Disappointed ! 2 for the graphics but otherwise the game is really boring, stupid missions go from A to B (B is always on the other side of the map), you just kill again and again the same guys, you destroy again and again the same enemy cars on the way. Frankly speaking nothing to compare with Far Cry. No doubt that reviewer in magazines have been bribed.

Loved the original Far Cry. This is not Far Cry version 2. It's an interactive game engine demo, not a game. What can i say except..... BORING! scenery looks nice, but graphically, apart from the fire (which is probably the best looking thing in the game) no better than Crysis or COD4. Story is boring, characters are boring, missions are boring, travel is boring, even the combat is boring and repetitive. after so much wait and anticipation I'm sorry to say i am very disappointed.

I do not know what goes on in the minds of people who gave this game a positive score. Maybe they are console players and they've never played a decent game in their life. Maybe they have several blood clots in their brain and have lost the power of higher reasoning. Maybe both. This game is terrible. This game is terrible. And what's really sad is that it took me only 10 minutes to realize this, without reading all the other negative comments. The visuals are "okay" at best. They are definitely not as immersive as Crysis for example. I'd even go as far as to say Far Cry 1 felt more tropical then Far Cry 2 feels african. Everything looks brown, its' hard to make out where one thing begins and the other ends. Moving around in the game feels like you're drunk, on drugs and have several vital limbs missing. The moral? Don't but a shooter unless it's coming from id, valve or perhaps crytek. The rest don't have a clue how to make a good shooter. Expand

Ugh. Combat is clunky and frustrating, unarmored enemies can take half a rifle clip to the torso and keep fighting, vehicles handle very unrealistically and are far too fragile, the much-touted vast open world just makes travel from place to place tedious and dull, enemies respawn endlessly which is intensely annoying, and almost everyone in the entire world will attempt to kill you on Ugh. A short list of some of them: - mouse sens/accel mess - fov problems - oversized consolish menus - crippled controls - no leaning, no proning, no burst/single fire changing - among other things - no sound settings - barely any destructible environment - "big 50km2 world" made into a maze of between-cliffs corridors you could render a cave top instead of the sky, and call it FarCry: Descent Into Undermountain - AI leaving a lot to be desired (on "infamous" level at least) - /absolutely/ everybody hates you ! friendlies ? neutral villages ? maybe with some tasks to do ? forget it ... - everything respawns ! damn quickly at that, so you better be quick while doing missions, if you don't want enemies you just killed shooting at your ass - handholding (average console Joe can't feel lost after all) - weapon carrying capacity limited to 1 per class (instead of weight or some generic cap) - so forget about bringing assault and sniper at the same time - unified ammo per class (DX:IW anyone ?) - once you buy something, unlimited amounts for free await for you ! yay (for console Joe at least) ! - world doesn't change - whatever you do, how many missions you did, for whom - everything remains exactly the same + ridiculous DRM on top of everything That's by no means a complete list. Check out UBI forums for locked threads (mods started big damage control recently). Sorry, but this game is an overhyped (by "major" offline / online magazines) ripoff. And sadly adheres to a "standard" PC games have become over last years. And you know what the most sad and ironic part is ? - omg, Far Cry 2 didn't sell as we expected, it's all pirates' fault ! - but ... we delivered subaverage, overhyped, poor console excuse of a game - isn't that the main issue ? - sacrilege ! It's all because of those filthy thieves I tell you ! Next time we implement DRM requiring fingerprints and retina scans - that will show them ! - ... I can bet my head that in case of such scenario - pirates will be the excuse of everything. I guess it's time to look to indie games for good. Expand

FC2 gameplay sucks. This is a technical showcase, perhaps a demonstration of games to come. But this game don't play. BORING AI, gunfights that don't make sense, point a belt fed at a characters chest and have him come at you, venture off the linear story map and get malaria and die. I would have much preferred a FC 1 Mod, waste of $50.00, I wish I had read the reviews first.

If I wanted more open-world I would play the GTA series or even Crysis for that matter. If I wanted to drive I would play the DIRT series.
It takes many many headshots to kill an enemy, and you cannot rely on large caliber weapons because somehow in this game shooting several rounds of 7.62x39mm into someone's face is not enough to kill him.

You learn that one recoil and then you can adjust your aim to it no matter if you're using the heavy mg or a pistol. Other than that all the maps are basicly the same. There's like a hotzone in the middle and you can run around it - there it is. When a match is over and you're the best player on the winning team you can decide to either punish or spare the best player in the opposing team. That's about the only cool thing with the multiplayer-part. I'd sum it up as a **** clone of Call of duty-multiplayer - and im not even a call of duty fanboy. The single player was pretty fun when I started. The story was compelling enough for me to get interested in the antagonist and the main character (yourself) but once you got out of that first "zone" it all got worse. I thought that the survival-aspect seemed cool in trailers. But that was because I expected that the main character would have to collect eatable plants, hunt animals etc in order to survive. But nope. That's all part of some weird and huge unlock-system. You can make a backpack out of 2 X meat from animal Y. That animal is marked on your minimap so there's no way that you can miss it. The same goes for all the plants. Just look at your minimap and all you need to do is go there. It's an open world but since EVERYTHING is marked on the map it feels as if everything is already explored. You already know where everything is so there's close to no exploring. Sure, you can climb up a radiotower and the hotspots will become even more apparent to you (they actually show you how the place looks from an angle, instead of just the marked spot).

And if that wasnt enough the AI is beyond stupid. You can throw rocks to distract the AI, you've got an infinite amount of rocks and you can do it a billion times. Each time the AI goes "WHAT WAS THAT?!", each time just as surprised as the previous time you did it. Their reactiontimes also seem to be really slow. They aim at you and after about 5 seconds they start shooting. I guess this is some setting that would help console-players to kill their enemies fast enough but on a PC it's incredibly easy to get the kill before they actually start shooting.

Eventually the story just spins into a cliché and I totally lost interest. Stopped playing after about two hours of playtime. I doubt I will play it again. The co-op was repetative and easy (on the hardest difficulty). The co-op is not like single player. You're on a rail on one specific "mission" at a time. It's not even a story, you go get a bomb, place it and then you go to spot X. Mission complete and you go back to the lobby. All in all a really crappy game. To name all of them: Weapon degredation, brush fires, vehicles that can explode, AIs that will save your butt when you are about to die. A long list, I know. The game's graphics are very good. That's where the happy fun time ends. The game has about 6 different mission types. All of them basically include killing everyone, searching for diamonds, and getting diamonds for killing everyone. Wash, rinse, repeat. It's very much based on grinding and half of your game is taken traveling to the place to kill people. Every once in a while, you'll need something to keep yourself alive so you have to take a break from killing people, then it's back into the same old killing spree. I wouldn't really recommend this game unless you are incredibly bored and you need to kill a lot of easy to kill somethings. Expand

What ruins the very good atmosphere of this game for me is just that all you do is shoot people, then drive to another place on the other side of the map, get attacked by some outpost people only to shoot more people at the place you were headed! I DON'T CARE ABOUT GOOD GRAFICS IF THE GAMEPLAY IS JUST ANNOYING! I have no idea if the story is good, I didn't want to play it for long.

Game play has design flaws with poor AI, weapons that rapidly decompose, and a terrible gaming innovation, incurable malaria.

This "sandbox" is huge and takes much of your gaming time just getting from point A to point B. Sadly, the large world has very little of interest to do in it and is painfully ugly.

Skip this installment of Far Cry franchise. The original Far Cry and FC3 are on a completely different level from this poorly designed misfire.

To address some of the key points that these "honest" reviews have made. 1 - The graphics are sub-par for this generation of computing. Nobody expects Crysis like effects in every game, but running on all ultra settings all I can say is "meh". Textures are low resolution, vegetation is unrealistic, and the colour is very drab and washed out. Character animations are so-so. Reeks of "this was meant for an XBOX360". 2 - This game is not realistic. Since when can you throw a vehicle into reverse immediately without stopping and clutching. Where did all the africans go (almost every bad guy is white and english-speaking). Why are there only 5 different types of enemy soldier costumes? Why are all the enemy guns in very poor condition? Do these elite mercenary tough-guys you encounter continuously not know how to maintain their equipment? All I see are weapons which seem to become jam-prone and rotten the second you lay your hands on them. Also, seeing as how the protagonist suffers heavily from malaria, you would think that jamming pliers into bullet holes and ripping the bullets out, or lighting matches and pushing them in the aforementioned bullet holes would possibly result in serious consequences given the harsh environment and poor medical fsacilities. Lets not forget the fact that you can barely sprint for 6 seconds before you basically collapse, blurry eyed. 3 - This game is stressful to play, not fun. Respawning should be left to games that know how to use it, I'm talking about Call of Duty, MMORPGs etc. Clearing a camp or safehouse and finding it immediately repopulated within 5 minutes gets boring (very) fast. As does the fact that you're everyone's worst enemy and they all like to throw jeeps at you every 1/2 half mile you travel. In closing, do not trust the reviews. If you have a great PC, play Crysis or WARHEAD again. You will enjoy it much more. I'm glad I borrowed this from my friend and didn't buy it (he only lasted 4 hours of gameplay before uninstalling also). Expand

Repetitive missions that consist of endless travel followed by mediocre gun fights and then more travel, just to do practically the same mission again. stopping every minute to get out of your car and gun down enemies at a random checkpoint, just so they don't relentlessly pursue you and turn your car into a fireball. Weapons jam every other shot and make it a pain in firefights. The environment itself is vast and colorful yes, but lacks a sense of life. the only citizens you'll see in the game pre beggining cut scene are held up in little shacks awaiting passports delivered by you for some malaria medication. endless generic mercenaries that automatically think you're evil and will hunt you down. as for the"civil war," the only fighting you'll see that isn't you vs. a thousand mercs, are your occasional buddies you'll meet that help you out in missions, but actually just require more driving for completion of said mission. but what dissapoints me the most is just the lack story immersion and other game play elements. I wanted to fell like the guy i just killed would actually have an impact or do something, but everything is just so linear and generic. The graphics are very good. i particularly like the lighting and shadow effects, they are nothing revolutionary however. but no matter how good the visuals, good graphics cant cover up bad gameplay. If you go through a checkpoint, just plow on through, the only thing you will get is frustration when you drive back through it again and realize all the guards have respawned. The guns in this game are ridiculously underpowered, I takes 2 hits to the face on any enemy to kill them, and no I'm not kidding. If you do die, and believe me, you will, you don't go back to a save point, you have to sit and watch as some random guy drags your body around for a while, and shoots at the "bad guys", and then you can somehow get up, inject yourself with some needle and you magically get back up to full health. The problem is that it gets so annoying watching the scene with him dragging you around, and it just makes you want to smash your keyboard. I didn't quit here though, it's when I decided to go paragliding off a mountain, and landed in a river. The problem with this is, the river has no way out but to swim to one end or the other, and there were no boats anywhere in site, and the guy just swims so dang slow. Wanting to give it a try in hopes that it has half the fun of the original Far Cry, I borrow someones computer and wait 2 days for the download. The first 2 hours was decent, cinematic wise. After that everything is garbage; gameplay, AI and story. The gameplay is a repetitive notion of go to objective x and do y. There is no realism what so ever, it takes 2 shots to the head to kill anyone unless you are running around with a Barrett. The guns "rust", in a matter of minutes and constantly jam. Even the Springfield bolt-action rifle jams, colt .45 jams, and the first model fired 5000 rounds without incident, here an improved model jams after 2 mags. How the player "heals" themselves is seriously goofy, if only it were as easy as using a Gerber to pull bullets out of a wound. the AI is seriously flawed. There is little programing, all coded is the lines regarding how to interact with vehicles, an aim-bot and an objective to go strait towards the target. More than once Ive taken a dune buggy up a rocky outcropping, only to be followed by a single AI in a 2.5 ton truck who flips his vehicle. The AI has but one objective, follow and try to kill you. For gameplay, I expected destroyable buildings, all they have here is the breakable awning. This trainwreck is generously overrated by everyone, the critic scores are ROFL wrong. Its easy and rather extensive. Its final point goes to its graphics, which are good, but not great. Shading and vegetation are done well. But the people kind of look comical at any distance farther than 10 feet (I have settings maxed out, i just dont have antialising turned on because im using my tv, helps a little, its not my computer). Buildings are ok. The fire effect of burning grass and what not was a good idea, but not everything burns. Now to the game. The guns jam continously, not to mention a lack of actual variety in what you can choose. Sounds are odd to say the least. AI is horrid. They can see you from 2 miles away with ease, even tho you cant see out from the bush your in. Alert one guy who you killed silently in a building, and the whole area comes after you. Every mission is drive from point A, to point B which is always on the other side of the map... Plus, there whole go anywhere do whatever is a lie, you cant go anywhere, you can pretty much go straight in 10 mile area until the rest of the map is unlocked or open, whatever you like to call it (little exaggeration, but its still close, which is pathetic). While driving across the map, going as slow as possible in any veichle you get (your car says 60mph, theres no difference between 20 and 60... rediculous), enemies will continuously attack you, both sides, for just being alive! Isn't that fun! And once you leave out of there site... BOOM! There back. Its actual funny, because so much time is wasted trying to fight. If you just drive past, minding your own business, two or 3 will hop in a car and come after you. That car will respawn soon enough too, no worries. You can try walking around to get to your objective to not alert people, good luck. It'll probably take you 4 hours, while still alerting everybody known to exsistance within the game. Conclusion... While there seemed to be ideas there, nothing was done to actually capitalize on them, nor follow through and make sure this was at all enjoyable or well done. AI is reminisant to the days of pathetic AI earlier this decade. Half Life 1 had better. That was released in 98 I believe. 10 years later FC2 couldn't create better or equal AI? Sad... Multiplayer is just not fun. You can scan (withouth zooming in) back and forth until a name tag appears in a bunch of foliage and you've found a guy. rediculous. Gun choices in Multi are slim, diamond system is just odd. Stay away... far far away from this. There are better games out there, even the newly released $20 ones, I'm sure can kick the crap out of this. How in the right mind did so many "critics" give this game such high scores, I'll never know. But these days, it just seems like more and more games that aren't good keep getting high reviews. It seems like all it involves is driving around, dealing with annoying checkpoints that respawn full of guys 10 minutes after you clean them out, fighting your way into a stronghold, killing some guy, and repeating over and over again. This could be fun enough, but the gameplay mechanics are not enjoyable. The AI can see you through trees and the exclusion of the ability to lean makes firefights a chore in an otherwise semi-realism based FPS. The map/binocular interface is poorly planned, as your map covers up your line of sight but must be up in order to use the telescope thing. It makes scouting locations a hassle. I didn't even bother with multiplayer. Expand

This is easily the worst PC game made in recent history. The game has nothing to do with Farcry, and is completely different in almost every respect. While the graphics are phenomenal and the lighting is superb, they still aren't as good as Crysis, so don't spend your money purely because it looks cool. Gameplay is awful. The map is huge, but you have to drive (or walk) everywhere you go, which takes a long time, not to mention that everyone you meet is hostile, even the civilians driving cars will get out to shoot at you. On your way to wherever it is you have to go you will run into 3 or 4 "guard posts" where 5 or 6 guys will shoot at you and get in their jeeps to follow you. Every time you want to go somewhere, be it for a mission or just for fun, you will run into this. The missions are incredibly repetitive and generally consist of "go here, blow this up/kill this guy , leave" But whatever you have to blow up/kill is generally guarded by 20 or 30 men. The trailers might lead you to believe that you can avoid these guys with stealth, but that isn't remotely true. Once you kill one person, even with a suppressed weapon, the entire camp knows exactly where you are and opens fire on you. Even through walls. This is around the point where your gun decides to jam or you get really sick with malaria (I forgot to mention, you get these malaria attacks throughout the game where your screen goes greenish and you have to take pills) which makes it very difficult to fight back. The game has a "buddy" system where you have friends that can help you out. Unfortunately buddy AI is somewhere between brain dead and retarded so they often get themselves critically injured. When your buddy is critically injured you have to either sacrifice a syrette (a syringe with magical healing potion) or shoot them (they never come back) which gets incredibly annoying, especially when you've used all your syrettes to heal after you were shot while unjamming your weapon. If you would like to fight during the night rather than the day you have to go out and find a "safe house" where you can sleep, which gets obnoxious when trying to plan a raid. And even though the gameplay is awful, maybe it would be worth it if the story was amazing, there is no story (well, there is, but it's really thin) the idea is you're in a country with 2 warring factions and they give you missions so you can get diamonds ($) so you can buy guns so you can do more missions. There's also this guys called the jackal who leaves tapes around so you can hear how sick and twisted he is, you're on a mission throughout the game to kill this guy and I figure at the end of the game you get to kill him, but I doubt I'll ever finish it because it's miserable to play. AI: Likes to get shot while driving cars, will relentlessly follow you until they are dead. Will show blood and then a few seconds later like a bad Uwe Bowl movie will react to being shot. This is quite comical as they will pick a random direction to jump backwards into to die and ultimately looks like bad acting. Story: Your in Africa and everyone wants to shoot you. You meet people who like making you drive endlessly for ridiculously long periods of time, eventually you get sick of barking like a dog for them and you WILL kill them. A new guy will then replace the last guy you killed who will suffer the same fate. You rescue people throughout the game and are rewarded by them by extending your missions and having you drive even further, they too die but only occasionally do you get to be the one to pull the trigger. In the console ports you are given special abilities, in this game you are given malaria... This is annoying as you need medication throughout the game, to get this you have to drive to town to pick up passports then you have to drive an average of 20 minutes to another location to pick up 1 - 2 pill. This is not remotely fun. Physics: My god bad, a two car collision on a Q6600 6gb DDR2 800, Geforce 8800GTS 640 will reduce the frame rate to 0.1fps from 60. This is unforgivable. Graphics: Very good, things look very realistic. Are however quite dull and lack color and variety. Environment: Rivers are lifeless, forests are lifeless but ironically the deserts have both zebras and ox. There are occasionally insects. Weapons: Good variety, ultimate I hate all of them. You have to constantly replace guns as they frequently. Accuracy sucks on all of them, machine guns are honestly less effective then the pistols and constantly want to fire in the air and will not let you counteract that movement. To get weapons that will jam slightly less often you have to complete extra missions to unlock weapons you can buy. There are very few weapon locations and they are very far away from any mission. Transportation: This absolutely ruins this game, nothing about it is even remotely fun. You drive around and get shot at frequently which forces you to get out of the car and fix your vehicle while being shot at. If you accidentally get to the edge of the map your car will be taken from you and you will be forced to walk potentially kilometers to the nearest road. Missions will force you to go to the far edges of the map EVERY time and then return to the center EVERY time. We get it, it's big. Gliders will result in your death, do not use these. Larger boats WILL get suck and you WILL have to swim far, avoid these also. They have 5 bus terminals in each map strategically placed as far away from any mission as possible still, they can save time. Conclusion: This entire game felt like work, I just hate it. Do not buy this game, do not endorse this crap. Expand

Your missions require you to drive (or bus!) all over the map, which by itself is alright, but once you take into account the fact that every ten seconds you're getting attacked by a random patrol jeep or clearing yet another road block, the game slows to a grind. The missions are essentially the same thing over and over, so when you think about the fact that you have to battle your way to each generic mission in a story you don't really care about through several uninteresting fights at forty or fifty thousand guard posts along the way, the game quickly loses it's sheen. I think the main problem is that the developers tried to combine a sand box style game with straight forward shooter elements. In a shooter, constant combat is exactly what you want, but in a sandbox game, it's nice to be able to explore or travel to and from missions without getting attacked or feeling like you have to creep along the road and around each outpost. This game is not worth the time or the money. I would recommend passing it up for a legitimate title. Expand

The landscape looks great, but you'll soon find it tiresome, as areas you just cleared, seemed to be instantly teaming with the same guys again, after returning within seconds. Plus when getting missions, they inevitably end up being the other side of the map, meaning long and repetitive trips. Want to get up that small hill to shoot with your sniper? Well no you can't, your character seems unable to climb the slightest hill and gets stopped in his tracks by small logs etc. So the open landscape you see, is actually very limited. The weapon system. It seems they have decided not to let you chose what weapons you would like to carry. Sure you can carry different weapons, but if you want to carry say a sniper rifle and an assault rifle, forget it. But at the same time they let you carry a sniper and an LMG???? Then there's the enemies you meet. Each and everyone of them has X-ray eyes. Not only do they know exactly where you are, but can see you through certain rocks and deep foliage. They know you are coming before you do, has to be the worst AI I've seen in a while. Stealth on this game is not and option, because even with the stealth weapons, the enemies know your position right away. It can be the middle of the night, and out of no where a guy on another part of the map starts shelling you, or a sniper the other side of a bunch of trees, starts shooting you. What a disappointment. This is a by-the-numbers FPS that does not deserve the Far Cry label. Big disappointment. Driving endlessly over african roads searching for new missions is boring. The enemies you encounter do the same thing every time - jump in a 4 wheel drive with a mounted gun and chase you, and when on foot they are wooden and stilted - compared to Call of Duty modern warfare the movement is very poor. Ubisoft is consistently making very pretty games that are failing on the game play front. The graphics are not bad, they make up for lower-poly models (console port) with lovely DX10 shaders. Likewise the fire propagation and realistic day-night cycle is wonderfully done, and capturing the sense of Africa is absolutely spot-on (Lived there for 14 years). Also Combat is also done well, and Ubisoft is consistently making very pretty games that are failing on the game play front. Also Combat is also done well, and the jamming and healing animations are pretty facking sweet. Otherwise, everything else just screams port. The story has some thought in it, but feels thrown together with the unnaturally sped-up dialogue. The open world is fun, until you realize that you'll be shooting through the same checkpoints quite literally hundreds of times, making combat extraordinarily repetitive. The fabled destructability is so-so, nowhere near the level you'll see in Crysis (again, console port). There are factions, but they're not tied to any checkpoints... so the story ends up doing one factions missions until finished, then repeat ad nauseum. Ubisoft evidently tried to add some staying power with GTA-esque collectibles and small side missions, although they are no where near the quality shown in GTA. Unlocking guns means doing the exact same mission 8 times, albeit in different parts of the map. Multiplayer is practically a joke, the interface was obviously designed for the console community. And if multiplayer is a joke, who will bother with the map editor no matter how well it has been done? In conclusion, Far Cry 2 was a fun experiment in open-world first person shooters but reeks firmly of being thought out for console, and then brought over to the PC for maximized profits. Expand

OK as shooters go but totally and unforgivably poor in many areas - it could have been so much better. Whatever you drive the patrols cars are always faster than you, no matter how well concealed when using silent weapons such as the dart rifle the enemy can find you instantly - seemingly able to see through walls etc. The Malaria thing is a joke - it can be cured - except in far cry 2 - and when a medicine is found you destroy it and don't stock up first ... feeble. The instant 'replacement' of AI at the guard posts is just absolute .... of the worst kind. This game passed a little time but it has now been uninstalled permanently. Not worth the money. Expand

I've tried several times to get into this game, but the experience never kept my interest long enough to finish it. The gunfights are fun, but the story and the continuous need to drive to distant locations made it a complete snoozer.

I read the negative and positive reviews but shrugged off the negative because EVERY game has some bad reviews right? Well upon starting the game I was blown away! It was awesome, some specifics (spoiler) like fixing cars, jumping into the gunner seat of a car, and seeing a gun shop with unlock able weapons??? Sounds like a win to me! So I played the game, decided to do some weapon unlocks first as I wanted some bad ass stuff. So I did it, go to this point and destroy the convoy, check! went back and got my just reward. Went to another weapon dealer and took his quest to unlock different weapons.... go to this point and destroy the convoy... ok the guns are enticing enough to do it so I did. Did a main mish quest to try to liven up the game, go here and INSERT ONE(destroy, capture, free from captivity) this objective and get paid. So I did it and the first few were fun but then they ask you to do THE SAME THING, OVER AND OVER. Different places, different "objectives", you do the same thing. Ok so to sum up the rant: The main quests are very redundant, the gun quests (only way to unlock guns) are all EXACTLY THE SAME THING, not even a different story. Basically every single quest you take from any source anywhere in this game goes like this: take quest, drive 10 mins stopping every 2 or 3 mins to wipe out a "guard post" complete mish. Take next mish. That system right there is problem number 1. Number 2 is another HUGE gameplay problem, as seen in some of the other negative posts (RichardH goes into more detail) The guards at a guard post are INFINITE. You kill them, drive away and instantly there are the same number back! Its not even fun to kill them its just **** annoying, seriously! So OK its not bad enough that I have to drive across the stupid map to do a mish that would be just as "fulfilling" if it was half the distance but I have to stop to clear out the same guard posts on the same road I came down 5 mins ago! And ANOTHER thing, there is no fast travel, you can take a bus that takes you to 1 of 4 places on the outskirts of a map but you have to board the bus at one of those 4 stops so it doesn't help at all. And EVERY, AND I MEAN EVERY mission is on the opposite end of the map. Another thing I was dissapointed in this game was there is nothing to be done to the guns once you get them. There are A FEW guns that have things like a silencer, but you cant choose what you want to put on what or anything its all pre-done and you have 0 options, idk about you but I like options. Now small problems that are VERY frustrating: when you try to revive a friend you have to feel him up first and it takes a solid 10 seconds to revive someone when ultimately you do nothing more than stick him with a needle, seriously if your in the middle of a fight you cant revive anyone because you get shot up. It should take a second or two at most. Also on the same subject when someone comes to revive you, say you accidentally kill yourself (I did it jumping off a bridge into what I thought was deep water to get a chest) the team mate still has the same animation as doing it under fire and it takes FOREVER. Long story short, Im sorry guys as much promise as this game has I couldn't recommend it to anyone, Im not even happy with it for the $5 i wasted on it. Its too redundant, too fake (infinite enemy etc), too slow, and frankly boring. Idk how this game is a sequel if the first one is anything like this im not sure how they grossed enough to make this. The only reason it gets a 3 is because of the unique things it brings to the table (however annoying then get within the hour). Expand

Far Cry 2 problem is missions that repeat it selves and map that it more like labyrinth than actually free map. Stealth system is very bad or there isn't it at all. Plot is pretty vague. Lastly even though Jack Carver was not very memorable, dozen mute characters aren't even that.

First few hours are a great fun. Vast world that you can do almost anything you want to do it with possibilities of many story lines. Good graphics too. But after 2 hours I realized that the game was extremely repetitive, enemies re-spawned very quickly. 3 hours later, it was one of the most tedious games I played.

Everything looks so blurred and washed out that I have to concentrate to see enemies. The first part of the Far Cry Series was colorful and beautiful and comparing them ignoring they are 4 years a part from each other the textures are obviously better, but the coloring is just unbearable. Also comparing Far Cry 2 to games being released in the same year such as GTA IV, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead it is not on the same production level. But gameplay wise Far Cry 2 made a huge leap forward compared to Far Cry 1, finally there is stuff to do apart from the main storyline.

I would go as far as saying that Far Cry 2 is the worst Far Cry from a series of colorful games. Far Cry 1 had beautiful graphics and boring gameplay, Far Cry 2 has good gameplay and unpleasing graphics. Far Cry 3 than combined both and the series lived up to its full potential, so I would rather recommend you to play either Far Cry 1 to see where the series once started or Far Cry 3 to see it being perfected.

Of the pluses, I can only note the mechanics of the game, which marked the beginning of the 3rd, 4th parts, etc.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. More importantly, it has nowhere near as many bugs as something like "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl," a title that bears many similarities. Add to the roughly 25 hour single-player campaign a remarkably easy-to-use map creation tool and a full multiplayer suite, and you've got one of the most complete overall gaming packages of the year, as well as one of the most ambitious.
