Destroy All Humans!

Despite less-from-stellar controls, missions that actually ask player to destroy all humans are fun; too bad that they are heavily interspersed with absolutely uninspired stealth segments. [Issue#247, p.71]

Destroy All Humans is a fun, carefree trip to the past. Heavily focused on entertaining chaotic battles, with an improved remastered option -and despite its issues- the new version of Destroy All Humans! is a valid choice for all the alien enthusiasts out there.

It’s just pure gameplay, and sometimes, that’s all you need in a game. Unfortunately, it does suffer a little bit from repetition. While it’s nice to see this style of game back again, it’s a shame it wasn’t a full remake, as the technical limitations of the older consoles can be felt in some of the level designs.

Destroy All Humans! can't deny its age. Some parts of the game really feel outdated, the gameplay is too shallow, the graphics are too rough for today's standards. But if you ever wanted to play an alien villain enslaving mankind, this one is definitely for you.

Destroy All Humans! returns with a good remake that maintains all the humor from the original with improved visuals and expanded areas. It may be a bit repetitive but destroying humans is as fun as in 2005.

Destroy All Humans (2020) is a fine offering by updating a fan favorite PS2 game for the modern era. Technical issues plague this remake from being the perfect 1:1 recreation, but what is there is fun enough to warrant a few hours of destructiveness. Fans of the series will surely find a lot to enjoy with Black Forest Games’ remake, but Destroy All Humans doesn’t offer enough actual new content to bring new fans in on the invasion.

Destroy All Humans! does a really great job of recapturing the spirit of the original. But, in a time where we’ve seen some developers take the originals and expand on them greatly, often adding new features altogether, the remake for Destroy All Humans! feels like it missed the boat. I really feel like the developers could have experimented with new things a bit more and really made the game standout a bit better in the current generation of games. Still, though, if you’re looking for a fun romp through one of the best games of the early 2000s, then Destroy All Humans! hits the spot.

Blasting through the bright and cheery 1950s world of Destroy All Humans! is a simple but satisfying kind of fun, and there’s a lot to be said for that. Just like the original, this remaster’s comedy is a little hit or miss but its attitude is in full force all the way through thanks to some overpowered alien abilities that let you mow down the puny human resistance like an overlord.

Solid and true to the original, but even mordernized graphics can’t save the mediocre gameplay of the original.

Destroy All Humans! is a fun game but that fun doesn't last for long.

Destroy All Humans is an endlessly entertaining alien-superpower playground, but tends to crush under the weight of its own structure.

As awesome as it is, the arcade action in Destroy All Humans! is only a part of the experience, struggling to carry its rudimentary stealth missions and hit-or-miss writing. It’s definitely a blast to level entire neighborhoods and disintegrate humans; we just wish we had to spend less time impersonating them.

Overall mediocre game is saved by tons of humour and open-world like missions. Destroy All Humans! works perfectly as a nostalgic reminder while it proves that videogames have made a huge leaps and old school mechanics are just boring. [Issue#305]

Destroy All Humans! was never trying to be a masterpiece back on PS2 and it still isn’t one now, however it is a fantastic remake and if you are a fan of the old game I don’t see why you wouldn’t love this. People have begged for a return to this franchise but I’m not sure a remake was the way to do it; I truly hope they reboot this franchise for newer consoles.

Destroy All Humans! is just too shallow in both shooter and stealth action departments. Enemies are barely a threat, saucer-only missions are scarce, and there’s nothing to do in the “sandbox”. Thankfully, drowning farmers and flinging cows for hours is not the only source of entertainment this summer.
