Despite the potential that Fade to Silence has, there is no denying that this is a bad game. It suffers from poor game play, poor development, lack of polishing, a useless narrative, unbalanced difficulty, a lack of focus, outrageous levels of repetition, the problems with this game just go on and on. However, this doesn’t change one thing. I had a ton of fun with this game. The $49.99Despite the potential that Fade to Silence has, there is no denying that this is a bad game. But for a second, imagine that really god awful movie, that you love to death because of how fun that movie was to watch. That was Fade to Silence for me. Expand

Cool survival game in a very interesting atmosphere. Like a lot the dog sled, blizzard and snow tornados.

Good survival/horror game with good atmosphere and story. It has also co-op. Even if you are not a survival or a horror fan it is highly likely that you are going to like this game.

There are a lot of games out there that I purchase and don't end up liking. But, generally, I see how someone else might enjoy them and therefore do not feel jilted. Not so with Fade to Silence, this game is an abortion.

Here are the highlights: A lot of systems but none feel meaningful or enjoyable. The setting is boring. Add to that their take on rogue-like games--none of the fun

Add to that their take on rogue-like games--none of the fun or the intensity, just tedium--and their take on "soulsborne" combat--hit, step, recharge, rinse and repeat, only danger coming from the poorly implemented camera--and I want my money back.

My wife and daughter were out of town and I spent a whole weekend trying to get into this game. I want that time back as well.

After the patches the game improved drastically.

Great atmosphere, great feeling of "you against the wilderness". The blizzards look and feel absolutely GREAT. A little unforgiving when it comes to enemies destroying you but...hey! It's survival. I enjoyed the rogue-like elements it has.

    Voice acting could be better.

If you like survival games definitely give it a try.

It's good and super sweet but it's not, cuz it crashes. Devs couldn't make it work so they published a broken game. At the current state, you should NOT buy it. Wait for a few patches or smth, because of its still early access game or don't buy it at all cuz the devs just lost out trust.

This game is garbage. More like an alpha than a final release.

    - My workers are always sleeping - I can not tell my workers to go hunt or mine because they are always sleeping (Seriously like they never wake up.... all 3 of them sleep 24 hours a day) - My workers never show up when I add them to my party - My daughter is saying she is always hungry even though there is plenty of

    - The dog sled is absolutely useless and buggy

    - The fighting mechanics are pretty low end
    - Zero guidance or help offered in game...
(God forbid you want to look up what an icon means)

I wouldn't recommend buying this if it was free to play.... No lie...

Big Budget Studio uses Unity3D. I am sure this game will be great.... oh yes, its unity and runs like garbage.

Not rewarding at all. Every aspect of the game feels clunky. I was bored 6, 60, and 600 minutes into it. GTFO my computer..

Didn't expect to but am really enjoying the game after the first 10h or so of game play.

The voice acting is horrific, but the mix of elements in the game works well (playing exploration only because I expected to send this back after a cursory examination)

This is not the best the gaming industry has to offer, if I'm being honest. First of all, it has a ton of bugs - sever ones, too. But despite all these, there is something here. An idea, a beginning, something that kept pulling me back for more. And i see a lot of reviewers who criticized it say they too spend a long time playing it. Maybe in the future they could polish a sequel and make it something really spectacular. And damn, it just looks so pretty.

This is an interesting game to review. I've used this before in other reviews, but it's basically a "Piranha Bytes" game. If you're familiar with the endearing jank of games like Gothic and Risen, you'll understand what's going on here. So, here's the break down

Pros: -Engaging gameplay loop: Go outside, gather, head back, go outside, expand to an outpost, head back. Rinse and repeat.

    Pros:
-Engaging gameplay loop: Go outside, gather, head back, go outside, expand to an outpost, head back. Rinse and repeat.
-Pacing. Every area has just the right amount of required materials to keep you going.
-Stakes. It's been loosened up pretty substantially from the early access, but the game does have permadeath (but gives you plenty of chances)
-Crafting. It's not in-depth crafting like an Atelier game, but everything has a purpose to be made and there's just enough going on to make you wonder if you'll have enough.
-Useful followers. Could just be me, but I like fewer followers that do specific things than a village full of people that contribute to a pool of usefulness
    -Doggos

    Cons:
-Bugs. Bugs for days! From physics glitches, to loading loops, to CTDs, there's a bug for everyone.
-Jumping. There's a point in the game where you have to use this and never really needed to in that way before that suuuucks.
-Lack of dev support? I haven't seen much since launch, but with so many bugs there should really be some hotfixes. Seriously, I died twice because my wolves' physics janked out and I flew off a ledge.

    Passable stuff:
-Voice acting. Sometimes the voice acting is done really well, and other times it's just soulless. Which, may be the point sometimes.
-Combat. Combat is real basic. Normal attack, heavy attack, dodge. Sometimes basic controls work when they are used in more than one way, but really it's just a game of heavy attack and dodge played on repeat. Also, I think there are only 4 enemy types with a couple mid-game palette swaps.

So, take all that how you will. In spite of the flaws, I loooooved this game. It just scratched an itch. Think "Risen" meets "The Long Dark" and you'll have a pretty good idea of what's going on. Could it use some fixes? Good lord yes. But, a game doesn't have to be perfect to be enjoyable.

Worth noting is I got this on a 50% off sale. That's probably about the right price in my opinion.

I was not interested in the game. I do not know why. Played for an hour and turned it off. It just wasn't fun to play. Visually, the game was also not impressive (although the screenshots were interesting, because of them I decided to play).

Its a great game dont let peoples grumpy opinions change your mind from trying this out. Nobody is pleased with games these days so they just rant and pick apart the games at a cellular level amd just review bomb everything. Professional reviewers especially are the bane of good video games nowadays as well.

This could be a halfway decent addition to the ever-growing number of open world survival adventures. But certain design decisions like permadeath (which even From Software stayed away from) keep it from escaping mediocrity.

Fade To Silence is a game that pushes all the right buttons, but it doesn’t push some of them quite hard enough. In a survival game, it’s important for hostile threats to be just as important as the resource gathering, management, and base building. The idea is there, the environment is there, but the mechanics are only half there when one half is a rather addictive base management system and the other half is overly simplistic combat.

There are some positives, such as brilliant atmosphere, cool environment and interesting setting. But the negatives far outweigh them. Design mistakes, poorly thought-out features and absolutely atrocious combat consistently ruin any potential for having fun.
