Welcome to doom 2016, a game with a bit more than decent artstyle and a very reptitive gameplay.
I'll point out some general things:
1.repetition - the game is painfully repetitive. you'd be doing the same things over and over again more than you asked for too much too early. 2.plot - As you would expect, the story is there just as an excuse for the game to have some story. nothing

2.plot - As you would expect, the story is there just as an excuse for the game to have some story. nothing really interesting about the plot.

3.artstyle - the artstyle is almost great and fits to doom's hellish theme, although when you kill demons they drop candy crush items which bugged me

4.cashgrab - as soon as you click on the multiplayer mod you'd get an ad on the menu to buy more stuff for you experience.

5.graphics - overall nice looking game with everything on ultra but even then you'd notice low res textures.

6.sound - almost good but not quite there in my personal opinion.

overall its a decent game but wasn't my cup of tea. I sent a refund request.

In desperate need of an update. This game seems to really despise running well. Frequent crashes, horrible frames per second and most of the time it doesn't even load. I have tried everything to get it working and it never works. I have much bigger games on my PC but this one doesn't even want to live.

You get a scripted scene for every little thing in this game. Pickup a new weapon and the game showcases you the gun for like 5 seconds until you can move again, you open a door and you watch a scripted animation of the player opening the door and ofc while this all is happening, you can't do anything :/
There are perks too, yes guys you get perks which give you ability to know where all secrets are etc and most of the pickups come only through glorykilling and thus game forces you to glorykill. Forexample
ammo is ridiciolously low (20 max for shotgun) and this forces the player to use glorykill system to get more ammo. You can't fail in this game since the AI enemies are dead stupid and just stand still when you shoot them. You have a locked door in your face and the keycard is "hidden" right 100 meters next to it in a oneway cave. Seriously?

Yes, it's a console game through and thoroughly. So I can't recommend this under any circumstances since it's not a Doom game and most definitely not a PC game either. 0/10

The most boring FPS in a long while. The action is too far between all the puzzles and platform jumping. When I do encounter monsters they are indistinguishable with each other and ridiculously easy to kill. Weapons feel too weak.

Doom by name only, I'm old enough to remember the original Doom.
It was phenomenal for it's time.

The original Doom was not about achievements or DLCs, the game play enough was what made it fun. It was also mostly a closed kind of tunnel'ish game where you didn't know what was going to be around the next corner. This version is more about large often outdoors areas.

Then there is the multi-player. That is if you can find someone else to play with. Here about a year later from release and the the server(s) are pretty much dead.
Also in the original Doom there was no concept of level. Here you are everyone's **** until you play up in levels because the level 50 people will stomp you. In the original you could just jump right in on an equal footing and it was your skill that made the difference.

It's too bad John Ramero and John Carmack have long since left Id where they could have made a proper remake..

I'm glad I bought at the bargain bin price..

The save system absolutely sucks with checkpoints instead of quick saves and reloads and hard saves, This can be very exasperating when you are engaged in a difficult part requiring perfect jumps and numerous enemies with distant checkpoints forcing you waaaay back to the previous checkpoint and starting all over. That was the final straw that caused me to joyfully dump this turkey into the trash can.

I loved Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil and Doom BFG. Very nice combinations of horror and FPS. ID should have stuck to that and improved on it but no, they came up with this borefest. Along with that stupid game, Rage, Doom 2016 will be another game I will never bother to play again. At least I finished Rage.

Its your basic run and gun with very little story. Its like the devs feel that there is no need for a story because the fan base already knows what to do. Mars has been invaded by demons, go kill them and get the station working again.

I have reinstalled this game twice and just can't get into it. I didn't finish it the first time and probably won't this time. Sorry devs, I won't be buying the iteration.

The Ultimate Doom (Hate it that i need to call it this way to differentiate now) is a product of combining all of the geek culture into one dark sci-fi fantasy, on the other hand, 2016-version is just selling us the cultural idea of this distant game that grabbed all the popularity back in the 90's. Yeah remember doom guy? He's cool, he can shoot stuff, but also can do a fist-bump with i miniature version of himself, isn't that cool? That's just pathetic.
Anyway, what's the deal with qte-style finishers? Whole game is based on them, so you need to go out of your way to avoid them. And this is just sad that we got perfectly fine wolfenstien soft-reboot prior to this game. And it's really weird how every other fps published by Bethesda is at least ok, even the new quake champions.
So in conclusion, i don't get all the hype at all, even 3 years later.

The gameplay is some of the best in years. Unfortunately, they have the most awful save system that I have ever seen in a game... DRM for your save files. And they can get corrupt. Completely lost ALL of my progress due to the files becoming corrupt.

What is that about the locked doors and need to survive each time until everything is dead than opens up... That's not what doom 1, 2 was about. Then those melee fights to get life... pffff I don't get it. Weapons feel flat no reloads because yeah you know it's a button to much for the kids let's just auto reload when walking over ammo... just take the shotgun it is so far of the feeling it has from doom 1,2, duke nukem or even Serious Sam.

Seems like those who love the game that so much actually are not from the older times where we played 100's of hours playing doom and especially doom 2. How many times I had a jump inside those was incredible as it was never expected... here you know it's gone be full until everything is erased and move on...so boring.

You'll find none of that in the 2016 Doom. The formula: wander around aimlessly for awhile until you accidentally find yourself in a new area, get locked into an arena-style room that you can't escape until you kill all the monsters. Repeat, repeat again, and just keep repeating over and over and over.

The gameplay is kinda like Painkiller, only more generic. The graphics are okay, but there are some pretty low-res textures in here that look like something from 10 years ago. The environments are static and noninteractive. The music is generic tech-metal stuff that's completely forgettable. Could they have not used even one track from the original? The game's atmosphere and setting are cheesy and overwrought, nothing like the true terror that the originals and even Doom 3 managed to evoke. It's almost like it's an unfunny joke version of Doom, I mean Painkiller, I mean Smash TV, I mean generic crap that seems to copy the core elements of their gameplay yet falls far short of being anywhere near as fun as those games.

Oh, I hope you like jumping puzzles. Yes, an FPS with jumping puzzles. This idea sucked in Turok, 20 years ago, and it sucks just as bad, if not worse, in Doom. Instead of allowing you to save whenever you want like in every other Doom game, you get a checkpoint system. Really? The difficulty is highly inconsistent. Some battles are just a breeze, then others are irritatingly drawn out too hard. I didn't try it on the lower difficulty settings, since it would mostly be too easy, but the higher settings are where you run into this inconsistency.

The multiplayer is bland and lackluster. It's nowhere near as good as Unreal Tournament (any version, take your pick) or Quake 3. I'd rather play Battlefield or Call of Duty, and that's not saying much since that style of gameplay has been done to death, but then so has Doom's. It was cool in Serious Sam, but somehow Doom manages to miss even that mark.

    What a letdown.

The limitations of controller input have, over time, made shooter gaming on console a certain way. It features slow-speed, simplistic double-jumps rather than high skill strafejumping, weapon load-outs, no weapon drops, crouch toggling, a progression system where you can actually get better with unlocks over time, damage numbers popping up, scripted melee executions, a weak rocket launcher, paid map-packs/seasons pass DLC.. These are the elements of simplistic console gamer world, akin to the low-skill environment the TV+Console+Controller gamer plays within.

So in reality, what happened is that id software, once a PC first company, has in fact become a PC second company - and that's because there is more money to be made from casuals than from the hardcore. This is okay right? - I mean Bungie does it, EA does it, Activision does it.. but Id Software was the grand daddy of them all - revered for its unabashed persistence in delivering PC-focused titles since they gave birth to the entire genre on PC in the 90's. The issue many of us have is that Id Software sold out. They lost all the creative minds that were unafraid to be non-committal with shipping dates so they could get the game out how they liked it, they were unafraid to make games that wouldn't appeal to the XBOX/Playstation kids, because they weren't making games for huge sums of profit so much as making games for the love of the game. We all took pride in that. We all understood the superiority of mouse-input over controller input and what it allowed us to achieve in game. If you pitted the very best players of console against even average players on the PC they would be bathing in the blood of console gamers. The disparity is real.

We didn't want Id Software to capitulate, to pander and change their core from PC to Console, but they did - and they didn't even bother to give us a PC version that differed in any way to the console version. It's simply ported over with some advanced graphical settings. The entire online experience plays like Halo - and I have categorically zero interest in playing a casual console shooter on my PC. If you want to look to a AAA title in the shooter department that satisfies PC gamers, it's not DOOM, it's Overwatch.
