Diablo IV is all that you could wish for the return of the Diablo saga. Is a dark and brutal action RPG with tons of content and a surprising story. [Recommended]

Diablo IV represents a significant milestone for a series that is approaching its 30th anniversary. From what I have seen so far, it successfully modernizes the franchise and brings it up to par with other ARPGs. Once again, you’ll embark on a relentless journey through dungeons, honing your skills, optimizing your damage output, and improving your survival chances.

If you love ARPGs and enjoyed the combat of Diablo 3 and the atmosphere of Diablo 2, I think you're going to love this game. It's not as brain-meltingly complicated as a Path of Exile, but it doesn't want to be. This is streamlined, big-budget loot hunting, and I absolutely love it. Ignore the monetization nonsense, vibe out on the demon slaying, and you'll have a great time.
  4. Diablo 4 treads familiar ground in its story and characters, but its combat and gameplay systems shine where prior games fell short. I wish its single-player experience was a little less hostile, and I worry for its longevity in its current state, but even at its lowest lows, it manages to match or outpace its predecessors in almost every conceivable way. Diablo 4 doesn’t even have to be a Good Game for me to crave playing it — it’s the intrinsic lizard-brain appeal of magic-finding and getting more powerful that’s kept the third installment alive for so long. It’s the pure uncut result of gamifying the “god, why must you give me your hardest battles” meme with one of the most beloved action-adventures of my generation. I can almost feel Lilith cradling my face, calmly explaining that not only am I Sanctuary’s weakest hero, but this is only Nightmare mode, and I have many, many more doors to obliterate before reaching Torment.
  6. Part of the reason it's so easy to play hours of Diablo IV in one go, staring unblinkingly at the centre third of your screen until you feel your eyeballs turn into raisins, is that it's very well made. The different synergies of all the abilities and spells is extremely impressive, and the game kicks up a bit when you get your ultimate spells and special abilities. I got the ability to summon, rather than a team of skeletons, one huge Big Daddy-esque monster in their place - and even that came in three variants for extra build customisation. There are main missions, side missions, timed world events, an optional currency to buy mystery weapons, and hours-long dungeons to get Aspects for your character - themselves another optional addition to apply to your gear. It's a game that puts no friction between itself, and you mainlining it for an entire day. Whether you'll feel good afterwards is another question.

Blizzard killed the best thing about Diablo: the loot!!
"legendaries" are a poor substitute for uniques. So much of the fun of Diablo used to be building characters that used uniques in, well, unique ways. Hell, just finding one was great. Now I dont even get a jump in the heartbeat when one drops because it will only be mats for something from the codex....
Now uniques are just badges for the most of try-hards....
I could go on and on about the live service stuff, but the loot is what killed it for me

I made this account just to give Diablo 4 an honest review so hopefully others avoid the same mistake of purchasing. Early on the game seemsI made this account just to give Diablo 4 an honest review so hopefully others avoid the same mistake of purchasing. Early on the game seems decent, but it progressively gets more boring. Previously Diablo games had end game activities to keep us logging on and playing. This game has nothing going for it at end game. I've seen people calling it Vendor Simulator 4 and this makes a lot of sense. You spend more time running between monsters, reviewing your loot and vendoring it than actually fighting monsters.

The game is also live service and Blizzard recently ignored 142 exploiters who basically cheated the game to get uber uniques. Their response was extremely disappointing. It was along the lines of "we know who cheated and how many, but this time there will be no punishment, perhaps next time we'll do something if it happened again". This allows their streamer partners and whoever else they are protecting to retain godlike items for the remainder of the game. I decided to uninstall at this point because Blizzard lost integrity and didn't keep the playing field fair for the rest of us.
