It has undermined most of the elements that make up the game's fun. Only a few struggling aspects manage to barely hold the game together.

I'm fully immersed into the fallout world, everything is so genuine, every character and every story is so intriguing just like Fallout 3. Only flaw is that some side quests are similar and only wish is let next fallout release as soon as possible!

Fallout 4 was an improvement over 3 and a step up from New Vegas, but that was in graphics and systems.
As an open world, it's a step backwards from New Vegas and less than 3 in terms of immersion. Of course, the game isn't without its fun

Fallout 4 has a lot of technical issues, the fact that they didn't make the Protagonist an android( or at least openly) alone took a whole point out of my score... Squandered opportunity, this game could have been great...

Quick background on me the reviewer, I tend to like single player games that is heavy on narrative the most. Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I own a PC (built by me), Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, PS3, PS4, PS5, and a Switch. I prefer Playstation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the Gameinformer review scale and of course influenced by my personal opinions.

    (8) Very Good. Innovative, but perhaps not the right choice for everyone. This score indicates that there are many good things to be had, but arguably so.

Who knew exploring a radioactive wasteland can be fun. The Fallout series continues to do a great job with notable companions and NPCs. Just wish they didn't throw camp building and sanctuary missions at you constantly and that the story is arc isn't foreseen from the start. First person shooting has been improved to compared to previous entries of the series, but still could use some work. I also wish there were tough choices to make like previous Fallout games. Now we have a better looking waste land to explore while we wait for the next one.

I happen to have a special affection for the Fallout universe, I think it has a lot of potential to be explored and make a great game. But so far it has disappointed me a lot, I've already finished the game several times and spent several hours playing the game, I have few hours on this account because I even bought a GOTY digital key. The mods add a quality of life to this game that Bethesda has no excuse even for the year the game came out the lack of creativity to make a great story without the two games Fallout 3 and Fallout having the main quest to save some of your relatives. In terms of gameplay compared to previous franchises it's a huge downgrade, the perk system is a totally lazy and boring system "more modern and simple", nobody asked for it!
Yes, the Building Sims system is very funny, it brought diversity to the game, but it does not add new mechanics that add quality of life to the game, so much that it could have done with this game mechanic.
Combat in the game is very boring they could have improved it because it's still the same combat since the previous ones.
The difference between Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 is just the disk space it takes up because in terms of graphics it wasn't even an update and even that didn't manage to make a beautiful game for height.

It's even worse than Fallout 3 in some ways and I still haven't managed to finish it in years. So I don't think very good things about this game. If I manage to finish it, maybe I will change my review later.

    ---{ Story }---
The main story did not grip me. In the first 10 minutes of the game, your baby gets kidnapped, and your spouse is murdered. There is no time to develop a connection to these characters, the whole thing feels awkward, and forced, and i don't understand why i should care about these people. There is no time to develop a connection to these characters, the whole thing feels awkward, and forced, and i don't understand why i should care about these people. The extent of your opportunity to bond with your family boils down to getting chatted up by your spouse during character creation, and poking your baby to stop him crying. You adopt a dog shortly after venturing into the world, and honestly, i care more about this abandoned german shepherd than i do the baby. I cannot stress enough the shallowness of these interactions. You meet some more people later who seem a little more interesting.

    ---{ Gameplay }---
Solid, many improvements over FO3. Gunplay makes a bit more sense in the FPS era. I love the weapon customisation and the improvised feel of so many elements in this game. The way power armour is used in this game is so much better than in any previous, it functions a bit more like a vehicle, it's super creative. The perk system is a bit weird, but does make sense for Fallouts migration from RPG to action-RPG

    ---{ Graphics }---
Graphics are fantastic. The visual design of everything is spot on, with the only caveat being that it's a little too colourful.

    ---{ Audio }---
The sound design is excellent. The voice acting is mostly spot on. Your characters dialogue is pretty decent, some other characters less so, but the robots easily steal the show. The music is pretty good, although not on the same level as New Vegas.

    ---{ Difficulty }---
It's too easy on easy, but just tedious on higher difficulties (enemies become bullet-sponges). Survival difficulty is a very creative addition, and i recommend trying it at least once.

    ---{ Grind }---
This game can be very grindy, but it's not necessary for completion.

    ---{ Bugs }---
I've had one crash in 2 hours of gameplay. Could be a lack of hardware, could be a mod, could be a bug in the game. All are equally likely.
Frame-rate tanks in some areas of the game world.

    ---{ PC Requirements }---
Max settings on an i5-9600K and an RTX 2070 = constant 60fps.

    - Absolutely atrocious loading time, and the solution is unlocking FPS for it. What level of amateur programming is this?
    - Absolutely shtty tutorial, in the first playthrough I didn't know what VATS and never used it can you believe it? Because they never told you how to trigger it, or maybe it did with a 3-second laughable text prompt.
    - Abysmal open-world programming. The developer just wasn't paying enough attention. They do have in mind how they want you to play, so if you don't follow their expectation, you'll get hilarious bugs.

I hoped that they would remake this game, but given that it's Bethesda, they would only break this game. So never mind.

Nice graphics and gameplay. The story was a bit weird but it was still nice. Didn't know it was RPG when I first got it but fell in love with the genre ever since I played this game, same goes for the music on the radio. Can't wait to try the mods.

The added things you can also get with mods really bump the game up. If there was no support for mods and I could only play the vanilla version, then this would be a 6/10 maybe a light 7.

I also don't feel as excited to explore as much I as did in previous Bethesda games. For me personally, the empty and dead wasteland isn't an appealing thing to explore. My sense of wonder is gone and I stick to quests and maybe some settlement building to have fun. Whereas with previous BGS titles, I could mess around the world doing anything and still have fun. Hours could go by and I wouldn't have done a single quest, I'd just be exploring and finding whatever shenanigans I could get myself into.

All in all, I would recommend this game but I would recommend getting it on PC. Just so you have full access to any mods like in Nexus mods, and not limited to the select mods that Bethesda has greenlit through creation club on consoles. I would be hesitant to recommend this title in it's vanilla form.

2nd best Fallout game because the choices are very limited and there are many game breaking bugs like an NPC just doesnt talks to you in a quest and you cant finish that quest. Other than that the game is very above an average game and made improvements in every way to Fallout 3.

This game brings the core elements from New Vegas and Fallout 3, but it takes the game in a completely new direction with the addition of the settlement building system. The mods alongside the settlement system result this game being the best overall Fallout game of the series.

After terrible first couple of hours Fallout 4 pulled itself together and ultimately was almost as fun as The Witcher 3. There’s a huge chasm between these two games in terms of technology (F4 looks like a X360 game), but their open worlds are equally good and Bethesda did a better job with crafting. [01/2016, p.42]

This isn’t the step forward I expected, though. Here we are, the first Bethesda game on a new hardware generation, and I can’t help feeling like we’ve regressed—like Fallout 4 really is Oblivion-with-guns. A decade later, it certainly makes many of the same mistakes.

It’s easy to get carried away by Fallout 4’s massive open world. While the gunplay is much improved and the quests fun, I found the UI lacking on the PC. The inventory and build menus are really tedious to use. [Dec 2015]
