To be honest it’s not The Witcher in any way that was a masterpiece this game is comparable to Deus Ex just Meh at best. Do not buy save your money until the update and fix this game.

CDPR lied to us about the rpg we were supposed to get. Watch the promotional material, like the 48 min deep dive. 80 % of the content is just cut. Such an unpolished game with nothing to actually do. It's just a glorified loading screen while you travel to the next mission. Great story aside, we were lied to and that's not ok.

Buggy, unoptimized mess and they knew it. E-Celebs and multimillion dollar ad campaign were just smoke and mirror to hide it. Calling the game a huge disappointment would be an understatement.
Not really an RPG. More like a bad FPS game with quests. Also no fun allowed, since cops spawn out thin air behind your back.

Despite being hyped as a leap beyond, the true next-gen game, the truth is C2077 is just ordinary. Worse, it feels ropey: humdrum. There's no "just one more mission" excitement. It didn't live in my imagination while I was away from it, either. At no point did I care about what I was doing.

This is more than the bugs, of which there are many; more than the performance issues (CDPR's own specs sheet weeks before release told me I was above spec for 1440p Ultra, whereas I actually get bad performance on 900p Low); more than the awful NPCs, who flip between being nice as pie to outright hostile and back again. Of course, there is also a ton of admirable work here. It's just been massively oversold in terms of what you'd be doing and how this world would work, and wobbles between being devoid of pleasure to be antithetical to any entertainment at all. Fixers constantly interrupt you on the phone in a way that superpasses "NICO! LET'S GO BOWLING" for sheer aggravation. The menus are nonsensical, unexplained, dreadful examples of UI design don'ts. You're given big choices that turn out, when you discuss them with others, to make zero difference whatsoever. It's all so last-gen, and worse I remember having a ton of fun with, say, DX:HR despite how janky and cartoonish it was — for all its problems, it succeeded in ways C2077 just doesn't. And there are so many games you can point to and say the same thing. This is very, very weak.

This game tries to be an edgy open world RPG with shooter element in an open world environmment, with rich events and interactivity, truth is, it fails in every aspect.

First the good, the city itself, is beautiful and well crafted, the atmosphere is great but that is it, it is dead, it is lifeless, the NPC are mindless husks with no proper AI(they said that every NPC would have a handcrafted daily routine), the police is even worse, they don't patrol, they don't chase, they just spawn behind in a surprise buttsex attack and that is it(they promised a complex police system), the driving is bad, the shooting is clunky, the stealth is laughable, some perks are useless, the customization is lacking and the genital thing is a big bait, it plays no role at all, you can't go to a barber, you can't have a drink, play a game and many other basic stuff that an open world should have, the lifepaths are meaningless, they change nothing(game clearly is built around the Street Kid background), your actions change nothing.

To summarize , this game is at best bare and bones, but with a AAA price, to hit the nail in the coffin, they promised a refund, which you will hardly get because the refund policies from the companies(specially consoles) are very rigid.

There is no real meaningful choices. No Artificial Intelligence for NPCs, no wanted system, no factions, no customizing vehicles or your looks. Loot is meaningless, crafting is pointless as you get few high level materials. One of the biggest game disappointments in gaming history.

    Pros:

    * Exceptional graphics & animation quality. (out of this world exceptional, looking forward to a Witcher game with this level of quality in animations) * World detail (fog, lighting, smoke) is exceptional * No-DRM * Unique renderings for characters (not all sharing the same bodymesh like the Witcher games) * Some of the car designs are fantastic, just sweet looking sports

    * World detail (fog, lighting, smoke) is exceptional
    * No-DRM
    * Unique renderings for characters (not all sharing the same bodymesh like the Witcher games)
    * Some of the car designs are fantastic, just sweet looking sports cars, muscle cars, and bikes
    * Good weather cycles (realistic rain, etc.)
    * The romance in terms of dialogue and actions was very well-developed with Panam. I like how CDPR made it a gradual thing over several quests instead of it just happening all at once, it felt much more realistic that way.
    * They did a nice job with the actual romance mechanics in terms of developing relationships. The sex scenes are not very good (see cons), but the actual romance developments were handled really well. Panam's were fantastic in terms of their exchanges, and the voice acting was really realistic.
    * I like the random calls from contacts / friends you make as the story progresses with new things to do, etc. That is a good quality of life addition to the game.

    Cons:

    * Gender system replaced with "body type" - it's sad for me to see CDPR pandering to social justice websites in a manner that impacts everyone.
    * First person perspective basically shoved down our throats, making it so you almost never see your character in the game.
    * Cut content from original plans: Large amount of cut content in the game from original plans - with characters like Meredith Stout, to only getting one apartment, and many many more
    * No Multi-GPU support - very disappointing
    * Key binding system is embarrassingly bad. I had to spend upwards of an hour fixing the key bindings in the game via .ini files manually! This is 2020....there should not be keys that are unbindable.
    * Very disappointed with how they handled Meredith Stout's character in the game - a lot of people were excited for her, and she literally is just involved twice in the entire game
    * Lot of clutter in the game / too much junk and loot to sift through
    * Combat is actually pretty sloppy. Far Cry 4 for example has far smoother, better, and more enjoyable combat for a FPS
    * Significant downgrade in sex scenes compared to earlier CDPR games like Witcher 2 and 3 (Witcher 2's were off the charts fantastic). This makes me very concerned for the next Witcher game as CDPR is venturing away from the balls to the wall style adult game mechanics that made them famous and beloved. This unfortunately is another example of CDPR bowing down to SJWs
    * Missed opportunity that they put so many cool cars in the game, and you basically never get to use your car on missions. You work with a lot of other characters in the game, including some pretty girls and rarely do you get to show up in your $100k exotic and have them comment on it, etc. Again, this game just feels so unfinished and half-baked which is pretty pathetic considering it's been in development for so many years
    * The romance options themselves are incredibly limited. For a straight male V, there is one option. Pathetic. You can tell CDPR really cut content to get this thing out, very disappointing
    * Very wonky stealth mechanics - particularly with grabbing enemies - it can fail through no fault of your own pretty easily and randomly
    * Incredibly poor story pacing. They put seemingly a billion side missions in the game, but don't really give you a proper time to do any of them because of the way the main story tries to push you along to the next main mission - we're talking a very frantic main story narrative that makes it seem 'wrong' to be doing side tasks
    * The boxing matches are ridiculously unbalanced with bad mechanics. Even on easy, I'm level 43 doing fights that are way under me, and the opponent boxers will take you out in 2-3 hits while it takes you 100 hits to take them down (not exaggerating). It's like they don't even playtest the game
    * Time flow on the quests is really screwed up
    * Ending(s) of the game - no spoilers, but I'll just say I thought the end-game scenarios were awful on an epic level. Absolutely unrewarding and just left a very sour taste in my mouth.

    Game Length: ~95 Hours

Final Rating: 3/10. Given how bad the endings to the game are and adding all the other cons into it, with minimal pros to offset, this is just an outright bad game. People want to finish a game and feel good about the time they invested and the well-being of their character - that did not happen for me with this game. I got to the end and it was just an utter and complete let-down. I'm still in borderline shock that CD Projekt Red created this disappointment of a game. The Witcher games were absolute masterpieces, and this game just honestly sucks. CD Projekt Red is on a heavily downward trajectory at present.

The lack of vision for the future is not only stunted world-wide by utterly absent. Just like the recent Picard series, instead of progress, it presents us with today’s culture, on steroids.

People in this future have no ability to think critically; instead they’re just further reacting to their childish culture of self-obsessive aesthetics, social status, mass-consumption, chemical abuse, rapacity, de-evolution & poverty. That’s not the future. That is this current limited society – From an American perspective - as always. Euro-Dollars is the height of CDPR’s imagination, & apart from purloining everlasting clichés from the last century, it really has nothing new. This will sit well with all the middle aged wage slaves who are bombarded with nostalgia every 3 minutes.

“Oooh yes I remember that. I haven’t heard that in a while. That reminds me of things I already know about. The Good ol’ days. I don’t have to learn any of this I’m having fun yes.”
Yeh we get it. You miss your childhood & don’t know how to move on. Never mind the fact that it is trite, stale & offers nothing original, innovative, experimental, or inspiring. Nostalgia is a little like celebrating the ability to keep your brain the same size.

The game mechanics are all there as usual. Don’t expect to be blown away by anything other than headshots, customization, & lacklustre upgrades. A tired old formula. Made by geriatrics who are obviously still reminiscing over 80’s Science Fiction which was never taken that seriously in the first place.

The human population feels very hopeless right now. Late-Stage Capitalism has failed all but 2%, we’ve had no social progress trapped inside the Industrial Revolution, Bio-Diversity is in the gutter, Eco-systems are collapsing, and the Climate Emergency currently threatens us with the 6th great extinction as our natural resources are squandered on military posturing. But CD Project Red utterly ignores ALL of that. Because this is about going Back, not forward.
This is the slow crawl out of what has become a stale formulaic generation for gaming. They haven’t realized yet that if you give humans the ability to create a better world, they shall. Instead, CDPR want to make money by pandering to their mental afflictions by building the world they want you to see, full of social-economic decay – priming you all to expect the very worst from the future their generation have arrogated from you in real life.

The hacking system gets old after the fourth time and you will be doing it more often than killing npc’s. Glitches are around every corner and make it nearly impossible to enjoy any quest. Combat feels tedious and becomes boring after two to three engagements. NPC’s run around like idiots and even will hide from the player, or get stuck in place, allowing you to blast away at their face. Accidentally kill a civilian during a shootout? Watch as cop NPC’s spawn from out of nowhere and start melting your ass.

The only enjoyment from driving comes from marveling at the landscape but will quickly be ruined by traffic issues and slushy mechanics. Drive all the way across town to discover that quests don’t work or mission assets not functional.

Have fun scrolling through your inventory to either disassemble or sell items and weapons that you no longer have use for after picking them up five minutes prior.

One of the best glitches I encountered, early in my gameplay, was when I jumped onto some trash bags a floor below and was launched into the air off of the building. Yes I died. Yes, my auto save was twenty minutes prior. Lol. I don’t even have enough excedrin to finish this disaster. I honestly believe that it could take another two years to iron out all the issues with the games. But to make the game great, would require going all the way back to the drawing board. The gameplay is stale and old witching a couple of hours.

Graphics are great but the core mechanics of the game are not up to par with standards like gta or other great open world games. The music is great though. ;)

CDPR offered in their last games good narrative and character development and mediocre mechanics and systems and Cyberpunk isn't an exception, but this time the game has much worse, inconsistent, shallow world design with not much to explore out the narrative rails or far less secondary content than The Withcer 3. Additionally this time there are some specific contexts in which the quality is way below average, bad, not simply mediocre: Enemy and npc AI, driving, combat, the superficiality of lifepaths, the low interactivity and reactivity of the world, etc.

I want to add something that personally bothers me and I have not seen it enough criticized: It's design is not Cyberpunk. Its concept, world, art and "level" design are too colourful, brigth, sunny, clean, ordinary, mild, superficial and presentist. Billie Eilish with bionic parts isn't Cyberpunk. The cars look too regular with only frivolous "cool-looking stuff" additions, the ncps are mumble rappers with implants, those implants are way too extended, the social differences aren't enough marked, the corporations are way less oppressive than they should be, there is not a clear vision of the final triumph of savage dystopian corporate capitalism, the generic post-apocalyptic gangs don't fit the role of annoying little microbes that they are in classic cyberpunk compared with the megacorps, there is more of bad boy/girl superficial and edgy teenager pose in dialogs and stories than a true nihilist tone.

The game narrative in the cinematographic/literarian sense is good, but videogames are not simply classic narrative. Without enough and good interactivity, linking systems and mechanics with any supposed story, characters or dialogue, a title with good narrative can be still a medriocre-bad videogame. It's Cyberpunk 2077 case.

Swindled. Finessed out of our money by some slick and dishonest marketing. Simply put, this is not the game CDPR said it would be. It's all style and no substance. As an action-adventure-on-rails the game works passably well, there's certainly some exciting writing and interesting missions, but as an open world game it is nothing short of an abysmal failure. The second you step off the beaten path, the cracks in this impressively dense and beautiful game world become undeniable. The stilted and bizarre behavior displayed by NPCs pretty much singlehandedly destroys any hope for immersion in the world; they all just bumble around aimlessly on their lonesome, nobody ever walks in pairs or a group, nobody has anything worthwhile to say to V, they're literally nothing more than moving obstacles. The entire game plays out through your constantly-ringing cell phone, feeding you a neverending stream of unrelated missions you have no particular reason to feel compelled to pursue, it's just a means to add new markers to your minimap to lend the impression that you actually have some things to do. As you wander around Night City, next to nothing ever happens to you, to the point that it's a complete waste of time to ever exit your vehicle; you don't get swept into side missions by chance encounters with important NPCs or anything of the sort, it's just an enormous, lifeless expanse to traverse between mission points. Very few things around the world of Night City are interactable at all; there are no minigames to be played, few shops or vending machines to buy from, just extremely little to do in general aside from doggedly chase down the main story quests.

Honestly, it's shocking how poorly this game turned out. I imagine it'll take a few weeks for the dust to settle and the buyer's remorse to properly set in before a lot of other people will be able to admit it. It feels as though more than half of all the bold ideas for features in this game ended up on the cutting room floor at crunchtime. For now, it's an extraordinarily hollow and unrewarding experience to hang out in Night City, and frankly I'm not sure I see a way in which CDPR could possibly patch their way out of this mess. It's just a downright disaster.

In 2020 they voted my city the most glitchy place to live in America.
Main issues? Sky high rate of bugs, and more people playing below acceptable frame rate line than anywhere else.
Can't deny it, it's all true...but everybody still wants to live here. This city's always got a glitch for you. Might be a lie, an illusion, but it's there... just around the corner...and it keeps popping

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just finished the game. 115 hrs. I decided I will push through this constantly crashing garbage of a game and see the story through, since I've heard it's actually good. It's not. Spoilers ahead so be warned. I've only finished it once and checked the other endings on the web since I thought there's no point replaying the game as the other endings are likely to be the same. And they are the same. There are basically 5 endings and all of them are bad. There's no good ending. All endings are more or less depressing. Some endings give you some consolation for a life wasted away. Others are just pure nonsense. In short, wasted time and money. Disappointment of a decade. I didn't hear one good music track in the game. Dialogs are well acted, but boring. Nothing really grabbed my attention much, maybe aside from Panam story, which cuts short once you bang her. Enemy AI in firefights is terrible. Counter Strike in the year 2000 had better written bots. Car driving is painful. The city seems dead. People walking, cars driving, etc. but there's 0 immersion effect. You just feel empty textures. Factions don't matter at all. It doesn't matter who you side with, nobody cares. The city doesn't react to you in any way, no matter how much street fame you have. No matter if you're good or bad. No matter what is your background. Unfinished product with not much hope of improvement, as it would require years of fixing bugs, adding meaningful mechanics and basic fun to it, to make it good. Kept my expectations in check for this game unlike many others who thought Cyberpunk 2077 would be the second coming of Jesus, yet I'm still dissapointed in the final product. I was above the reccomended specs yet somehow I can barely play at 40fps with everything set on low settings. Besides the terrible optimization, there's also a huge amount of bugs and glitches that will discourage even the most patient gamers.

Gameplay wise, after the first 10hours I started feeling like I'm playing a Ubisoft game.. Hundreds of activities around the world but they're all structured in the same way. Go into an area, kill people, loot some garbage and repeat. Weapons and gear have no value since you're gonna replace them in the next 10 minutes and the progression system isn't interesting enough to get you invested.

TL;DR "A rUsHEd gAmE is fORevEr baD, bUt a deLAyEd gaMe is eVEntUalLy gOod" is a myth.

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
