    A great game resurrected is exactly what this game accomplished. So glad he classic is back on modern devices. Have had any issue on pc.

    Excellent remaster for great game. People write many negative based on network problems on first two days after start. But on 3 day all problems have been solved and nothing dont interfere enjoying the game. We received classic gameplay in amazing modern graphics, with extra stash, autoloot gold and other.     It's Diablo 2 without the eyesore. Original voice acting has been preserved, and so has the gameplay. Servers having startup hiccups which is pretty normal, especially when dev underestimates the demand. (Mainly posting to counter this rediculous review bombing from blizzards typical "miserable perfectionists", you know, the same ones that have driven most normal players away from theirIt's Diablo 2 without the eyesore.     Brilliant work from Vicarious Visions and Blizzard. Amazing visual part and wonderful sound backgrounds just revived my bright memories. Thx Blizz.

    First off, I would urge you to ignore all of the review bombs from people with such a sense of entitlement and a disconnect from reality that they expected the launch of a new online multiplayer game to have zero issues, immediately at launch.

    Anyone that's gamed for a decent number of years knows to sit back for the first few hours and chill, though with that said I was able to play immediately at launch for a period of 90 minutes, until a maintenance window rolled out that sorted the server issues and off I was playing again thereafter.

    Secondly, this game runs like an absolute dream on a non-potato PC, for example:

    1) I've not experienced a single instance of FPS drop
    2) I haven't once lost my connection
    3) Only 1 single game crash in almost 1 week of playing.
    4) No technical issues in anyway whatsoever

    This game does EXACTLY what it says on the tin, it's a remaster of an all time classic and possibly the best ever ARPG, with some added improvements such as shared stash, ladder runewords included in non ladder, the Lord of Destruction Expansion bundled in and some awesome looking new character models.

    I love the fact that you can press 'G' at any point to toggle between old and new graphics too, this really shows how great a job they've done.

    The core game is still exactly the same and I've been thoroughly enjoying my time on it thus far. Player base seems huge, plenty of people and games around to trade, haven't seen any bots at all yet and the experience since launch has been all round awesome.

    I'm extremely hard pressed to understand why some people are leaving bad reviews because:

    - They can't see certain body parts of female characters anymore.
    - They expected no maintenance or issue fixing upon immediate launch
    - They aren't able to abuse other players in game by swearing at them anymore
    - They are leaving negative reviews on any Blizzard game, due to a totally separate issue that Blizzard have been facing recently.

    The user scores on this sight are NOT a reflection on the game or the launch whatsoever, they are a reflection of how entitled a lot of gamers have become, and how a mass of people will group together to target a game made by a company with review bombs, based on a completely separate issue.

    Great game, no issues at all, works exactly as expected - this is coming from someone who took a week off work to play it the minute it launched, so I already have a very high number of hours put in.

    This is an amazing remaster! It keeps the feel of the original game while making it look modern and beautiful. I haven’t played Diablo 2 in 20 years but I got sucked right back in!

    A few minor server issues at launch because of too many players are not enough to bring this down.

    This game is not only just as good as it was originally. The controller support is superb. Playing the original Diablo2 had issues for my hands as they were begin to hurt from all the mouse clicking. The PS5 controller is ergonomic and allows me to play for hours without jeopardizing my ability to work my development job. The 60 FPS mode is buttery smooth and very enjoyable. I also played this on PC and Switch for various reasons and find those ports to be just as good (Switch can't do 60 FPS though). Other reviews here are complaining about server issues but I expect that it will be resolved and I also assume all the bad reviews won't be revisited once the servers are fixed so you should probably ignore them.… Expand

However, it's also a classic for a reason; no other game in this genre, at all, including Diablo 3, Grim Dawn, Path of Exile, Titan Quest etc. etc. etc. has nailed the in game aesthetic and immersive experience of Diablo 2. It is just fantastic in this respect.

    For me, I just wanted what I got - a remaster that left it largely alone. So for me, it scores highly. If you expected something mechanically improved or whatever, I can understand maybe a 6 or a 7... but this shouldn't be scoring any less from anyone.    … Expand

    You had this game before? Oh really? You should read what they offer in refreshed version of the game. It's everything what I wanted to have, old D2 with new graph. Good that they gave this work to correct studio!

Да есть недочеты, да в современном мире без цензуры и толерантности нихрена не выпустишь (особенно в связи с последними скандалами), но я не ждал новой игры, я не ждал мультиплеер, я ждал Diablo 2 с более симпатичной графикой.Лично по моему выпустили как раз то что ждали те кто играл Д2 в начале 2000х.     Oh yeah, before I go F*CK Activision-Blizzard leadership for what they did to their employees (specifically the women who worked under them), for their anti-consumer practices, for horrible workplace culture. Everything bad that happens to them is deserved, and I hope those who worked under these circumstances maintain their jobs or easily find new ones. That aside, Vicarious Visions did this game justice, and I appreciate it.

    Pathetic rewiev bombing, server issues have nothing to do with game itself, so chill kiddos and wait a couple days before everything settles. Thats why they didnt launch ladder from the start. Take a couple of deep breaths and do not go cry everywhere about it.

    quite remake amazing to see old game with this detail. even zooming camera close pushing like third person view game. hard to play like that but for detail still intact. ı cant give 10 bcouse not offline like old relase and not have pc physcal rlease which is prety low respect legacy of pc this game.

    This is how a remaster should look like. New graphics, some minor tweaks, and an option to go back to the old graphics of the game. It is kept as it was, only with new graphics and small improvements. Love it. If only other remasters were like this...

    I don't understand where comes all this bad and mean reviews. We talk about Diablo II !!! Huh - This is the series, which invented more or less ARPGs. The Remaster is beautiful. The Art is a delight and the "switchin" literally anytime to the old graphics is a Bomb !. I didn't play Diablo II back then, but I play it now and I LOVE to play and the Virus hit me already.....just one more RUN ;-)

Complaints from buffoons unable to figure out how to hotkey function keys, and upset there isn't a tutorial for a very easy game to learn (which would take away from the great immersion and mood of the game). Other complaints are from whackjobs who expected a fully new experience in a remastered classic video game! They want personal loot, handshake PVP so their feelings don't get hurt when another player kills them, soulbound items, greater rifts, endgame maps, increased drop rates so they're getting a unique drop every few seconds, and more! Well there is already a game out there with this. It's called Diablo 3. So why can't they just go play that instead of trying to ruin the fun for the rest of us with better tastes? Then they come on here and downvote this masterpiece giving it a zero, which is an absolutely ridiculous score for such great work Vicarious Visions put into this game.     Yes there are server issues currently but they are being worked on. These will be ironed out over time. But the actual game is very well done and captures the original wonderfully.

    - compatibility with modern systems (widescreen, resolution, networking)
    - updating the graphics

    The first point is the most important one, because the original Diablo 2 simply did not run on a modern system anymore (not without tweaking it more than simply installing the old CDs)

    The second point - ... well, it certainly got an update. Its graphics are modernized - and admittedly better than Diablo III - that is more detailed, less cartoon-ish. Especially the reflections and the light and shadow play is amazing (in levels like catacombs or similar)

    I would not say the graphics really up top of the line though. They "feel" about as good as the old graphics "felt" when it originally came out. (which is .. good enough, not amazing) - models look better, the environment looks better but still like the original one (so, it is a very faithful remaster) - the animations however are kind of bad - even compared to the old one. (they feel less dynamic and really unnaturally stiff)

    All in all, it is very nice to see a "dark" Diablo game with contemporary graphics .. that is challenging and well balanced.

    I am sorry to say that Diablo III, compared to Diablo II is like a "my little pony mod pack" on super easy difficulty. In fact .. i find Diablo III late game content about as challenging as a mobile app clicker game .. while Diablo II takes skill and situational judgement as well as thought (because you cannot simply respec on the go)

    A certain 9/10 for me (well, in the early days .. it has massive server problems, but i would not vote it down for it - as those are bound to get fixed soon enough)    … Expand

    I have a very fond memory of the original game and I was happy when this was announced. I've been playing with work colleagues for a week now and there have been a few bugs that i noticed:

    Absolutely incredible. Its annoying seeing all these racist and sexist incels getting to trash the game and give it a 0 of ridiculous things that have nothing to do with the game itself. Vicarious and Blizzard perfectly revitalized a classic masterpiece and its better than ever.

    I say improved art, but I loved going back to the old artwork. The imperfect graphics actually made the game look a lot scarier. It’s really hard to outdo the original graphics, but the new ones did a satisfactory job simply being “modern.” The reason why this is a massive pro is that I can’t stand the font of old Diablo. It would legitimately prevent me from playing the game. The changes made to the game made it more friendly to newcomers.
    Diablo II excels at the grind for gear. It takes hours upon hours. But the game’s theme of hell and the gameplay is actually very clever. You grind for rare gear (people would hate me for making this comparison, but this is how it feels for me) which feels an awful lot like shiny hunting in Pokemon. Players fight wave after wave, exit the game, and do it again. Over and over and over again. You beat the game, and you start over—only to realize that the game’s gotten harder. You complete the same quests, fight the same bosses, the same monsters, everything again, except they deal much more damage and can take a lot more punishment. It’s kind of how I’d imagine hell would be—a lack of change—and it’s brilliant. The classes are diverse, and you can tackle the game at your own pace.
    Death is punishing as you might lose all your hard-earned gear you grinded hours for. It’s fun I guess, but I can tell you I had to spend 5 or so hours at times trying to recover gear after dying. Quitting was not an option because I would lose a lot more than 5 hours worth of gear. It’s something I could do without personally.
    Newcomers of the game won’t strategize properly for the final difficulty where monsters can have total immunities. It’s important to strategize and have multiple sources of damage. Otherwise some battles will take a very, very long time.
    All in all, playing this game, I recognize why it’s considered a gem (especially when looking at the old graphics). It is also coop which means you can strategize and tackle the game with friends, though the game does not support cross play. Even if the price tag seems a little high, it will no doubt occasionally go on sale. I am optimistic about the future of the genre, but Diablo II celebrates all the good from the good old days.. If you are into the genre, Diablo II Resurrected is a pretty safe bet.    … Expand

    First off, I played the campaign with an offline character and it was a very good experience. About online play I cannot say anything. Offline is very solid though.

    So, this is a very good remaster of D2. Graphics are good, combat is fun, overall atmosphere is dark and mysterious. I you do all quests and some grinding, you will need 30-50 hours. The score would be a lot lower if I wanted to play online, but I don't most of the time. I can see why those who do play online are frustrated though.     Yes there is an element of nostalgia when playing this game. I was young back then so I didn't do a quarter what I have done in the past ~200 hours of playing the new version. It's been a blast and completely worth the money for me. The server stability has been terrible sure, but eventually the intern developers at Blizzard Activision will figure this out.     The game is simply amazing. It feels exactly like 20 years ago, plus some quality of life improvements. Usual server issues at the start were quickly resolved, and even though some bugs remain - the overall impression is the complete satisfaction.

    It has some start problems and questionable character redesign, but overall - this is a really decent remaster. VV somehow managed to overhaul all the graphics, but to keep feeling and atmosphere of the game. It looks almost like it was taken from my imagination of 20 years ago.

    Solid 9/10 from me.

    3. TCP/IP. ОБОЖЕ ОНИ УБРАЛИ TCP/IP!!!! Вопят чуваки которые в диаблу не играли, наверное, никогда и ставят 0. Убрали и ладно, кто вообще собирается в 2021 году играть по LAN?
    4. Амазонка. Да, сделали немного "уродливей" чем в оригинале, но на релизе не тот мужик, который был на бете. В целом нормальное лицо. Суровая, но красивая женщина с копьем. В целом модели персонажей стали имхо более реалистичными. Варвар вместо лица младенца получил бритую голову, щетину и черты 35-летнего мужика. Огорчает что друид стал больше похож на барда, а некромант на прадедушку некроманта из оригинала, но я переживу.
    4. Нет поддержки модов. Меня, как человека иногда играющего в PD2, это немного огорчает. Надеюсь в будущем поддержку модов добавят.
    5. Слишком высокая цена. Тут не поспоришь. Я надеялся, что хотя бы сделают скидку обладателям оригинальной игры (которая, между прочим, на текущий момент стоит 1100 руб), как сделали с dark souls. Хрена с два.

    А теперь плюсы.
    1. Графика. Игра выглядит шикарно.
    2. Атмосфера. Имхо передали атмосферу оригинала, это ли не главное в ремастере?
    3. Нет координальных изменений, меняющих геймплей. Считаете что Д2 устарела и т.п.? Не вопрос, идите в ПОЕ. Есть куча людей, кому Д2 травится такой, какая она есть.

    В общем, имхо ремастер удался. Большинство претензий либо надуманны, либо уже не совсем актуальны, а плюсы их явно перевешивают.    … Expand

    Some server issues at launch but all resolved now. Incredibly faithful to the original, which is testament to the brilliant game design of Diablo 2. If you loved the original, you'll love this.

    Diablo 2 was the peak of action-roleplaygames which can now be enjoyed which better graphics. Don´t be mad about missing quality-of-life functions, that was the grind those days and a medal has to be earned in a honest way.

    Pros:
    + beautiful, up-to-date graphic - including all models, levels and even polished items and gear,
    + high resolution, completely remade movies,
    + all original squeaking, yelling and moaning of monsters kept, the fallens mumbling "bishibosh", so is so funny,
    + the original D2 atmosphere is preserved: 1st act full of dungeons, murky woods and gloomy catacombs, act 2 with it's sunburned deserts, full of ancient Egypt-like tombs, and rainforest, just epic
    + incredible satisfying combat, especially Hell difficult, requiring not only smashing keys, gear, but often specific tactic to counter given monsters resistances,
    + repetitiveness in positive way - you have 7 unique classes to master with 3 different skill trees, you can even make a axe-throwing barbarian, though no guarantees you are going to finish a game with it,
    + Finally, it does not require Internet connection to play offline - i was playing offline characters during servers maintenance yesterday (26.09 19:30-22:30), just turned off Internet connection and no authentication was required or whatsoever,

    Cons
    - the Stash is to small, you still have to create "mule" characters if you want to collect gear for other characters,
    - the mercenaries still behave in a dumb way - attacking souls in act IV or barricades instead of monsters, should be given better AI with stance - defensive, offensive, passive etc.,
    - well I can agree with some people asking for TCP/IP games (why the heck you have removed that)?,
    - a minor bugs regarding monster AI, some of them just stare at, while you are slaughtering them, a more aggressive stance during hell nightmare-hell difficulty would be welcome.

    Well, this is it, I am returning to butcher the demons on hell difficulty with my meteorb sorc and then going to enjoy the game with Assa, Javazon and IK barbarian and probably Ele or Shapeshifting build dru ;) So see you in about 3-6 months ;)    … Expand

    The game is still great and even better with the small QoL improvement like the increased stash or not getting closed out from cow king. I have not had any mayor problems playing. Graphics are absolutely beautiful. Complainers armada cant drown out the quality of the work put into this game.

    Just as remembered. Can't believe I can play d2 without pain in my eyes. Can't believe it looked so bad, when I tried d2r first time, this was exactly how i was remembering it. How cool it is how imagination works. Outstanding job truly, some quality of life things could be added, but, damn, I live it!!!

    Reading the negative reviews for this game is just embarrassing. Its sad that this game is getting absolutely bombed by fools and sexual inebriates. You’re probably inventing bugs that don’t exist cause you don’t know how to program a simple HTML document let alone write a game in a language like C++. This game stayed true to the original and I love the new graphics. I missed Diablo 2 and it’s great to see it back.

Проделана хорошая работа, игра выглядит так же, но лучше, идеальный ремастер, а это атмосфера мммм, я конечно знаю что это заслуга людей которые делали игру 20 лет назад, но у новых разрабов была возможность все похерить, но нет, выполнено на 5+.     Almost perfect. I didn't like the coverage of the cleavage on some of the models. I play offline so the server issues don't apply to me. However, I can see why such a low rating is given due to server instability.

    THE GOOD: everything Diablo and new visuals.

    I was so excited for this game and for the most part it did not disappoint. The server issues at launch were terrible but have gotten better in recent months. If they could fix some of the really dated mechanics it would be even better. The stash and rune/gem storage definitely needs a stacking ability.

Seriously, this sucks beyond believe... I´m so extremely angry. The newest thing is: I can´t even play with my beloved wife anymore, we simply can´t join the same games, instead of joining we recieve an error warning. It doesn´t matter whether I or she opens a game or we try to join some completely random game which was created by someone else. Are you kidding me? Why can´t we play together? What´s wrong with you Blizzard? You have an ridiculous ammount of experience when it comes to Diablo games and Online Multiplayer Gameplay, and now you can´t even get those really simple things right. Embarrasing performance, Blizzard. If you make a small little typo when joining a specific game name, or a baalrun isn´t continued all of a sudden for example, you´re forced to wait a whole 90 seconds just to join another game because there´s some kind of cooldown. You spend hours of waiting and waiting instead of playing. Wow, I´m genuinely speechless. Blizzard does everything to prevent people from playing and especially playing together. And guess what - there are hard crashes every here and then - and sometimes, after immediately reopening the game, theres that frigging Waiting queue again! Blizzard, you´re pissing me off at a degree, it´s not measureable anymore. As if your reputation isn´t already as low as it can get. But instead of redeeming yourself by making ONE single decision right during the last 10 years by delivering ONE single GOOD game for diversion, you present us this unfinished hardcore mess of a game where nobody can just play and have fun. Besides, those server issues are so severe that Blizzard decided to use old Backups when something crashes again and again so parts of your progress are lost. Great. They said " we didn´t expect players to create and kill so much game sessions" as if they hadn´t seen any other Diablo or RPG ever before. Liars... This Peace of crap could have been a great revival of the most epic action rpg of all time... I´m ashamed. Lowest rating guys...

    Edit/Update Nov. 15. - There was a patch and now the waiting queues are almost gone, you can immediately join new games now after a typo etc. and they added a countdown to at least be able to see how long you have to wait instead of that stupid error warning. No progress lost since, and i can play with people in my friends list every time now. Hard Crashes are more rare now. There are good improvements here. No 0/10 rating anymore, now it´s playable and as addicting as always. Good stuff.    … Expand

    I think Blizzard did the massive amount of Diablo 2 fans and themselves a big favour by releasing this game. I find it plays exactly like the original but with better graphics.

    Diablo 2 is an amazing game and yes some changes like the character's faces are ugly, but all that matters to me is the gameplay, story, graphics and soundtrack. And if this also matters to you, get the game.

    - Amazing story including cutscenes - Very good gameplay - Excellent soundtrack - Good/Honorable updated graphics for the most part (99%) 9/10 Has some networking (blizzard    Diablo 2 is an amazing game and yes some changes like the character's faces are ugly, but all that matters to me is the gameplay, story, graphics and soundtrack.     Diablo II: Resurrected is far from perfect. The changes in character design are likely to rile up returning players, and the archaic gameplay probably won’t agree with younger generations weaned on more streamlined, sophisticated experiences. While I appreciate that this legendary title is now available in an improved format, it’s not a caveat-free recommend.

    Diablo II: Resurrection is outdated return of the legend, but it brings such a perfect atmosphere and such a wonderful audiovisual processing, that serie fans will be excited.

    Diablo II returns with refreshed graphics and unaltered gameplay (apart from some small improvements). It’s as fun as I remembered, so I quickly felt at home and gave in to nostalgia. However, it’s hard not to notice that beneath revamped visuals lies a 21 years old design. [12/2021, p.32]
