The inexorable focus on realism won't suit people looking for fast entertainment. But if you dive into Day of Infamy, it will be very difficult for you to get out of there. Except for a few issues, this is the second world war in full fame. [Issue#274]

The biggest gripe I have with the game is that it is dated. Yea, yea, graphics don't matter but in a sense they also do. Day of Infamy is based on the Source engine which is now 13 years old. Give me a more modern take of this game and it would rival the best in the FPS gig. Even with that said I still can't stop going back and wanting more. Day of Infamy is one of the most tactical and hardest FPS I have ever played. It reminds me of the Dark Souls series in the fact that at first it can be very difficult but once you start to learn the maps and how to utilize the classes to your benefit you can slowly start seeing your score and skill building. Honing that skill is where I am at now and I a loving every minute of it. I die less and am way smarter on my approach which benefits not only myself but the success of the team and a more enjoyable experience. For an entry price of $20 this game is an absolute steal and if you are in a lull with Call of Duty or Battlefield you will in no doubt fill the gap with Day of Infamy.

At £14.99 this game is a solid investment for time and money. Get ready to use your brain and your senses, or else be prepared to get killed on the regs by unseen enemies – that’s right, there was no ‘killcam’ in the 1940s…

Day of Infamy is a solid WWII FPS with its limited HUD creating room for immersion, its balanced gameplay, and a rather excellent price point. If you would like to jump into WWII before Call of Duty launches their version of the war, Day of Infamy wouldn’t be a faulty choice.

Day of Infamy is not a game that will tear down the hegemony of Battlefield or Call of Duty, but like other realistic shooter out there, it provides an alternative FPS experience.

Day of Infamy is another solid - though visually dated - tactical shooter from New World Interactive that benefits from the shift to a World War 2 setting, and the more distinct weaponry and greater context that comes with it.

It's a very old-school shooter, but at the same time, very hard and strategic. It's hard to get to, but once you're in, it's a lot of fun.

Day of Infamy is not for any kind of user, but it's realistic, complex and great co-op experience.

Day of Infamy is a highly engaging World War II multiplayer FPS by New World Interactive, the makers of Insurgency. The game plays similarlyDay of Infamy is a highly engaging World War II multiplayer FPS by New World Interactive, the makers of Insurgency. The game plays similarly to the aforementioned, but there are many new mechanics which improve the experience. For example, the multiplayer classes are unique and interesting; officers can call in artillery strikes, machinegunners mow down enemies with a storm of bullets, and flamethrower troops can fill whole rooms with liquid fire.

Gunplay is smooth and satisfying, with hit detection that works impeccably. Because most weapons kill in one or two shots, combat is snappy and intense. Grenades and other explosives have a wide kill radius and help to break up stalemates on the objectives. The weapons in the game are straight from World War II and are modeled quite well. The smoke grenades look very good compared to many other games (CS:GO for example) and using them properly is key to winning games. Voice acting in the game is amazing, and hearing a German officer yell for artillery or an American rifleman curse when reloading really adds to the immersion.

Map design is, in my opinion, miles ahead of Insurgency. Not only do the maps feel more "realistic" in their design but they are also well balanced and fun to play, with plenty of room to maneuver. There are a variety of objective-based game modes, each with a different pacing and overall feel.

The main drawbacks of this game are lackluster graphics and occasional technical issues, but in my opinion none of this detracts from the amazing gameplay experience.

In conclusion: if you like Insurgency, multiplayer shooters, or World War II games in general, Day of Infamy should be considered essential. If you don't usually enjoy those things, Day of Infamy just might change your mind.

Critics are rarely to be trusted. Gamers know, because gamers remember. We remember Day of Defeat - how brilliant the combat and gameplay was in that Counterstrike mod. Day of Infamy brings back all that was good about the original Day of Defeat into the brilliantly adaptable source engine. This game is all about movement and gunplay, teamwork and communication, just as I expect real war would be. You don't need next gen graphics and demanding requirements to enjoy a game.

So let the critics give this game sub 80 score, when it really deserves 90+. Critics who've probably never played Day of Defeat and instead feed themselves on a diet of CoD or Battlefield.

For realism, experience, immersion and fun, look no further for your online FPS needs than Day of Infamy.

Enjoy it before the toxic CS:GO crowd get here.
