Sep 17, 2024Dead Rising’s gameplay was revolutionary back in 2006 and Deluxe Remaster proves that two generations later, the series still has a leg to stand on. With some modest improvements and an overhaul to the visuals, Capcom has effortlessly revived a cult classic in a way that feels like it never left. It just feels so damn good to be back in Willamette.

Sep 24, 2024The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a remarkably faithful, graphically impressive remaster of an original classic. The phenomenal RE engine brings the game to life, and QoL improvements make the game much more fun to play, though unnecessary censorship of original content and the missed opportunity of including combo weapons holds the game back just a bit for me.

Sep 17, 2024While not without its issues, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is an impeccable remaster that feels more like a remake and offers hours of great entertainment.
-
Dec 16, 2024Frank is back, and DRDR is definitely the best possible way to experience this game. It fixes so many of the original problems while upgrading the engine and graphics to the newest RE engine, giving it an absurd upgrade for a “remaster”. It is a prime example of how remasters should be treated while providing players with endless hours of stupid cheesy zombie fun.

Sep 24, 2024When Dead Rising launched in 2006, it was an inventive game. It felt like a game that was informed by the new possibilities afforded to it by the new generation of hardware. But it had a lot of problems that were easier to overlook through the lens of the time period. Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster retains the things that made it great while addressing everything that held it back. The graphical upgrade just helps it shine brighter.

Sep 17, 2024Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is an excellent job. Every aspect of this classic has been improved, with brand new graphics, more voiced dialogues and an impressive number of "quality of life" improvements that streamline and make the entire experience much more enjoyable. The slightly dull color palette and some rather clunky animations are not enough to tarnish the excellent work done by Capcom in making one of the most iconic zombie killers of all time current. Absolutely worth recovering for both veterans and newcomers to the series.

Sep 19, 2024What a pleasure it is to welcome back Frank West for this luxurious remaster of the best episode in the Dead Rising saga! Thanks to its high-quality graphic overhaul and adjustments designed to make the experience more accessible and comfortable, Capcom's almost 20-year-old title is back in 2024 at its best. We'd have liked to see the boss battles revamped, or the character designs given a little more attention, but nothing that detracts from the game's enjoyment.

Sep 19, 2024Above all, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster preserves the iconic original’s experience while including some very logical and welcome modern adjustments, like auto-saving, a new navigation system, and NPCs that seem less inclined to serve themselves for lunch. Not all the new voice acting is an improvement – and there are a variety of other tedious flaws that have gone unfixed – but wading back into the Willamette Parkview Mall after all these years has been an effective reminder of just how brilliant the original Dead Rising was back in 2006. Coaxing as many hapless consumers as I can back through throngs of the festering undead is as compulsive as it was nearly two decades ago. At the very least, now that I’ve paused to actually package this review together, it’s still gnawing at me to return – and that’s the sign of any great game (or reasonably effective zombie, for that matter).

Sep 17, 2024Originally a beloved Capcom title, this remake enhances the gameplay with modern quality-of-life improvements, while staying true to its roots in many ways. From upgraded graphics with RE Engine to improved survivor AI, the experience is more accessible, but this might divide long-time fans. The remaster succeeds in updating a classic, appealing to both newcomers and veterans, though some might argue that the essence of the original's hardcore difficulty has been softened. An impressive rework that balances nostalgia with modern sensibilities.

Sep 17, 2024Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster resurrects the dusty but intact bones of the original, revitalizing them with a new lease on life.
-
Sep 17, 2024Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a great time largely thanks to the simple fact that the original game is so solid and timeless. It’s still to this day a riotous schlockfest drenched in shopping mall Americana as you raid gun stores, run over psychos with a shopping cart or suplex a zombie. This all makes for some of the best and most joyful arcadey zombie-killing gameplay we’ve had to date, made better by a healthy dose of quality-of-life additions in NPC AI improvements and third-person handling. Though not all of the mall’s residents fare the absolute best in their HD upscaling it is worth it for how gorgeously bloody and grisly the halls of that shopping district are. It’s so damn good to be back as Frank West and this scoop is one well worth investigating.

Sep 17, 2024While there are a few changes, like the photography losing a category and gaining no replacement and Frank looking and sounding just a bit off, the pros in this remaster far outweigh the cons. The addition of autosave, the ability to move while aiming, and even the extra mall music make Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster feel like the glorious resurrection the franchise needed. I can only hope Capcom considers reanimating other Dead Rising games after this because, like skilled morticians, they've proven that they're dead serious about preserving the classics.
-
Sep 17, 2024The Dead Rising remaster fixes every small problem from the original, in turn allowing the spirit of Capcom's open-world to exist more freely. That increased polish however robs Dead Rising of some of its crucial character.
-
Sep 17, 2024Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a solid remaster that enhances the original game with some welcome gameplay and quality-of-life improvements that go a long way to make the experience more enjoyable than ever. However, the remaster falters in the visual department, with dull colors that pale in comparison to the vibrant visuals of the original. Still, there's plenty to like in the Deluxe Remaster, as Frank West's journey to Willamette remains as engaging as ever, though the mostly faithful recreation of the original gameplay feels a little dated compared to its sequels.
-
Sep 17, 2024Eternal rest definitely doesn't exist when you're a zombie designed in Capcom's labs. As Halloween approaches, the Japanese group brings Frank West back from limbo in a more beautiful, better quality, but slightly cut version of Dead Rising (erotic photos). This Deluxe Remaster edition smooths out the rough edges of a "so 2006" gameplay with heavy hammer blows. The result is enough to make fans salivate, if not turn newbies into fanatics. In any case, Willamette has some nice leftovers that you'll enjoy fighting.
-
Sep 30, 2024Ultimately, Dead Rising: Deluxe Remaster strikes a delicate balance between maintaining the spirit of the original and introducing modern updates that make it more playable today. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the series, this remaster offers a thrilling and chaotic zombie-slaying experience that proves why Dead Rising remains a standout in Capcom’s catalogue.
-
Sep 17, 2024Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a better version of a classic, flawed game. Those blemishes are sometimes more glaring today, but some great fixes to the overall package also erase some other issues entirely. Its timeless qualities, like an absurd story and a fun setting, keep it from feeling like an unwelcome retread. Still, I'd hope the next Dead Rising fixes a lot of what this one does poorly--and even some of its sequels did that, so it seems likely. In 2024, Dead Rising is no longer the sort of game that would make me run out and buy a new console, but it is a game that I'm happy to revisit in this improved form.
-
Sep 17, 2024Capcom has delivered on its promises. Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster polishes up the original game, but leaves some annoying elements intact. There was potential for more, perhaps a full-fledged remake - it's a shame the developers didn't have more courage.
-
Sep 17, 2024If Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is any indication, the core philosophy of the game still works in 2024. Running around the mall with an array of silly weapons is still brutal fun, the time restrictions of 72 Hour Mode make each decision heavy and important, and the Willamette Parkview Mall has never looked better. However, there's some jank under the hood, a few key improvements are missing, and the story could have used a small adjustment or two for modern times. None of these problems, however, serve as mortal wounds; like the zombies, our enjoyment with DRDR keeps coming back whenever those issues turn up.
-
Sep 17, 2024Dead Rising shows that it still has style after all these years. Especially the hordes of zombies and killing them is timeless and still fits today. Some of the graphical improvements are nice, but other things aren't as polished, and it's a shame that the gameplay hasn't been touched up and some outdated elements tweaked.
-
Sep 17, 2024Despite the new engine and slightly improved gameplay, Dead Rising is, still, the same awkward game we played back in 2006. While it’s still interesting to see so many zombies and use everything around you as a weapon, the time limit and babysitting NPCs really isn’t fun. Maybe one remaster per game is enough.
