Painfully Unfun
The full Die Young game has just been released and with it comes a Die Young Prologue, a once free standalone game that can now only be obtained by purchasing Die Young
And after playing this 2 hour long prologue, I can only hope that Die Young is nothing like it…
Die Young Prologue as the name suggests is a set up to Die Young, its an introduction to the island and you control a completely different character than you do in the main game…
It sets the tone…
Now don’t get me wrong, Die Young Prologue does a lot right..
Its challenging, its tense, its terrifying…
Youll be runningthrough sewers and dark trying to escape this island. .gathering materials.. picking up items to use as weapons.. all in first person.. there is vertical traversing.. right away I felt as if I were playing a budget dead island game… there are even zombie like enemies that rave on and on about chicken nuggets…
I do feel however that this game is just unbalanced…
You have weapons and you can sneak… the enemies also have weapons.. and dogs.. and cross bows… and the swarm you like bees the moment theyre alerted…
And quite frankly you have no chance fighting them…
This leads me to wonder what is the point in the weapons…
what is the point in craft
Why have a combat system if combat is near impossible…
why have a combat sytem if health doesn’t replenish and health packs are nearly non existent in the game…. why not just design this game to be more like outlast where stealth is the focus… because this is what the game felt like to me… combat is so unsatisfying and useless that I treated the prologue like outlast.. just sneaking around, making a run for it to gt lucky enough to make it to the next save point as im stuck in this loop of unlocking doors running past enemies and dying,
Die Young Prologue to me is a stealth based survival horror game disguised as a combat craft and gather dying light dead island game…
And it does neither side right…
If you want the dying light half with the climbing crafting combat and running, you have to not stack enemies with crossbows and dogs around every corner.. it kills the balance…
If you want stealth based survival, I need more med packs, I need more checkpoints and save points….
Otherwise you get what die young prologue is… a frustrating unbalanced mess that could otherwise be fun
Im just praying the base fixes my issues. Even if it were just more med packs…
Something so tiny could improve this game in such a large way
I give Die Young Prologue
a 4/10… Expand
