    Most overrated and boring shooter in recent memory. Combat has zero depth, has poor balancing considering 2 weapons supershotgun and guass cannon break the game and is mind numbing repetitive. I see people claim this game has good story which is absurd.

    Game is utter trash on Nightmare and all the real challenges are pure cheese cancer, some mods are so trash you never use them, literally super shotgun, ballista combo carries you so hard it is not even funny, weird bugs and glitches that soft lock you, whoever created the marauder should put a shotgun in their mouth

    Gameplay: Pure shovelware garbage - I'm really sorry for anyone that thinks the gameplay of this game is good, I really am.

    Level Design: Rushed, uninspired, tedious - Doom(1993) has better level design than this

    Graphics: You know what? If you like good graphics and don't care about gameplay, buy this game!

    Sound: The sound is really dull, there is too much **** in your headphones when playing this, all you need is music(metal), gun sounds and enemy sounds. The soundtrack to this is pretentious metal, I dont give a f*** who wrote the music, I don't give a f*** what his artist rating is, the soundtrack is boring and annoying.

    Bottom line: pretentious shooter, abusing the name of DOOM, reviewers were paid and the kids love it because they don't know any better. I'm only 18 if you are wondering, you dont have to be a "boomer" to know good games from bad games :)    … Expand

    В общем, скажу так: дум мне не понравился. И я не буду скрывать причин, не понравился он мне потому что единственный дум, в который я игра до этого был дум3. И от дум2016 я ожидал примерно того же самого, а именно: атмосферность, хорор, внятный сюжет. И этим мне дум3 ПОнравился. Но получил я по итогу не дум, а сериус сэма в сеттинге дум. Сериус сэм мне НЕ понравился. И не одной его части яВ общем, скажу так: дум мне не понравился. И я не буду скрывать причин, не понравился он мне потому что единственный дум, в который я игра до этого был дум3.     I was disappointed.
    Weapons feel and sound boring and un-cool.
    Jumping was ok-ish but also very dull. Difficulty is only high due to low ammo capacity which is annoying. U need to constantly switch weapons -> annoying. Puzzles are dull and u guessed it -> annoying. Every secret shows on the map. You only need to go there and find the way to it. It's not the Doom I once played and    I was disappointed.

    The game is boring and repetitive. I don't understand why the rating is so high to such not interesting game. No plot at all. Maybe for first Doom in 1993 it was okay because game dev. was limited , but for now days it's not playable at all.

    doom 2016 has one of the best ost's I have ever heard in my life and the fact that the music stops playing is so frustrating and mind boggling

    Their is no reason what so ever to buy a game for $80 install all the drivers and updates and find out your Bluetooth Airpods ( That work with every game, movie and song on your computer) do not work with Doom Eternal. I spent 2 hours trying to troubleshoot the game. Listen, I am not paying $80 to trouble shoot THEIR game. My Airpods work fine with the latest Resident Evil 3 demo releaseTheir is no reason what so ever to buy a game for $80 install all the drivers and updates and find out your Bluetooth Airpods ( That work with every game, movie and song on your computer) do not work with Doom Eternal.     I'm so glad I refunded this, not because of just the audio but the other reviews are kind of an eye opener of what was to come after this first problem.

    "All you do is paa pew baam boom! What's the point? It's waste of time!" is what my father used to say about shooters when I was a kid and I would always have argument about there being more than that but if he said that for this game I'd have to agree because DOOM 2016 is just another mind-numbing title in DOOM series.

    I found the game boring, it is all about its shooting gameplay, but I found the design of this gameplay aspect lacking and not captivating

    It seems that I grew up from the age when I was interested in shooting at targets that do not show any resistance. Doing this in monotonous small indoor arenas is doubly boring. The plot written on the knee does not contribute to the player’s retention for a long time.

I know it's not really fair to compare this one to the original, but what the hell, they slapped the title on the game. The Ultimate Doom (Hate it that i need to call it this way to differentiate now) is a product of combining all of the geek culture into one dark sci-fi fantasy, on the other hand,The blandest game i saw in years since modern-military shooter craze started to fade-away. I know it's not really fair to compare this one to the original, but what the hell, they slapped the title on the game. Yeah remember doom guy? He's cool, he can shoot stuff, but also can do a fist-bump with i miniature version of himself, isn't that cool? That's just pathetic.
    Anyway, what's the deal with qte-style finishers? Whole game is based on them, so you need to go out of your way to avoid them. And this is just sad that we got perfectly fine wolfenstien soft-reboot prior to this game. And it's really weird how every other fps published by Bethesda is at least ok, even the new quake champions.
    So in conclusion, i don't get all the hype at all, even 3 years later.    … Expand

    I actually tried to like this game and I have been following Doom from its first release back in the day. It was a novelty because of the 3D settings that most games back then didn't have.

    At present, I find Doom 2016 very repetitive and gets more boring as it progresses.     Its your basic run and gun with very little story. Its like the devs feel that there is no need for a story because the fan base already knows what to do. Mars has been invaded by demons, go kill them and get the station working again.

    I have reinstalled this game twice and just can't get into it. I didn't finish it the first time and probably won't this time. Sorry devs, I won't be buying the iteration.    … Expand

    I was there, when original doom was published and liked it (a bit, duke nukem was much better) playing the game with my 386 dx PC.

    Forgot to mention the damn crapy music. It's a kind of hard rock music soundtrack but goodness, it's not even good (hard rock is not my cup of tea but I enjoy some metallica n co.).
    Under scoring the game to balance the fake positive review here, deserves a 6-7.
    Play Shadow Warrior 2 instead : fun, fast but Much more interesting.    … Expand

It also feels like a Quake game and not a genuine Doom game, only the soundtrack feels Doom-ish, everything else is pretty alien.     Worst game ever. 2k18 checkpoints. You just kill monster die if you jump wrong side. And walking walking walking.
    I don't understand why people like this.
    I playd many indie games and always I can find something interesting but here I don't see anything to love this game.

    This would be an ok game but for the POS checkpoint save, what dumbass thought that would be a good idea for pc game. It woudn't be so bad but there are so few of them and at stupid points in the game. I played the original when it came out and loved it and the sequel but this is just ruined by a bad decision that makes the game so damn frustrating and unecessarily drawn out. It might notThis would be an ok game but for the POS checkpoint save, what dumbass thought that would be a good idea for pc game. It woudn't be so bad but there are so few of them and at stupid points in the game.     A friend of mine was soo eager to show off Doom. And i was actually kind of curious about it. I remember having played Doom as a little kid .. the blocky Doom that looks like Minecraft. Now it was tremendous fun watching my friend play Doom! .. He was totally into it, and he loved it (well, he forgot i was sitting next to him) .. but when i played    Not for the casual player, i think.

    Now it was tremendous fun watching my friend play Doom! .. He was totally into it, and he loved it (well, he forgot i was sitting next to him) .. but when i played it .. it was terrible. Too fast, I could not concentrate on how the game actually looked, cause it was just really, really stressful.

    So .. watching someone else play is a 8/10 ... playing myself was at best a 4/10 .. no fun at all.

    Then again, since i am more into puzzle and adventure games .. that "might" be a reason i didnt like Doom .. go figure    … Expand

You'll find none of that in the 2016 Doom. The formula: wander around aimlessly for awhile until you accidentally find yourself in a new area, get locked into an arena-style room that you can't escape until you kill all the monsters. Repeat, repeat again, and just keep repeating over and over and over.

    The gameplay is kinda like Painkiller, only more generic. The graphics are okay, but there are some pretty low-res textures in here that look like something from 10 years ago. The environments are static and noninteractive. The music is generic tech-metal stuff that's completely forgettable. Could they have not used even one track from the original? The game's atmosphere and setting are cheesy and overwrought, nothing like the true terror that the originals and even Doom 3 managed to evoke. It's almost like it's an unfunny joke version of Doom, I mean Painkiller, I mean Smash TV, I mean generic crap that seems to copy the core elements of their gameplay yet falls far short of being anywhere near as fun as those games.

    Oh, I hope you like jumping puzzles. Yes, an FPS with jumping puzzles. This idea sucked in Turok, 20 years ago, and it sucks just as bad, if not worse, in Doom. Instead of allowing you to save whenever you want like in every other Doom game, you get a checkpoint system. Really? The difficulty is highly inconsistent. Some battles are just a breeze, then others are irritatingly drawn out too hard. I didn't try it on the lower difficulty settings, since it would mostly be too easy, but the higher settings are where you run into this inconsistency.

    The multiplayer is bland and lackluster. It's nowhere near as good as Unreal Tournament (any version, take your pick) or Quake 3. I'd rather play Battlefield or Call of Duty, and that's not saying much since that style of gameplay has been done to death, but then so has Doom's. It was cool in Serious Sam, but somehow Doom manages to miss even that mark.

    The original Doom was not about achievements or DLCs, the game play enough was what made it fun. It was also mostly a closed kind of tunnel'ish game where you didn't know what was going to be around the next corner. This version is more about large often outdoors areas.

    Then there is the multi-player. That is if you can find someone else to play with. Here about a year later from release and the the server(s) are pretty much dead.
    Also in the original Doom there was no concept of level. Here you are everyone's **** until you play up in levels because the level 50 people will stomp you. In the original you could just jump right in on an equal footing and it was your skill that made the difference.

    It's too bad John Ramero and John Carmack have long since left Id where they could have made a proper remake..

    What is that about the locked doors and need to survive each time until everything is dead than opens up... That's not what doom 1, 2 was about. Then those melee fights to get life... pffff I don't get it. Weapons feel flat no reloads because yeah you know it's a button to much for the kids let's just auto reload when walking over ammo... just take the shotgun it is so far of the feeling it has from doom 1,2, duke nukem or even Serious Sam.

    Seems like those who love the game that so much actually are not from the older times where we played 100's of hours playing doom and especially doom 2. How many times I had a jump inside those was incredible as it was never expected... here you know it's gone be full until everything is erased and move on...so boring.

    Even Doom 3 feels better than this OVERRATED crap.    … Expand

    If you miss Doom, you miss what I anticipate to be one of two most important first person shooters of 2016. The classic returns in great shape, with all its vital elements intact. Give the campaign some time to pick up speed and it will pump your veins full of adrenaline. [07/2016, p.38]
