Blizzard managed to create a game so disappointing & frustrating that almost everyone who quits, RAGE QUITS.

I scheduled my G.D. vacation time for the D4 release & 3 days into playing it stopped being fun. I'm still upset. What a scam.

The once great Blizzard North was bought out over a decade ago and none of the brilliant minds still work there at what is now called Activision Blizzard. I didn't know this until after buying D4. Blizzard pumps out flashy games with no substance and puts the Blizzard stamp on it to cash in on nostalgia and utilize predatory in game cash transaction practices. Their games are pure marketing & sales. Look at reviews for any of their games in the last decade. I wish I had.

Don't believe the positive critic reviews or the fake positive reviews masquerading as negative ones. Blizzard pays for those to confuse people

D4 Motto: If you're not having fun you're either playing wrong or too much.

However, while there are some elements of the game that I do find absolutely enjoyable, its little things that have crept in which have led to a lot of disdain for this game. You only have to read the reviews to know that we are all struggling with the same issues. I find teleporting in and out of areas leads to disconnects to the server. Consumables disappear due to dying and/or disconnects, and some of the consumables take a great deal of time to prepare. Resistances, seem irrelevant, even consumable resistance elixirs and so on. In general, the grinding is just the same old same old, with very little extra than increasing enemy health and damage, and the stun effects - OMF it may just be the worse Ive had to endure in a Diablo game. I hope Blizzard goes out of business because they have become so big without giving a crap to the legacy of Diablo. The money is important, but the overall experience of this game is evident Blizzard no longer understands what it means to make a long standing game. D2 was by far the best. Expand

A great game that has been killed by Blizzards incompotence at the Season 1.1.0 Patch, Microtransactions and a multitude of Pointless Useless Stats.

-Sound and music - 7/10 ( The sounds for me was good overall, it didn't stand out like in Diablo 1 or 2, or games like Lineage2 or Frostpunk or Doom May 13, 2016 and many others which gave me so much goosebumps that I still remember the music and dialogues )

-Multiplayer - 1/10 ( it might as well be solo game with bots running around )

-Customization - 1/10 ( in 2023 this kind of customization might as well call it diablo immortals reloaded, messy aspect system because of the items drop, there is no random feeling of luck for progression items, there is no feeling of "i might get the best item in the world today" because of how item drop generation system is designed, I just didn't care about items I saw on the ground anymore in the end )

-Realism - 4/10 ( Art and sound make up for this score but items and lack of connection with my character struggle through out the whole game makes it disappointment overall )

-Playability - 1/10 ( games gets very boring after completing story line )

My personal feeling about this game 3/10

Which gave me overall score of : 3.857142857142857 so i will rounded to " 4 "

    Personal note:
I do respect all the people who worked really hard and cared about this game to be perfect in any sense,
And I do appreciate all the time you invested to try, however if games like this with budget like that are failing its mainly because how little of passion and dedication is allowed to shine through the end project when titles like that are created only because investors is all that maters on the end of the day.
So if by any chance you are content creator please don't feel discourage by my comment,
Just try to find a better company a team of people which are respecting ideas and are open minded while also being working on the project with passion and dedication, only then you find yourself among people worthy of your time.

I have to say I am thankful I did not actually spend money on this game, just Blizzard credits from WoW gold I had left over from a long time ago, but even that I wish I had saved. This game was maybe worth 30 dollars. I would never condone spending 70 on this overpriced heap.

For the people who say that "this is the best diablo ever" Are... Interestingly missing some extraordinary points to make about, well, anything.

While the cut scenes are the strongest that Diablo has ever had, with the best or most voice acting, this Diablo has the worst world building there has ever been.

There are very few types of enemies, and half of them are just recolorations/reskins of another type of enemy. At various points, without any explanation, in a new area, you're fighting enemies without any knowledge of whom they are. They lightest touch as to any explanation as to whom they might be often comes from some side quest that might come way later, or hard to find.

Even more obnoxiously, when you are attempting to do dungeons extraneous to the primary storyline, which is considered the "end game content", which is what Blizzard is all about... Blizzard tools all their games purely for end game content, not for much else. The enemies that were actually described, The Cathedral, and the Mother's Cult are mortal enemies and frequently fight you alongside each other.

While you are in the storyline fighting for the Cathedral you just randomly start killing Cathedral long before you get anywhere near any explanation for why the 2 color skins of their armies would be against you, saints and penitents.

Basically, everything to do with environmental immersion is non-existent in a way I've never seen so broken in a loot box type game.

Destiny, every prior Diablo, every mobile phone game with 0 thought put into them except casino addition exploitation and microtransactions that now Blizzard is desperately trying to participate in, every Borderlands has far better immersion and explanation of enemies, your place in the world.

So the gameplay feels nonsensical. You're just hammering pixels for no apparent reason other than to pinata things. At least every other comparable title (which is 20 dollars cheaper and looks better and does not rubberband constantly) gives you a solid reason why for each enemy, rather than just slamming out there just to slam out there. It's like Blizzard just got exceptionally lazy and assumed no one cared about their world building, they would be satisfied with the story and everything else in the world didn't actually matter to be cohesive in any function.

Then there is the microtransactions. The battlepasses. The microtransactions are the most expensive I've seen before, and there is absolutely no way to gain anything through effort in the shops unlike in... every other game out there. If you want things for free, get into WoW and farm 100 hours of your life for 15 to 30 bucks if people are still buying and selling WoW currency. Not worth the time or effort. And Blizzard is NOT worth your money. Especially with how they are trashing Larian Studios for delivering such an exceptional game with total exquisite immersion.

A Battlepass, Blizzard has the worst battlepass I have ever seen. They only give 666 currency accessible only through purchasing premium for 1,000 which their battlepasses cost 1000 or 2800. You can not get the currency, you only get an awful looking basic xmog and some urn ashes to marginally increase resource drops from trash farming. It's terrible. Everything in the shop is worth absurd amounts and is barely visible except mounts.

A ridiculous amount of people have huge grievances with the above. I give the game 2 stars because the main story is well done, the cinematics are well done, but the entirety of the world and the immersion of the game breaks halfway through. And the end game, post story is... unrewarding, extremely easy, and just undlessly grinding and repetitive.

To be in torment, hitting the same content, doing 20 nightmare dungeons, and maybe, just maybe, get 1 item to consider to switch out because nothing ever drops over 800. They changed how loot drops in relation to the cache apparently, which made it even harder to get good unique items, lowered power levels drops, and just basically I've been using the same items from level 60 to 91. Probably some 60 to 100 hours of play with averaging 1 decent drop every 5 hours that still trashes out. Just very unrewarding.

    - Atmosphere! Finally the diabloesque atmosphere is back. It's dark, it's gory. No more cartoons!
    - Content - D4 got more content than any Diablo before (not counting mods for D2 obviously). Nightmare dungeons, helltides, world bosses, pinnacle boss... while definitely not perfect and could use some tweaking they keep me playing even after reaching 90lvl. Still not bored of either and I play couple of hours every day since launch. Sure it gets repetitive but it is an ARPG so... (baal runs anyone?).
    - The Butcher! What a great addition to the game. Finally an iteration that does the OG D1 Butcher justice. Let's just hope they will add more mini bosses like him.

    The Bad:
    - No map overlay? Seriously?!
    - Mount system. What the frell is that? Terrible in every way.
    - Loot. You can get an item (a unique for example) at 85lvl that is weaker than when you got it 10lvls ago. Items always require the lvl they dropped on to equip making it impossible to gear alts
    - Please... JUST STOP THIS "KILL ALL ENEMIES" BS!
    - A lot of minor things are bad or could be tweaked. Usually of a QoL variety. Almost in every aspect of the game. Stash, inventory, map, crafters, traversing to name a few. No "refund all" button for paragon points when there is one for skills?
    - As per usual with like every game/company the devs are VERY fast to nerf positive things but hibernate when some bugs are affecting the players in negative way - druid loot table for example. That being sad I personally haven't encountered many bugs.

    The Ugly:
    - Monetization. Yes, there are MTXs. No I don't consider them bad because they are good for game's longevity. D3 has nothing of the sort (let's not bring that abomination that was RMAH into this...) and the serious lack of content is very noticeable. I also don't consider them straight up good because it depends on how the devs will use the money. If they keep sucking the money without giving us any new content then yeah they bad.
    - Druid and sorc cosmetics
    - Ghost enemies

The game is an empty map.

The best part is that after 1.5 month of release of the game they added a bug where when you teleport you get disconnected, and inside activision forums they blame customers network while this has nothing to do with the customer's network.

Overall this is an empty map without anything implemented inside, it is literally not even playable because of the teleport bug you get returned to main menu with a disconnected message. If you do not teleport you will not disconnect but that means you will have to really travel long distances taking even like 20 minutes of your time.

After 3 months of release at the cost of 70 euro without anything implemented or working they announced a yearly paid expansion while the game is filled daily with new microtransactions.

This game does not even work right now you will get disconnected on teleport.

    You have been warned.

The real pain is in the shoddy implementation of game mechanics. Where do I start?
    - Class balance is a joke. It doesn't exist. To add insult to injury, the devs seem to focus on balancing around seasonal content as if the permanent "eternal realm" characters don't exist and suffer from even bigger gaps in power.
    - Endgame is extremely limited and repetitive.
    - Half the mobs have some sort of "I go kaboom on death" effect, which gets tedious.
    - Items are legit boring, due to multiple factors:
    1. Once you get to level 75 or so you are reduced to a line-worker checking an endless stream of "rares" for some 1% upgrade.
    2. The game is littered with situational affixes like "+5% damage to purple enemies when you are hungry". This exacerbates the issue of finding "good" items.
    3. The existing system of "legendary" items is lackluster. You unlock powers in dungeons but practically never want to use those because they are so weak, instead constantly spinning the wheel for a better version to drop... but these are "1 time use".
    4. Game is missing useful, direct affixes on items, like "+ 100 fire damage" or "3% chance to stun".
    5. Resistances are completely broken, have been for over 3 months, and still not fixed.
    6. Some stats straight up lie to you, like "% damage reduction" which DOES NOT work as a stacking bonus.
    7. Most of the "unique" items are pointless to use.
    8. No sets, no runewords, no real meaning behind item durability.
    9. No loot filter.

I could go on... thing is, practically every one of these issues can be fixed with dedication. I know that ONE DAY this game will be great. But it just isn't there yet, and I am sad.

However, Diablo 4 is not an ARPG, it is an MMORPG, with all the bad stuff (level scaling, online only, timed world bosses and helltides) and none of the good (no social aspects, no trading).

Also, the skills are few and full of cooldowns (can't spam my skills like in D2), we are constantly out of mana, and due to a horrible concept of damage buckets, vulnerable is a must for all builds, which severely restricts build diversity.

There's an absolutely huge lack of quality of life in the game. Something inexcusable as Early Access titles such Last Epoch (AWESOME game btw) have it since their EA release... Also, why only 4 stash tabs? You cannot even pay hard earned gold to expand it, what on earth are they thinking? My time is worth more than that (I am tired of having to haul **** around back and forth to the traders/crafters and constantly be out of inventory space).

The open world is nice but there's barely any mob density and sometimes it feels like a walking/riding simulator.

Finally, mob level scaling penalizes you as you level (you never truly become stronger, and in fact lower level characters can carry you instead of you carrying them).

Disclaimer: I'm a veteran from D1, D2, D3 (hated this one), Dungeon Siege, Sacred, Sacred 2, Path of Exile, Last Epoch... I love ARPGs.

EDIT: Lowering the score due to the completely out of touch development team. What a shame of a Season 1 patch... and the worst is that the resistances are still bugged (useless) yet they add items and effects that make use of them! This development team has to be among the worst in the industry...

The recent changes, coupled with the apparent monetization strategies, have led us to decide to stop playing. For those who value the legacy of this game, I'd advise caution. Final straw for me is when I see instead of planning a meaningful expansion they're just intending to release yearly expansions. There are still so many mechanics broken in the base game! The state of how the game was released and how poorly they're getting things fixed up I have no faith the yearly expansions will bring any real improvement, and most likely will turn it into a bigger more difficult to re-enter mess. I was ready to spend extra money on the game down the road too even if it was cosmetic if they showed they could get the game in order. However, Blizzard has made it clear this is purely about money and not about providing the type of gaming experience that earned them the status in the industry they once had. They got my money for nostalgia's sake this time but won't get another cent out of me unless they can return to what got them this far, but I'm not hopeful I went ahead and uninstalled the game today as I realized I haven't played in weeks now and the game was just taking up space on my drive. Once the main story is finished, the game starts getting dull quickly. Pool balance and gears are hard to obtain for the build, definitely have no motivation to try a new build. Not even motion the **** game experience, painful mazes, tinny carry capacity. The most expensive game I bought and the fastest game I quit, not even worth 1/10 of the money spent.

Absolutely loved the main story and the world they created, the voice acting was phenomenal! Unfortunately the end game is just repetitive, pointless and filled with micro transactions, the battle pass was a waste of time and is a stupid system in general. *Update Sept 6b2023). My suspicions were confirmed by even the developers themselves when they released a live stream and was obvious the developers have no idea about Diablo in any of the variants. Much less trying to design Diablo for. So they're obviously learning on the fly, which I guess with the me too movement and the social justice were movement. That's infested blizzard. It's to be expected. Baldur's gate 3 and starfield are quite a bit more fun. The games actually look like the developers new, what they were doing and so far have held my attention much better. I played Diablo IV on the weekends, occasionally with a friend of mine, but other than that I don't touch the game because it's simply really wasn't worth it unfortunately. We shall see what happens in the future.

    Original 9/10

The world is gritty and expansive, the little details and sounds you hear while venturing around are amazing. The story, albeit short, was enjoyable to follow, I just wish it was longer.

There's a lot to do but the world group activities are few and far between, this needs to be addressed as soon as possible with either more content for world events or lowering the time between the current events.

PVP is fine, I would not recommend anyone looking for a PVP game to go into this thinking it's going to scratch that itch.

The graphics and sound quality are amazing, the immersion it brings is fantastic.

Overall I'd rate this a 9/10, Solid foundations, enjoyable story, a vast world to explore and a path to an even better game with future releases.

What's better yet is that I was unable to even buy the game initially thanks to regional account issues which Blizzard Activision wouldn't resolve, after finally getting that fixed I wanted to split the payment between my balance and card, yet of course that is not supported on battle.net, they advise to work around that you can top up your account with the difference... When topping up I got a disclaimer saying that it may take 10 minutes to process my top up, they took the funds from my account right away yet it took multiple days for them to release the funds and make them available to buy the game. In the interim I tried to get a friend to gift me the game but he was also unable to purchase the game for unrelated reasons. It took us weeks to even sync up and finally play thanks to battle.net crap.

Balancing has been all over the place since the beginning and the first major patch was a giant miss to many players with communication. The first season is monotonous in tone and scope and only adds to the inventory problem. The devs need to really get inventive on the base game and seasons going forward. This game probably needs another year or even an expansion before it finally feels good. A lot of promise, but falls far from delivery. The story starts at a high, grounds to a terrible slow mid game and then picks up at the end. Cinematics are top notch and voice acting. Graphics are glorious at times, but we cannot properly see every detail with how the game plays, also please add more camera zoom in/out features soon. The devs are committed to fixing the game, but the game needed another 6-12 months in the oven realistically. Many official reviews are based on first impressions or story playthroughs. ARPGs, however, have to be evaluated differently, and similarly to MMORPGs, should be based on reviews-in-progress or delayed by a months based on endgame experience.

Blizzard missed the mark with their third installment and didn't bring the genre forward like it did previously. They had years to learn from successful competitors like Grinding Gear Games' Path of Exile. So, there was much hope that part IV will do much better. However, it appears that Blizzard, again, has to go back to the drawing board because many design decisions made do hamper the long-term replayability and question whether anything has been understood about the genre they once championed. This is fatal for a live service game.

As said, the story itself isn't what should be talked about, rather whether the game provides a satisfying endgame loop. This is where they're outright falling flat. This is just a summarization of issues (by the time of writing, some changes may be made later and already have been announced):

    — the most effective way to level to 100 is grinding nightmare dungeons. This is highly repetitive by nature, but even more so if there's a cap on XP buffs, but you will still run at least 6–8 times until the next level. Thereafter, yes, nightmare dungeons are still the way to go. There is no variation to this formula. It's all there is.
    — you will eventually feel like a trash panda, given that the game fails to provide any form of loot filtering. At least they did away with having to identify items.
    — gems are dropped plenty but thanks to their reusability there is no need to keep them unless you want to stuff your limited inventory with them
    — inventory space is overall abysmally small, worse even, some inventory is intentionally limited, there is no search function, and if you thought that gems shouldn't take up as much space as an axe then you are out of luck. Blizzard has always been stingy with inventory space, but this isn't acceptable in a modern ARPG anymore.
    — some stats like resistances don't either work at all or poorly. Other stats are overpowered to the level of necessitating to build your character around it, this is due to a stat bucket system where certain stats share the same stat domain while others have their own. Given that stats are the mechanical core of any ARPG it is very puzzling to see a developer like Blizzard stumbling over such basic issues.
    — given how the stat system works, it should be no surprise that there is immense stat bloat, with lesser versions of the same stat class occupying the same space. Currently, there are about 576 stats to roll from. With only a maximum of four available per item, an eternal grind for the perfect roll is ensured. Until then, you will either end up as a gold billionaire or as a walking warehouse of crafting materials.
    — the game likes to waste your time: from the aforementioned lacking loot filter system, over meandering dungeons even requiring backtracking to events requiring you to listen to a prologue of lengthy dialogues of NPCs, and many more things, it has it all.
    — at the time of writing, the first season is running and exposing some serious design lack of conceptual proofs during development. A design that requires you to run up to boring dungeons to chase an item that not only provides borrowed power, a concept that Blizzard has stumbled over many times. It also floods your regular inventory space with items that are season-limited, and cannot be praised at all. There is no added depth and feels uninspired overall.

A part of general criticism is also the world. Previously, Blizzard stuck to a zone-based design, this time they went for a world-based design, where players have to unlock some settlements, do quests, kill world bosses, participate in various events like Helltides or PVP. But it seems that with every change Blizzard makes, the world becomes irrelevant. This appears to be symptomatic for Blizzard: they are certainly capable of crafting beautiful worlds, but they are torpedoing their value by committing players to forced claustrophobia to have any meaningful character progression.

Another issue is camera zoom, which can lead to instant character deaths due to monsters engaging you from off-screen, like skeletal artillery or turbocharging monsters.

So, is there anything good? Yes. The story is certainly more mature and gritty than in the previous installment. The game runs smoothly in many configurations, the foundation is there, but the interior is lacking. Overall, this means however that as an actual ARPG it is a rather mediocre experience.

Blizzard need to go back ask the D2 team how to make Diablo great.

Compared to diablo 3 this is like 2 steps forward and 100 backward. ( for a company that has over 10 years in diablo live action games this sure feels like insult)
    Bigest issues list:

    Not enough inventory

No Set Armor, no Horadric or Kanai's cube, no runes or runewords, no extracting Legendary abilities and being able to add those to your character's battle prowess in addition to your gear... they spent decades honing content into an enjoyable experience in Diablo 2 and 3 only to completely wipe the slate for Diablo 4 and give you absolute squat.

OMG the itemization is sooo bad! This new 'Uniques' and 'Uber Uniques' item system as well as the poorly executed 'Aspect' system that was obviously designed to make you waste inventory space with what feels like an inevitable shift towards charging real cash for more bag expansions... that's just one of a myriad of issues that are just so WRONG about this terribly executed mess. Even the one feature that should have been remotely exciting--mounts--totally suck. If you haven't bought this game yet... DON'T!!! It might be baked into something worthy in another two to three years but right now other ARPGs on the market vastly outshine it.

this is a perfect example when siphoning money from the fan base is the main focus and the rest is just a cover up on top of it. The game has lots of bugs and overall experience is nah when you get anywhere after lvl 25... It looks great at first and than you realize how boring this is. it is nothing like the Diablo games we all love to play anymore. Such a shame.

Graphics are awesome and story is ok but this pretty much it. Blizzard failed Diablo 4 with poor itemnisation (supposed to be the MAIN part of this game) with careless drops and over complicated item random stats. Started to get bored at level 60 and gave up around level 70.

    - No set items
    - absolutely zero social aspect
    - Useless and forgettable legendary items

It feels like almost every part of this game is made to make you slower and less happier.
Diablo IV is not about to entertain you. It's about to make you work, like if you have second job. But in this case you paid for that. Boring. Weak.

And this is where the game utterly fails in every regard. The end game loop of nightmare dungeons, hell tides, gathering legions and world bosses is at best, tedious. The dungeons are samey and get boring very quickly, the hell tides are just flat out dull and annoying trying to find the one chest which 'might' drop some half decent loot. Gathering legions is zero challenge and lasts a minute or so as several high level players blitz everything as it spawns. The world boss is no longer any kind of challenge either, there will always be several level 100 guys meaning it will die in no time at all, plus, again, there's a real lack of variation. In it's current state this game is worth 20 bucks, or if like me you got it free with a GPU then it's worth doing the story and that's it. Expand

Diablo 4 has been out for over two months and luck has let me spend a lot of time in Sanctuary. Leveled a druid to 100 in both Eternal and Seasonal realms. It hits a homerun in a few places; the campaign looks and feels great to slice and crush through. Sadly campaign has almost no replay appeal. Thankfully a "skip campaign" option becomes available after your first completion. SinceDiablo 4 has been out for over two months and luck has let me spend a lot of time in Sanctuary. Leveled a druid to 100 in both Eternal and Seasonal realms. It hits a homerun in a few places; the campaign looks and feels great to slice and crush through. Sadly campaign has almost no replay appeal. Thankfully a "skip campaign" option becomes available after your first completion. Since little to no impactful endgame content exists and season one was abysmally thin, the campaign is the only real meat and potatoes Diablo 4 offers. Guess campaign skipping isn't all that great then...

The real problem with Diablo 4 is the downward trajectory of Blizzard itself. Played every Diablo title since day one and that nostalgia is the only reason I even open Battlenet anymore. The framework or substructure if you will, of how the game is designed and deployed on is both less enjoyable than previous Diablo games and money hungry. Items from the "micro" transaction shop very frequently cost greater than 30% of the base cost of the game. Many say this is the industry standard now. If that is true, why then is Blizzard looking to be faceless among the pack by doing what everyone else does? Long ago, they were known for leading... Without spending a lot of real money after already purchasing Diablo 4, your Nephilim hero will forever be drab and unloved.

Patches have been released to slow down player progression, really. Experience gained in combat was nerfed because people were finishing the game and turning it off too fast. Another patch lowered overall player damage so much that all classes lost viable builds, some classes became temporarily unable to play at the highest difficulty. While DPS adjustment patches and fixes have become fairly routine in games like this, the way it was done was obviously not for gameplay improvement but to extend the life cycle of a game that almost didn't make it to it's first season.

A very large amount of Quality of Life mechanics (build switching, quest management, etc) and character customization options from the previous entry were simply taken out of Diablo 4's development. Many speculate that they weren't actually removed but were instead purposely held back and slated to be slow rolled into the game over time to make it seem like developers are coming up with new and great things. Not sure which answer is worse: incompetence and the inability to look at what worked in previous entries to the franchise, or that Blizzard has just become that bad an talentless at making an ARPG. All I know, is they aren't there and game franchises are supposed to improve from title to title. Otherwise, why make a new one at all?

Blizzard could be developing fixes and improvements for down the road that bring Diablo 4 up to where it's predecessor finished. But from watching the livestreams and posts from Blizzard, I doubt it'll arrive wrapped in anything but an expensive insult to one of the (formerly) greatest game franchises.

A complete downgrade from D3 (after the D3 AH was removed at least). It's a long slog to have to do all side quests, dungeons, find statues and explore every single cm of the map to earn renown for paragon points, and after the main story there's literally nothing to do except the tree chores, or running the same dungeons over and over again in the hope of finding some loot. The class I played, sorcerer, was incredibly weak, and dull to play. There's no variety in events, only a few types of mob, same assets used in all areas. Just a weak effort from the formerly great company, now no more than a name in Activision's stable. All the talent left Blizzard, and it shows. Absolutely not worth the £90 I paid. There are indie games at £5 that have better longevity, and are more fun to play. Expand

Diablo IV has been quite a struggle for me to play, often finding it hard to engage for more than a few minutes at a time. The experience comes across as excessively repetitive, grind-oriented, and devoid of enjoyment.

My sentiments toward the pricing of the store skins are in stark contrast as well. While I've willingly invested in microtransactions before, the cost of these skins feels exorbitant. A single skin costs as much as a significant portion of the base game? It's truly perplexing!

Comparatively, my recent experience with Path of Exile (POE) has been far more immersive and captivating. I'm inclined to transition to POE2 upon its release and observe how Diablo IV evolves after a couple of seasons.

It seems as though Diablo IV was hastily pushed to market, possibly to secure a player base before the launch of POE2. This rush is palpable and has likely impacted the game's overall quality and experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Positive: Story and artwork are good. Negative: Compared to D3 where set items, TONS of legendaries with interesting affixes and legendary gems existed and acquiring/optimizing them was a real motivation for playing, D4 lost set items & legendary gems and there are only ~10 uniques per class and therefore place you in a position where you're constantly checking every rare to see if it's worthy of copying a saved affix to, usually to get a tiny improvement. Even more glaring is the lack of social interaction - you basically play by yourself 95% of the time, in D3 you could meet and do rifts together easily, in D4 I think social interaction was put on the backburner - a player lobby might be a good idea. My impression is that D3 had more monster variety than D4 - I feel like I'm always fighting enemies that have the same offensive skills. Expand

While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
