If at the end of fallout 3 you were like "MOAR" like most sane people, then you will want to get this, as it is a longer, better experience, albeit without the "new-appeal" of fallout 3, since it's the same in many respects, except with a longer, completely different and new world. It's equally good to fallout 3, but if you have played one or the other they are both quite the same.

Was a bit skeptic at first, being a great fan of the two original Fallout games. But after more than fifteen hours playing, it's nothing but a true revelation. Actually I had waited for a game like this one for so long now !

It just feels like I saw only a very few of what it has to offer, in terms of locations, quests, characters, hidden secrets, and so on (and yet, I saw quite a lot),

It just feels like I saw only a very few of what it has to offer, in terms of locations, quests, characters, hidden secrets, and so on (and yet, I saw quite a lot), that I feel dizzy in front of all the possibilities that are offered to me. Offered I mean, never imposed. Because you are not caught by the hand, never. You make your own choices (which are numerous, and almost never simple to take ok, I would still have loved to have even more choices, but that's because I'm insatiable), you make your own way through this giant world, you decide to explore what you want, and often you'll be (happily) surprised by what will happen to you.

I could still discourse for long about all the qualities of this game, the game system, the story, but if you're a big RPG fan like me, and you didn't try it yet, then wait no more, I don't know what you're still doing here

In Fallout 1 or 2 you had a strategic map where you quickly traveled between locations, but here you walk all the way. What's the point of it? It's no fun to walk miles and fight occasional creatures. Also, there is no fun exploring such a gigantic space with sparsely scattered locations of interest. Great depth, interesting characters, quirky places and loads to discover, this is quite simply one of the best games I've ever finished.

You can tell it was written by the guys who pretty much created the Fallout universe, as they fill it with love and care.

This game has an amazing, rich, explorable world that has many to offer. Every secondary quest seems meaningful and the reputation system is a great addition to its predecessor. Too bad that it has been released too early, and too bad that it has such a bad interface and combat mechanics. This is just for players that like great story and dialogue. For great fights, look elsewhere.

The story is inconsistent and filled with plot holes and plot killing moments(why would someone give a pip boy away, how in the world is a neurosurgeon out in the middle of nowhere? then, by incorporating an end to the game, they made modding a little difficult, and prevented modders from adding to the story line like they did for fallout 3. the redeeming aspects are hardcore mode and the crafting system. Although not as good as F3, New Vegas does come through in the end and make for a thrilling experience, it does everything just as good as F3 except for the story, which was lackluster, since the story didn't really blow my mind away, it gets 2 points less than F3.

    Viva New Vegas!

I loved Fallout 3, and dedicated 170 hours to the GOTY edition. I was hoping for more of the same from FNV and it pretty much delivered. While much is the same there have been some changes. The graphics have apparently been improved, although I didn’t really notice any difference (it looks a bit creaky by today’s standards, but is better than some from the same period).

The graphics have apparently been improved, although I didn’t really notice any difference (it looks a bit creaky by today’s standards, but is better than some from the same period). But the main changes relate to gameplay. F3 managed a perfect balance between RPG and shooter. For me, FNV leans a little too far in favour of the role-playing elements. There’s less combat and what combat there is isn’t quite as much fun as it was in F3. Also the main story is less engaging, with emphasis placed on the alliances you forge with the various factions along the way. I enjoyed this aspect of the game but would’ve liked more meat on the main storyline. That having been said all the elements that made F3 so good are still here. The Mohave Desert is another huge open world waiting to be explored. There are numerous quests to be enjoyed, and all the immersive qualities are still there.

A quick note about bugs: F3 was a bit buggy but FNV takes the cake on this score. In the 120 hours I spent playing the game it must have crashed 50 times or more. Save games fail to load as do maps on occasion. I even had a couple of NPCs go missing, one of which was a quest-giver (a side quest luckily). So be forewarned: it can be frustrating at times.

I prefer F3 to FNV: The story is not so interesting like in many other games. Do you remember how you began to walk as a baby in Fallout 3? This was a memorable idea, and here? The dialog system is as dumb as in F3. Just click almost everything and read. In addition I find it hard to play evil, it is as if the game is guiding you to play political correct = good.
Key word political correct. This game is gendered like Falout 3 already before. So yes you will see 50kg women fighting as good as men...just like in Hollywood propaganda.
The dialogs have low content, written for the mainstream. After some time in a dialog I was asking myself, what was the point? As if girls were talking to you.

Technically this game is another catastrophe like Oblivion and Fallout 3: Bugs, Crashes, low fps. Bethesda is not finishing their games, because they rely on the big modding scene to do their work, this is disgusting. The game loads very often also, what is annoying. The sound is like in Fallout 3, the same music. The graphics is also bad, even for a game from 2010.

The control of the PIP Boy is a nightmare. Low overview, many menus...console problem. Unacceptable. Because of this I didnt like to collect items, just did what was the fastest way.

Gameplay? level scaling, haha. You fight some scorpions as level 5 and as level 40 and in both cases the fight can be demanding.

What is good? Another big world to explore + great franchise. Yes the gameplay is slightly better than in F3, because you have several types of munition, you can craft and you can modify weapons. But overall the gameplay is too easy.

    Yes, FNV is overrated.

And the most important part is A LOT of communities in the Mohave(in F3 there was only 1(!!!)).
So you can be a good or evil i the wastelands, or somewhere in the middle, or you can stay alone and play Wild Card scenario. In Mohave you can be the person what you like cus this is Vegas )

The sixth installment in my favorite game series is an amazing game developed by Bethesda. With fantastic gameplay and amazing storyline, this game gives an extraordinary amount of game hours. Even with heavy fixing (mods, patches, bugfixes to "fix" the crashing and freezing, looping issues) it still randomly crashes every half hour or so. Its really irritating.

Things I've done to help fix some bugs:
-Applied NVAC - New Vegas Anti Crash fix
    -Applied YUP (Yukichigai Unofficial Patch)
    -Turned off all autosave functions
    -Ran game as Admin (Win7)

After doing all above, the game STILL constantly freezes, loops and crashes randomly.

Load a save file directly from the "Load Game" in Main menu causes it to loop the loading screen indefinitely. The solution to it is to start a New game then load a save file from there.

New Vegas is really fun, Trust me, but the stability issues are so severe and its keeping me from loving the game.

I had originally purchased the game on Steam through a Steam sale because it was extremely cheap and I figured why not, try something new with video games. For the longest time, I hated New Vegas, as I found the beginning levels far too hard to complete, resulting in me taking an extensive break from the game. During this break I decided to read up on the Fallout lore, etc. After about an entire 2 years of not playing the game, I decided to give New Vegas another chance, and boy was I glad I did so. What I did wrong my first time through was that I was flying through the quests far too quickly, disabling me from exploring the wasteland, appreciating the game for what it was, discovering secrets that could give me a little tactical boost, so I decided to change my approach on the game. The story alone is very intriguing, but for first time players, the expansive world and endless possibilities might be too much for one to take in if you are new to these type of games, but you sooner or later adjust, just as I did. While New Vegas may be a good game, whether that be combat wise or story wise, it does have its fair share of bugs. Through my PC playthrough of New Vegas, I experienced a total of 15-20 game crashes, but the causes I could never really determine, it was never something that was in the game. Any bugs that I did experience in game were never something to drop my everything I was doing and write it down so that I should remember the particular bug. All and all, New Vegas is a very good game, especially with the DLC that was released over time (but I recommend doing the DLC missions towards the end of the game when your character is MUCH higher in level). I would recommend that anyone who loves games where any decision you make can alter the story should play this game, preferably on consoles so that you don't have to experience the frequent game crashes, as I did. Fallout: New Vegas is hands down one of the best games I have ever played. It includes everything that was cool about Fallout 3 -- A great role-playing system, terrific gameplay mechanics, an enormous open world to explore and plenty of amusing characters to meet and bad guys to fight. Plus, you can get four DLC add-ons, each of which is a cool game unto themselves.

What it adds is one of the cleverest, most immersive storyline systems you'll find. Plenty of games have "moral choice" systems that alter the main storylines as you play it based on what you do, but Fallout: New Vegas includes four completely different main storylines, each of which can be completed in several different ways. There's also a "reputation" system that tracks how your character's actions affect their relations with the various different human survivor factions and settlements in the game -- and many of those groups are hostile to certain other groups. So doing a favor for one will likely make some others antagonistic. That in turn affects the options in the various storylines.

The result is that the game can be VASTLY different every time you play it -- not just different cut scenes but whole main sections playing out in entirely different ways. I've played through numerous times and it has never once gotten dull.

The PC version is best. There's a huge a modding community for this game, meaning whatever adaption or change you'd think might be fun to see in the game is probably already available for free.

The best Fallout in my opinion.
I always come back to NV when I have a post-apocalyptic itch to scratch.
I've beaten this game numerous times and I always do/say something slightly different than before that results in a different outcome. Years later when I play NV I'm still entertained; the sign of a great game. Well deserved 10/10 for me.

Fallout 4? More like Fallout bore, because compared to this game it's nothing. Fantastic music, characters, weapons, humor, lore, open world, stuff to discover, the mods, and the choices you can make are all the reasons this is the best game of 2010. Sure there are some bugs and the graphics are average but it's still a fantastic game.

Quality game and an excellent time sink. There are a few minor bugs here and there, but these can be forgiven in such a huge game and only involved minor sub-quests. Some of the DLC was a bit too wacky for my liking. I would prefer more focus on the wasteland and its hardships than dealing with aliens, or scientific experiments...

I borrowed this game from my uncle for the PS3 about 2 years ago and I got to the Goodsprings or Powder Ganger decision and I picked the Powder Ganger one on accident and then I said "man f*ck this why would you want to pick that, that's so stupid" and then I played Fallout 3 and really liked that. After I learned how the fallout formula worked I went back to Fallout New Vegas to play itI borrowed this game from my uncle for the PS3 about 2 years ago and I got to the Goodsprings or Powder Ganger decision and I picked the Powder Ganger one on accident and then I said "man f*ck this why would you want to pick that, that's so stupid" and then I played Fallout 3 and really liked that. After I learned how the fallout formula worked I went back to Fallout New Vegas to play it again. To put it simply. I have roughly 250 hours on the PS3 version and 180 hours on the PC version.

The reason why I have so many hours on this game and why it's my favorite game of all time is that it's a perfect RPG. A game that allows you to play almost however you want. Fallout 4 was a garbage RPG for these reasons: It didn't let you play as whatever you wanted. Fallout 4 was restricted with it's roleplaying. Had a voiced character and backstory. Fallout New Vegas DOESN'T have a voiced character. Fallout New Vegas DOESN'T have a character backstory. Fallout New Vegas DOES have great RPG elements.

I have 180 hours because of the replayability the game has because you can play as so many different things. Wanna be a goody two shoe character? You can. Wanna be a cruel despicable marauder? You can. Wanna be a flawed chem addict/alcoholic? You can. Wanna be a guy with an identity crisis that can't decide right from wrong and can't decide between NCR or Legion? You can.

I so far have had 4 playthroughs on the PC (Yes Man, Mr. House, NCR, and Legion playthroughs) and 6 PS3 playthroughs and I still can't get tired of this game (the only reason I don't play that often anymore is because I modded it to death and it crashes too often). If you've played Fallout 3, and never played 1-2 you'll probably like New Vegas. If you've played 1-2 and hate 3 you'll idolize New Vegas. If you liked Fallout 4, shame on you. If you hated Fallout 4 and want Obsidian to make the next one, you'll idolize New Vegas. If you love the Elder Scrolls series, you'll love New Vegas.

Although the game is my favorite game of all time it certainly has some flaws. The combat is clunky. The graphics are kinda ugly and the voice acting is very dull. The game crashes a lot and runs poorly like most Bethesda games but most of this can be fixed with mods.
Oh my god mods. Mods. There are SO MANY MODS FOR THIS GAME. And if you dislike almost anything in the game, mods are there for you baby.

    Final Verdict:
If you're a fan of RPG this will be the best game for you, but if you're looking for a shooty shooty game, I'd go for Fallout 4. New Vegas isn't for everybody but there is a special somebody for all of us, and for best of us, it's New Vegas.

    10/10 for sure

The downgrade on graphics are sad to be honest, I don't even know why, probably because they were rushed by Bethesda to get it finished or some other sh*t, I'm not even the first to cry about graphics but come on, it's 2 years newer than Fallout 3, they could've at least had the same. DLCs on the other hand are REALLY REALLY good. It also has an insane amount of weapons, which is really good and satisfying to see. Many clothing items on female characters look really stiff or better said manly, which is also a downgrade from Fallout 3. Being able to finally aim through iron sights was a good move though, a bit weird but better than the old zoom-in style.

There were an incredible amount of bugs in my time playing too. The main turnoff for me though was how barren it was. With it being a desert, the game wasn't really interesting unless you in a large town. The most boring part is tied with that which is walking from place to place. There are only annoying & hard enemies(Cazadors & deathclaws). There were some small areas here & there, but they weren't all that interesting apart from some unique dialogue & possibly a quest. I don't at all think this is a bad game, I think it is actually one of my favorites, I just don't think it is as good as people say it is. I have only played FO3, 4, & NV with 3 being my most favorite, & NV being my least. I could also talk about the graphics being trash, but is made on a 10 year old engine & is a 7 year old game. Then again, Crysis is from 2007 & looks miles better than this. It is a unpopular opinion, but I think NV is the worst post-bethesda fallout. Expand

Meaning that the people making it will be following the lore from previous games they've made that takes place in the wild desert of the western US.

The game does a beautiful job of giving the player freedom of choice, the option to skip it and do whatever they like. The world is a very creative take on the alternate future of the Mojave with different factions each having an in depth storyline. The gameplay has mostly held up, just point and shoot when it comes to combat. Sure it has aged but there is no real issue with it. The story is amazing along with the DLC each having a extremely deep lore. Even the DLC gives the player freedom of choice! Do you side with one or the other? Or do you kill them all? Thats the beauty of good quality fleshed out storytelling.

Overall Fallout New Vegas is a game I will always hold dear to my heart as a favorite game of all time. The game is very good and definitely worth picking up if you haven't played it.

Where Bethesda tried to force the Fallout franchise through the Elderscrolls formula, Obsidian went on and forced the Elderscrolls formula into a Fallout game.

Once more emphasis is on storytelling. It is on world building, on making choices feel like they have consequence. A step away from civil-war type patriotism, and towards a broken world with delicious choices not only black and white- but juicy shades of gray.

Yes, the graphics was even then aging, but that was perfectly fine. You were in the post apocalyptic Mojave desert- living in a world that took itself seriously enough to make fun of itself without making of itself a cliché. Expanding on the fallout world!

With this type of storytelling you may as well set the Brotherhood of Steel, Supermutant and whatnot aside. They will create new and just as exciting content for us- and it will make sense in the fallout universe. Imagine the world of the Legion, or their take on the Institute!

The only thing holding them back: the Elderscrolls formula.

With this game- I saw the promise of Fallout 3 come to fruition:
Imagine what may come of the next game! Then there was Fallout 4.

This is the best game out of the three ‘modern’ Fallouts. Obsidian has improved a lot of features which many Bethesda games often suck at, e.g. player choice, story, interesting NPCs and the added reputation system. Fallout: New Vegas is actually closer to Fallout 1 and 2 than to 3 and 4, and I love it. It's just a shame that its graphics and gunplay are so outdated, even for 2010 standards.

The thing that makes the game golden its is LORE and STORY the story is one of the best stories of Fallout! It shurely beats the stories that bethesda tries to tell in Fallout 3 , 4 and... "76". You choose your path your story your character everything. You have so much freedom that it's unimaginable on todays standars to be honest. I never saw a game TODAY with this much freedom for you character and story! You can kill practicaly everyone in New Vegas and it's so awesome to either be a straight up murdered that goes and kills everything or choose to do the opposite or what ever you wish.
Know let me start with the story il try not to spoil it il just say the basics.

You start off the game by getting shot in the head by a character and you are revived by a doctor in Goodsprings. You want to do you revenge twords him so you go around the wasteland and you will find out that there are 3 main factions that is the NCR ( New California Republic) , Ceasars Leagon and Mr House. You choose with which faction you wish to go practicaly with democracy, fascism/nazism or indipented vegas. The game will show how brutal humanity realy is and you will find even little or medium quests on other little factions that make the game even deeper!
After you choose your faction and do the story in the end you are in a battle of hover dam where you will decide what will happen to the other factions as well.

The story, the freedom of the world and your character keeps the game alive ( as well mods) so I totaly suggest giving this game a 9.
I cannot give this game a 10 because this game will love to crash sometimes and does have bugs that you have to fix which its annoying to do but when you atleast fix the majority you will enjoy this game allot!

Is some of the best RPG games I ever played, the liberty to do whatever you want to the main Courier is something that shows why Obsidian is still talented in giving a more detailed RPG game that Bethesda will ever reach. The story, the characters, the missions, every aspect of writing in this game is something fantastic and has a very deep dialogue from time to time. All the factions here are in a grey position, so they're not 100% good or 100% evil, everyone has their good and their flaws, and that is what we want in a RPG game.

However, this game has some flaws... and sadly are big ones, like the unexpected crashes from time to time, is something sad, because the game is awesome to play, but the crashing in it becomes annoying at times, making it impossible to play. And maybe the missions are so simple, but that's because of the lots of cut content that this game has because of the rushed development.

But I digress, this game is awesome, and everyone with a taste of RPG need to play it at least once, is some of the best RPG shooters out there and you definetly check it out.

My final rating for this game is a solid 9/10. Has a pretty solid gameplay, a variety of sidequest to make hours and hours of gameplay, and the replay capacity to do another decisions and routes, makes this game an awesome experience in the Mojave desert.

Greatest non linear RPG I have ever played. Choice matters. Who you are matters. How you tailor your character is absolutely your choice. In the wasteland there is nothing that compels you to good, nor evil. it is only you.

The best Fallout game ever. Obsidian polished Bethesda's game mechanics and created story more interesting than all Bethesdas's fallouts have.

One of the best RPGs ever made, best ARPG, and a modern classic. Simply put- a masterpiece. 10/10

Interesting story, great soundtrack, the game feels very real. And the dialogs - oh my God! Compared to Fallout 3 and especially F4 feels like whole another level.

The only thing that is not good - the engine, and therefore, the shooting mechanic. That's the only negative thing I can think of. If not that - game would be the greatest of them all.

This is the best 3d Fallout experience you can get. The other 3d games largely fell short in what I expected from a Fallout game, and undermined the lore, setting and expectations from a Fallout game so much that I cringe thinking about what the IP has become. It is amazing, how this game is pretty much Fallout 3 but feels totally different. Much more akin to the old, good, titles. Freedom, that's what this is about. Some nice local stories that you can get lost in. You pretty much need multiple playthroughs to experience what it has to offer. A lot of nice throwbacks or references to the old games. Still the best Fallout franchise game. Atmosphere is just great. Awesome OST, fantastic quests and good locations. Needs several graphic and gameplay DLCs in 2020.

Made by people that actually know what Fallout is. Shame they only had 14 months or so to make the dam thing.

But truth is... the game was rigged from the start.
Fallout: NV is a incredible game made by Obsidian. In term of storywise the game is awesome.
Only minus I can find is that rusty Bethesda engine.

Despite a lot of bugs, the story in the main episode and in the DLC makes the player immersed. Even after a few years, this game is one of my best games.

This game is legendary in its storytelling and variety of choices and endings. Easily one of my all time favorites. The exploration is one of its best elements. Voice acting is in the next level. The only downside is it is a little buggy.

With many improvements over the prior game, particularly in the game mechanics, Fallout New Vegas should deserve a higher score than its predecessor, however the plot and locale did not gel with me until my second or third playthrough and it just doesn't have that special place in my heart that Fallout 3 has. Still, an incredible game and one of my all time favourites.

A great rpg with many alternative paths to follow. With mods, it's easily the best game but it feels dated now.

This game probably has one of the best stories ever made on games. But the time was not good for this game, specially the graphics and gameplay. Let's remember that this was not finished also. Unplayable without mods, but worth a try if you can stand the cluncky gameplay. It's better than any fallout ever made btw

Fallout: New Vegas looks like an Add On to Fallout 3, but that should not mean, that it's a copy of its forerunner. It scores with an great atmosphere, nice story and all the typical and awesome Fallout features.
