Cry. What Crytek achieved with both Far Cry and Crysis is light years ahead of this rubbish. Boring beyond belief even the map editor doesn't lessen the pain of the purchase as it looks like you can't make a single player mission, only a multiplayer. Really, this looks like the developers fudged everything, from the appauling dialogue to the repetition. Where is the wow factor? I think they left it at home!… Expand

Lots of grumbles about this in the Ubisoft forum. Multiplayer has no game browser, no dedicated servers, and I've been disconnected multiple times and lost the unlocked weapons I've achieved.     I'll give you the awesome graphics, but what game isn't doing that today? The spreading of the fire was pretty cool as well. Other than that; this is one of the worst games I've played in awhile. If I could return it to get my money back I would. You need a better storyline with more involved side quests. The enemy AI was horrible. Don't even begin to compare this game with Crysis, I rated Crysis 6 for being an intense shooter, amazing graphics, and some form of storyline. This game fails to deliver any of that, which is already the new low for how games should be rated. Jees, last time I completed an fps without having to think "oh god I have to finish it or I'll feel like I've wasted my money" was probably Bioshock and Half life 2 (and not the extended rip off ones). What's happening with the fps game developers these days... If you have to choose between Fallout3, FarCry2 and Stalker:ClearSky, whatever you choose, stay as far away from this piece of moneymaking junk as possible.… Expand

    Disappointed ! 2 for the graphics but otherwise the game is really boring, stupid missions go from A to B (B is always on the other side of the map), you just kill again and again the same guys, you destroy again and again the same enemy cars on the way. Frankly speaking nothing to compare with Far Cry. No doubt that reviewer in magazines have been bribed.

    What can i say except..... BORING! scenery looks nice, but graphically, apart from the fire (which is probably the best looking thing in the game) no better than Crysis or COD4. They are definitely not as immersive as Crysis for example. I'd even go as far as to say Far Cry 1 felt more tropical then Far Cry 2 feels african. Everything looks brown, its' hard to make out where one thing begins and the other ends. Moving around in the game feels like you're drunk, on drugs and have several vital limbs missing. The moral? Don't but a shooter unless it's coming from id, valve or perhaps crytek. The rest don't have a clue how to make a good shooter.… Expand

We already have something realistic it's called "Real Life" The enemies drops dead when you shoot them but then they come back up later which is really annoying. A short list of some of them: - mouse sens/accel mess - fov problems - oversized consolish menus - crippled controls - no leaning, no proning, no burst/single fire changing - among other things - no sound settings - barely any destructible environment - "big 50km2 world" made into a maze of between-cliffs corridors you could render a cave top instead of the sky, and call it FarCry: Descent Into Undermountain - AI leaving a lot to be desired (on "infamous" level at least) - /absolutely/ everybody hates you ! friendlies ? neutral villages ? maybe with some tasks to do ? forget it ... - everything respawns ! damn quickly at that, so you better be quick while doing missions, if you don't want enemies you just killed shooting at your ass - handholding (average console Joe can't feel lost after all) - weapon carrying capacity limited to 1 per class (instead of weight or some generic cap) - so forget about bringing assault and sniper at the same time - unified ammo per class (DX:IW anyone ?) - once you buy something, unlimited amounts for free await for you ! yay (for console Joe at least) ! - world doesn't change - whatever you do, how many missions you did, for whom - everything remains exactly the same + ridiculous DRM on top of everything That's by no means a complete list. Check out UBI forums for locked threads (mods started big damage control recently). Sorry, but this game is an overhyped (by "major" offline / online magazines) ripoff. And sadly adheres to a "standard" PC games have become over last years. And you know what the most sad and ironic part is ? - omg, Far Cry 2 didn't sell as we expected, it's all pirates' fault ! - but ... we delivered subaverage, overhyped, poor console excuse of a game - isn't that the main issue ? - sacrilege ! It's all because of those filthy thieves I tell you ! Next time we implement DRM requiring fingerprints and retina scans - that will show them ! - ...     FC2 gameplay sucks. This is a technical showcase, perhaps a demonstration of games to come. But this game don't play. BORING AI, gunfights that don't make sense, point a belt fed at a characters chest and have him come at you, venture off the linear story map and get malaria and die. I would have much preferred a FC 1 Mod, waste of $50.00, I wish I had read the reviews first.

Running long distances becomes so boring you want to stop playing. I kept telling myself it would get better but it was just more of the same. Crashes are rare normally, and if you had an issue with them, consult the Steam support team. Also, if it took 2 hours to download, that's your problem only.     Onto a review :)
    Far Cry 2 is a complicated game. Hard to get the most out of, but if you do, you're in for a treat. The gameplay is essentially like that of any other FPS, but tweaked towards realism.
    The immersive aspect is executed brilliantly, except for the very few graphical glitches to be seen about 2 - 4 times in a play through. Most of the time though, it's something that you see and think "Oh, that's wierd. Oh, wait. It's gone."
    Graphically, the game is impeccable. The environment interacts with all of the tiny little models and everything you can see. Trees blow realistically in the wind, and fires will soon see them nothing short of a black stump with branches.
    Vehicles are nicely implemented. Helping you get from A to B with minimal effort. Just watch out for guard posts. While most people complain about the guard posts, I like them. I'm a fan of tactical gameplay. Which is something you'll have to learn to be able to properly enjoy FC2. Anyone used to running and gunning may want to stick to playing online.
    The scope of the world is amazing. Every little detail is beautifully rendered thanks to the technical mastery behind the Dunia engine. Anyone that doesn't like this game is probably just not a fan of the style of play. The game itself is impeccable. If you're a fan of tactical gamplay, mixed with realism and immersion, buy it. If you're looking for just another shooter, go back to CoD4.
    I'm giving it an 8/10.
    It'd get a 10 if it had Co-op. :(

For example; different buttons for getting in then getting out of a vehicle. No lean, no prone, no weapon options (can't change to single fire mode for EX).     not a far cry game. i dont think any game in the far cry series will ever have that same place as farcry.
    but as for a game, its not too bad. it looks georgeous, sound georgeous and plays well.

The story is dull and virtually non-existant. The characters are all one-dimensional and the voice acting is atrocious; all characters talk extremely fast and sound emotionless.

Definitely impressed, and while it doesn't quite look as amazing as Crysis, it's still pretty good. Think COD4 quality, or a notch above. Of course, COD4 didn't portray 50 square miles of terrain.

    I was kinda disappointed by the weapon selection, just judging by the upgrade menu. Hopefully more guns'll get added to the list throughout the campaign, otherwise the selection isn't very impressive at all.

    Another thing I noticed is that to use the weapon sights, you have to hold down the right mouse button, it doesn't work as a toggle like in other games. A little miffed by that at first, but you do get used to it. Not a gamebreaker.

    Does anyone else feel the mouse sensitivity for the game menus is way too low? Just a minor nitpick of mine.

    So far, it seems pretty easy, and I'm playing it on Hardcore. Maybe this is why they didn't feel a prone position was necessary? A bullet will take from 10-15% of my health. Hardly a Tom Clancy feel, so don't expect that. Infamous is another notch above, so you'll maybe want to try that for a bigger challenge. *shrug*

    I've already talked about the weapon selection, but here's a bit more detail. There's 4 weapon slots, one for your machete, one for a primary weapon, one for a secondary weapon, and one for a special weapon. A primary weapon counts as shotguns, rifles, sniper rifles, and a grenade launcher. A secondary weapon counts as pistols, or machine pistols. A special weapon would be a machine gun, rocket launcher, or flame thrower. This seems alright, but is actually quite problematic with its restrictions. Because of the slots, no sane player will ever use a shotgun, since it counts as a primary and thus would take over the slot for rifles or sniper rifles, which are far more useful on the wide open African savannah. This is in contrast with Crysis, in which the best combo was often a sniper rifle coupled with a shotgun. In FC2, this combo is impossible, and thus the grenade launcher and shotguns must be neglected, which is a shame. Speaking of the lack of variety compared to a Rainbow Six game, there're only 3 shotguns, 3 assault rifles, a submachine gun, a grenade launcher, and 3 sniper rifles to choose from for the primary slot.

    Another annoyance is the fact that throughout the landscape are various checkpoints manned by enemies. Clearing these checkpoints are pretty easy, but the problem is that they are quickly remanned as soon as you leave the area. With all the various traveling you must do in the game, it quickly becomes tedious reclearing the same checkpoints over and over again.

    So far, I've been having fun sniping everything in sight. Though many tempting sniping spots are unfortunately out of reach due to the terrain being too steep to climb.

    Oh yea... I did notice something really cool while playing earlier today. I'd sniped some guy in the chest but it wasn't a fatal shot so he staggered and fell down. A little later he got up to a crouch and a second enemy ran over and gave him a piggyback ride. No, I'm not kidding. Just thought that was pretty damn awesome.    … Expand

Enemies will also respawn literally minutes after you clear them out from a base, making it feel like a pest-control business rather than an actual conflict. So in short, Far Cry 2 has a lot of potential and succeeds in some areas, but it's just too repetitive and lacking in story to really prove its worth in the long run; wait for a Steam sale before buying it.… Expand

    This would have got much higher marks from me if 2 things would have been changed: 1. the most annoying thing i found was having to jump out of the car every 20 seconds to kill a random vehicle or take out a checkpoint. 2. not having to do the friend mission every time to get the bonus.

The single player was pretty fun when I started. The story was compelling enough for me to get interested in the antagonist and the main character (yourself) but once you got out of that first "zone" it all got worse. I thought that the survival-aspect seemed cool in trailers. But that was because I expected that the main character would have to collect eatable plants, hunt animals etc in order to survive. But nope. That's all part of some weird and huge unlock-system. You can make a backpack out of 2 X meat from animal Y. That animal is marked on your minimap so there's no way that you can miss it. The same goes for all the plants. Just look at your minimap and all you need to do is go there. It's an open world but since EVERYTHING is marked on the map it feels as if everything is already explored. You already know where everything is so there's close to no exploring. Sure, you can climb up a radiotower and the hotspots will become even more apparent to you (they actually show you how the place looks from an angle, instead of just the marked spot).

    And if that wasnt enough the AI is beyond stupid. You can throw rocks to distract the AI, you've got an infinite amount of rocks and you can do it a billion times. Each time the AI goes "WHAT WAS THAT?!", each time just as surprised as the previous time you did it. Their reactiontimes also seem to be really slow. They aim at you and after about 5 seconds they start shooting. I guess this is some setting that would help console-players to kill their enemies fast enough but on a PC it's incredibly easy to get the kill before they actually start shooting.

    Eventually the story just spins into a cliché and I totally lost interest. Stopped playing after about two hours of playtime. I doubt I will play it again. The co-op was repetative and easy (on the hardest difficulty). The co-op is not like single player. You're on a rail on one specific "mission" at a time. It's not even a story, you go get a bomb, place it and then you go to spot X. Mission complete and you go back to the lobby. All in all a really crappy game. It gets 2 because the voiceacting was better than average.    … Expand

Every once in a while, you'll need something to keep yourself alive so you have to take a break from killing people, then it's back into the same old killing spree.     This version is a lot better than the 360 version modding made sure i didnt have to travel everywhere for pointless missions the graphics are very good on my rig the gameplay is very well done and i can mod out the annoyning things like malaria and gun jamming so the PC version is better because i can mod out all the annoyning elements

This game plays like your average first person shooter, using WASD to move, and the mouse to fire and all that stuff. One element in this game that is very unique to the gameplay (aside from combining the open world and shooter genres), is how realistic it all is. This game is literally the most realistic game I have ever played. This adds several good elements to the game, but it also adds a few bad ones. Healing is a good one. Along with this, being a character struck with malaria also adds a nice twist to make the game a little bit harder than your average shooter. However, one bad thing about this element of realism is that weapons have a tendency to jam. The more you use your weapon, the dirtier it gets, and the more likely it is to jam. When a weapon jams, you have a few precious seconds to unjam it before it explodes in your face and you have to replace it. Another problem with this game is how redundant it is. It is not Call of Duty levels redundant, however, it is redundant enough to get annoying. For example, there is so much back tracking to do in just about all of this game's missions, and this usually leads you to encounters at enemy bases you have already cleared. Redundancy and realism aside, the gameplay is still really good. As for the graphics, this game handles them well too. The graphics in this game are absolutely stunning. They are among the best graphics I've ever seen in a video game. All the textures in this game are very beautiful, and very detailed. The characters look good enough, but the setting is the most beautiful part. As a matter of fact, the setting is so well designed, that it may as well be the best part of the entire game. It is set in Africa, and it shows, through its amazing savannah, and its beautiful jungles. Even the cities and villages in this game look beautiful. The graphics in this game are so beautiful it's crazy. As for the story, it falls under the pretty good, but not great category. Basically, you are a mercenary sent to kill an arms dealer named the Jackal who has armed both sides of a conflict in an unknown African nation. The premise alone is very good, however, the character development in this game is pretty bad. None of the characters are well developed, and you never learn anything about them. The setting of this game somewhat makes up for this, however, there is one problem with it that I just can't get over: not enough African wildlife. There are only a few zebras and wildebeests here and there, and not much else. The story of this game is pretty good overall, but not as good as it could be. Overall, I'd say that this game is quite good. It is not the best game ever made or anything, however, it is still very good, and worth playing through. I recommend this game to anyone who just wants to play a shooter set in Africa. This game would suit them perfectly

    What ruins the very good atmosphere of this game for me is just that all you do is shoot people, then drive to another place on the other side of the map, get attacked by some outpost people only to shoot more people at the place you were headed! I DON'T CARE ABOUT GOOD GRAFICS IF THE GAMEPLAY IS JUST ANNOYING! I have no idea if the story is good, I didn't want to play it for long.

Start a fire and it will spread and burn your enemies. Or you can shoot an ammo box and hope that one of the random shooting bullets will hit your enemies. Or you can blow up the building they're in.

    Amazing game with really good graphics but a little confusing story. Had a glitch or two also on the last mission but I really enjoyed it on PC and then on Xbox360. I recommend it to anyone that likes Open World FPS.

    I guess this game is one of those "love them or hate them". I must say it is one of my totally favourite games ever. Everything from graphics to story really works for me, it allows different scenario gameplay styles, different approaches and if I dont want to, Im not bored for a second. Scale of weapons is quite large, theyre not adjustable in terms of different equipment for them, but that doesnt matter. Physics in this game are superb, I really do enjoy setting things on fire or throwing things up. for 2008 game, this is excellent, half of nowadays games dont have physics like this.
    The main point of this game are graphics and environment. I have to admit, the graphics and the map design here is quite excellent - the locations are superb, the changing of weather and environment (from desert to jungle-ish environment) is perfect and it is more a virtual holidays for me than a game.
    Of course there are few flaws, like static aim with sniper rifle - no breath movement, but its nothing compared to the feeling from this game.
    I played this game like 8 times at single player and still Im finding something new - definitely recommended to anyone with love for exceptional FPS experience.    … Expand

Why does the quicksave create a new save file every time? Why are there save stations like the bed and the box on the wall?     This game is my LOVE, it has an amazing climate: Africa, wild animals, wide steppes, malaria xD. This game is harder than new Far Cry games, 5, for example, you can fly around in a helicopter, in Far Cry 2 you didn't even have a HUD

    My favorite far cry game of all time its much better that other one like far cry 3 and 4 because in this game you dont have hand holding like other far cry games in far cry 2 you can actually do every thing you want.and ther is freedom if you want you can go do all missions in stealth mod or you can go all guns blazing kill every **** you want.

    Good visuals on the xbox360 - expected better with the way everyone was hyping it up. fire looks great. Bushes - thought would be way more detailed. Things get a bit grainy all around in general. AI - for the most part stupid. And glitchy at times. Respawning of enemies is sooooo annoying.     I thought that this was a good game but not great. It feels like Grand Theft Auto set in Africa from a first person point of view. You go to a marker on the map for sonbody to give you a mission then you steal a car or boat and go to another marker on the map to complete your mission (usally involves shooting lots of people).     I have to agree with many of the fellow reviewers; This game is a let-down; as evidenced by the cheap RRP of the game; at one point I even saw a brand new copy being sold for 15 pounds, despite it being a fairly new release at the time. It's already been said, the missions are repetitive and uninspired; the story is practically non-existent and some very basic controls are missing, such as the ability to prone. One aspect is done very well, and this is of course the visuals; they are second only to crysis (from the developers of the original Far Cry) in my opinion, and the fire-propagation system is simply unrivalled. But what seems to have been forgotten is that graphics do not make a game. It is a combination of all key aspects; story, gameplay, atmosphere, etc, and I feel that only the graphical aspect was truly fulfilled. I cannot say that the game is bad, but what could have been brilliant turned out to be mediocre. I believe the series should go back to basics; I think the game should be more story driven like its predecessor, yet retaining some of the freedom that Far Cry 2 brought to the series. I am still optimistic for a third Far Cry game, as I still believe the series can be revived and possibly even surpass the first game. For Far Cry 2 though, I would warn against purchasing it unless you can buy it for a cheap price, and are simply looking for another game to play before adding to your collection.… Expand

Yes, we have games like Mass Effect use the same repetitive thing, but it´s a rpg game, we have a lot of possibilities. I mostly like the spreading fire effect, puting field and trees on fire. some fishes and other underwater creatures could add some more to the atmosphere (we had them in FC1). the engine is great - moving and destroyable objects. I love the big open maps. they looks FarCry2 has nothing to do with FarCry1 :( They better gave it a totaly new name. the graphic and visual effects are great.     More importantly, it has nowhere near as many bugs as something like "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl," a title that bears many similarities. Add to the roughly 25 hour single-player campaign a remarkably easy-to-use map creation tool and a full multiplayer suite, and you've got one of the most complete overall gaming packages of the year, as well as one of the most ambitious.
