    Ignore the folks who are review bombing it -- this is a great game.

    Yes, it's a visual novel with tactical RPG battles. If you don't like reading, it's ok to not play it. If you *do* like reading, though, the dialogue and story are great.

    If you don't like orange, don't order orange juice. This is a visual novel, which is a pretty niche genre. If loads of dialogue annoy you, this game simply isn't for you.
    However, if you enjoy Digimon and a pretty good story with (some) decent characters, take it. It's an amazing visual novel and an amazing Digimon game.

    Great comeback of digimon after so long without a game, the game has gorgeous menu design and a good battle system. The VN part of the game at the start can be slow but its more interesting with time.
    Dont recommend it if you arent a fan of VN tho

    Great game. It was correctly advertised as a vn, and i bought it knowing that, because i greatly enjoy them and it's a very well made one.

    I would give it 7.5 (maybe a bit more).
    The 10 is to compensate those who vote 0 because "It's a VN". Honestly...the developers said 1 MILLION TIMES that this game was 75% VN and 25% SRPG, so if you don't like VN, why buy it??? Anyway...the story is good (with a couple of translation errors and some cheesy dialogue here and there), and i really liked the dark tone in    This is not a 10.
    I would give it 7.5 (maybe a bit more).

    Great visual novel with an affinity and karma aspect. The combats are nice,not great, but its a breeze of fresh air from the VN gameplay.
    Dont review bomb it just cause you didnt knew what you were buying.

    After finish the Game (now NG+) I think its a really good Game, and have a lovely and nice Story. I think the Game dont deserve that low Score, guess its review Bombing again lmao. Anyway, the Story is really good and gave me all the Time the feeling of enjoying a good Anime/Movie. So the Atmosphere is really nice, i enjoy it alot. The Combat, is fine. I think its enjoyable.

    Game is great. Fun srpg-style battle system and a surprisingly mature, well-told story with likeable characters. A few lol-worthy reviews saying that they think this game has too much dialogue when it’s been advertised as largely a visual novel for a huge portion of development. Yes the visual novel has a lot of words.

    I like it, They say the game was like 70% visual novel since the first announcement and the story is fantastic, it's not a 10/10 because I found some minor text issues but nothing too wrong.
    If you like Devil Survivor and Digimon you should play it

    Digimon survive is a great mix of a visual novel with a tactical rpg it is a story about survival and features memorable characters charming Digimon great gameplay and it's just a shame some people don't understand what it is and it's getting review bombed

    The game is great, ignore the negative reviews. They are made by people who clearly dislike reading. This is a visual novel so of course it's going to be text heavy, and that is a good thing since the story is one of the best aspects of Digimon Survive.

    This game is more like the Animes and an amazing comeback for the series!

    This is my favorite recent Digimon game so far. It is in a visual novel format, and it works so well with the story and world they've designed. You unlock free battle pretty early on so you aren't dependent on story beats to get a battle fix in, and it has a pretty well-done auto battle system for when you want to grind but not be fully alert.

    I don't want to make a very big text, but I'm really repressed with so many negative reviews, I'd even say it's just one person with multiple accounts.
    The biggest complaints come from the fact that the game is a soap opera, but the company made it clear that it would be and complaining is lack of attention before buying or watching trailers.

    Great game, a compelling story and a solid tactical combat system. Yes, it's a Visual Novel, as they said a hundred times and, if you don't like it, well, go play another game. But if you give Digimon Survive a chance, you'll find a great game.

The story is biblical. The combat is well made and brilliantly designed. The graphics made me cry due to their beauty when I first saw them. It looks better than a handcrafted painting from Leonardo Da Vinci. The physics are beyond lifelike.

    There is no multiplayer. That is not a problem, because the replay value of this game more than makes up for it. Another great quality of this game is that, all of the characters speak in their original Japanese voice actors, and yet the devs still only charged 60 dollars for this art piece. This incredible generosity enlightens me. I recommend this game to all my friends, family, and more.    … Expand

    If you like visual novels you will like this game. If you like strategy RPG combat. You will like this game. If you are only here for the combat though, this might be a tough sell. The game has a wonderful horror element and the story telling is excellent paired with the strategy combat.

    An excellent Digimon game that understands what Digimon is. The evolution system is not only great from the tactical gameplay but also the story itself. You’re choices do have impact on what endings are possible and who survives. I want this to a whole new series of Digimon games

If you don't like that then just ignore, if you do like it you have 4 paths to get lost in depending on choices and a decent cast to get invested in. The game plays out almost as an interactive anime.     This is exatly what i was waiting for. Touchful dramatic story that make me cry a lot. Most emotional digimon game i ever see. I can't believe that people would hate it so bad because of genre.

    What did people expect when they buy this game? It's a visual novel and not a shooter, the story is great with some unexpected turns. The most negative "reviews" are the ones that don't know what they buy, they would cry when they buy a book because it has words in it.

    The art and music are absolutely gorgeous: it's like watching a new season of the anime, following similar story beats including fun climactic battles and as advertised the game is mostly visual novel whereas the battles take a more conclusive role to some story arcs.

    The game takes the character archetypes Adventure layed out as well as the narrative mysteries and twists them into interesting new variations, providing a more realistic take on the setting of seven kids getting lost in another world with monsters. The result is something like Lord of the Flies, where the kids constantly argue and some even start to lose their grip on reality. It's refreshingly raw for the Digimon franchise and goes to some unexpectedly dark places in the storytelling.

If you've paid any attention to the game closer to release you would know it is a visual novel with battles and if you bought it without knowing that, it is very much you're own fault for not looking into what you are buying as it was very easy to find info.     The story is great. Love the Bioware-esque consequence system. People complaining about genre should just go back and play that kind of game if that's what they're looking for.

    This is an amazing survival game with aspects of strategy combat included. I love how the decisions I make feel like they're making a real impact on the world. The wait for the game was worth it

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very dark, story focused game, with tactical RPG elements on the side. The prologue and even first few parts are kind of a slog, but once you get to part 3, the writing really picks up. The best way I can summarize it is if the OG digimon anime was made for a more mature audience, as it has the almost exact same set-up, (7-8 kids at a summer camp get teleported to the digital world, and while trying to survive and go back home they learn they need to save the world) just with much darker themes and events. Characters all seem decently fleshed out, although some more than others, especially in certain playthroughs. Music is good, but can get repetitive after the nth time hearing it. Karma system, while not deep, is simple to grasp; both how to use, and how it affects the story/gameplay. The twists in the story actually surprised me, particularly in the wrathful route, although I won't say how or why. If all you want is a game like Cybersleuth, don't get this. The Tactical gameplay isn't very deep if you don't want it to be, but you can definitely use the tools the game gives you in creative ways, especially the in battle digivolution, which I feel is the best part about the combat. If you don't like to get invested into characters, and read lots of additional and/or forced dialogue just for the fun of it, it probably isn't for you. This game seems like a completionists nightmare or wet dream, depending on how you look at it, as after almost every story beat you can look around and find items, extra battles, extra dialogue, etc. I was on the fence about getting this, as I had really enjoyed Cybersleuth (700 odd hours on it), and did not want a visual novel over an RPG game. I was very suprised however, and found myself enjoying the visual novel much more than the RPG, even though I also found that to be fun.

    TLDR; Story heavy game with decently well thought out RPG mechanics; Would recommend to any digimon fan, but if you really hate reading it might not be your thing.    … Expand

    Digimon Survive is a wonderful blend of visual novel, tactical rpg, and mystery games. It does a wonderful job of blending multiple mechanics in a way that is unique and helps drive the story forward. This game is absolutely amazing in the way it takes choice based story telling to a new level with their combat system. If you enjoy a game with a deep enriching story that you can playDigimon Survive is a wonderful blend of visual novel, tactical rpg, and mystery games. It is a very good game in absolutely everything it sets out to do. It's not perfect, because nothing ever is. But the care that this is to the liking of the public to which it is directed (Fans of Digimon, Tactical RPGs and VN) is noticeable.,
    I can not recommend this game more. You have to play it.
    And yes, the price in my opinion is excessive. But aside from that, Survive has one of the best Digimon stories and there's no reason why you should miss it.    … Expand

    Tra le migliori visual novel mai giocate, con finali multipli e avanzamento della storia in base alle scelte che si fanno. Il gioco mi lascia inchiodato per ore, anche per il fatto che dopo secoli hanno fatto un gioco dei digimon in italiano. Meccanica dei combattimenti ben progettata, con la possibilità di farsi amici i digimon avversari.

    I haven't been this excited to play a Digimon game in a long time. I understand the visual novel aspect can be an adjustment for someone who isn't used to it, but I've found the story and gameplay to be fantastic. I've been waiting to get off work to play this game every day.

    Cried in 5 minutes, cried in an hour, cried a lot - Mission accomplished Bandai Namco! This is hands down the best Digimon game on the market and absolutely hope they continue this mature route. For a text based adventure there were parts that were generally scary. And I love the replay value it's set up similarly to Undertale imo given the fact that you can't do everything in oneCried in 5 minutes, cried in an hour, cried a lot - Mission accomplished Bandai Namco!     Honestly for someone who has played digimon survive and fished it and also played almost all digimon games out there and watched the anime too

    This game was really good Story was interesting Gameplay was not the greatest in the world but still good and fun The darkness and creepiness was really amazing and loved it !     Digimon Survive is an exciting alternate take on the tone and style of the Digimon series. It doesn't execute things flawlessly - those opening chapters are a bit of a chore and the tactics gameplay is simple with a capital 'S'. Still, when things kick off and the story starts to come together, it's a suspenseful and gripping journey that I'm glad I got to experience.

    Blending a pure visual novel with a turn-based tactical RPG combat, Digimon Survive is one of the best surprises of this year so far despite its issues. It is held back by some localization issues, but feels great to play on PC including Steam Deck after a post-launch patch addressed most of the issues. Digimon Survive also serves as a nice entry point into the franchise for newcomers as long as you aren't turned off by the structure.
