You know, this game was a lot better than I thought it would be. Graphics were great and the story was pretty ok. Competitive mode isn't very much fun and the game is kind of repetitive but it was easily dealt with. Destiny 2 shouldn't have such a negative response but the publisher/developer or whatever has really started to being... not the nicest of people. That's a warning.

What the hell happened with this game. I'm fine if you going to pay for the base game and succeeding expansion but jesus christ man! There's a freaking problem with your game if you need 5 different items for you to have a transmog. If you're a free to play players your **** since the story is behind a pay wall. Even Zenimax is not that greedy in terms of story missions. Heck, even warframe is good at this. This game is becoming another cash cow and I'm not surprise because a chinese company now owns bungie.
All in all a good game destroyed by its monetization. If you want a looter shooter and don't mind the grind this game is good for you.

A decent game; outstanding visuals and sound, voice acting improved from the first game, more missions (though variety can become an issue) and combat mechanics are solid - it 'feels' good to shoot things and the horde type enemies are fun to engage with.

All in all, it's enjoyable. Play the free demo first to decide for yourself.

The point of making the boss fights easier are to make it more accessible to newer players which I understand and somewhat appreciate especially if I'm looking for a chill experience. But why not add difficulty selection like the first game? That is one of the biggest things for me. If they added that this might be an eight but for now it is a seven. A decent time waster with friends for mindless shooting. Setting, characters and world design is unbelievably bland. Dialogue is either cringe or passable. A really forgettable experience overall. Would not play this if not with friends. Graphics are nice though and gunplay is solid.

Feels like a online halo or a halo ripoff...which is a good thing, and it feels like that because it was created by halo creators. For a new person to the franchise it feels like a mix between the division and mass effect Andromeda Or mix between Warhammer and halo etc etc

So after leveling two characters till very end of game (raid phase) I can say that this game is average as it can be. I mean, it can be fun, it can be tricky and frustrating, but all this end with big boredom after you finish all activates available for single player . What else can you do if there is no social mechanism in MMO game?!

It offers nothing worth remembering. Its story is basic. Its abilities are dull. Its worlds, while gorgeous, are tiny and feel dead, though not intentionally. It is a pastime at best, and a punishment at worst. Destiny 2's idea of challenge is taking a note from the Division, and simply putting more numbers in their healthbar, and nothing else. And that is beside its microtransaction and season pass nonsense that has become a staple. I am glad I got this for free, or I would have been incredibly embarrassed to know that I had spent money on this.

If you can have fun with this, good for you. I'm glad. I wish I still had your optimism, but Destiny 2 to me is an excercise in how much you can get away with providing the bare minimum, in order to maximize profits. But in a world where the Star Wars: Battlefront revival sold 12 million copies, I suppose I should get very familiar with this sort of idiocy.

The problem is base shooting mechanic is simple and well-made for CONSOLES so it playes really plain in PC. It feels like there is no recoil, no interestinf patterns of shooting, everything feel same and plain.
You repetedly and casually shoot small pool of enemies, no sweat, and go further, get some loot and...that it.
Maybe it would have felt better if we had more abilities and 10-15 sec cooldowns, so it made game faster and get player more involved in whats happening.
But now its tunnel brain-dead "aim shoot repeat" without anything in between.

Story is simple, but voice acting is cool (especially Russian) and there are some funny/cute moments, also visual design is good and sometime great (like on the Planet with Cubical landscape) but it does not save the core gameplay which is too casual and well yeah, boring.

Over all, the movement is a bit slow for my tastes, but it feels fairly well polished and I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this game.

I just really hope the developers do right by their community and flesh the game out with at least a few free content patches. Right now a lot of people seem to be comparing this to Warframe, which can be played and enjoyed without spending a dime on it, not to mention it contains some of the best bits of story I've ever seen in a game. Bungie has listened to a lot of what people said about Destiny 1, taking a lot of steps in the right direction, but has also made some mistakes. Here's to hoping they correct their mistakes.

Destiny 2 plays like a cross between Borderlands and Halo. It's a story driven shooter with repetitive level design, samey reskin enemies, and randomized loot. As you progress through the game, you'll travel freely between different planets in the solar system. Each location has an open world area with public events and side quests. When you start a story mission in these areas, it's instanced. When you reach level 20 (max level), you'll return to these same areas to complete daily and weekly activities and challenges for randomize loot rewards. This can all be done cooperatively or solo and none of it presents any real challenge to a seasoned FPS player.

Player movement and enemy animations/behavior is very similar to Halo. Jumps are long and floaty as if there's low gravity. What's disappointing is character movement doesn't factor into class abilities or combat with one or two rare exceptions. It's simply there to serve as a way to navigate weak platforming sections. Enemies will sometimes juke to the side or drop a shield, but this doesn't increase their threat to the player. It only serves as an annoyance to increase the time it takes to kill them. Most enemies seem to fire the same slow moving energy projectile weapons. While enemy factions are thematically different in appearance, it quickly becomes clear they are just different models for the same type of enemy with similar abilities. Weapons variety seems weak. There's a sufficient variety of weapon types, but not a lot of options within those categories. Many weapons simply feel like reskins of weapons in the same category with no sufficiently differentiating characteristics.

The story is incredibly weak and predictable. Having not played the original Destiny, I had no grounding for who the main characters were or why I should care. The writing for character dialogue vacillates between self-important melodramatic posturing and hipster tier cringe (I'm looking at you Cayde-6). All I could gather from the story is that Guardians are religious zealots who worship a giant sphere which has visited earth and granted some people magical powers and immortality. In short, the Cabal did nothing wrong.

End game content and PvP are pretty fun. Strikes are Destiny's version of raids where you and other players go through much more challenging levels and boss fights to get better loot rewards. Revisiting some of the open world story mission areas to do side quests is sometimes entertaining, too. Doing these gives you tokens you give to a local story character for, you guessed it, loot rewards.

Destiny 2 is not worth full price especially considering there are going to be at least two paid DLC expansions. If all you want is a good coop game with your friends, Destiny 2 isn't a bad choice, but it may not have long term value for you. Don't buy it for the story.

"Competitive pvp" has no ranking system so I don't see how it could be competitive for anyone. PvP maps are completely exploitable as soon as you figure out how to invalidate spawns to split the other team. Some of the PvP map design is very poor.

The guild system remained broken on release for far too long so broken it was crashing or lagging out just about everyone on the pc. Not an acceptable thing to allow to go on for so long, let alone get released.

Again, the core gameplay is great but literally everything else is lacking.

I'll start by saying this might be the best PC PORT from console I've ever played. Day 1 launch is perfectly smooth, and no hints of bugs. The presentation here seems Blizzard influenced, which is to say the presentation of this product is flawless. No small feat in today's market! The engine looks amazing and delivers high FPS with no loss in frames on my 1070gtx at 1440p.

And now for why this game is mediocre. First off the game basically plays itself. It is the most entry level shooter I could imagine a modern release being. It plays at about the Doom 2 level of difficulty. Kill things fast dodge left and right, use your abilities. Far too many of the enemies are mindless Zombies who are often un-cleverly spawned into the world, essentially right in front of you with a teleporter beam.
The second problem is the loot and level systems. These are very simplistic, and the numbers make extremely minute differences on gameplay (Youtube these issues if you disagree). The 1-20 leveling system should have just been removed entirely. It serves as a 20 level skill stagger tutorial system that gets disposed of in 10 or so hours of game play never to have any use ever again unless you start a new character. As far as loot goes, there is just nothing to grind for as everything has been balanced so heavily you won't be getting any advantage over other players through item drops. It's hard to get excited about a vanilla loot system. I understand that an intricate loot system creates unbalance, but again where is the fun in everyone having access to all the same stuff?

Lastly despite all the hullabaloo about the countless hours of story in Destiny 2, IT ISN'T COMPELLING! It is all cinematic to the 10th degree, told so that anyone including those with the most extreme attention deficits can follow along. The dialog is so cringe worthy you will have to confront yourself with why you aren't doing something productive.
I've said this in other reviews, but these crazy over the top cinematics the AAA developers keep putting in their games aren't necessary. If you have an incredibly clever well-written story to tell at 100 decibels, by all means use it. But if you are including it just to check boxes it will look sloppy no matter how artistically you glide and swivel the camera around the terrible terrible lines and overused movie memes.

In brief summary, you might enjoy this game if you want a great looking super casual shooter with RPG-ish elements and a 100 decibel 1000 milligram energy drink slammed story that will melt your face off.

    - BULLET SPONGES - Enemies are just that. They are not smart. They are not crafty or complex.

While Destiny 2 has a solid foundation and a robust story campaign, its endgame content feels a little lacklustre. The sandbox doesn't have a whole lot of depth, and plumbing each of the hub worlds for secrets doesn't feel that rewarding. Grinding Public Events, Raids, and Strikes with friends is definitely a lot of fun, but there's a huge disconnect between content being cleared and your character strength increasing. There's still a lot of room for Destiny 2 to grow but, for now, it's still got a few kinks to work out.
