Great game, though it has some cons compared to DE: HR. Earlier it had pretty bad optimisation for PCs, now it's ok and the game is really cyberpunk RPG gem.

There's a lot of misinformation about this game but it really is one of the best of the current generation. My advice is to just play it and make up your own minds, then play it again as you will have missed a lot. It's a big, complex game that rewards multiple plays and exploration.

The better regarded prequel Human Revolution had more areas but this is bigger, more dense and refined

The better regarded prequel Human Revolution had more areas but this is bigger, more dense and refined (and with better side quests). As an example an apartment block I just visited in HR actually only has one room you can go in. MD has some where you can go in most/all of them. HR allowed you to play without killing people yet it forced you to do so in boss battles and starts the game with only a lethal weapon. In MK you can play the entire thing without killing.

It does leave some plot elements hanging but that's because it's intended as part two of a trilogy. The whole micro-transactions thing is overstated. They are completely optional, just like in the more recent Shadow of War.

Deus Ex games are one of my favorites and this one is quite good, there are some cons, but not too serious.
Then there are some kind of stupid micro-transactions and one time use bonuses that put the whole thing to shame. Not to mention the denuvo which is simply insulting.
I only bought it because I do love the series.

Must play for cyberpunk fans. If you avoid hype, skip micro transactions (totally skippable and unintrusive) you will play a game with truly coherent realization. Level design, gameplay, story, sound design - it all fits one another perfectly. Players want this kind of games. Blame PR and management decisions for bad reviews. Devs you did an excellent job!

It's got good gameplay mechanics and it's replayable by virtue of the different play styles on offer but, based on what I consider a Deus Ex game to be, it fails to meet its potential due to a severe lack of locations.

My playtime was 39 hours but over 32 of these was in one place; Prague. Imagine if the original DX was almost entirely in Hell's Kitchen?

Then there's 2 hours or so in Golem city, which admittedly is beautifully designed with a huge attention to detail. However, the rest of those 5 hours are made up of a miniscule 3 main missions outside of Prague and Golem City. In fact, one of them is the tutorial level.

If you take a list of the main missions and places to see in the original DX and compare them to Mankind Divided, it's absolutely laughable. There's very little sense of adventure here.

The game designates missions by M for main and S for side. M17 is the last main mission but don't let the number 17 fool you, MANY of those so-called main missions are simply things like, 'Go back to HQ and see Jim', or 'Go back to your apartment and speak to Alex'.

There are a lot of side missions, and they're good as side missions go, but they're a poor substitute and in the end you'll spend 30+ hours in Prague, dealing with petty criminals, a variety of odd balls and people down on their luck or you'll be acting like some kind of cat burglar while you collect items and XP. Great if it were in ADDITION to a large variety of main missions but as the core meat of the game I was very disappointed. It's hardly globe trotting, secret facility infiltrating, super-agent stuff.

Buy this game for the fun of the gameplay but don't expect anything like the original version in terms of an epic story and questline. I'm giving it an 8 but if I was solely comparing it to the original as a fully featured DX game, it'd have to be closer to a 6. In the words of the great JC himself, 'What a shame'.

Sure, it has microtransactions, but i never felt i missed anything. It doesn't require grinding to experience and quite frankly, those microtransactions are totally unneeded to enjoy the game. Not enough reason to metabomb this. I understand why those kids do this, as it is a terrible business practice, but come on, the game is phenomenal, give it some slack. Due to your actions, we may never see a sequel!

And this leads me to its only fault : A cliffhanger ending. This is the only thing legitimately "bad" about this game, it doesn't answer many of the questions you have at the end of the game, and it clearly will in a future title. Let's hope this future titles happens, because this game is AWESOME!

Most major gameplay mechanics are copied from Human Revolution (with mild refinements); stealth gameplay is much improved and the side-quests are truly superb. Not as narratively engaging as Human Revolution, but still a good game and a worthy entry in the franchise. Go for the Digital Deluxe edition at a discount so you get all of the DLC.
Total size on my hard-drive (including Season Pass): 60GB

+ Good voice-acting. Elias Toufexis as Jensen is as good as ever. Supporting cast is great as well.
+ Impressive light rays and hair animation.
+ Excellent side-quests. While not linked with the main story, they make everything better by providing valuable context. Some unique boss battles, too.
+ Stealth encounters are better than ever. A large number of choices, paths and methods await.
+ New augmentations that allow different ways to play. But if you want to play using the same styles and methods you developed by playing Human Revolution, you can do that too.
+ Plenty of mutually exclusive choices. At least two playthroughs are needed to see everything.
+ Prague is large and complex, divided into four districts. Tons to do and explore.

+/- What’s the story? “Adam Jensen fights terrorism by completing quests for Interpol.” The only stake Jensen has in the fate of augmented people is that he himself is augmented. Depending on how seriously you role-play his commitment to aug-rights (versus his duty to his job), the story can feel tangential.
+/- Much of Mankind Divided feels like a copy-paste of Human Revolution (with some refinements). Prague is the main hub instead of Detroit. Inventory is the same, gun-play is much better, hacking is refined, but is otherwise the same (the addition of “fog of war” on high-level objects is a nice touch). Even the story structure (though not the story itself) is similar.
+/- Composer Michael McCann returns from Human Revolution. His ambient tracks are as engaging as ever (and in a few cases thematically linked to the ambient music in Human Revolution), but the big story moments lack a “big tune.”
+/- Resource-intensive. Mankind Divided loves cpu cores and vram.
+/- Lacks boss battles (I am talking about required bosses, not the optional ones.) I’m not sure having some would necessarily have improved the game, but they did help segment the different sections of Human Revolution. Mankind Divided offers no unique encounters to punctuate major story moments.

    - I never asked for crafting. There is literally zero reason for it to be in the game.
    - Sequel bait ending.
    - The choices you made in the main story result in different news broadcasts at the end of the game. Not much of a pay-off.
    - Lack of stand-out characters. Delara Auzenne and Jim Miller are well-drawn, but the rest of the cast is incredibly weak, especially compared to the plethora of unique individuals who populated Human Revolution.
    - Final boss is a joke of a fight. And you know he’s going to be the final boss from about half-way through the game.
    - Steam overlay did not work (I ran the game in Exclusive Fullscreen).
    - Game will occasionally lock up for a few seconds, then resume. Increases in frequency as the game advances, then disappears after the alpine level. Feels like an issue with texture stream-in optimization, but I’m just guessing.
    - Looping cut-scenes are used to hide the loading screens. Annoying, given how long the load-times are. If I want to watch gifs, I’ll visit 9Gag.
    - Facial animations are sub-par.
    - Some textures are oddly low-res (even with textures set to High).
    - Hair might look great, but skin does not. Chalky and poorly textured.
    - There might be a lot of stuff to do in Prague, but the city itself is an endless sea of grey. Visually boring. A lack of obvious landmarks can make it hard to navigate. (And why is the game set in Prague, anyway?)
    - Need to read the tie-in novel Deus Ex: Blacklight to understand what happened in between Human Revolution and Mankind Divided.

While not the equal of its predecessor, Mandkind Divided is worth playing for its excellent side-quests and strong stealth gameplay – and just for the pleasure of role-playing as Adam Jensen again. When I finished Human Revolution for the first time, I couldn’t wait to go back and play it again. After finishing Mankind Divided, I had more of a “That was cool. Moving on” feeling instead. It is still an enjoyable return to the Deus Ex universe, and fans of the series shouldn’t hesitate to give Mankind Divided a try.

Another huge plus is the audio, from the incredible sound track to the impressive voice work. Visually it's good to great in parts, Adam looks as bad ass as ever. Technically it was fine for the most part, 1080p/60fps is very doable now after all the patches, I managed it easily enough on a GTX 970 on the high preset. The only issue I ran into was asset load hitching in the main city which can't be avoided from what I've read (I'm using a SSD and 16GB Ram). I should note I crashed a couple of times also, make sure your inventory isn't full when you go into the Firing Range for example, that'll crash your game. Finally gameplay, it has been improved with a better cover system and a bunch of new augs to play with, most of which are really fun to use. If you enjoyed HR you will enjoy DE so I'd highly recommend it to fans of the series and even those who are new, you can watch a 12 minute catch up video before starting MD to learn the story and events of the previous game.

Some moments are really intense and there's a fair bit of exploring and sneaking. It does show that the developers have tried and be more diverse in terms of missions, but the end is very sudden and unexpected - undramatic even - when you're done, you'll think like "That's it? No twist? Just that?" and that surprised me in a negative way. But in it's defence, there's some really classy espionage/infiltration missions too.
To those who's intrigued by this game and haven't played the prequel (although, that does help a bit if you've done that, but it's not essential) I think you should definitely give it a try. But I'd recommend you to buy it at a discount at a season-sale, because it's not worth paying top dollar for.

The gameplay is basically the same as Human Revolution, which is actually good, because it works really well. You can play in variety of different playstyles, from silent non-lethal to shoot everything that moves style. There are numerous ways you can get through each area, and they all require different character skills. This diversity is also reflected in gameplay time. On my first play through I wanted to explore everything, complete every quest, hack everything, and read every email. This took me almost 40 hours. In contrast, on my second play through, I just skipped every dialog and completed only the main storyline as fast as possible, which took only 4 hours.

While the story conclusion does indeed feel a bit underwhelming, overall I still think the story is interesting enough, and I highly recommend doing every side mission. Almost all of them are quite engaging, and I think I will remember some of them for a very long time.

I definitely recommend buying this game.

In the same city in the story is changing, becoming more dangerous, it made the tap well. Besides Prague, you can still select the Station Utulik. She's beautiful, and I feel that it's really all very sad, but in Utulik personally I spent no more than two hours for sure. There is, for example, Dubai - primary location, and a set of GARM, but at these locations, we conduct mizirnye amount of time.

The gameplay has not changed - no problem with it, the more we have a new emplty, a classy way. Shooting has improved, but because of an optimization I was not very comfortable to shoot, so I went mostly stealth. It's interesting, because the locations in Deus Ex tiered, with different passages, there's more than one entrance and exit. I think the game design was even better.

Human Revolution carries Mankind Divided on the subject. What I was doing in this part? I played 20 hours, but I don't know what took me so long. Remember what we did in Human Revolution, there was more locations, we've been a very long time. I felt the history, the scale of events, but even the episode with the crazy augs worth. Nothing of the kind in Mankind Divided, no! In the second part the plot is very weak, the scale is not. We mostly sit in Prague and do stuff. But the most disappointing is the plot. The boss is just aug man?! And that's it?! So simple?! Well, excuse me, in the first part we struggled with a mega computer, and now with a seemingly ordinary boss. The feeling has passed half of the game where the second half? It is noticeable that the game was cut. There are many questions, and chief among them is Adam Jensen it's the same or not?

In the end, it is better to undergo Human Revolution - she didn't need a sequel. Yes, I would like the continuation of the story of Deus Ex, but not that weak.

Unfortunately, there are parts of the game that seem incomplete. I do not want to ruin the story but I will say that it ends abruptly with many loose ends. The upgrade system can also be annoying because even though the game allows you options on how to play you are better rewarded for being a stealthy hacker. However, if you ignore all of the combat upgrade the boss battle (s) will be much more difficult. I would still recommend this game to anyone who enjoys cyberpunk worlds or stealth mechanics (Dishonored, Assassins Creed, etc.), just don't expect the story to equal the level of greatness the previous Deux Ex games had. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided it's a really great project. The world of game is so cool (better than in the Witcher 3, seriously), great atmosphere, and very good graphics, I like this game, and i finished it on "I never asked for this", and i still play it, Well done, Sqaure Enix!

The game feels too short, when you think is getting good you can see that is basically on the end of it. To use your skills set is even worse. So much stuff to develop but you dont have the time to get good on so many of them!

Terrible, interminable cut-scenes that seem to be more about the game developers frustrated Hollywood ambitions than the game itself. A boring main character, who is like a walking trope magnet. A universe that's about as subtle and realistic as He-Man. Micro transactions. What's to like?

It was a very well done game with only a few issues.
Most of the issues were from the publisher and not the game designers.
Giving it a ten because anyone who gives it a zero shouldn't be reviewing anything I really hate people who have a single issue and if it has say microtransactions they give it a zero. I mean if you hate the genre or the company that much why are you playing it

I mean if you hate the genre or the company that much why are you playing it (if you actually played it).
Either way why do you think giving a zero provides any useful information to the rest of us.

It would make me very happy if Metacritic would automatically ban for life anyone who gives a zero review to anything.

Mankind Divided rewards exploration and respects your choices throughout its hefty campaign. The city of Prague is absolutely amazing with great details and visuals. The gameplay is also exactly what you expect from a Deus Ex game.

There is almost nothing you can complain about regarding the Mankind Divided gameplay. To achieve a greater score new Deus Ex lacks a better story and the possibility to "turn off" Czech language. [Issue#267]

Despite the "Can't stop the progress" tagline, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is pretty much a rehash of the previous game.
