It is one of my favorite far cry 2 games. Without losing their fast pace, 2 men drive on you every 2 minutes, and they break your car, which you have meticulously repaired. They may come again while you fix it again.
That was the issue that pissed me off the most. And there are snipers that it took me 5 minutes to see. The game does not have such a great story. I played with pleasure up

That was the issue that pissed me off the most. And there are snipers that it took me 5 minutes to see. The game does not have such a great story. I played with pleasure up to 54%, but the lack of fast travel feature spoiled my mood a bit. They made a fast travel in the style of a bus stop, giving importance to realism, but the number of stops is very few. And also; 10 minutes to go to the task, 2 minutes to do the task. I think the missions were a bit lacking. I'll add a final addition and close my comment. There are really a lot of bugs in the game. It's not as cool as the game, on the contrary, it's funny. After we give the passports to the man we went to buy medicine, the man starts jumping and flying in the air. He gives the medicine to my hand as I go left and right.
There is no cutscene in the game, you have to do that scene. The character that gives the task does not start to speak before you move to the place where the codes put it. Dr. Gakumba starts shaking his head after giving me the mission.

Why don't people like this one? I think the dynamics of malaria are so cool where you have to keep using the drugs, that's very realistic! The game as a whole is realistic and also what has more Details among all FAR CRY'S. Going beyond Far Cry's island theme, this time it is about the African region.

It is worth saying that there are many innovations in the game compared to the 1st game. Many more positive innovations such as rusting and not working of the weapon, jamming, self-healing animations after being hit, hit feeling, weapon variety have been brought. If we talk about the cons of the game, it constantly repeats itself and does not give much space to cutscenes. Also, the Finale wasn't that satisfying.

In terms of gameplay, Far Cry is still the same. Whether you play stealth or skirmish, the choice is yours.

In summary, the story about the African theme and these civil wars is worth giving a shot.

My only recommendation for this game is two things:
    1. download a graphics enhancing mod. The game has an awful brown filter over it. You can
    find these mods on modDB.
    2. Play the game with your brain on. This is a very mature game, that covers mature themes
incredible well. There isn't a level where you burn down a weed plantation while ****
skrillex plays, instantly dating the game and ruining any immersion I had. The plot is similar
at first, it will appear bear bones, but you need to think about it yourself. The game doesn't
hold your hand as you go down a roller-coaster ride. The game is subtle (if you have seen
the film Apocalypse now you will know what I mean).

This is one of those games that won me over. I've played this game from when it was new on the PS3 to later on the PC, to much more recently on a better PC. Its one of those games that will immerse you like no other if you push yourself and the game. Hardest difficulty is something that changes the way you play.

I hated it when I first played it. Now I see it as something truly special.

I love this game. The gun jamming I consider a fresh mechanic in the shooter genre. A shame this was never done by anyone after this game. The game takes place in a war-torn African nation, and the environment reminds you of this all the time. I like the HUD being extremely minimal. Only downside is all enemies respawn over and over again, which makes traversing the world annoying.

    - Options. Yes, missions are all similar (not to mention the never-ending checkpoints), but you are mostly free to tackle them the way you want. SInce it's not script-based, no event ever plays in the same way: you could try to tackle a mission ten times, and it would develop differently every time.
    - Combat options. The above it's true for combat as well: you have many weapons to choose from, but you have to compromise (due to its three-slots system). So you have to choose your combat style and choose the weapons accordingly, forcing you to adapt your combat style to the resources available. Save for trying a different weapons setup later, and invent a different approach. Almost limitless combinations.

I won't go into the negatives here, because they have already been discussed a lot.

I just add that, despite the hours of fun I had (I think 60 hours of gameplay), this game left me with a sense of sadness in the end. Maybe it was because the final part is mostly linear (and after all the previous freedom it feels oppressive); maybe because it felt like all my previous efforts - in the end - amounted to nothing. I don't know.
I mostly had a blast playing it (with the occasional frustration), but it left me with this tinge of sadness - so I don't know if I want to play it again (like I thought I would, while playing it).

Anyway it was a hell of a ride, and I'm truly grateful for this experience :-)

Since it is open-world, you can choose how to approach most situations, where to attack from and so on. There are weapons for a stealthy approach and for a loud one. But even with all this freedom it doesn't empower the player like most shooters nowadays. Far Cry 2 seems more like a semi-survival game. Every outpost has soldiers who will attack on sight, you have malaria that you need to treat, the guns degrade and break. It creates this feeling of constant uneasiness and pressure.

Ironically, the console version is harder because it has no quicksaves. I advise you to play it without quicksaving, rather using only savehouses to save the progress. It's risky since you can get killed and lose 10, 20, even 30 minutes of progress but it feels much more rewarding when you complete a mission and get to the precious savebox in the savehouse. I don't really remember any fps game having such an interesting and hostile atmosphere and it does feel unique.

The AI is a little silly but that was made to allow stealth, that's why enemies can have a hard time noticing the player when they are right in front of them. I've played this game 3 times gradually increasing the difficulty and i have to say that the hardest difficulty is THE Far Cry 2 experience. it takes a lot of time, it's very punishing but it's also very rewarding.

Great game, the developers tried to go in a little bit of a different direction both story- and gameplay-wise but unfortunately the general public doesn't like when games don't hold their hand all the time so you see this game being bombarded by negative reviews. What's the most puzzling about their points of view is that they criticize the AI in Far Cry 2 but praise FC1 which has literally an even worse enemy AI and an awful second half of the game where you fight brain dead monsters.

    -------------Story spoilers start-------------------------------------------------------

Story in FC2 is not a very traditional one, it tries to show the conflict as a way for evil people to manipulate the folk to make money off of war but it's very subtle and i think it's great and not in-your-face social commentary or something like that.

    ------------------Story spoilers end-----------------------------------------------

Overall a very underappreciated FPS and truly one of the last games that tried doing something unique without childish 'LOL RANDOM INSANE' characters like in its sequels.

Unlike Far Cry 3, not all the villagers are dumbass sheep, they know what's happening... although I'll agree sometimes the voice acting is too dull. This game has a great sequel and a greater sequel of a sequel, but they're all missing aspects that this game alone has adopted: partners to save you before you die on the battlefield, a world you can truly explore without limit, all missions are main missions which means you can truly choose what to do first and second. All parts of the map are enjoyable although not defined properly. overall 9/10 even for 2008. Expand

It has aged a lot better than FC1 [ though I loved fc1] it just has much more options and expansions as it was made years later. It has awesome graphics as Far Cry games always did that even most of todays consumer non-gaming computers probably could still run the game as I can run it with my laptop with a Radeon 2600 HD. It's meant for school and paperwork only so yeah.

Most of these reviews are just harsh and not really judging the game for it's time I mean yes in 2008 the AI of course will not be as sophisticated at 2016 get over yourselves. 60 bucks gets you games that don't even work on release day these days so 10 bucks for a great fully functioning game? Scale of weapons is quite large, theyre not adjustable in terms of different equipment for them, but that doesnt matter. Physics in this game are superb, I really do enjoy setting things on fire or throwing things up. for 2008 game, this is excellent, half of nowadays games dont have physics like this.
The main point of this game are graphics and environment. I have to admit, the graphics and the map design here is quite excellent - the locations are superb, the changing of weather and environment (from desert to jungle-ish environment) is perfect and it is more a virtual holidays for me than a game.
Of course there are few flaws, like static aim with sniper rifle - no breath movement, but its nothing compared to the feeling from this game.
I played this game like 8 times at single player and still Im finding something new - definitely recommended to anyone with love for exceptional FPS experience.

The environment is eerily barren with the exception of some wildebeest and about 6000 mercenaries. Fire mechanics are something special and the combination of a rapidly spreading fire and a gunfight with twenty mercs never gets old. Far Cry 2. This may upset some people, but I did not like Far Cry 1 all that much. It was okay, however, after I played the game Crysis, I felt like the original was nothing more than a tech demo version of that. This may upset some people, but I did not like Far Cry 1 all that much. This is not surprising as they were both made by the exact same developer. As for the sequel, it is actually more of a brand new game than a real sequel. It is this way because it has a completely different setting, and has nothing to do with the events of Far Cry 1. This should go without saying that you do not need to play Far Cry 1 before you play Far Cry 2. So does this open world shooter bring more wows than its predecessor, or was the new setting crappy and dull enough to make this game suck? Let's find out. This game's gameplay is absolutely spectacular. It is a truly open world first person shooter with few enclosed environments, and very few loading screens. As stated, this game is open world. You get to do what you want, and not even care about the story of this game. The open world is done very well. There are many missions you can undertake outside of the main story, and there are many more things to do. The first person shooter elements are handled quite well too. This game plays like your average first person shooter, using WASD to move, and the mouse to fire and all that stuff. One element in this game that is very unique to the gameplay (aside from combining the open world and shooter genres), is how realistic it all is. This game is literally the most realistic game I have ever played. This adds several good elements to the game, but it also adds a few bad ones. Healing is a good one. Along with this, being a character struck with malaria also adds a nice twist to make the game a little bit harder than your average shooter. However, one bad thing about this element of realism is that weapons have a tendency to jam. The more you use your weapon, the dirtier it gets, and the more likely it is to jam. When a weapon jams, you have a few precious seconds to unjam it before it explodes in your face and you have to replace it. Another problem with this game is how redundant it is. It is not Call of Duty levels redundant, however, it is redundant enough to get annoying. For example, there is so much back tracking to do in just about all of this game's missions, and this usually leads you to encounters at enemy bases you have already cleared. Redundancy and realism aside, the gameplay is still really good. As for the graphics, this game handles them well too. The graphics in this game are absolutely stunning. They are among the best graphics I've ever seen in a video game. All the textures in this game are very beautiful, and very detailed. The characters look good enough, but the setting is the most beautiful part. As a matter of fact, the setting is so well designed, that it may as well be the best part of the entire game. It is set in Africa, and it shows, through its amazing savannah, and its beautiful jungles. Even the cities and villages in this game look beautiful. The graphics in this game are so beautiful it's crazy. As for the story, it falls under the pretty good, but not great category. Basically, you are a mercenary sent to kill an arms dealer named the Jackal who has armed both sides of a conflict in an unknown African nation. The premise alone is very good, however, the character development in this game is pretty bad. None of the characters are well developed, and you never learn anything about them. The setting of this game somewhat makes up for this, however, there is one problem with it that I just can't get over: not enough African wildlife. There are only a few zebras and wildebeests here and there, and not much else. The story of this game is pretty good overall, but not as good as it could be. Overall, I'd say that this game is quite good. It is not the best game ever made or anything, however, it is still very good, and worth playing through. I recommend this game to anyone who just wants to play a shooter set in Africa. This game would suit them perfectly

The issue with Far Cry 2 is that it's marketed incorrectly. They sell it as a shooter and so people think they should run around and engage enemies whenever they see them. If you try to do that in Far Cry 2, you'll die - first in the game, then of boredom.

It's a realistic, stealth based shooter and that's how it should be treated. Imagine that you're actually running around in Africa trying to survive and you'll do better. You avoid combat unless you need not to or have a great advantage, if you are discovered by a multitude of enemies, you wreak havoc and run for your life. You infiltrate during the night, not the daytime. You don't drive around on the road near checkpoints in a country at war. You kill without mercy and you get better at it as the game goes on. Not through XP and levels, but just by improving. That's an amazing experience in itself.

If you think carefully, stealth around a bit and plan your approach, there's literally no game ever made that'll reward you like this one will. You can choose to go in hard with granades and LMGs, or snipe from a hill top or sneak up close and take them down one at a time (or not take them down and just do what you came for). You'll pull off amazing infiltrations and assassinations, you'll experience an enemy truly scared of you and you play a story that transcends any attempted in a shooter before. Based on Conrad's great novel "The Heart of Darkness" (like Apocalypse Now is), you'll get an interesting and raw approach to Africa and the wars that ravage the continent. This game actually has something to say and it knows how to say it. It is, however, not a sandbox, casual fun shooter and it was a mistake to market it as such.

A word of advice, put the game on top difficulty. The AI seems broken on the lower ones and the game doesn't become too hard on the hardest one. Just as long as you remember that if you're outnumbered five to one and they know where you are, you're not going to win. At least not always.

The graphics for this game are pretty, and I'm never disappointed with the graphics, I'm just not always in awe, which is okay. The NPC "buddies" system is really cool. If you save a guy from a outpost, in free roam or mission, he will them become your 'buddy". This is cool already, but get this: One time I was running on foot, with little health and no syringes. Suddenly I get brought down from a accurate enemy shot, and then I think i'm dead. After a short black screen, the game comes back to one of my NPC buddies helping me up, and handing me a weapon. Then me and him get into an epic firefight against the remaining 8 enemies. We actually won, but the realistic manner in which the enemy attacked was marvelous. I was amazed how a few of them left to run through the foliage to get a better shooting position on our exposed flanks, while the percentage of the enemies stayed and continued to engage us head-on. My NPC buddy was also very helpful in combat, and he actually killed a couple more guys than I did. The whole firefight lasted something like 10 mins, and to this day was one of the most epic non-scripted video game firefights I've been in. Expand

A misunderstood game. People bash it for being repetitive, when it's really no more repetitive than the player.
The progress you get for doing missions are diamonds, which means new equipment, which means new ways to approach and deal with what Africa throws at you. It gives you plenty of toys, but it seems the average player sticks with the full-auto approach the whole way through.

The AI is not dumb, the game just isn't holding your hand with visual/audible pointers of how close you are to being spotted.
They can get suspicious, team up to search the area they saw something in, or they'll deem it safe enough to check out alone.
They'll carry their wounded, hear a body dropping to the ground if it's close enough, they'll attack the last position they saw you in, they'll lose track of you.
Is it night? They'll have a harder time seeing you.
Is it windy and/or raining? They'll have a harder time seeing you.
Is it broad daylight? Take big detours and watch out for snipers if you want to stay hidden.
That's a heck of a lot more intelligence than the average FPS.
They also feel human compared to other shooters, they'll shoot the breeze with each other when undisturbed, communicate with each other under combat, pep-talk, become terrified as they realize they're on their own with a guy who just killed everyone they worked with.

The game has flaws, such as enemies re-spawning when you get a certain distance away from a checkpoint (really though Far Cry 3's system meant there was nothing to do in an area ever again after clearing them). The lack of any friendly AI, and overly aggressive drivers that will not stop chasing you. The weapon degradation system is incomplete, with the only way to avoid it is to grab a new gun often. The malaria attacks doesn't really add anything but an annoyance. The buddy rescue system is a genius second-chance mechanic that won't abruptly end your story, but other than that the buddies are shallow and without use.

Immerse yourself in a game that 'll never take you out of your character's view, you'll reach out to grab stuff, you'll snap fingers back into place, pull shrapnel and bullets out of your arm. Watch your character pull and bang on his weapon when they jam. Even the shop shows you pull out the chair and sit down in front of an old monochrome monitor.
Plan ahead with your equipment, scout the locations to look for opportunities, and watch the game react to your actions. There's nothing like starting a fire at a safe distance, and hear the AI panic, only to later have a rocket stash ignite and send rockets everywhere.
The missions are simple because it's up to you to make it interesting with the mechanics the game provides. The world is a box of fireworks waiting to go off one by one. Don't put on blinders and look straight at the mission objective, the mission is also to get there. The journey is part of the mission, part of your story.

Overall, if you're the kind of person who likes to put some thought and creativity into his shooting, hates being led by the nose in his FPS, a game you can play over and over without it ever being the same, there's no game that will reward you more than Far Cry 2. And it remains my all-time top 5 single-player game.

There is an emphasis on exploration and while it is rewarding and fun to find new locations your primary means of transport is a jeep. This would be fine if the driving mechanics weren't so awful.
The survival elements are well designed and for the most part well implemented. There are also elements that make no sense, an example being guard outposts simply respawning their guards ridiculously quickly. A better way to do handle this could have involved new guards driving out the outpost from bases and replacing the old one: even if this happened in real-time it would take longer than vanilla FC2's magically respawning guards.
All in all Far Cry 2 is nowhere near perfect but gets criticized a lot harder than I believe it should and I definitely recommend trying it out, especially if you played 3 and wanted something harder.

Sure, some of the missions are repetitive, but most shooters have this mechanic of "go here and shoot." This game allows you to approach the objective from literally any angle, with any plan of attack, making each battle feel fresh. Expand

well... it maybe true its repetitive, but open world, and nice graphic is priceless. i like the way we roam the big world, doing things we want to try... and it is not really that boring, if you are the types of person who like it. But, i believe FarCry3 would be the best because it really have soul in its character (i saw the trailer and it was amazing).

Erm, why has this got a user score of 5.6? The console version is terrible compared to PC. On consoles it's running at 720, 30 FPS and on lower graphics and FoV. I guess it's because PC gamers compare it to Crysis and the first Far Cry whereas those console kids haven't seen the good stuff. Whilst it's true that this is notthing like the first game, I think that it makes it better because it shows there's been some work done and it isn't just copy and paste. The actual gameplay experience is more similar than you might think, but you couldn't tell it's a Far Cry game without the title. Regardless, it's still a fantastic game, with my only criticism being the lack of players in ranked matches on multiplayer. Expand

My first impressions, before even playing it, were slightly low, seeing that the game was not released by CryTek, but instead, Ubisoft (not a huge fan of them.) However, Giving it a try, I was met with a new experience on this game. It ran great on my computer, a lower-end machine (running Intel HD Graphics) with a close to 35 FPS and only had issues with slightly lengthy loading periods. I was amazed by how the atmosphere of the game was. The landscape portrayed many elements of the African area it takes place in, from deserts, to forests, to grasslands and everything in between. Even more amazing to me was the implicated weather system and realistic natural elements, such as being able to burn vegetation, and the sun moving relative to the time of day (in game time.) What sold me most on this score of 10 was the fact that all this was done, and so much was fit into the game, without me having to close processes to free up memory. This game is one of the few games I would give a 10 to, and it deserves it. I will be looking forward to Far Cry 3, and hope that it amazes me once again. Expand

The animations, physics, graphics and everything else is brilliant and looks almost real... That is if you get past the vehicles. They're fun to drive but two things make them to unbelievable. One, being that the break down waaay to easily and the second reason being that their physics is way off. You are probably looking for that stunning girl with amazing personality and deep conversation, with a cracking body and a good sense of humour. Far Cry 2 is more like a 45 year old woman, past her prime but still attractive, and delivers where it really matters... the bedroom.

While most of Far Cry 2's negative points (repetitive gameplay, long / boring travel times) do exist, they don't damn the game outright. Not as good as Crysis, but still holds its own. Who doesn't like using their multi-tool to extract bullets from their leg while fixing their broken shotgun by pounding on it? The situations and dialogue are probably not that realistic, but the paranoid style of it is great, rather unique. The reason I like Far Cry 2 as a gamer is because it carries ideals that are notably absent from most multi-platform releases; an interesting variation on level structure and environment for what is essentially a CoD-ish shooter. Definitely NOT Crysis, not crafted as skillfully (the levels never reach the level of scope as the more focused chapter-based approach of Crysis does), but is nevertheless much larger - and although some areas are boxy, other areas (e.g. lake in 1st half) have a great, natural presentation when you come across them. The environment doesn't feel as random as F:NV or Oblivion, most of it feels deliberately constructed. I think with a few basic changes, more incentive to run around the levels (see: GTA, Fallout, etc), the Far Cry 2 template could go from "cool / intriguing" to "really fun to play". At times the game is gorgeous, not as technically varied as Crysis, but that sun-blasted hard-shadowed plastic look really kills it in the dense jungles and muddy river canyons. Expand

It's clear from many of the other user reviews here that people expect certain things from a first-person shooter, and Far Cry 2 isn't ticking those boxes. Personally, I am not a big fan of linear gameplay, preferring open, 'sandbox' games like the GTA series, so to me Far Cry 2 is a breath of fresh air. Being able to move around at your own pace, in a very realistic world (in terms of audio/graphics, at least), and come up with your own tactics rather than having to follow a set path makes this a lot of fun.

I've dropped 1 point because of the instantly-respawning enemies (as mentioned in many other reviews) and because if you cause trouble, run away, and come back, everyone seems to have forgotten about you, which is weird. The story is a little weak, but honestly, who really wants 20-minute-long cut scenes? In short, this beautiful and open-ended game doesn't stick to the conventions of FPSes, and that makes it something unique.

It is basically a totally new series with new characters, a new setting and a new gameplay style. I love this sort of open-world shooter. Far Cry 2 does have some bad points though. Enemies respawn way too quickly, guns degrade way too quickly and there are too many enemy jeeps driving around. I also wish the map was a little more open as a lot of the time the roads just go through canyons. It would be really cool if it was just uninterrupted savannah for several kilometres. Unfortunately, however, cliffs and canyons appear every few hundred metres even in the most open areas. This game should have had civilians because not all people should attack you on sight. Ubisoft said before the release of the game that it had wicked car chases but I just find myself switching to the gun as soon as I see an enemy vehicle and blasting the crap out of them. They really should have made patrolling enemy vehicles equipped with no weapons. I would have prefered to work for one faction with an in-depth storyline because I found the story to be the only major let-down in the game. Yes, the game has a lot of flaws but the reason I rate it so high is because it attempted something no other game has before. To get the most out of this game, just enjoy the open-world with heaps of awesome weapons and the ability to kill mercenaries in any gruesome way you see fit. If you don't like this game, it isn't so much that it is a "bad game", but more that it isn't your style of game. Expand

Well, Far Cry 2 isn't your game, get back to CoD! The second type relishes in freeform, dynamic gameplay, i.e. sandbox games. We enjoy a bit of storyline too, but not so much that it distracts from our main reason for playing shooters: inflicting epic amounts of violence on unsuspecting, virtual people, choosing our grim methods from a range of options. For us, Far Cry 2 is an absolute blast. First the negatives, since it's far from perfect. Weapon damage isn't at all realistic, with both you and the virtual fodder being able to soak multiple shots. Respawn times for the endless patrols is far too high, and you're rarely able to drive around for more than one or two minutes before being intercepted by another jeep full. The good stuf: both the engine and the virtual piece of Africa you get to roam in look absolutely stunning and realistic. Weapon handling is flawless. Vehicle handling is flawless, easily beating e.g. GTA. Love sniping? This is your game. Love brutely murdering goons with the best in-game flamethrower ever? Got it. Just watching how fires spread will convince anyone with any feel for quality that this is something special. And it still has drama, dynamically employing scripts to create involvement, where LESSER games like the Call of Duty series have to rely on stupid virtual people casually waiting until the player's arrival before displaying their wafer thin emo. It's a shame Ubisoft refused to release an SDK for this, resulting in a distinct lack of mods which could (and would) solve the few annoying faults of this masterpiece. At its current price, anyone who relishes freedom, fun and great graphics should get this. Expand

I have, however, been a professional in the computer industry for over 40 years, building, repairing, designing, programming, and playing. The game's Story Mode is interesting and different than most I've played and displays the most awesome realistic 3-D graphics I've ever seen in a game. You create a profile and select who you are in the game and go from there. The beginner weapons are not to powerful or accurate, unless you get the Fortunes Pack add-on with the game, which has some very powerful weapons, vehicles and extra maps in it. The way that fire propagates with the direction of the wind and type of grass or brush adds a sense of reality to the game. The dynamic weather component and time of day (24 hour clock), adds realism and dynamics to the entire game environment. The story is simple and after you perform the minimal training required to open the game up into 1 of 4 starting points, your play options are almost endless. Healing yourself is a graphical experience you may or may not enjoy, because there are several types of heals that you do to yourself. Unlike most of the shooter games I have, you don't play the game in levels, you simply play the same game with changing dynamics and weapons. The game opens options as you make choices of how you want to customize your game experience as you play, which is like reading a book that you just can't seem to put down. I played this mode for a couple of months before playing multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode is a first-class first person shooter game. The action is as intense as the graphics is gamer eye-candy. The server interface really needs to be re-engineered, in my opinion, but there are ways to get around the difficulties, which I have found very easy to do. The Far Cry 2 team developed one of the most awesome games I have, but that's not all you get either. There are many more freebies that are also included with the base game. 1.) There is a Far Cry 2 Benchmark test so you can test your system to perform and look any way you customize it and then you can tune the game to play according to reported results. 2.) There is one of the most powerful map editor programs I have ever seen. You can download any map, look at it and even go into the map in "game mode" and walk, run, or drive through the map. You can shoot, get ammo, heal yourself, blow stuff up, and even start fires, just to see how the map looks. The map creation tools are among the best. If you like designing and making game maps, you need to put your creativity hat on and get to work with this feature rich editor. The old phrase; "Amaze your friends." comes to mind when I saw how powerful this editor's tools are. 3.) Launch Server, which needs some brain power to discuss, but not here and now. The UBIsoft forums have great help in getting your server online, which may be a cool thing for you to do, just so you can play with your friends and family. I was looking for a game that I could afford to purchase for myself and some of my family and have it cheap enough that some of my gaming friends could also afford to purchase a copy. The current price for both the base game and the Fortunes Pack made it very affordable. Expand

    Onto a review :)
Far Cry 2 is a complicated game. Hard to get the most out of, but if you do, you're in for a treat. The gameplay is essentially like that of any other FPS, but tweaked towards realism.
The immersive aspect is executed brilliantly, except for the very few graphical glitches to be seen about 2 - 4 times in a play through. Most of the time though, it's something that you see and think "Oh, that's wierd. Oh, wait. It's gone."
Graphically, the game is impeccable. The environment interacts with all of the tiny little models and everything you can see. Trees blow realistically in the wind, and fires will soon see them nothing short of a black stump with branches.
Vehicles are nicely implemented. Helping you get from A to B with minimal effort. Just watch out for guard posts. While most people complain about the guard posts, I like them. I'm a fan of tactical gameplay. Which is something you'll have to learn to be able to properly enjoy FC2. Anyone used to running and gunning may want to stick to playing online.
The scope of the world is amazing. Every little detail is beautifully rendered thanks to the technical mastery behind the Dunia engine. Anyone that doesn't like this game is probably just not a fan of the style of play. The game itself is impeccable. If you're a fan of tactical gamplay, mixed with realism and immersion, buy it. If you're looking for just another shooter, go back to CoD4.
    I'm giving it an 8/10.
    It'd get a 10 if it had Co-op. :(
Oh, you might want to invest in a computer with at least 1.5GB of RAM and a9600GT or better :)

Well !! i dont know what do the gamers mean by respawning issue..coz i dint face one. There are only a no of enemies at every checkpost and once you have dealt with them thats it.....moreover you dont have to empty the whole of your magzine to take down a single guy...just aim for the head.any one who has played Counter strike will not have any difficulty in the gameplay as such. The graphics are good But yes reaching every mission on a geep makes it quite dull. The game lacks action like Crysis or COD. But overall its a good game. Expand

I'm only giving this game a 10 because everyone else is not giving Ubisoft THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT! I mean come on now! They are one of the leading developers in the industry and they wouldn't even think about releasing a finished product unless they were possitive that it would be recieved well by the masses. Now having said that, I think Far Cry 2 isn't truly deservable to carry on the Far Cry name in many aspects BUT it's still a wonderfully crafted fps and should have a home in any fps fans collection. Anyone who loves a mixture of open-world gameplay and intense fps action should definitely pick this one up! Expand

Combat is thrilling – each weapon packing a solid, vicious blast; movement suggesting heft and momentum. [Dec 2008, p.80]
  2. By adopting a laissez faire attitude to player discretion, Ubisoft has crafted a brilliant follow-up.

More importantly, it has nowhere near as many bugs as something like "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl," a title that bears many similarities. Add to the roughly 25 hour single-player campaign a remarkably easy-to-use map creation tool and a full multiplayer suite, and you've got one of the most complete overall gaming packages of the year, as well as one of the most ambitious.
