May 15, 2012Yea I could probably score it more than a 1 if I could actually play it. I liked the idea of the multiplayer, and I like it when the monsters go splat. But for goodness sake you should be able to play a single player game on launch date. 10 years to prepare and you can't even launch the most anticipated game in the last decade. I can't believe it.
-
May 15, 2012Yes, they deserve it. That's the short answer. The long answer is gonna take me a whole day to write. Even metacritic's 5000 characters limit reviews won't be enough. Diablo III was just a huge series of disappointments.
-
May 15, 2012Two nights in a row of trying to log on. Any failure of this magnitude would utterly destroy another game, but since its got the Diablo name, people keep "trusting" that blizzard will deliver. Blizzard is owned by Activision folks. You can't rely on them to deliver anything but something to please the Activision stockholders.
-
May 15, 2012I hope metacritic are not gonna remove these reviews and alter the scores because they get paid by Blizzard for ads. Because this game and Blizzard truly deserve this slap in the face from the community.
-
May 15, 2012This game is too hard. I can't even get past the first login level. Just when I think I've cleared it by beating the Error 37 boss, the Error 75 boss and the Error 3003 boss tag-team me. :(

May 16, 2012If you want to maintain your image as a game company, it's typically advisable to make sure people can play your game after they've bought it. It also helps to make sure the game doesn't suck, especially if it's a well known and liked series. Blizzard couldn't have gotten at least one of these right?

May 16, 2012thanks blizzard, I cancel to buy this game until your stupid DRM is erased, look at CDP, they dare to remove the DRM, and their game sales still good.
and the server has no SEA region, and I have to connect to the server via US server, man it's shame, I get around 300 - 1000 ping from my region to reach US server, hahahaha -
May 31, 2012The game itself worth a 7 ,despite stupid cartoon and wow style , oh , and a stupid short liner story. But the Blizzard (company) and their crappy servers deserve a 0..even now I cant get in to the game because of the patch(different patch time is a big mistake)

Jun 1, 2012The game is great. When I can actually play the game. Unfortunately they can't deliver the online service for me to play it when I want which is a real shame for a game like this. Where's the "play offline" option??
-
Jun 3, 2012The game so far seems interested and well thought out, however the always-on requirement of internet access is terrible. I have hardly been able to play my "single player" game due to disconnects and errors constantly. I think I'll play torchlight instead. Ugh!

Jul 10, 2012I have to agree with other users who state this game is not as good as it's high metascore. It's too easy, boring, repetitive and there is nothing really new here. Graphics seem dated and the story is lame. I miss the blizzard of old when they where innovative and fun.

Jan 29, 2013Huge fan of Diablo and Diablo 2. Spent HOURS and HOURS on Battle.net playing DII..
Played about 60 hours of Diablo III and it has collected dust ever since. Gameplay is good, graphics are great - always online killed it for me. They basically ruined a great franchise - and made us wait 10+ years for a piece of junk like this -

Mar 4, 2013The best example yet why marketers should not have a voice in Game Design. Company policy is fine with Customers paying for their mistakes. Also, the game is unreasonably expensive.
-
Mar 13, 2013Dull and repetitive, even the carbon copy storyline fails to give anything new. With each level it's only really the graphics that change. I won't even start on the always on-line requirement. AVOID.

Oct 24, 2013Highly disappointing.
Pros Good animation, good combat feel, good story/cgi scenes
Cons- Terrible drops, shallow character customization, dev team is skeleton crew divided between pc/console, so sloooooow content releases. Currently over a year since last content update. -

Nov 6, 2013I'm very disappointed because can't play offline, and the most i hate about it is, I can't sell to other person who has better Internet connection than me.

Jun 5, 2014worst arpg I have ever played. the devs have no clue. its so bad their lead dev is now a joke in the industry. blizzard has lost a lot of fans with this game

Dec 18, 2015this is not diablo this is a game with no fun like diablo 2 . what a waste of money and time to play this crap game. battlenet never again. tetris is better
-
Mar 13, 2016I loved Diablo 1 and 2, but this game wasn't in the same family. It feels slapped together, and kicks me out of a single player game if my isp glitches. I've had to replay levels just because my Internet hung for a second. It feels lazily made.

May 15, 2012The story and cinematics are great. Gameplay is fun for small sessions but after a while it becomes stale. Always online DRM is inexcusable and connectivity issues just make an appalling situation even worse. My advice: watch the cinematics on YouTube and give this $60 game a miss.
-
May 15, 2012It's a scam, pay but you can't play - error 37, error 75, error 30007... They require you to be online to play, but they have no servers for you to play on as everything is dead.
-
May 16, 2012Any game that requires the player to have a broadband internet connection in his home just to play the single player campaign gets a big fat zero from me.
-
May 15, 2012Sadly i was expecting a better game. No character customization, no more attribute points to distribute, which would easily make the game a little deeper. And skills unlock automatically... this is a disaster.
It seems like blizzard released their second bad game. First one was the world of warcraft. -
May 15, 2012
-
May 15, 2012Wank poor performance by Blizzard/Activision. Force us to be always be connected to their servers to combat, "Piracy", but fail to have enough servers to cope. I guess they all ready have our money, so they win and we lose. Should not be allowed.
-
May 15, 2012Blizzard spent 12 years or something to come with the third installment but could not manage to make the game playable. Wait a year until it is stable since Blizzard could not care less about making things that work from day one they just want your money now.
-
May 15, 2012Joke, can't log in. They insultingly release the installer 2 months before release, and then don't even let us log in after waiting 2 months.
The graphics are like... warcraft 3 graphics. -
May 15, 2012Took the day off work, couldn't get on last night due to stress errors, can't get on right now due to servers being down. I work all the time, don't know when I will get the chance to spend a serious amount of time on this game. Severely disappointed that I can't play a game I own. Learn from my mistakes: Don't pre-order from blizzard, don't expect to play on release day.
-
May 15, 2012Really bad release. Whoever rates this game a "10" is a mindless zombie. Was able to only get about 4 hours of game play. Spent the first few hours of release trying to connect to their DRM servers and now they're in maintenance mode all morning. Extremely disappointing for a company with such high standards as Blizzard.

May 15, 2012It doesn't much matter what's in the game if the company requires a persistent internet connection to play it, and they can't manage to keep their servers up on launch day. I hope everyone at Blizzard is ashamed.
-
May 15, 2012Bad bad servers. No such a good connection, failure on launch...lways online DRM, -Lack of skill diversity, -Connection errors, -Play to win, -Short story. This game is a step back from Diablo 2, so I recommend avoiding it.

May 17, 2012The service is very **** at Asia.
When I got the game. I have never connect to battle net steady.
I think Blizzard do a wrong thing. It estimate fail at Asia. -
May 17, 2012Even more repetitive than the others with the REALLY ANNOYING DRM... Disappointing... At least the others were somehow more captivating than this one...

May 20, 2012Unplayable connections, low graphics and ridiculous leveling system make this game sickening. Blizzard has lost a customer for life. No more. The DRM systems fails on every level and so has Blizzard.
-

-
May 20, 2012Hugely overrated. Not worth 60$, not only because of the drm thing, but also because of the childish story and repetetive gameplay. On the bright side, when stuff pops out of chest the animation is very cool.

May 15, 2012They used to pay attention to the details of the game, not any more. They used to care about the game experience, not any more, the users couldn't even get into the game which suppose to be played as a single game.
Poor story line as always.
Bad launch and customer service as alwasy, or you can say they just failed. -

May 15, 2012Online DRM, graphic from 2003, audio quality (no eax etc.), i cant play (payed 50 euro), its a joke? BLIZZARD? I ask you, its a f... joke? :/ Errors in game, errors in connect, oh no i dont have internet in night (i cant play!)
-
May 15, 2012Online only? What kind of Orwellian future am I living in? Game is worse than D2 due to lack of features. Incredibly frustrating because the graphics and cinematics are A+.
-
May 15, 2012y u no have better severs?

This game isn't all that great. Blizzard not support servers for paying customers is like robbing Helen Keller. -

May 17, 2012I've played King's Quest I (released in 1984) with my young girls and had a great time doing it. What do you think the odds are people being able to play this game in 30 years due to the always on DRM?

May 20, 2012I can't decide which is the worst, the corny / **** dialogue, the boring gameplay, the boring items, or the fact that the games story plays out like a **** cliche marvel movie that put all its budget into special effects. They seriously ruined the best game franchise of all time, and they did it with flying **** colors.

May 20, 2012This is possibly the worst game in the history of all games. Bad boring gameplay, awful graphics, and a terrible story to boot. Diablo turned into a Pay 2 win with their new crappy auction house. Don't waste your hard earned cash on this garbage, Diablo is trash now

Aug 31, 2012My one major complaint is that the game never feels very difficult, especially on Normal. There are frustrating moments, hordes of baddies, and increasing difficulty levels, but the same feeling of utter defeat never really happens as it did in the past.
-
Hyper MagazineJul 18, 2012For all the game's missteps, though, you certainly can't accuse Blizzard of phoning it in - if anything, the game suffers from the tendency to try a little to hard at times to evolve the design. [Aug 2012, p.61]
-
Jul 3, 2012When it works, Diablo III is the best of the Diablo games. When it doesn't, all it does is make you mad. [July 2012, p.54]
